IDMH - Chapter 18

I Decide My Husband

When something auspicious happens, you should raise a toast, but it's still too early.

I've only just put the first button in place.

Besides, Chernosor would soon bring Adele, so Daimon refrained from drinking any more wine.

It is not too late to give a proper toast if you have 'it' in your hand.

An hour before the train arrived in the capital, Daimon summoned the chamberlain and gave orders.

"The Second Prince will be bringing an important guest, so prepare a grand luncheon."

"Yes, Your Majesty.”

I told the Empress to prepare a gift for Adele Leopold, and she must have prepared it.

While I was thinking about what else I could do to win Adele's favor other than gifts, the servant reported that Viscount Bradley had returned with Chernosor.

"Oh, yes. Right Now......."

Daimon stood up with a smile, but belatedly noticed something strange in the attendant's words and asked.

"Did you say that only Viscount Bradley and the 2nd Prince have returned?"

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"What about Adele Leopold?"

"Lady Leopold did not come with us."

"What?"

What kind of nonsense is this?

Chernosor had clearly said that he would return to the imperial palace with Adele.

When the Matina Territory contacted me to ask for permission to participate in the Pushik subjugation, he said that he was with Adele.

But you didn't come together. It was absurd. Did they even start a fight?

Even so, he was ordered to come to the imperial palace, and not coming would be disobeying the imperial order.

"Your Majesty. Lady Adele Leopold has arrived."

... Didn't he disobey the Emperor's orders?

Daimon sat down again, frowned, and touched his head.

Chernosor assured that he had won Adele's heart, but it seemed like he was mistaken.

Otherwise, there was no way the two would come separately.

Still, Chernosor said that because Adele had a certain feeling about it. Let's walk there first. I was going to find out more details while having lunch with the two people.

At that time, an aide came with a pale face.

"Your Majesty, we're in big trouble!"

"What's going on?"

"That is the matter of His Highness the Second Prince..."

The aide told Daimon about Chernosor's foolish actions at the Matina estate.

Daimon, who heard the whole story, clenched his fists so tightly that his blue tendons stood up.

I was anxious ever since Chernosor, who did not know how to swing a sword properly, announced that he would participate in the subjugation of Pushik.

However, the reason he allowed it was because Chernosser said that he had to show Adele a cool side to make sure Adele's heart was solidified.

This is because he promised that he would never step forward during the subjugation and would only give instructions from the rear.

But what you did do?

You were so scared of Pushik that you trembled and urinated?

It wasn't enough that his life was saved thanks to Adele, but he was completely embarrassed when it was discovered that he had lied about Adele's credit as if it were his own. The disgrace of Prince Chernosor was the disgrace of the imperial family, and furthermore, the disgrace of the Empire.

"This guy......!"

However, Daimon was very offended by Chernosor for doing something like that without thinking, so Daimon gritted his teeth.

As Daimon seemed very uncomfortable, the servants and aides stuck their necks in and watched him.

Daimon stared into space with his colorful eyes as if Chernosor was right in front of him, then looked at his servant.

The attendant, facing the murderous gaze, hastily lowered his head.

Daimon spoke as if chewing and spitting out.

"The luncheon is canceled. Chernosor, bring that bastard to me right now!"

***

After renting a carriage at the carriage rental shop at the train station and arriving at the imperial palace, I looked up at the tall outer castle.

The outer castle was so large and ornate that you could tell it was an imperial palace even from afar. Even if I raised my head for a long time, I could not see the end of the tower, which was so high in the sky.

People say that the imperial palace is the pride of the Empire and that they want to go there at least once before they die, but that wasn't the case for me.

I never wanted to come to this disgusting place again.

I especially didn't want to meet the owner of this place.

Thinking of the Emperor made me feel sick. As I was calming my stomach by gently clenching and unclenching my fists, an older-looking woman approached, leading other women.

A familiar face.

A middle-aged woman who made eye contact with me bowed politely and said hello.

"Nice to meet you, Lady Leopold."

Okay. I've seen you countless times, but this will be your first time seeing me.

Every time I heard a story like that, I felt certain that I had gone back in time.

"My name is Sophia, and I am the head maid in charge of the Spring Palace."

The maids were commoners, but the head maid who commanded them was chosen from among lower-ranking nobles.

"Yes, Sophia. Nice to meet you."

"You must be very tired from the long journey, so I will take you straight to your room so you can get some rest."

"Shouldn't we go see His Majesty before that?"

In all my past lives, when I first came to the imperial palace, the first thing I did was meet the Emperor. Because it was clear what he wanted from me.

In the first life, to connect me and Chernosor.

To convince me of the second life.

The third life... Except I didn't go to the imperial palace at all.

Anyway, I met and talked with the Emperor every time I came to the palace, so I thought it would be the same this time too.

Even so, when arriving at the imperial palace, it was proper to meet the Emperor, the owner of the palace first and then greet him.

But you said you would show me to your room right away.

When I asked out of curiosity, Sophia smiled slightly and answered.

"His Majesty thought of the Lady who must have been tired from the long journey, so he told me that you could rest well today and come back to say hello tomorrow."

The Emperor thinks of me?

It was such a bullshit that even a passing dog couldn't understand it.

But. In the beginning, he pretended to care about me to win my favor.

Still, at first, he unconditionally wanted to talk to me, but what kind of whim was this?

Is it because I came separately from Chernosor?

"Then can I see His Highness the Second Prince?"

"I'm sorry, but His Highness is currently talking with His Majesty the Emperor."

I guess it was because of that. That means that Chernosor is being happily destroyed by the Emperor right now.

The bad mood I had just felt good again.

***

"I sent you to win Adele Leopold's heart, but instead of winning her heart, you came back with an accident!"

As Adele expected, Chernosor was being scolded by the Emperor, Daimon.

Chernosor has not raised his head even once since meeting Daimon.

"Are you out of your mind? You can't keep your dignity as the Prince of the Empire, but you behave in an indecent manner!"

"I apologize, Your Majesty, Father."

His mouth was like a parrot, repeating the same words.

Just by looking at his posture and what he said, it seemed like he was truly reflecting, but he wasn't. The eyes staring at the red carpet on the floor were full of dissatisfaction. Occasionally, he would bite the inside of his mouth hard, and the fishy scent of blood would fill his mouth. It was all Adele Leopold's fault.

If that woman hadn't seduced him with sweet words and suggested that he take part in the Pushik subjugation and strengthen his position, this wouldn't have happened!

Chernosor's dissatisfaction welled up in his throat, but he suppressed it so as not to let it out his mouth even if he made a mistake.

Regardless of who caused it, he ended up behaving in a disgraceful manner, and even if he said it was all because of Adele Leopold, it wouldn't have any effect on Daimon.

In fact, it will only incite more anger as to where he is answering.

"I have no words, Your Majesty."

In times like this, the wisest thing to do was to make a false apology that contained not of sincerity and wait for Daimon's anger to subside.

Daimon, who had been shouting for a long time until the blood in his throat rose, soon let out a long sigh and sat down on the sofa.

Is it finally over? As Chernosor secretly breathed a sigh of relief, words fell like a thunderbolt.

"I'll give you one more chance, so don't make mistakes this time, and make sure to win Adele Leopold's heart."

"Yes?"

Chernosor looked straight into Daimon's face for the first time.

Daimon clicked his tongue and spoke again as if he was extremely annoyed.

"This time, I told you to definitely win Adele Leopold's heart."

To do that, he had to pay more attention to Adele and please her than before. As the Prince of a vast Empire, he has to bow down his pride and crawl gently to a mere Duke's daughter.

Just imagining himself like that made him extremely disgusted and irritated. His anger grew as he remembered the humiliation Adele had suffered because of what she had done.

"This time too..."

"I don't like it."

As his anger consumed his reason, Chernosor said no to Daimon for the first time in his life. At this, not only Daimon but also Chernosor were shocked and kept their mouths shut.

It was a very scary thing to be defeated by Daimon, who was as ferocious as most monsters.

His legs were shaking, but he didn't want to back down this time.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think I can follow Your Majesty's orders."

Although he was angry, he even said that he didn't like it, so Chernosor decided to push ahead.

"Adele Leopold is very disappointed in me because of what happened at Martina Estate."

Still, he couldn't confidently state the original reason and made excuses.

"But is she going to fall for me if I tempt her? Rather, resistance and wariness will only increase. So, it would be better to send my younger siblings rather than me...."

Puck-

Chernosor staggered back after being hit squarely in the head by a crystal ink bottle thrown by Daimon.

Blood flowing from his broken head wet his face and obscured his vision.
