TCIWTFY - Chapter 21

While the people present were engrossed in various thoughts, she remained calm throughout.

The Queen Mother's expression became even more fierce.

"Are you turning away? Do you really have to be punished to speak properly?"

"If you punish me, I will accept it. I can't say a lie is the truth just to avoid a moment."

Medea's expression was resolute.

Even though her secret private life was exposed, she did not show any shame or even a sense of shock or betrayal at being reported by a maid she trusted.

If you really aren't proud, how can you be so proud?

Maybe they knew something was wrong.

It was a time when people began to have doubts little by little, Medea continued calmly.

"But it's really odd. Madame Cuisine is someone I recently banned for breaking the royal law, and Marieu is someone I excluded and stayed away from because she kept causing trouble."

"..."

"The people who accused me of having a man happened to be these two. Grandma, are you sure they are really telling the truth?"

Then the Queen Mother turned her head towards the head maid and Marieu.

"Oh, no!"

They shouted in unison.

"There is a proof!"

At that time, Sissair's office.

Steam rose from a teacup on a somewhat bleak wooden table.

"So, when are you going to tell me? The reason you came to Valdina."

Cesare stood at the window and slowly stretched out his hand.

The straight index finger swept the frame where the sunlight was breaking into pieces.

"Well, let's just say it's because the weather is beautiful here."

"I would say you came to your senses due to the aftereffects of the war."

Cesare snorted.

"Geez, do you think I don't even have the sensibility to feel beauty?"

"Nonsense."

Sissair put down his teacup.

"If you were such an emotional person, you would have already died in the midnight sun."

"Wow. Why are you doing this again?"

Gallo, who was looking at the decorations on the fireplace, approached giggling.

Tower of the Midnight Sun.

As a universal academy located at the end of the continent, only a very small number of students were accepted, and the entire curriculum was a top secret.

The existence of the tower was finally revealed as graduates spread out across the continent, but most of them were still hidden beneath the surface.

Cesare's origins, age and everything else were shrouded in mystery. He even wore a strange mask all the time, so no one knew his face.

"It's a bargain. Aren't you curious about my face? You're the only one who doesn't ask."

"If that's the case, are you going to take off that mask?"

"No."

"Then there's no reason to ask questions that aren't answered anyway, right? It's inefficient."

"Boss. You're going to tell me to efficiently cut my coffin to the exact size later, right? Huh?"

"You shut up."

Although their time together was short-lived, the three were still quite close.

And after graduating and being scattered for many years. Cesare returned to the continent as a notorious arms dealer.

Although Gallo is the face at the top of the external facade, Cesare is known as a mercenary.

"We knew that the real leader was Cesare. Who can rule over that guy?"

It was the same at the tower. Cesare was always one step back, but no one could easily step in front of him.

Sissair erased the dim memories.

"Explain why Facade's mercenaries are digging into every corner of the castle right now."

Public and private life had to be clearly distinguished. A cold expression lingered behind the monocle.

"You know very well that it makes no sense to keep you here in this wartime situation."

"And I know that your Excellency the Prime Minister of a country, has the power to cover it up."

"Cesare."

"Tell me what you want, merchant."

Cesare spread his hands.

Even though he was obviously a guest, he was relaxed as if he were the owner of the room.

Sissair frowned and crossed his eyebrows.

"It really doesn't suit you."

So Cesare's eyes were calm as if wondering what was going on.

"Bro, do you think our boss would blink at that? Just double swear. At least that will make me feel better."

"Gallo, your fluttering snout is stilI the same."

"Aren't you being too harsh on me?"

While Gallo placed both hands on his chest with shocked eyes, Cesare's drowsy voice rang out.

"The market place is about to close."

Sissair sighed.

He could feel Cesare's sharp anticipation hidden beneath the leisure of watching.

"I need your support."

So now he must tell the truth.

If he continues the play even though he knows he's been caught, he'll tear the curtain apart.

"If Facade takes charge of the rear, we can end the battle before spring comes."

As the war dragged on, Valdina reached its limits both internally and externally.

'Furthermore, the Prince Regent's power has become too strong.'

Even the nobles joined in favor of the Duke Regent, and his power was fiercely increased.

'So we must end the war as soon as possible. Only when His Majesty returns to the capital can he hold on to his shaky throne.'

The situation would have been better if Medea, the King's only sister, had played that role, but the young Princess had long since fallen prey to the regent's deception and became his stooge.

'His Majesty should not have given the Princess a seal.'

What was supposed to be an attempt to protect his sister turned out to be a self-destructive act that tightened the King's leash.

"Dear Sissair."

Cesare looked away.

The smile beneath the silver half-mask was bright.

"Is Valdina capable of paying the bill? It's difficult to try to negotiate a deal through friendship."

If it weren't for the cool voice, he would have mistakenly thought that the man in front of him was happy.

"Besides, that's not all you want, is it?"

The air in the room became cold.

The scattered voice seemed to be cut off and fell to the floor.

"Why did you bother to ignore the empire and come find us? Are you going to use my mercenaries and also use us as a shield? Sir, did you plan well, both internally and externally?"

He immediately figured out Sissair's intention to put up a facade to block Katzen's interference for a while.

"Thank you for the memories. Out of all the people who tried to use me, you are probably the only one alive."

"Then kill me."

Sissair answered with an expressionless face.

"If the facade moves according to my plan with just one head, there will be a lot of business here."

"Ha..."

He didn't know whether what was left was ridicule or lament. The cold has cleared.

"Brother, the thing on my neck is so cumbersome that I'm going to die, right?"

Gallo sarcastically made an absurd face.

Cesare leaned against the wall and looked at his former friend.

"It's a bargain. It's okay if you don't sacrifice your neck. If you say you'll follow me, I'll do it your way."

"I have already sworn allegiance to His Majesty the King."

There was no movement on his face. Cesare, who had already expected rejection due to his stubborn nature, raised the corner of his mouth.

"Do you want to escape Katzen's interference? Then kill the entire delegation and send them back."

"Are you kidding me? Another war? Valdina can't afford that. Even more so with the empire..."

Sissair glared at him through his vivid monocle. Cesare answered in differently.

"It's the same with you that you don't have the fortitude."

If you try to escape half-heartedly, the opponent will get scared and try to put more pressure on you.

Cesare knew well that what determines victory in war is momentum rather than military power.

If Valdina had captured and killed even one of Kazen's royal family members, he would not have been ignored like he is now.

Cesare sighed.

"That's why I said it wasn't for you."

"Yes, yes. You always chose the weak side."

"Weak? Are you saying that even after seeing Valdina's cavalry?"

"Things that are not evil, let's say. Call the world weak."

"..."

Sissair looked at his old friend.

"Cesare, you really. You're reaching the end of your courage."

If he were an ordinary person, he would have admired that cold-blooded man. It was difficult not to.

The endless arrogance, but the ability and talent to back it up, fascinated anyone.

However, they cannot take a risky gamble with the survival of their country.

"Besides, this mission is accompanied by the Princess of Katzen, the Grand Duke, and the general. It is difficult to exterminate without the SS."

"Either change the target."

Cesare shrugged.

"What about the first Prince? They say death comes to everyone ."

"The first Prince of Katzen? Are you sane to say this?"

The devil of war who conquered dozens of small kingdoms at the age of less than 20?

Sissair thought he was too arrogant.

"Hmm, hmm!"

Gallo coughed loudly.

His eyes flickered brightly towards Cesare. As if asking him if he was crazy.

Crack. Tap, tap!

"Your Excellency, Your Royal Highness!"

At that time, the door to the office burst open.
