SOIC - Chapter 84

Episode 84. The Princess's First Fight

Olivia straightened her back, tightening her grip on her stomach. Two years ago, running away would have been the best option, but that was no longer possible.

Noah stared at the men running towards him, his eyes filled with excitement. Feeling their gazes constantly drawn to Olivia, he took a step forward.

Iel Poem and Lawrence Atham stopped in front of Noah and bowed politely.

“Your Highness, the Prince.”

Noah nodded slightly at the polite greeting, and the two immediately turned their gaze to Olivia. Noah was watching them intently.

“Your Highness, the Princess, I greet you. My name is Iel Poem.”

“Hello, Your Highness. My name is Lawrence Atham.”

Olivia nodded slightly in greeting, her heart pounding.

“Hello. Sir Poem, Sir Atham.”

“Thank you for your hard work on your long journey. Although it's late, I sincerely congratulate you on your wedding.”

Noah stared at Lawrence's sullen lips, feeling the discomfort that had briefly vanished creep back up. After all, there was no way a man who had been rambling about Olivia for years could have earned any respect he had never had before.

"Let's go, Liv. I'll see you guys next time. Call me if there's a polo game."

As Noah gave a brief greeting, Lawrence quickly grabbed him.

“Oh, I came to see Your Highness because of Polo!”

“There’s a match in an hour. Let’s play together for the first time in a while, Your Highness.”

Noah, who was about to head home with Olivia, paused for a moment at those words. He'd been longing to play a game of polo anyway. The only reason he stayed connected with these guys was because of polo.

“It’s been a while since you’ve been here, hasn’t it?”

Noah stood there for a moment, as if pondering, then turned to Olivia, who was beside him.

“Yes, then...”

Lawrence, who saw that, quickly spoke to Olivia.

“Let’s go together, Your Highness!”

"You-."

Noah's eyes lit up, but Lawrence, whose purpose for the visit had been Olivia, tried to ignore his gaze and quickly continued speaking.

"Have you ever seen a polo game? His Highness the Prince plays incredibly well. Many young ladies come here just to watch. Let's go together."

Iel also caught the wind by beating the janggu.

"That's right. It's not uncommon for couples to attend polo matches, isn't it? Count Ludwig, who got married a few months ago, brings his wife along whenever he plays. Why don't you two come together today?"

The two prodigal sons saw through the Prince's feelings, who desperately wanted to play polo, but was reluctant to take Olivia with him.

Since he hadn't played in months, Noah was sure he'd come play polo. Then, Olivia would just show up, so there was no need to cling to him.

Olivia calmly looked at the two passionate people's gazes, then turned to Noah.

He glared at the two of them, his face hard. Then, sensing Olivia's gaze, he slowly rolled his eyes and looked back at her.

“...What do you want to do, Liv?”

Clearly, he didn't want her to go with him. He wanted her to just quietly go back to the mansion.

But Olivia vaguely felt that this was just the beginning. The longer you hesitate, the more fearful you become. There's no avoiding it, and when you can't avoid it, it's better to face it head-on.

Olivia smiled softly, ignoring Noah's gaze.

“I want to go there too.”

At her words, Noah's gaze cooled, and Iel and Lawrence's faces brightened.

Jackson Coleman was in front of Isabelle's eyes.

"The mansion my father promised me would inherit has a very large pond. If you have any favorite fish, just tell me, Young Lady. I'll buy as many as you want and fill them with them."

His oily face and gloomy, clouded eyes seemed filled with nothing but base, evil intentions. The sight of him constantly waving his chubby hands, flaunting his father's wealth, was simply hilarious.

He spoke as if Isabelle were already his wife, and it made her sick.

Isabelle kept thinking of Noah Astrid throughout her encounter with Jackson Coleman. It seemed like it was the only way she could endure it.

“I like naturally demure women. Just like a young lady!”

“...”

“I also like that you don’t talk much. I really hate women who talk too much.”

Time, which she wished would just end, passed so slowly. When the appointed time arrived, and Jackson Coleman rose from his seat, Isabelle felt a surge of joy.

But when he kissed the back of her hand with his moist lips, a chill ran down her spine. If even a simple kiss on the back of her hand could make her feel this way, could she really marry him?

“If not him, you will have to go to the provinces.”

Her mother's words stabbed her heart like a knife.

After Jackson Coleman left, Isabelle sat down in her chair and drew Noah.

If you had reached out to me, this tragedy wouldn't have happened. I would still be a proud daughter, your devoted and loving wife.

As she was struggling in the abyss over her unanswerable family problems, news arrived.

News arrived that Prince Noah had returned to the capital. As far as she knew, a polo match was scheduled for today.

He hasn't played polo in a while, so if she knows Noah, he'll definitely come play some polo.

You can't go, and you can't meet.

But...

Does he truly love the Princess? Was their honeymoon a happy one? What kind of face will he make when he returns from his honeymoon?

To Isabelle, Noah Astrid was an irresistible force. Her feelings for him grew like snow. It was soft and warm.

But snow that misses the moment to melt loses its initial warmth and becomes hard like a rock.

Isabelle eventually stormed out of the mansion.

“Where should I take you, miss?”

“Let’s go to the polo club.”

She's so uncomfortable that she could die.

Meson, hunched over in the corner of the carriage, glanced at Noah and Olivia. Noah, seated next to him, crossed his long legs elegantly, his gaze fixed outside the window.

Olivia, sitting across from Noah, sat quietly with her eyes wide open.

It was clearly a peaceful scene with nothing special, but it was terribly uncomfortable.

What's the point of telling the reason? It was because of Noah.

Olivia stared at Noah with a cool air for a while, but eventually she couldn't hold it in any longer and opened her mouth.

“If it’s too inconvenient for me to go with you, I’ll go to the mansion right now.”

Noah, who had been looking out the window, rolled his eyes and looked at her.

Meson turned his head as far as he could, staring at the wall, and closed his eyes. Should he get off now?

Noah's gaze lingered on his wife's transparent face.

Is Olivia, quick-witted, following me because she can't read my mood? I know that's not true. Is she following me because she's curious about the polo match? More likely, she's following me because she's determined to learn cards if she has to.

The vulgar remarks that Iel Poem and Lawrence Atham had been making about Olivia were ringing in his ears again. And now the club they were going to was filled with prodigal sons just as despicable as those two.

He vaguely understood why his father kept Lucy in the toy room. It was a sanctuary filled with harmless things.

Noah sighed briefly and opened his mouth.

"You will meet nobles and form relationships in the future, but you don't need to connect with everyone. The place you're going now is full of people you have no reason to connect with."

“...”

“It was hasty to say that you would follow me.”

Olivia bit her lip at Noah's clear point and then apologized.

"I'm sorry."

Noah remained silent at her apology.

A good way would be for him to drop out of the polo game, and then things would be resolved.

But on the other hand, Olivia's thoughts weren't wrong. Even though she had no reason to form a relationship with them, they were people she would eventually encounter. They were all members of the nobility.

Moreover, even if Olivia remained silent, there was a high possibility that he would exert himself and come after her. In that case, it would be better to confront him directly.

“You can’t come back now, so listen carefully. Think about it, everything in there is trash.”

"... Yes?"

"There's no need to bother trying to join the group and strike up a conversation. Meson, you're right there with Olivia."

Meson, who had been keeping his gaze down, quickly answered.

"All right."

“If you see any sign of nonsense, just hit them. I’ll take care of the consequences.”

“We also dismantled the Magic Dome machine room, so don’t worry about that.”

Although Meson had deliberately tried to make a joke, the air inside the carriage was still heavy.

And after a while, a carriage carrying the two arrived at the polo club, and Olivia got out of the carriage, holding Noah's hand.

Olivia took a slow breath and looked up at the triangular roof with its carved angel statues and the grand main gate.

“Your Highness!”

As a group of men approached from afar, Olivia's whole body stiffened. But she didn't back down.

"Listen carefully, young lady. If you leave everything to His Highness the Prince, you will cease to exist. The Prince is your spouse, but a spouse is merely a companion. Your fight is yours alone. Remember that."

Remembering Mrs. Winfred's advice, Olivia straightened her posture and smiled sociably, as she had been practicing.
