IDMH - Chapter 17
I Decided My Husband
There was nothing good about meeting Chernosor. Ah, it would be refreshing to see his face distorted with shame and anger.
However, since I had more to lose than that, I did not want to encounter Chernosor as much as possible.
As if heaven knew what I was thinking, I did not meet Chernosor even once during the entire trip to the capital.
Most things, such as meals, could be done in the room without having to go out.
Moreover, I had to sort out my future plans before arriving in the capital, so I rarely went out, but even so, it was strange that we never ran into each other.
I was curious and asked Sir Aldor to find out, and he brought me unexpected information.
"His Royal Highness was also avoiding bumping into the Young Lady."
"Is it so?"
"Yes. As he was about to leave the room, when the Young Lady made a move to leave, he took off her coat and sat down on the sofa again."
"Phew."
An uncontrollable laugh flowed out. It seems that Chernosor's actions are funny, as Sir Aldor is also putting pressure on the end of his lips.
"It's good. I hope the Prince continues to avoid me in the future."
"Looking at the current situation, I think so."
No. When he arrives at the imperial palace, as if he has been avoiding me for a long time, he will put on a fake smiling mask again and start working on me. Because the Emperor will tell him to do so.
Chernosor had no choice but to win my favor somehow and order him to marry me, even if he didn't feel like it.
"Where does it hurt?"
"Yes?"
"You don't look well."
Ah. I guess I hardened my expression without realizing it because I was thinking about Chernosor.
"I am okay. Rather than that, we'll be arriving at the capital soon, right?"
"Yes. We'll be arriving in an hour."
"Okay."
I was nervous because arriving at the capital meant meeting the Emperor.
I leaned my head against the cold window frame, hoping that in this Iife the Emperor would not take away the things I deserved and that I could take revenge on him.
***
The first time I met Chernosor again was when the train stopped at the capital station.
"..."
As soon as Chernosor saw me, he looked at me with a straight face and showed his displeasure.
I didn't want to talk to someone who not only hated me but also hated me, so I just bowed my head and passed him by.
I was about to get out of the carriage, but Chernosor grabbed my arm.
Sir Aldor, who was following me with my luggage, reflexively grabbed Chernosor's arm.
Chernosor raised his eyes and glared at Sir Aldor.
Sir Aldor did his duty as my bodyguard, but the situation was a little different when the opponent was a Prince.
In particular, if you carelessly touch the body of a member of the royal family, you could be severely punished, so I hurriedly spoke to Sir Aldor.
"Let go of that hand, Sir Aldor."
Sir Aldor seemed to know that this shouldn't be done, so he obediently let go of Chernosor's arm and stepped away.
Then Chernosor said selfishly.
"You risk your life for your master. A truly loyal guard knight."
Dissatisfaction clung to every word. The person who only paid lip service to me and said I was the prettiest person in the world no longer existed.
"As Your Highness the Prince said, Sir Aldor is doing this purely out of loyalty to me, so please be lenient."
It hurt my pride to bow down to Chernosor and ask for forgiveness. But I was willing to bow my head because it would save Sir Aldor.
Then Chernosor crossed his arms and looked down at me with disapproving eyes.
"Is that all you have to say to me?"
Then? Is there anything else I should say?
When Chernosor looked at me with an inexplicable question, he clicked his tongue and twisted his lips.
"It seems that there is a saying that even if the perpetrator forgets, the victim cannot."
Looking at the nuance of what you say, it seems like I am the perpetrator and he is the victim...
What are you talking about? Oh, really?
"Are you saying this because of what happened during the subjugation of Pushik?"
Chernosor's face became distorted as if he was answering the question. He widened his eyes and asked me harshly.
"Did you plan to humiliate me from the beginning?"
Have you noticed that now? Anyway, he's so clueless.
"That can't be right."
I lied calmly, hiding my dark inner thoughts.
"Do you think I have some kind of grudge against you, that I am planning to embarrass you? I tried to help you with a pure heart."
Chernosor laughed.
"Do you think I will believe that?"
"Really."
I put my hand on my heart and looked at him with fake sincerity in my eyes.
"I really wanted to help you, Your Highness. So, I told you about Pushik's weaknesses and what you need to be careful about when defeating them."
It was Chernosor who violated that rule and acted as he pleased, attracting Pushik's attention.
Even if he had kept it well, he would have become a target of Pushiks because of the sachet I specially made.
"Furthermore, even when His Highness told false sagas to those around me, I pretended not to know and turned a blind eye."
"..."
"Are you still doubting my sincerity?"
When asked a series of undeniable facts, Chernosser could not say anything and kept his mouth shut.
But there was still a trace of dissatisfaction on his face.
Anyway, the pace is as narrow as what you do. How stupid was I in my first life, when I was fooled and married to a man like this.
"It looks like Your Highness is uncomfortable with me, so I will go to the imperial palace separately."
"..."
Chernosor's eyes widened for a moment. Going to the imperial palace separately was an act of openly revealing that my relationship with him was not good. It was natural for him to be embarrassed as he would then be disobeying the Emperor's order to win my favor at all costs.
"Okay then."
Even though I knew that, I pretended not to know and got off the train. This is because the beginning of my plan was to go to the imperial palace separately from Chernosor. I was wondering how I could go to the imperial palace separately from Chernosor's, but I was lucky that he prepared a table for me first.
Sir Aldor, who hurriedly followed, asked worriedly.
"Is it okay to do this, Lady?"
"Why not? His Majesty only told me to come to the capital, but he didn't tell me to come 'together' with His Highness the Prince."
Chernosor may have been ordered to do so, but I was not.
So even if we went separately like this, the Emperor could not be angry with me.
At least for now.
Sir Aldor continued to look at the train, perhaps feeling uneasy after hearing my explanation.
I left the train station without further explanation. At the entrance to the station was a gorgeous carriage, believed to have been sent by the imperial family.
The man who was standing in front of me, looking at the people, saw me and quickly approached me.
"Lady Adele Leopold, is that right?"
Colin Bradley. He was Viscount Bradley and counselor to the Emperor.
"That's right, but who are you?"
I had seen it many times in my previous life, but this was my first time seeing him, so I asked pretending not to know.
Viscount Bradley put on a friendly face and bowed his head politely.
"Nice to meet you, Young Lady. My name is Colin Bradley."
"Ah, Viscount Bradley."
Before Colin Bradley became the Emperor's aide, Viscount Bradley was one of the common Viscounts in the Empire without any fiefdom or recognition.
In later years, the family became known as Colin Bradley served as an aide to the Emperor.
However, at this point, since he had only recently become the Emperor's aide, there were still many nobles who did not know him. However, when I immediately realized that he was the Viscount, Viscount Bradley looked at me in surprise, but then smiled slightly and said.
"The daughter of the prestigious Duke Leopold knows my family. It is an infinite honor for the family."
Instead of saying anything, I laughed.
Viscount Bradley looked at me with a smile in response, then tilted his head after confirming that Chernosor was not next to me.
"Your Highness the Prince didn't come with you?"
"We came together, but we decided to go separately when going to the imperial palace."
Viscount Bradley's eyes widened.
"Yes? What......."
"Miss."
When I turned around at the sound of Sir Aldor calling, I saw Chernosor walking towards me.
"It just happened to be like that. Then I'll leave."
If I were captured by Chernoser and went to the imperial palace in a carriage together, my plan would go awry from the start, so I quickly left the place.
***
The Emperor, Daimon, has been in a very good mood lately.
Not only did the troublemaker disappear, but Chernosor, had an answer.
"Your Majesty, our revered father. Adele Leopold is completely infatuated with me, so you don't have to worry. I will soon give you what your Majesty wants."
Chernosor was born on a ship borrowed from a clever Empress, but he had no sense or ability to do anything.
Meanwhile, he was so greedy that he kept messing with other people's food bowls, which gave me a headache, but I never thought it would help me like this.
It was said that even slugs have a knack for rolling, and that was exactly right.
"It's soon."
You'll be able to get your hands on 'it' soon.
A satisfied smile spread across Daimon's lips as he tipped his wine glass. Daimon drank wine and planned what to do when Chernosor brought Adele.
Chernoser said that he completely won Adele's heart, so they should go ahead with the marriage.
Of course, if you tell her to get married all of a sudden, she might get embarrassed and run away, so for now, I feel very sorry for her situation and grieve with her.
I planned to subtly remind her how bad her situation was and scare her a little. Then, if the topic of marriage is brought up, Adele, who is scared, will quickly accept the marriage proposal.
Never dreamed that it would become a leash tightening around my neck.
"That's why it would have been nice if you had just handed it over."
If I had done that, I wouldn't have died.
Ah, should I call it an honorable death?
Daimon, who remembered the dead Duke Leopold, sneered lowly and set down his empty glass.
