TCIWTFY - Chapter 133

 "Ah, yes. It's that boy."

Only then did people recognize Theo.

The young rebels who cried out for justice with his loud voice touched their hearts.

The Princess herself bent down and met Theo's eyes.

"I know that your courage is for the good of Valdina today. As the Princess of the county, I promise not to turn away from your call as a citizen of Valdina."

Exclamations of admiration for the Princess's generosity in embracing even a traitor were heard here and there.

Theo, too, might have fallen for those sweet words if he had not known that the Princess in front of him was the evil mastermind who had threatened him with his sister's life and instigated the play.

But he knew.

Contrary to her affectionate tone, there was never a single hint of a smile in her green eyes looking down at him.

The play wasn't over yet. Theo shivered.

"Your Majesty. Although this child was a rebel, he realized the harm it caused and sacrificed his life to report the Regent's treason."

Medea turned to Peleus with an expression of serenity as if she did not notice his fear.

"Also, the reason Valdina was able to subdue the rebels was because this child cut off the head of the corrupt leader without hesitation. It is difficult to recognize a mistake, but it takes even greater courage to correct it. Therefore, I ask Your Majesty to forgive this child's sin."

Peleus's blue eyes briefly glanced between Medea and Theo.

"Do as the Princess wishes."

Permission was granted. Medea bowed her head slightly toward Peleus as if expressing her gratitude.

Meanwhile, the knight untied the rope binding Theo's hands.

Thump.

A thick rope fell.

Theo looked down at his freed hand.

"..."

The pungent taste of blood lingered between his bitten and torn lips.

He was filled with anger towards the person who had broken his will by putting his family's life on the line.

But there was no denying that there was an instinctive sense of relief at having survived.

In the midst of such self-loathing and resentment towards the Princess, Theo had to admit it.

All he can do is know that there is nothing he can do, then or now.

This board was created by the Princess from the beginning, and he was just a chess piece in her hands.

"Your Majesty and the Princess... I thank Your Majesty for your generosity..."

'Are you satisfied now?'

As he barely lowered his head, suppressing his rising anger, Medea raised the corners of her lips.

"Thank goodness you got to 'live'."

Theo bit his lip again as he understood the Princess's hidden meaning.

"...Yes, I will not forget this favor."

He finished the greeting that was barely able to escape his throat and bowed his head.

It may seem like a loyal greeting, but it was actually done to avoid Medea's gaze.

Theo couldn't look at those beautiful green eyes any longer.

The people, who had no idea about Theo's confused mind, were amazed.

"You are indeed our Princess, Her Highness. You are the radiant beauty of Valdina."

"And what about His Majesty's generosity in pardoning that boy?"

The image of the righteous people and the royal family of Valdina who saved them was reminiscent of an epic poem.

But before the exalted people could fully experience that overwhelming emotion, they had to feel discomfort first.

"Oh, Your Highness. Please save me too. Please save me too."

The sinners realized through Theo's example that the King, was like an impenetrable ice wall. only listened to his sister's request, shamelessly reached out to the Princess.

The most shameless of them all was the Regent.

"Medea, forgive me. I, your uncle, must have been distracted for a moment, Do you not know how much your uncle loved you..."

He tried to approach Medea without giving up, squinting his bleeding eyes and fell over.

"Do you want to lose your only remaining eye?"

It was because Peleus's sharp sword blocked his path.

The Regent hurriedly covered his good eye as if to protect it and stepped back hesitantly.

"You don't need to ask me, uncle."

Medea spoke calmly as if mocking him.

"If you are the master of this land, truly chosen by heaven, wouldn't the Goddess know how to make arrangements?"

"What, what is it?"

"Heaven knows, and the earth knows! Joaquin de Valdina, am the one who will truly become the master of this land! How did Valdina end up like this? It's all because I am not the King! The Goddes has punished us!"

Just a moment ago, the Regent's mad screams were returned to him in the exact same way.

Before Peleus appeared. Before the belief that the sky would be his today was shattered.

The Regent gnashed his teeth. his one remaining eye glared at Peleus and Medea.

The siblings were remarkably similar to each other, even to the point of arrogance that made them look down on him.

"Yes, laugh to your heart's content. Your arrogance will not last long, How long will this Valdina, who has turned the Grand Duke and the Fourth Princess into enemies, be able to hold out against the Empire? After all, the war on the plains was a crushing defeat!"

He let out a string of vicious curses.

"This small country will be finished with one blow of Katzen's horse's hoof! You will be trampled to pieces! Ahahahaha! In hell, I will laugh at you!"

Peleus looked pitifully at the Regent who was almost going crazy. One of his beautiful eyebrows rose as if expressing a question.

"We were defeated...?"

As soon as a question that didn't seem like a question fell, Paaat!

The Agemas all raised their flags at once.

"La, it's a flag of the Lasha people!"

"One, two, three... Oh goodness, there are so many flags of the plains tribes...!"

The flag is the identity and symbol of the military.

Throughout the continent, no one would willingly hand over their pride and joy, their flag, unless is it taken by the enemy.

That means...

A ray of possibility bloomed in the hearts of those who saw the flags.

"The war is over, people! Our Valdina has won! The plains have become Valdina's territory, and this will be the new future of this country!"

D'Angel then shouted loudly.

"God has not abandoned Valdina! All the hardship up to now will become fertilizer for a brightly shining homeland!"

"Wow! Victory! Our Valdine won!"

"Waaaaaaah! Long live Valdina! Long live His Majesty the King!"

A thunderous cheer rang out. There were cheers and exclamations.

Everyone, from those who danced to those who broke down and sobbed, was moved by the fact that their country's long-held wish had finally come true.

Only the Prince Regent was unable to enjoy the pleasure.

"This, this is ridiculous, it can't be... Let go! Let go! It can't end like this! It can't end like this, Peleuuuuuus!"

The screams that seemed to shake the heavens and earth drowned out the desperate struggles of the Duke Regent as he was dragged away by the knights with both arms grabbed.

"Long live Valdina!"

It was the first confident cheer in ten years,

***

A blind spot is located beneath the tower on the opposite side of the wall.

Cesare turned and leaned back against the wall. the cheering could be heard all the way to where he was.

"Boss, we have to go now. The Agemas are here, so if we stay here, our presence will be discovered."

Gallo glanced at Cesare's empty hand and warned him. The dagger that usually twirled was nowhere to be seen.

"..."

"The Princess is safe now. You don't have to worry, right?"

"Yes, Cesare. Don't you have more pressing matters to attend to?"

"..."

It wasn't hard to find the silver hair shining in the crowd.

Cesare thought of Medea.

The image of the girl who had been wavered, who had always been like a lighthouse, collapsing helplessly in her brother's arms kept lingering in his mind.

Somehow, Cesare's mouth felt bitter.

A subtle sense of defeat was palpable. A hollow smile escaped from between the corners of Cesare's picturesque lips.

Did the Princess show exceptions and hope that he would be the one who saw her like that?

"Let's go."

"Yeah, boss."

Cesare's golden eyes passed over Medea and swept across the entire castle.

"Prepare the reward to be handed over to Valdina. As soon as the curse is resolved, we will have to pay a price equivalent to the dawn's droplet."

"Of course, I've already started."

Gallo replied coolly. They intended to do their utmost for the country that had given their lord the antidote.

That young and beautiful King wouldn't know.

That he was given a weapon called Facade, a weapon more powerful and rare than any other weapon on the continent.

"...I'm going back."

Cesare turned his back.

Tap. Tap.

The sound of footsteps being down the stone steps was soon drowned out by the shouts coming from far away.
