7MIP - Chapter 53

After choosing the fabric, Agatha chose the pattern and ordered the dress to wear for the new season.

"I will have the Marquis suit ready for fitting after taking your measurements.”

“Yes, please take care of it, Madam.”

“See you again soon, Lady Agatha.”

After returning to the mansion, Agatha immediately wrote a letter.

"Dear Mrs. Iris,

It's already the time when fall is fast approaching.

I'm thinking of having a small tea party with some friends soon, and of course, I'd be happy if you would join us.

I'll have some good tea leaves and desserts ready and waiting for you.

Looking forward to a good time.

Agatha Nobilis.

P.S. I wonder where the favor I asked you at the last palace ball of summer will turn out."

In addition to Lady Iris, she also wrote letters to other close associates, including Lady Celia, Lady Vanessa, and Lady Kate.

All those who received Agatha's letter while she was living in seclusion replied that they would attend before evening.

It was her first public social activity in a long time.

“I should get ready to throw a tea party.”

The maids who received the confirmed letter bowed deeply.

“Shall I call Butler Allen?”

“Yeah. I need to work on the garden. I want the view from the terrace to be perfect.”

Agatha looked back and asked the knight standing nearby.

“Sir Leon, can we have a little more escort at the tea party?”

“I will place them around the entrance and terrace.”

"Great."

Agatha checked the condition of the room and garden where the tea party would be held and selected tea leaves and desserts.

A few days later, in the late afternoon.

Several carriages pulled into Agatha's newlywed home.

As if to enjoy the early autumn, today's invited guests, Marchioness Iris Domunia, Duchess Kate Evelyn, Marquis Vanessa Beatriz, Countess Celia Cameron, and Madame Charlotte, were getting out of the carriage, which was finished in slightly dark colors.

“Come in. Madam is waiting inside.”

The butler, Allen, who had been waiting in front of the main mansion, greeted them politely.

“It’s been a while, Allen. Please show me around.”

“Yes. Come this way.”

Madame Iris and her entourage moved to the prepared tea party room.

It was their second visit to Agatha's honeymoon home.

The first was not a proper visit, as they were busy checking on Agatha Nobilis' well-being.

Now they had time to look around.

A hall of flawless marble with frescoes carved under the high ceiling, jewels inlaid in detail, and sunlight streaming down the sculptures.

“Wow, the mansion is really beautiful.”

“Is this also something that Lady Agatha decorated herself?”

Allen smiled happily and opened the door to the room at the end of the hallway. The knights bowed their heads politely.

“Madam, the people you invited have arrived.”

“Welcome, everyone. Did you experience any inconveniences on your way here?”

Agatha, who was sitting on the sofa, greeted them with a bright smile.

It was an impressive room with a blue stone finish and elegantly carved wooden furniture.

“Madame Agatha. It’s been a long time.”

“It was a pleasure to see the mansion. We weren’t late, were we?”

“That’s not true. I’m glad that you like the mansion. Please sit over here.”

There were as many soft couches as there were people, centered around a low, circular table in front of the terrace.

As Agatha sat down first, Marchioness Iris Domunia sat on her left, and Duchess Kate Evelyn sat on her right.

In between were the seats of Marchioness Vanessa Beatriz, Countess Celia Cameron, and Madame Charlotte.

The maids came silently, placed freshly baked scones and freshly brewed warm tea on the tea table, and stepped back.

Madame Iris was the first to speak.

“Lady Agatha, congratulations on your husband’s victory. The whole capital is buzzing with the story.”

“Thank you, Madame Iris. I also heard about it a few days ago when I visited Madame Charlotte’s dressing room.”

“I heard that His Majesty personally congratulated you.”

“Thanks to this, there is now no noble in the capital who is unaware of this news.”

The first topic that came up was, of course, Enoch's victory.

Beginning with Cadden, news of Enoch's victory continued to be heard.

Cadden, Willatt, Mulsherbet, etc.

They were all families belonging to the second in line for the Nobilis succession, and as evidence began to come to light, the second in line's right to succession would soon be stripped away.

Of course, the property other than the land was also to be transferred to the Aratus family.

Lady Vanessa, still young, asked with sparkling eyes.

“I heard that His Majesty has ordered the revocation of their title and that there will be an execution ceremony. Are you planning on holding a public execution?”

“No. It will probably be private. Still, since they are relatives, we should show them mercy on their final journey.”

All the aides let out a weak sigh.

“Lady Agatha is too kind. The other nobles who spread rumors should know this about her.”

“You all know.”

“Oh my God.”

Agatha smiled and picked up her teacup. Although the rumors had died down a lot, there were still rumors that this land war was a conspiracy or a trap.

Agatha sometimes wondered why the rumors, which should have died down soon, were lasting so long.

“Now that I think about it, the rumor has been going on for a long time. I wonder if someone is working behind the scenes.”

“I had been meaning to tell Lady Agatha about what I had recently discovered, and since you invited me at such a good time, I had been waiting for today.”

Mrs. Iris continued, fanning herself.

“It’s a story about the Duke of Neuta’s family.”

Lady Kate responded immediately.

“Is it possible that the Neuta family is behind this rumor?”

“It wasn’t like that at first, but it felt like it was helping to keep the rumors alive.”

“Oh, my goodness. Rabbits don’t know how scared they are of tigers.”

The aides looked at Agatha with a strange smile.

Agatha smiled weakly.

“I think it’s time to get to the main point.”

Agatha put down her teacup with a click and looked at Madame Iris.

“Lady Iris, what happened to the favor I asked you to do on the day of the palace ball?”

Iris Domunia's job was to monitor the activities of the neutral family members that Agatha had connected with when she married into the Neuta family.

There was a smile in Mrs. Iris's eyes.

“There was one person who just caught my eye.”

The eyes of all the aides sitting there sparkled.

“Countess Admar has been frequenting the boutique frequented by Lady Neuta lately.”

“Oh my, aren’t you two people with completely different tastes?”

“I think it was like that in my memory too.”

As for the Countess Admar, she was someone who still maintained a moderate level of friendship with Agatha.

“So that’s what happened.”

The young Lady Vanessa Beatriz interjected, making a meaningful remark.

“I don’t know if you know, but Madame Agatha asked me to keep an eye on the boutiques, shoe stores, and jewelry stores that the Neuta family frequents.”

Lady Vanessa smiled and folded her fan.

“I heard that jewel consumption has been particularly high recently, and it turns out they are being used as gifts. The Admar family was on that list. And it happened several times.”

“Oh my God!”

Then, Duchess Kate Evelyn nodded.

“It’s clear that a lot of money is being spent. The return of the fall social scene is certain, and the consumption of fabrics at the top has also increased significantly.”

“You mean that old cloth?”

“Hohoho!”

The ladies and gentlemen burst into laughter at the same time at Mrs. Iris' joke.

“Anyway, it seems like the three of them are really feeling sorry for Lady Agatha. It seems like they're planning to harass Lady Agatha this season. That’s what I heard.”

With the addition of Madame Charlotte, a source of information in high society and the inner city, a rough estimate was made.

What Agatha's sixth ex-husband, the Duke of Neuta, had said at the summer palace ball was correct.

'The question is where the game will be played out... '

Knock, knock.

Agatha lightly touched the end of the fan. The aides who had stopped laughing were quietly watching her.

Since Neuta also knew of Agatha's influence, specific plans would have been carried out secretly.

It can't be helped that things leak out little by little due to the nature of a large family.

“There was nothing unusual about the flow of funds. Other than spending a lot of gold on dresses and jewelry for the new season, it was the same as usual.”

"Yes."

Finally, after hearing Lady Kate's words, Agatha came to one conclusion.

“Wouldn’t it be better to make sure that preparing anything doesn’t do much good?”

“Well said, Lady Agatha.”

She was wondering what Neuta had prepared that would be so great.

If they had prepared from the beginning, it wouldn't have mattered no matter what they did.

If that doesn't work out, it would be okay to start here first.

“They will approach you too, so we will decide when to move then. So today-”

Agatha smiled brightly, lifting her teacup.

“Shall we enjoy tea time? I think there will be enough to share in the autumn social circle afterward.”

“Yes, that’s a good idea, Madame Agatha.”

“The tea smells really good today. Where did you get it?”
