TVTLQ - Chapter 3

The Villainess Wants To Live Quietly

He was the Duke of an Empire, the owner of a hotel, and the head of a merchant association that ruled the continent.

Could it be that he doesn't have the money to repair even a guest room?

If Nathaniel had damaged the guest room and left, Calix would have been able to file a claim for damages against Marquis Pierre and issue a permanent ban on Nathaniel.

However, Nathaniel cleverly avoided responsibility by providing financial compensation for what he had done.

'Oh my gosh. I've lost my name. Duke, I have a habit of getting a little excited when I drink and have fun. Sorry! Buy what you need with this money... If you run out of money, let me know and I'll give you more! Puhaha!!'

He's really a guy I don't want to deal with.

He sounds like a son of a bitch.

"First of all, the 5th floor rooms will be closed for the time being. Have someone get a quote for the repairs and report the exact amount to me."

"Yes, I understand."

After giving instructions to the staff, Calix glanced around the room with a disdainful gaze and left. It seemed like a special measure would be needed to ban bastards from entering the hotel. However, another trouble was waiting for him in the office when he returned.

"Duke, are you coming now?"

A woman with light pink hair, like cherry blossoms fluttering in the spring breeze, stood up from the so far with a wide smile. Calix is the Duke of the Empire, and being able to enter a room without him first and stay there as she pleases was something only a Crown Prince could do.

But what is this again?

"Lady Estelle."

It was an act that went against etiquette, but Calix greeted her calmly without revealing his feelings. This woman, with a small body and fairy-like appearance, was the only daughter of the Duke of Montrose. To be exact, she is the woman brought by the Duke of Montrose, claiming to have found his lost daughter 15 years ago.

According to the rumor. She was found in a slum.

"What are you doing here?"

"I was waiting to see the Duke."

Estelle got up from her seat and walked briskly towards Calix. Every time she walked, her light forsythia-colored dress swayed like flower petals. She stopped right in front of Calix and said with a bright smile.

"There was something I really wanted to ask the Duke."

"Are you talking to me?"

"Yes, Duke."

The first and last time Calix encountered her was when they met and greeted her by chance at the imperial palace a few weeks ago. But Estelle approached him without hesitation, as if the two were close friends, expressing subtle interest.

'It looks like you haven't received any proper etiquette lessons yet.'

It was refreshing. If slightly unpleasant, and refreshing at the same time. As he smiled casually, Estelle's cheeks heated up slightly.

"Actually, my birthday is next month. My father promised to throw a grand party as it was our first birthday together. I really wish the Duke would come to my birthday."

"I understand."

This is the Duke of Montrose, who has found his long-lost only daughter. Now that you have your child back without any pain even if you put it in your eye, you will want to do anything.

Calix had also heard that a grand party comparable to the imperial banquet was being prepared.

"Please be sure to attend. Can you come?"

"I would be honored if the Princess invited me."

"Wow, really? In that case, I will send you a formal invitation... Wow!"

Estelle, who was jumping up and down in her seat, accidentally stepped on her dress and stumbled.

The moment Calix was about to catch her as she fell, there was a hand grabbing her waist before he could. The main character was the brown-haired escort knight who stood quietly behind Estelle with his mouth closed.

"Are you okay, Princess?"

"Ah, yes. I'm fine, Derek."

The knight very skillfully hugged Estelle's waist and straightened her up. It was a fairly close contact, and Estelle seemed very accustomed to the other person's skinship. She even puts his hand on top of the knight's hand and subtly intertwines their fingers.

"Hmm."

A look passed through Calix's eyes, which had always been filled with annoyance.

Isn't it quite interesting? A Princess who is accustomed to male contact. Calix thought that perhaps the other person had not yet learned manners, but rather was a person who was operating under a thorough plan.

***

The largest and most luxurious room in the Marquis Pierre's residence.

In front of him, I took a moment to catch my breath. Nervous?

I counted from 1 to 10 in my head. After my pounding heart calmed down a bit, I put a smile on my face and knocked on the door.

"Father."

"Oh, is Rose here?"

Marquis Pierre, or my father, who was sitting at the desk in his office looking at documents, greeted me warmly. He even had a kind smile on his lips. I was a little worried because I only knew fragmentary information about the Marquis. Looks like our relationship is better than I thought?

"Are you busy?"

"No, it's okay. I just wanted to take a break."

"Don't overwork yourself and take it easy."

"Haha, yeah. Rather, why did you suddenly come to visit this father? Do you have something you want? Did you come out with a new gem?"

I flinched. It felt like I had hit the nail on the head, but maintained a bright smile.

"Oh my, I'm coming to see my father. Can I come only if I have something I really want?"

"Hahaha. Seeing our Rosenia say such extraordinary things, I guess you want something even greater today than usual."

He really is like a ghost. He's very quick-witted. Of course, I want something great. But what I want is not jewelry.

'For me, Father, I'm not interested in such trivial things. What I want is this family itself. I wish Pierre and all of Pierre's property were mine and not my damn brother's!'

If I say that, are you going to call me crazy?

Aside from being a little nervous, my mouth was itchy. Everyone living in the capital knows that the eldest son of this family is a spoiled brat. So, leaving Pierre to me is the only way for everyone to get a happy ending.

'No, no.'

In the original work, Nathaniel was the heir to the Marquis until the moment his family was ruined by debt. This means that my father trusted Nathaniel until the end. The eldest son is currently a troublemaker, but one day he will come to his senses and become a great head of the family who will bring glory to the family.

'If I criticize that son of a bitch now, my father will only blame me.'

So I still need to approach it cautiously.

"Actually, I have a favor to ask you."

"Okay. What is it?"

"How about going out to dinner tonight? There's a new restaurant opening on Central Street. The main chef was the royal chef of the Kingdom of Utica."

Was it something completely different from what my father expected?

My father's eyes widened at my words and then he laughed out loud.

"Hahaha, did you really hesitate this much just to ask for that?"

"Because my father is always busy. No matter how busy you are, you can't refuse when your daughter wants to eat out with you."

"Our Rosenia is somehow cute today. Okay, let's get out now. Can you wait a moment?"

My father began to organize the documents piled up on his desk. I furtively glanced at the contents of the document and raised my eyebrows. That. It was definitely a story from the original. Maybe It can appeal at least?

"Father."

"Huh?"

"Is it difficult to import pepper these days?"

My father looked at me with an incomprehensible look on his face, but then he realized that I had read the document that was on the desk and smiled lightly.

"Did you see that?"

"Yes, sorry."

"No, there is nothing to be sorry about. Yes, there was a serious plague in Croix this spring. As a result,  production of pepper has been disrupted and the price has risen significantly, so we do not import as much as before."

"To be exact, we can't import it because we don't have the quantity, right?"

"The people of the Empire still love pepper."

"That's the way it is."

What is love? It was almost feverish. Expensive spices are the perfect item to satisfy the vanity of nobles.

"Okay then. Can't I get it somewhere else?"
