THYU - Chapter 40

Winter looked like someone who had forgotten how to use every muscle in his face. He just looked at Violet, motionless like a statue.

The temperature gradually dropped and the world was covered with snow.

Did you hear her or not?

Winter barely lifted his shaking hands and stroked her face. Winter mumbled, confirming that she was alive.

"Well, I just had a nightmare. It was a really crazy dream. You drugged me. I guess that's why I saw something wrong."

He wrapped Violet's wrist with both trembling hands. When he confirmed that it was running properly, he smiled with relief. His smile was horribly distorted due to the horrible emotions and the brainwashing that tricked his brain into thinking that nothing had happened.

"I have dreams like that because you keep making me anxious."

"..."

"Oh, is it because of me? Ues. I was a bad bastard. I won't do that anymore. It really isn't like that anymore. I'll stop as soon as you catch me. Never until you or I die..."

"...Winter."

"What on earth do I have such a dream?"

Winter repeated the same words, trembling with his large body. He couldn't accept this situation at all.

The whole hotel was buzzing, perhaps because gunshots were heard. Violet said toward the door.

"It's okay, nothing happened, so let's go back."

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Even so."

The hotel staff dispersed in an uncomfortable feeling at her answer.

When it got quiet outside, Violet looked at Winter. With his frightened eyes, he hoped that Violet would confirm that this was a dream.

Violet showed the nape of her neck, Winter's handprint remained.

"Look at this. It's not a dream. You said this."

"Violet..."

"The day we first switched bodies, when you left even though I held you back to trade Weidelin coffee beans, I really couldn't bear it that day. Because I'm miserable."

Winter stopped moving again at Violet's words. She continued calmly as if she were just explaining a trivial incident that had happened before.

"I was at a tea party and Diev asked me to stay with him. I didn't like it so I ran out of the tea party. I know I'll be scolded if I don't go back, but I hate going back more than dying, so I committed suicide that day.

"..."

"But instead of dying, our body changed. What happened next?"

Violet thought for a moment, tapped her knee with her finger as if she understood, and continued speaking.

"The day I was locked in the closet. I went because I thought you would take my side, but you said we would talk later. Because I feel sad about always being pushed away by you and money. Then, like now, I shot myself in the head with a gun. Oh, how free I felt that day when I stole your body and made my way to the capital. Because you can always do what you want and go where you want to go. You will never know how my heart felt that day."

Violet bent down and picked up the gun that had fallen on the floor. Then Winter quickly snatched the gun from her hand, removed the magazine, and threw it.

He asked blankly.

"How is this possible?"

"If your body is changing, it's because of your bloodline."

"That's not it. How can someone die so easily? What if something like this leaves a scar? What were you going to do if you really died?"

"All I wanted was to die."

"..."

"I wasn't trying to survive. I was trying to die. I wanted to die, so I took sleeping pills, took poison, and shot myself, but I couldn't die. Now I don't know what to do."

Violet quietly looked at Winter and continued.

"So I'm leaving you."

Now Winter was suffering from not even being able to breathe properly. Violet patted his shoulder and spoke sweetly.

"For me, money has never defeated you. So I'll give it all back. Things you like."

"Don't go."

"Oh, you gave me these shoes too."

As Violet spoke and tried to take off her green velvet, pearl-decorated shoes, Winter urgently grabbed her wrist.

"Stop. Please stop."

"It's yours. I'll give it to you."

Winter's broad shoulders rose and fell with his heavy breathing. He immediately spoke to Violet with a tearful face.

"Where and how can you live with nothing? How are you going to live your life leaving here?"

"I don't know, that too."

Violet bit her lip.

Her eldest brother was a good person, but he was weak and eventually passed away at a young age. From that day on, Violet always liked strong people. That's why she loved Winter Blooming.

But sometimes, there are times when her husband becomes weak. Violet loved even the weak spots that this rock-like man showed only occasionally.

So she may have dreamed of staying by his side. Because she hoped that his strength would embrace her weakness and that her strength would embrace his weakness.

She looked out the window and muttered.

"It's been three years. In the meantime, I've come to hate you much more slowly than you think."

"Violet."

"Just look at me for a little while."

"..."

"Just take a look at me just once before it's too late. It took three years for my heart to cool down, but even once during that time... If only you were on my side even once. I still wouldn't think of leaving you."

"..."

Violet looked back at Winter's face and smiled involuntarily.

"Why are you crying now?"

"..."

"Why are you doing this now?"

When she tried to let go of Winter's hand, Winter held her hand firmly again.

If Winter had known that his mother was abandoning him when he was five, he would have caught his mother with this look on his face.

Violet comforted him.

"Just take my side for once, Winter. If I stay by your side, I will have to live in hell, dying but not being able to die. Please."

"..."

"Please save me, Winter."

At her request, Winter's hand fell weakly. Violet lifted herself up and gave Winter a hug.

"Thank you. I knew you weren't that bad."
"..."

"I'm fine."

She slowly got up and left. Winter couldn't hold on to Violet, who said that hell was next to him. It wasn't until long after she left that Winter stood up.

He stopped because he couldn't bring Violet back to hell, then started walking because he couldn't bear living in hell without her, and then stopped again.

"Violet."

Winter called to his wife with unfocused eyes, like a sleepwalker.

"Don't go, Violet. You can't go."

The footman, who discovered him walking in the snow, was frightened and ran to him.

"CEO! Without a coat... Also, I'll bring you a coat and boots, so please wait a moment!"

When Winter couldn't hear and started walking, the footman became thoughtful and caught him.

"Someone here, please bring me the CEO's coat and boots!"

 "Oh my. CEO!"

Lulu, who had welcomed Violet warmly when she first arrived, ran out.  Winter recognized her, whom Violet was very fond of.

"Ah, there you are."

"At least wear boots! What on earth is going on?"

As the affectionate Lulu cried and screamed, Winter muttered in a distraught voice.

"Violet is gone."

"Yes?"

"My wife left me."

"I'll bring her! Where has she gone!"

"For now I should leave her alone. She says it's really hard on my side right now."

Winter asked Lulu in a dazed voice.

"She'll come back when you feel better, right?"

"CEO..."

"She has to come back. How can I live alone? What am I supposed to do with my life alone?"

Winter wiped away his tears with his hands and walked towards the train station. He thought maybe she would come back. Since the weather is not good, he doesn't know if she can stay by his side for one more day. Then he thought he would kneel down and pray all day.

If he was wrong. If he were her hell, he would rather die, than stay here.

With the moment of Violet shooting herself in the head repeating endlessly in his head, he managed to get to the train station and found that Violet's train had left for the west. And the moment, he turned around at the train station, he fell unconscious and the hotel employees who followed him came running screaming.

***

Violet ran frantically to the train station, wondering if Winter might come to visit her, and luckily she boarded the train that arrived right away.

The train station was busy, but the train heading west late at night was empty and bitterly cold.

Since she gave everything to Winter and left, she had very little spare money. It was cold and dark and she was afraid of everything.

As she started to worry about how far she could go from here, Violet wrapped herself in a shawl, trembled, and muttered.

"You're pathetic and weak."

She hated her own weakness. So she hated herself for a while.

Now that she thought about it, she was worried that she had left behind Winter, who had become meditative. However, if it had not been this much of a shock, he would not have let her go, so it was an inevitable choice.

It won't be long before her husband wakes up with a grumble and concentrates on building his own kingdom, which he loves so much.

She had never gone to such a strange and distant place alone. Feeling fear and shame, she shivered all night until she reached Lancia, the western port city that was her final destination.

Lancia Ridge, a little further south than the southern part of Rakround, was warm as the sun rose, and the weather was clear and dry.

After starting out in inclement weather, Violet's rounded shoulders slowly unfolded as she faced the cheerful sky.

She looked up at the sky and then walked towards the sandy beach.

"It's warm here."

Violet mumbled and looked back. Violet, who was looking at the rising sun, looked again at the western sea and muttered as if she were making a promise.

"I am not weak."

Violet decided to give herself a chance.

She decided to give herself, who she believed was weak, a chance to not be weak. Of course, she wasn't particularly strong. But why would that be evidence of weakness?

She had endured until today, and now she was determined to survive.

"Why did I think that God not wanting my death was punishment?"

She muttered.

"It might be a blessing."

When she thought that, she suddenly felt warm inside her body. She walked toward the port with brisk steps.

Soon her friend Sharon will be arriving at the port on her family's ship. Violet was thinking of leaving this continent on that ship. Gradually, her steps became faster. She suddenly felt her blood heating up.

Now she realizes that she can go wherever she wants. After that, she wanted to go farther, farther.

She kept bursting out laughing, not knowing where it was contained...
