Queen of Villains - Chapter 44

The new carriage, purchased for long-distance travel, was much larger than the old one, and the seats were plush, and the backrests were quite ergonomic.

Emily slowly fell into a deep sleep as the carriage rocked steadily, allowing the carriage to quickly reach the Sinope estate without a break.

The historic Sinope Mansion was shaped like the letter 'ㄷ' with a large fountain in the center.

Flowers and trees that seemed to have been carefully tended for a long time beautifully decorated the surroundings, so a pleasant fragrance wafted through her nose whenever the wind blew.

A scent reminiscent of a field of purple flowers, like violets and hyacinths, mixed with the scent of grass. It was a sweet, warm, and dreamy scent.

Killian thought that this scent resembled Emily.

In front of the Sinope mansion, a nanny, a butler, and familiar-looking servants were waiting to greet them.

“Oh my, miss!”

As soon as the nanny saw Emily's face, she ran over and wiped her tears away.

“How have you been, Nanny?”

Emily held the nanny's hand warmly. As she exchanged greetings with the nanny, the butler followed suit and bowed.

“Are you here?”

The normally polite butler didn't show as much emotion as the nanny, but his voice was trembling slightly with emotion.

“It’s been a while, butler.”

Emily quickly introduced them to Killian.

“Hello everyone, this is my husband.”

“Yes, welcome.”

Their demeanor was extremely polite, but their expressions couldn't hide their nervousness. Killian accepted their attitude, but Emily was perplexed.

“And this person is here to help Toto with his business.”

Emily also introduced Pete to them. Since she said he was someone who could help with the business, the people's reaction was much more favorable than before.

Emily's lips pout at the different reaction from when they had met Killian.

Emily was about to reveal that it was Killian who brought Pete, but Killian carefully grabbed her elbow and stopped her.

“If you told them I was the one who introduced Pete, you wouldn’t trust him.”

But Emily's expression didn't lighten easily, as if she couldn't help feeling upset by Killian's words.

The butler, who witnessed the young lady's condition rapidly deteriorating, quickly took action.

“You must be tired, so let’s take you inside.”

Under the butler's command, the servants began to carry the luggage inside the carriage.

“I prepared separate bedrooms for you two. Is that okay?”

The butler approached Emily and asked.

“Yes, it’s okay.”

He might be surprised to learn that they've never shared a room before.

"Then I will show you to the Master's room. You, young lady, follow the nanny."

Just then, the nanny came to Emily's side carrying her suitcase.

“The young lady’s room is just as it was before you left.”

The nanny's steps seemed very light, as if she were excited that Emily had returned to Sinope.

"See you later at dinner. After dinner, I'll show you around the mansion."

Before entering the mansion, Emily approached Killian and spoke to him in a loud voice so that people could hear.

It seemed that she was bothered by the fact that the people of Sinope were not kind to Killian.

"All right."

Killian, who realized Emily's intentions, chuckled.

Emily buried her face in the bed, smelling her own bedding for the first time in a long time.

“Are you so happy to be home?”

“Yeah, of course.”

“Please look forward to lunch later, which will be filled with your favorite dishes.”

Emily stretched and turned to face the front.

“Please leave out strong-smelling vegetables like celery and chicory. My husband doesn’t like them very much.”

The nanny glanced at Emily without any ill will.

“You’re really stuck in.”

“What’s missing?”

“I told you ever since you were little not to be so swayed by a man’s appearance.”

“That’s not it... No! And isn’t it natural for a wife to take care of her husband?”

A pleased smile appeared on the nanny's face as she listened quietly to Emily's words.

"It's reassuring to see you and your husband getting along so well. That's right! Since you're married, it's best to live happily together."

“I told you it wasn’t like that...”

Regardless, the nanny's eyes suddenly became moist as if she was overcome with emotion.

"It's been almost a year since you got married, young lady. I'm sure the Count would be delighted to see this."

“Is it already like that?”

"It's been a year, so if the marriage is going well, it's time for the baby to come in. Why isn't the baby coming in?"

“Oh, a baby!”

The nanny looked at her with suspicion at her excessive jumping around.

“Why are you feeling so embarrassed all of a sudden?”

'I overdid it without realizing it.'

Emily said, hesitantly.

“No, it’s because the nanny is saying strange things.”

“It’s a natural thing to talk about once you get married. There’s no way you haven’t slept together before.”

“Huh? Yeah, that’s true!”

The look of embarrassment was very suspicious.

“You haven’t even had your first night yet?”

Others might not know, but the nanny who raised her since infancy has a knack for intuition. When Emily couldn't say anything, she rubbed her forehead as if it hurt.

“Who is the problem, the young lady or the Marquis?”

Emily, about to answer that it was her problem, paused for a moment. Thinking about it, she had been avoiding sex for a reason. Why hadn't Killian asked for it yet?

“...Nanny, am I unattractive as a woman?”

The nanny's face turned red and blue at Emily's gloomy words.

"Have you seen this world's most shameless person? If you've taken a precious young lady, you deserve to be treated like a queen. How dare he ignore you?"

Emily was startled to see her nanny about to leave the room, so she quickly grabbed her arm and sat her down.

“No, Nanny? Don’t get excited and sit down.”

The nanny banged her fist on her chest.

“Don’t stop me. I really can’t control my anger!”

“I also made some mistakes.”

“What did you do wrong, Miss!”

Emily answered with a look of intimidation at her nanny's aura.

“I avoided my wedding night.”

“Are you, young lady?”

The nanny looked like she didn't understand at all.

“You were so excited until the night before your wedding that you read all sorts of erotic novels, right?”

"Nanny!"

Emily quickly covered her nanny's mouth and shouted.

“When did I ever expect that!”

Emily couldn't deny that she had read the novel.

“I just did some preparation.”

“Yes, yes.”

The nanny answered roughly and dryly.

“That’s right. You must have prepared so well that there’s nothing more to teach you.”

“Anyway, I suppose that’s what I’m saying, but why doesn’t he mention anything about sleeping together?”

“He must be scared of the first night, like a young lady.”

“What?”

At Emily's seemingly absurd reaction, the nanny laughed and continued speaking.

"Or maybe he's having a hard time? Given the difference in status, he might not know how to treat you unless you approach him first."

Emily pondered her nanny's words. While it was surprising that Killian was having difficulty dealing with her, it sounded quite true.

Things like having difficulty making eye contact for more than 5 seconds or being startled and pulling back when even hands brushed against each other came to mind.

It was a new realization that someone so notorious outside was secretly a coward in front of women. It made Killian feel a little cute.

“It’s not like kids are playing house. Are you saying that you’ve been digging like this all this time and haven’t made any progress?”

The nanny clicked her tongue as if she were pathetic.

“Why is the nanny angry?”

“It’s because it’s frustrating. So, you’re going to spend the rest of your life without ever seeing your husband?”

“That’s not it, but...”

Emily sighed deeply.

'Ugh, I'm frustrated too.'

What good is a husband, no matter how handsome or fit? He's just a pipe dream. Since things have come to this, Emily decided to be honest with her nanny.

“Actually, I’m scared of having a baby.”

The nanny looked puzzled for an unexpected reason.

“So that’s why you avoided sleeping together?”

"Yes."

The nanny clicked her tongue in pity.

“If that’s the case, you should have told me earlier. I’ll get you some birth control pills.”

If you sleep together like that, you'll naturally have a baby eventually. You're having a baby just to be curious about what kind of baby you'll have together.

So the nanny didn't take Emily's worries seriously.

“Would you like me to take care of something for you before you leave?”

“No. We’re not in the mood to share a room yet... I don’t think we’re at the point where we need birth control pills.”

“I’m so frustrated I could die.”

The nanny again struck her chest with her fist.

"Anyway, I'll take care of this myself. Nanny, don't bother getting involved. Got it?"

“Do you know why I am such a nosy person?”

The nanny pretended not to notice, but secretly watched Emily's expression.

The nanny's expression became grave, as it seemed like she would have to make some elaborate plans while they were staying here.

'Just by looking at it, it's obvious that if I didn't step in, this couple would be in trouble for the next ten years.'
