Queen Of Villains - Chapter 87

Her body wasn't tired.

Even though it was a dark night, the view was clear.

But since her body temperature continued to drop, Emily decided to find a suitable place and take a nap. Apparently, her improved physical strength didn't necessarily mean her body temperature remained constant.

“Does this place look okay?”

Luckily, she found a small cave. Water dripped from the cave ceiling. Watching the dripping water made her suddenly thirsty.

“Is there anything I can get water from?”

Emily looked around and found a rock with a concave hole in the middle.

“...Can I really lift that?”

Emily, who had experienced an unusual power today, lifted the rock with a hopeful heart.

The rock sounded so light.

Although she was wondering, she placed the rock right below where the water was falling.

Then water began to collect on the stone.

She couldn't tell if there was some strange power in this forest or if she had just acquired some strange power.

Emily watched the water pooling in her eyes, then dozed off.

***

She had a dream.

The background was Mount Pirata.

“Killian!”

In her dream, Emily ran desperately, calling out to Killian. Behind her, members of Giuliano's organization were in hot pursuit.

No matter how hard she ran, it seemed impossible to gain any more speed because her belly was swollen.

So, it seems that the woman in the dream was not the real her, but Emily from the original work.

She didn't know how she escaped, but it seemed like Emily, like in her dream, had gained extraordinary strength.

When the organization members were almost caught up, suddenly a blue light burst out from Emily's body, and the surroundings turned pure white.

Taking advantage of the blinding light that blinded the pursuers, Emily, in her dream, ran again.

“Ugh!”

Early pregnancy has begun.

Emily was wandering around looking for a suitable place when she discovered a cave.

She entered the cave, sweating profusely, and tore off her skirt, spreading it on the floor. Fearing her screams might lead her pursuers to her, she tore off her petticoat again and stuffed it in her mouth.

Killian found Emily just before she gave birth and lost consciousness. Emily closed her eyes in relief as soon as she saw Killian.

Killian hurriedly took the mother and child to the nearest clean accommodation.

But Emily never opened her eyes again.

Emily's body was so hot that he couldn't even touch it, and after repeatedly fainting, she eventually died.

***

Emily woke up from her dream and was in tears.

She wiped her cheek and walked towards the rock she'd moved. The water, already full, was now flowing out.

First, she drank some water and briefly washed her face with the remaining water. The cold water brought her back to her senses.

Suddenly, Emily looked around the cave. The interior was exactly like the cave from her dream.

So did Emily in the original story also take refuge here?

She was so anxious that she thought she was going crazy because the situation kept becoming similar to the original.

'Were all my efforts to avoid the original route in vain?'

Emily felt like she was about to burst into tears again, but she held it back. There was no more water to wash her face with.

'By the way, what on earth is that blue light?'

In her dream, a blue light burst out again just before she died.

Maybe in the original, Emily's death wasn't due to puerperal fever. Because...

“She kept saying her heart hurt.”

Maybe it has something to do with the blue light? Anyway, she has to get out of this ominous cave.

Emily gathered her belongings once more and came out of the cave.

The sun was rising.

Meanwhile, Killian continued walking in the direction Rex had instructed.

“I’m going in the direction you told me, but if I don’t find her by the end of the day, you’re dead.”

Rex looked indifferent to Roger's threats.

“Even if you find her, you’re just going to kill him, right?”

Whether he finds Emily or not, whether he stays here or returns to the Giuliano organization, he's dead anyway.

"Please take off this dog collar before you kill me. Even if I die, I want to die honorably as a mafia member."

Rex pointed to the rope around his neck. Being dragged around like a dog was incredibly humiliating.

"The Giuliano Organization had no pride in the first place, did they? The moment you kidnapped a vulnerable woman, you lost all sense of honor."

Roger spat out coldly.

After walking and walking like that, Rex's feet finally stopped.

"This is the point. I chased your wife here, but then she suddenly disappeared."

“Is this information reliable?”

Killian asked Rex. His voice was still low and menacing, but his eyes were filled with impatience.

“Yes! So please kill me normally.”

Killian ignored his words and spoke to his subordinate.

“Tie him up.”

"Yes!"

They brought a long rope from somewhere and tied his body tightly to a tree.

“...How do you plan to kill me?”

Question marks floated over Rex's head.

“You will be tied up here until we find Madam.”

Instead of Killian, who had just left to find Emily, one of the Starr members explained.

“If we find Madam, your life will be spared, but if we can’t find her... We’ll make you suffer so much that you’ll beg to be killed.”

“What did you say?”

Rex's eyes widened. He had a choice: to spare him!

“Hey! Don’t go there, go down there!”

Rex pointed more actively than before in the direction where Emily had disappeared.

Killian, who was going in the direction Rex had told him, found a broken branch at one point.

The Forest of Recovery is a place where everything is restored to its original state in an instant, so no matter how many people walk, no paths appear. However, there was one exception.

The trees themselves were slow to recover. Faster than those in other forests, but not so fast that a cut tree would regrow quickly.

The branch was in pristine condition. It appeared to have been broken not long ago. Killian looked around to see where it had broken.

'This is it.'

Killian examined the broken cross-section of the tree. It had broken off towards the steep slope.

"No way."

He went down the slope, keeping his balance.

“Be careful!”

Roger, who was following Killian down, shouted.

A little further down, and there was a cliff right below. Killian looked down the cliff with a blank expression.

He hopes not, but if Emily ran away and fell off that cliff...

Killian's eyes burned with rage. He quickly climbed up the slope and pulled out his gun, intending to rush over and shoot Rex in the head.

“Killian!”

One of his men quickly came up to his side.

“I found something.”

At those words, the truly calm Killian put the gun back in his pocket and followed him.

He pointed to a tree trunk marked with an 'X'.

“It looks like someone marked it with a knife to keep from getting lost.”

The cut was too deep for Emily to have left it. Among women, only someone with the strength of Roxy could have inflicted such a deep wound.

“But just in case, why don’t we follow the signs?”

Roger, who had come closer without him noticing, also carefully opened his mouth.

"Yes."

It was a case of losing money.

Perhaps concerned that Giuliano's organization might follow them, the markings were aligned almost in the same direction as the wood grain, making it difficult to spot without paying close attention.

Fortunately, the subordinate who discovered this sign was a former member of the search party. Incidentally, despite his exceptional skills, he was unable to overcome the limitations of being a commoner and ended up infiltrating a mafia organization.

“The sign is broken here.”

At his words, the organization members began to search the area thoroughly. While exploring with him, Killian discovered a small cave.

Somehow, it felt too much to ignore. Killian cautiously entered the cave. Contrary to his expectations, there was no one inside. The only sound was the trickle of water dripping onto the rocks.

It was time for him to come out again, carrying his disappointment.

“What is that?”

The members of the organization were pointing to one side of the mountain and making a fuss.

A blue light was spreading right near where they were.

***

Emily was gripped by fear.

It was clear that at first it was only visible temporarily on the tips of the fingers, but now the blue light was shimmering all over the body.

She also remembered the scene in her dream where Emily died while the blue light exploded.

"I'm scared."

Emily collapsed, sobbing. She no longer had the will to run away.

But she didn't want to die alone in this deserted mountain. She hadn't even been able to say a proper goodbye to the Sinope people and the Starr family.

“Ugh.”

Emily, who had been crying for a long time, suddenly clutched her heart.

Just like in her dream, her heart began to tighten as if it were going to burst.

“Oh, it hurts...”

Emily's body tilted to the side.

The pain was so intense that she could barely breathe. Just as she was about to lose consciousness, she saw someone running towards her from afar.

“Did I get caught...?”

Tears streamed down Emily's cheeks as she thought they were members of Giuliano's organization who had come to capture her.

Someone grabbed her shoulder and shook her, but her vision narrowed, and he couldn't open her eyes.

Emily's world was turned dark like that.
