IDMH - Chapter 19

IDMH - Chapter 19

I Decided My Husband

"How dare you talk back to me?"

Daimon looked down at Chernosor with glaring eyes.

Chernosor sat down on the ground, trembling like a frail herbivore in front of a vicious predator.

He thought he had been angry with him for no reason, but it was a late regret.

Daimon slammed his desk hard and spoke between his teeth.

"You've just had your coming-of-age ceremony, so you're just talking about not being able to seduce a girl who doesn't know anything about the world!"

"No, I tried."

Chernosor stammered to express his position to Daimon and to vent his anger.

"I, too, tried really hard to win the heart of Adele Leopold."

"Effort is not what matters. What matters is the result."

This was something Daimon had a habit of saying.

"Saying that efforts were made to bring about this result is just an excuse for cowardly and pathetic losers, Chernosor."

Chernosor, who had suddenly become a cowardly and pathetic loser, did his best to suppress his boiling emotions with what little reason he had left. If he got angry, then everything would really be over. Due to Daimon's personality, even if he were the Prince who inherited his blood, he could have been imprisoned for deceiving the Emperor.

"Bring me a result that I can be satisfied with."

Daimon's hand holding Chernosor's shoulder tightened.

It was painful enough to make a sound, but Chernosor couldn't even scream properly because Daimon was watching.

"And prove that you are useful."

How many biological fathers in the world are there who scold their sons to prove their worth?

"Otherwise, I have no choice but to kick you out. I hate useless people the most in the world. Even if it's my son."

"..."

"You understand what I'm saying, Chernosor?"

He doesn't know. Why is Daimon so obsessed with Adele and the Duke Leopold?

Why did he choose himself as a chess piece?

Chernosor doesn't know everything, but he knows one thing for sure.

"Yes, Your Majesty the Emperor."

He said this was the only answer he could give right now.

***

It was the morning after I arrived at the imperial palace that the Emperor sent me a chamberlain.

"Your Majesty has invited Lady Leopold to dinner."

The chamberlain laid out the Emperor's message and the gifts he had given me in the room. The dresses, shoes, and accessories were all dazzlingly gorgeous.

"His Majesty wanted the Lady to wear this to the dinner party."

"Is it so."

I didn't feel like it, but I didn't have the ability to refuse right now, so I forced myself to nod.

As soon as the chamberlain left, I ate breakfast without even looking at the gifts the emperor had given me.

After breakfast, I pretended to read a book and sat on the sofa thinking about what I would do when I met the emperor.

At that time, the maid who served me said.

"Miss, since you ate breakfast, how about taking a light walk to digest it? The weather is so nice!"

What was this child's name?

I recognized Bradley and Sophia immediately because I had seen them in a previous life, but this was my first time seeing this maid.

Moreover, when Sofia introduced the maid, I couldn't remember her name because I was thinking about something else.

I looked back at my memory for a moment, looking at the maid's face with freckles around her nose.

"Your name is May, right?"

"Yes, that's right! Miss!"

Fortunately, I got it right.

After all, the name of a maid I wouldn't see once I left the palace was of no importance, but it was important to me right now.

Because I have many things to ask of this maid.

Anyway, it's a walk. I looked out the window.

The tail of winter had not yet disappeared, and the garden was full of green evergreen trees and bright flowers.

This was thanks to the temperature control magic that was installed in the imperial palace to keep the temperature as warm as spring all year round.

As a result, Chernosor, who married me and became Duke Leopold, had difficulty adapting to life on Leopold's estate.

Of course, Duke Leopold's residence also had a temperature control spell, but it was not completely affected like the imperial palace.

It was hung only in important places, such as the bedroom. This was also due to the Red Dragon's barrier.

Although it was not as large as the imperial palace, it was still quite large. To cast a temperature control spell on the entire ducal residence would require as much mana as a train, so it could not be done and was only cast on a portion of it.

In addition, Leopold's duchy was located in the northern part of the continent, so winters were very long.

This is the worst territory for Chernosor, who has spent his entire life in the warm imperial palace and is prone to cold.

So how dissatisfied was Chernosor?

He became Duke Leopold because he wanted to, and blamed all of this on me.

Instead of stopping there, the temperature control magic in the Duke's residence was adjusted to focus only on his bedroom and operate only there.

If you look at it this way, Chernosor's atrocities are no less than those of the Emperor.

By killing me, he has already committed an atrocity that will never be forgiven.

"Hmm. Don't you want to go for a walk, Miss?"

I, who was lost in other thoughts, looked back at May after hearing her words. May met my eyes and smiled awkwardly.

"I know you are tired because you just arrived in the capital yesterday, but they say the more you move, the more you will relax. Plus, the weather is so nice, you'll feel better when you get some sunlight."

Is it. I looked out the window again. The sunlight pouring over the greenery was brilliant and dazzling, but I don't know if the weather is any better today.

The flowers bloomed beautifully. Hmm, let's go out sometime. It's been a while since I had breakfast, so I felt a little bloated and thought a walk would help me feel better, so I stood up.

May, who was quick-witted, quickly brought a cashmere shawl.

As I put on my shawl and came out, Sir Aldor, who was standing guard in a standing posture, approached me.

"Are you going for a walk?"

"Yes. I told you to rest more than that, so why are you standing guard here?"

"As an escort knight, I have a duty to protect the Young Lady."

"But that doesn't mean you have to stand guard all day."

I pushed the back of Sir Aldor, who was standing like an old tree.

"If you stand guard when you're tired, you won't be able to properly protect me if something happens, so get some rest."

"But..."

"It's okay. As Sir Aldor knows, I can protect myself, and no one will dare attack me within the imperial palace, so you don't have to worry."

So, when I pushed his back a little harder to tell him to rest and come back, Sir Aldor reluctantly nodded.

"Then I'll just rest for an hour."

"Is it only possible for one hour? Even if I can't do it, I have to rest for eight hours so I can sleep."

SirAldor shook his head.

"That's too long."

"It doesn't seem long to me, does it?"

When I didn't back down, Sir Aldor let out a small sigh.

"Then I will rest for two hours."

"Great. I also give in and make it seven hours."

After a brief argument, we agreed on five hours. Even giving breaks requires arguing and reaching an agreement.

I always think about it, but Sir Aldor was too honest. Either in a good way or in a bad way.

After sending Sir Aldor away, I followed May to the garden. There were a total of four palaces where guests stayed at the imperial palace, and each was named after a season, like the Spring Palace, so it was also called the Palace of the Four Seasons.

At the center of the Four Seasons Palace was a garden with a large pond.

The garden I saw out the window and was currently going to was the Garden of the Four Seasons.

As soon as May entered the Garden of the Four Seasons, she smiled brightly and asked me.

"Isn't the garden so pretty? I am amazed every time I come here!"

"It's pretty."

Grass as soft as a carpet and roses blooming brightly and unseasonably.

Even the greenery that blocks out the warm sunlight. The garden was so beautiful that if I had to choose my favorite place in the Imperial Palace, I would choose this place.

Still, I still like the garden at Duke Leopold's residence better.

I liked the garden even more because it had my mother's touches on it.

When I thought about the Duke's residence, I wanted to go back. I also wanted to see the people who used the Duke's residence.

If I want to go back, I have to persuade the Emperor and find out my rights, but how long will it take?

Will it be successful? Rather than taking revenge on the Emperor like in my last life, I won't be killed again, right?

"..."

My mood sank, with no reward for visiting the beautiful garden, as the questions continued to linger.

What do I think will make me feel better?

"Would you like to go to the pond, miss?"

While I was thinking about it, May asked.

I had visited the Garden of the Four Seasons several times in my past life, but I had never gone all the way to the pond.

This is because there was no time to go deep into the garden and look around leisurely.

It was still the same now that I couldn't afford it.

Still, I wanted to see how beautiful the pond that people praise so much is.

"Okay. Let's go. Can you guide me to the pond, May?"

"Yes, Miss!"

We entered the garden with May's spirited guidance. The deeper we went inside, the darker the greenery became. I could hear birds chirping all around.

At this point, I felt like I was in a forest rather than a garden.

Is there a reason to make the garden this large? It must be difficult to manage.

I was heading to the pond, paying more attention to the other ashes than to the spectacular scenery that left me in awe.

"Why are you here?"

A familiar voice mixed with irritation was heard not far away.

"You're out of luck."

It was Chernosor.
