Queen Of Villains - Chapter 88

Killian, who was following the blue light, found Emily there, groaning in pain.

“Emily!”

There was no time to think about why she was lying here or what this blue light was.

Killian ran over and picked up Emily, who was lying on the floor, but she had already lost consciousness and collapsed.

Roger, who followed behind, checked Emily's pulse.

"It doesn't seem like her life is in danger yet. We need to get her to a safe place quickly."

The horse, of all people, was tied up on the other side of the mountain. Killian, pressed for time, felt his heart burn.

“Put Emily on my back.”

“But the slope is steep, so it could be dangerous for both of you.”

“Isn’t there any other way!”

Killian was on the verge of losing his mind.

Roger swallowed hard at the sight, thought for a moment, and eventually nodded.

“...Yes. Then I’ll go down first.”

As Killian was about to lift Emily, the sound of horse hooves was heard nearby.

“Damn it, who is it?”

The Starr organization members watched in that direction, tense at the sound of someone approaching.

“Isn’t that the Duke of Sadie?”

Roger said, narrowing his eyes as if trying to get a closer look.

Even from afar, a tall man on horseback was approaching them.

“Marquis Starr!”

He was, as Roger had said, the Duke of Sadie, as seen up close.

Charles was also in the area, following Emily's whereabouts, when he saw a suspicious light and came here.

“Is the woman in your arms really your wife?”

Charles hurriedly dismounted from his horse and asked.

Normally, the appearance of a rival would have made him nervous, but now he was in no position to be picky. Killian immediately asked Charles for help.

“Emily has lost consciousness. We need to get her to the village quickly.”

Now the suspicious light had subsided, but Emily still couldn't come to her senses.

Charles quickly scanned Emily's appearance.

Her body was limp and limp. If it weren't for the cold sweat and flushed cheeks, he would have thought she was dead.

“Please put it in front of me.”

Charles was the first to mount the horse and extend his hand.

Killian couldn't shake the longing from his eyes even as he handed Emily over to him.

If it weren't for these circumstances, Killian really wouldn't have entrusted Emily to him.

Charles picked up Emily as if he was snatching her from Killian, leaned her back against him, and wrapped one arm around her tightly to keep her from falling.

The road was too narrow to allow for a horse to run, but it was still easier to get Emily down the mountain than if he had walked.

Roger, who had just finished contacting Giovanni through the communication channel, rushed to Charles.

"If you go down the mountain, you'll find the people I contacted. Can you find the entrance you came from and get down there?"

“You worry about everything.”

As a sword master, his intuition was far superior to that of ordinary people. This was also true when it came to finding his way.

“Then I’ll go down first.”

Charles exchanged a glance with Killian and then headed down the mountain.

After Charles left, Killian's momentum grew more fierce.

He couldn't tell if it was anger at Giuliano, anger at Charles, or anger at himself.

Roger asked, carefully observing his complexion.

“How should we move?”

"You go straight to the village with me. The rest of you, find the horses and come down to the village. Follow the cross sign, and it won't be difficult."

"All right!"

The members of the organization dispersed, and Killian also quickened his steps.

Meanwhile, Charles continued to observe Emily's complexion as he descended the mountain.

In Killian's arms, the blue light that had faded reappeared. At the same time, Emily's pain began to return.

Charles grew impatient as she frowned and let out a pained groan.

“Damn it. Emily, wake up!”

But she was so confused that she had no idea where she was or what situation she was in.

“You’re almost there, so just hold on a little longer.”

Charles gritted his teeth and grabbed Emily as she tried to fall to the floor.

Charles, who had finally made it down the mountain, was finally able to meet the people Roger had contacted.

“Are you from the Starr family?”

“Yes, my name is Giovanni. Thank you for your help.”

Charles quickly examined their attire.

Judging by the button with the wolf seal on it, it was definitely someone from the Starr organization.

Giovanni looked worriedly at Emily in Charles's arms.

Although the identity of the strange blue light was questionable, he had to get his lady to a safe place as soon as possible.

“I have secured lodging in the village of Henne and have placed a doctor on standby. I will escort you by carriage.”

Giovanni, who had received Emily from Charles, carefully placed her in the carriage.

Just as they were about to leave in a hurry, Killian arrived at the bottom of the mountain.

"Boss!"

The members of the organization, who had been worried when Killian disappeared, finally breathed a sigh of relief when they saw him.

Killian got into Emily's carriage without giving Charles a chance to do anything.

Then Charles's eyebrows twitched without him knowing.

It wasn't something he had hoped for, but things were turning out unsettlingly.

Meanwhile, the carriage, having heard Killian's signal, set off without delay.

“Ha. That’s ridiculous.”

Charles also immediately followed the carriage on horseback.

Thanks to the organizers having prepared the route in advance, the carriage was able to arrive at the lodging faster than expected.

“Come this way!”

The servant at the inn quickly guided them to a room on the second floor.

Emily, lying on the bed, looked like a total mess.

Her clothes were in rags, and there were scratches all over her face and body.

Killian couldn't even bring himself to touch Emily's wounds. His hands, suspended in midair, were trembling.

“Fortunately, there are no visible deep traumatic wounds.”

The female doctor who came running to examine Emily said, while examining her body.

“But why did she lose consciousness?”

“It could be a sign of dehydration... or it could be that she collapsed due to accumulated fatigue, so I think it would be best to observe her for a day.”

She wiped Emily's body with a warm towel and changed her into clean clothes.

“Don't worry too much, she'll be fine soon. I'll be by her side monitoring her condition.”

It was a sort of summons to leave, telling Emily to get some rest.

Killian forced himself to take unsteady steps and walked out the door.

Outside, Charles was pacing up and down the hallway, looking anxious.

As soon as Killian came out of the room, Charles immediately walked up to him.

“Yes, how is your wife’s body?”

“Fortunately, they say there are no major problems.”

Killian didn't want to talk, and he didn't know why he was there, but he was still helpful, so thankfully, he answered politely.

Charles' expression was filled with anger as he heard the general situation from Killian.

“I won’t let anyone who plotted this go unpunished, but you know that the Marquis also bears a great deal of responsibility, don’t you?”

His words were heard even by Roger, who was walking down the hallway.

Roger was dumbfounded and questioned Charles.

“We were indeed able to bring Madam back safely thanks to the Duke, but I think you are being too presumptuous in your marital affairs.”

"You're the one who should stop meddling so presumptuously. From now on, I'll be responsible for Emily."

"Yes?"

At Charles's words, Roger looked back at Killian with a blank expression and asked.

“Killian, what does all that mean?”

Killian just stared at Charles coldly without saying anything.

Then one corner of Charles's mouth went up.

Charles perhaps saw their divorce as an opportunity to untangle the tangled threads of their relationship. After all, he was supposed to be Emily's match.

And above all, it was dangerous for Emily to be by Killian's side.

This incident made that more certain.

"As soon as Emily gets better, I'll take her to Sadie's estate. I'll finalize the divorce proceedings there, so please understand."

Charles said that and then turned around and walked away.

Roger kept gasping for breath at his confident attitude.

"Killian, please speak. What right does Duke Sadie have to say such things?"

“If I divorced her, I was going to ask the Duke to take care of my wife.”

"Yes?"

Roger looked at Killian with his mouth wide open.

“Because the Duke is the only one in the Empire with the power to protect Emily, besides me.”

“But that’s not what Madam wants.”

Even without further explanation, he could sense that Roger was holding back harsh insults.

“I know. I regret it now, too.”

He thought it would be okay to send her as long as it ensured Emily's safety.

But hearing it directly from Charles's mouth that he would take Emily away made him feel even worse.

All the negative emotions in the world churned through him. He was more petty and fatal than he thought.

“So, are you withdrawing your decision to divorce?”

Roger asked in a hopeful tone.

“If she allows.”

Having been on the verge of losing her, he felt like he could never let her go.

But to be together, he must confess his past to Emily.

Killian wondered if Emily would still be with him after hearing all that.

Killian was about to go outside to clear his head and gather his thoughts when he saw people coming up in a hurry.

It was Knox and Grandma Juliet.

"Knox. I told you to keep an eye on Chiron, so why are you here?"

When Killian scolded him, Knox quickly waved his arms and cut him off.

"He's being guarded by Ivan! First, please guide this old lady to where Madam is."

Only then did Killian's gaze fall on Juliet.

“You said there was a blue flash when you found her?”

Juliet, who met Killian's eyes, immediately asked that question. She had probably overheard it by chance during her communication with Knox.

“Yes, but...”

Killian answered with a trailing edge.

He doesn't know why on earth Juliet would ask such a thing, but he feels uneasy for some reason.

“How are you feeling now? Didn’t you say your heart hurt?”

Come to think of it, he thinks Emily complained of pain when she collapsed.

As Killian's eyebrows twitched, Juliet's face quickly hardened as she took it as affirmation.

“I need to see that kid quickly. Right now.”
