Episode 83: Lucy's Toy Room
After the three men disappeared, Beatrix personally served Olivia tea.
“Have you been to Cosmos Hill?”
“Yes, Your Majesty. It was truly beautiful, just as you said.”
“In private, you can call me ‘mother.’”
Olivia blinked briefly at the affectionate voice, then spoke cautiously.
“Yes, Mother. Please speak to me comfortably.”
Beatrix met Olivia's elegant, honest gaze, smiled, and nodded.
“Yes, then let’s do that. By the way, did you take Noah to Cosmos Hill?”
“No. I couldn’t take him.”
"I knew it. He's so stubborn. It's like he swore he wouldn't go there."
As Olivia clenched her jaw to suppress her laughter, Beatrix laughed in her stead. She paused for a moment before asking Lucy to leave for a moment.
The young Princess might have grumbled, but surprisingly, she disappeared into the next room without saying a word.
As Lucy disappeared, Beatrix signaled to the head maid nearby. When the head maid disappeared, Beatrix spoke.
"Olivia, we've appointed an etiquette teacher. Countess Juliana Timberlin will be your guide to all aspects of the capital's social scene. She'll teach you everything from etiquette and manners to the broader social landscape. If you have any questions, ask her and learn."
“Yes, I will learn with all my heart.”
"The period should be between six months and a year. And there's one thing to keep in mind."
"Yes."
“Olivia Rosemond Astrid. You are Prince Noah's wife and my and King Leonard's daughter-in-law.”
Olivia unconsciously straightened her back a little more.
“You must not be arrogant, but at the same time you must not be excessively humble.”
This was the advice Leonard gave her, too.
“I will keep that in mind.”
As soon as Olivia finished speaking, the head maid came in.
“Your Majesty, I have heard of Countess Juliana Timberlin.”
“Come in.”
Then she whispered to Olivia.
"Don't get up now, but get up when I introduce you. Don't say hello first; wait for her to say hello."
A rustle of clothes was heard, and soon an elegant lady appeared. Her shoulders and chest were straight, her back straight, her posture admirably upright and elegant. Her silver hair was elegantly tied back, and her eyes were a transparent ash-colored.
“Hello, Your Majesty, the Queen.”
“Welcome, Countess Timberline.”
As Mrs. Timberline straightened her bent knees, Beatrix turned to Olivia and spoke affectionately.
“Princess, this is Countess Juliana Timberlin, who will be teaching you all about high society.”
Beatrix winked, as if it were now, and Olivia rose from her seat, catching her breath. As Olivia rose, Countess Timberline bowed again, bending her knees.
“Hello, Your Royal Highness. My name is Juliana Timberline.”
“It is a pleasure to meet you, Countess Timberline.”
She straightened her knees, looked up, and gave a friendly smile.
“I look forward to working with you in the future.”
“I am the one who needs to take good care of you.”
Gray eyes quickly scanned her elegant face, but she soon had to look down.
This was because Queen Beatrix, standing behind the Princess, was watching the Countess with a cool and cold gaze.
'Remember well. Who is the superior?'
At the Queen's clear intention, Countess Timberline's head finally turned downward.
Meanwhile, Noah was reading Wilhelm's statement.
Without reading anything further, it was just as Meson had said.
“What kind of a funny kid is this? Is he saying you should have drowned in that ocean?!”
Noah laughed at Leonard's sharp words.
“That’s what it looks like. Maybe that’s what he was hoping for.”
“The crown of the foolish Polia King has been thrown to the ground, and it seems that all royal families are being made to look ridiculous.”
The men had the same thought and the same expression on their faces for the first time in a long time.
When Noah nodded to Meson, who was standing next to him, Meson immediately placed a copy of the document in front of Leonard.
"I had contracts to transfer investment funds to Wilhelm on four occasions. Half of those funds have already been invested, and the remaining half remains. Ansen will likely assume he can compensate for the remaining funds even if they disappear. At the end of the document, there's a list of people who can provide funds to Wilhelm. Please help me secure the funds."
"Please also issue a statement. There was a mechanical defect in the Magic Dome itself. If you insist there was no such defect, then present proof."
Leonard nodded as Usher added.
"First, warn Wilhelm, and if they ignore that warning, notify them of the suspension of investment. Noah."
"All right."
Leonard and Noah looked at each other with identical faces.
If there is an enemy outside, isn't it natural for the inside to become more solid?
Olivia slowly looked around the ornate room, her mouth threatening to open, and she forced herself to close it. Lucy, looking back at Olivia, opened her mouth.
“Olivia, you can look around as much as you want.”
Since Olivia had been granted the title of Princess, Lucy could no longer refer to her by her nickname. This was private, so she was addressed by her first name, but in public, she was expected to be respectful.
Olivia smiled at Lucy's words. Lucy led her around the room, adding explanations.
"This is something my father bought me when he came back from Lotte. And this is a doll that my brother Usher bought on his tour, and that one was bought by my brother Noah."
The dolls, so magnificent that they were enough to make your eyes widen just by looking at them, were lined up like exhibits. The highlight was a doll castle so large it rivaled Olivia's height.
“There are a ton of little rabbit dolls inside this castle. If you spread them out like this...”
Lucy pried open a seam and pushed one side of the castle, and to her surprise, the castle split in half, revealing its interior.
"Oh, my god."
As Olivia let out a blank exclamation, Lucy took her hand and led her along.
"This is the rabbit bedroom, dressing room, bathroom, and banquet hall. When you open this dressing room, it's amazing~."
“Is this a real dress?”
"Yes. You can actually wear them all. Want to give it a try?"
“Is that so?”
Lucy smiled and selected a few stuffed rabbits, then took out a dress and some accessories. Since this was a little Princess's toy room, it was arranged so that anyone could comfortably sit on the floor. The two sat in front of the castle and changed the rabbit dolls' clothes.
While they were playing around, changing clothes, Lucy opened her mouth.
“Do you remember when I dressed up a rabbit doll in a carriage two years ago?”
“Yes, Princess. Where are those dolls?”
“I put them away neatly. When I told him I liked rabbits, my father bought me this castle and some rabbits.”
“I hope you enjoyed it.”
"...yes."
Olivia glanced up at the delayed reply. The Princess, who had been expected to play with her dolls with excitement, was now merely poking the doll's ears with a bored expression.
That was when.
There was a knock on the door, and before Olivia and Lucy could even get up, it opened. It was none other than Noah.
“Brother!”
When Lucy called him in a bright voice, Noah smiled brightly at his sister. His gaze fell on Olivia, who was just getting up.
Olivia sat in front of the magnificent castle, holding a stuffed rabbit just like hers. Seeing Olivia playing with Lucy in the room filled with a gentle fragrance, the unpleasant feeling that had been building up within him for a moment vanished.
Noah opened his mouth, admiring the peaceful scenery.
“Liv, let’s go back now.”
"Already?"
Noah approached his younger sister at the sound of Lucy's voice, which was filled with regret.
“Isn’t it time for you to go to class soon?”
“...I don’t even know if it’s a class or what. Did you guys learn how to embroider on handkerchiefs?”
"No."
“But why do I have to do this? Don’t they teach that in school?”
Lucy didn't seem to be expecting an answer, just slumped her shoulders and sighed.
Olivia stared blankly at Lucy, then bent her knees and met her eyes.
“I’ll be back again, Princess.”
The Princess, who had been clinging to her for a while two years ago, had grown up and stopped whining.
“Yes, Olivia. Please come again.”
Noah turned around first, carelessly messing up Lucy's hair, and Lucy quietly watched the two of them walk away.
Just before leaving the room, Olivia turned her head and looked around.
She never seen such a splendid toy room before. She never imagined such a thing existed. But the owner of the room just looked bored.
Olivia gave Lucy another nod as she looked at her, then left the room.
Olivia had already paid her respects to the Queen before going to Lucy's toy room, so she followed Noah straight out of the palace. As they walked down the long corridor, Olivia asked a question.
“Have you resolved the problem?”
“I told you not to worry about it.”
Olivia bit her lip, wanting to ask more, but in front of Noah, who drew a clean line, she ultimately chose silence.
As the two reached the end of the cool, breezy corridor, Noah suddenly stopped walking and frowned.
“Your Highness!”
Olivia's gaze fell on the person calling Noah. At the same time, her brow hardened.
She's not sure since they only passed each other briefly, but seeing their faces, she thinks she met them two years ago. Either at the banquet hall or in the maze.
After the three men disappeared, Beatrix personally served Olivia tea.
