IDMH - Chapter 6

I Decided My Husband

Even though I asked Ghellan for that, I really had no intention of getting married.

This was just a trick to show the Emperor, who was worried that I would inherit the Duke's throne, that I had no intention of doing so.

At the same time, it was also a shield to protect me from uninvited guests who would come sooner or later.

In order for Ghellan to fulfill his role properly, he needs to run wild like a colt let loose of reins, but fortunately, he lived up to my expectations.

"But there's no need to go to this length."

I clicked my tongue when I saw the courtship advertisement that took up a large page of the newspaper.

The courtship advertisement said that the daughter of Duke Leopold was looking for a husband and that anyone who thought he was eligible should contact Ghellan Anacid.

Thanks to the courtship advertisement, not only the local Young Master but also the entire empire knew that I was looking for a husband.

As proof, dozens of marriage proposals poured into the mansion every day. The amount was so large that a separate person had to be appointed to handle the marriage proposals.

Of course, those marriage proposals have never been in my hands until now. It was because of the Ghellan couple.

"We will meet the people who sent you marriage proposals in person and carefully select whether they are a good match for you and show you some of them, so don't worry and just wait,"

It's not that you're being selective. You're just watching to see how much bribes they give you.

Judging from the fact that he is trying to grab his share without missing this opportunity, it seems he is not a fool at all.

I'm glad. If I were a fool without sense, it would have been difficult to use it as a shield.

"Do by that way. I will only trust my uncle."

The more they run wild, the more they will act as a shield, so I let them do whatever they want.

Exactly four days after asking the Ghellan couple to find a marriage partner.

"I offer my condolences, Lady Leopold."

That man, Chernosor, visited Leopold's estate on behalf of the royal family.

Chernosor was one of the most handsome men in the empire, with dark blond hair and blue eyes that resembled the Emperor's, flawless skin, and distinct facial features.

The maids blushed when they saw his handsome appearance, but it didn't impress me at all.

Rather, I was irritated by the fact that I was faced with that disgusting face again.

However, if I get annoyed here, everything will be in vain, so I have to endure it.

"Thank you, Your Royal Highness. I never thought His Royal Highness would come in person."

"Duke Leopold is the benefactor who saved my brother's life, so of course I should visit him in person."

Chernosor placed his hand on his chest and spoke with a solemn face.

"I am truly sorry about what happened to Duke Leopold. His Majesty the Emperor also sincerely regrets the death of Duke Leopold."

It's a shame this is a mess. Rather, they would have applauded and enjoyed it. Because the opportunity to devour the Leopold family that he had longed for has finally come.

I vividly pictured the Emperor smiling evilly in my mind, and it made me feel sick. I felt sick, I felt even more upset because I was facing someone who not only criticized me and trampled on me, but also plunged a sword into my heart.

The frustration I had been trying to suppress boiled over.

I felt like I would get impatient and irritated if I stayed here any longer, so I wanted to just leave, but Ghellan, who could take care of him, rarely showed up.

Where on earth and what are you doing that you are so slow to act?

While I was wondering whether I should tell the servant to bring him to me, I saw Ghellan behind Chernosor.

It's really early. I was fortunate that he showed up before my patience ran out. I mustered up all the patience I had left, drew a shy smile on my stiff lips, and blushed.

"I am truly glad that His Majesty the Prince has come."

Seeing me like that, Chernosor smiled happily, and Ghellan winced in embarrassment.

For a moment, Ghellan hurriedly rushed over, his eyebrows fluttering, and bowed politely to Chernoser.

"Ghellan Anacid, meet Your Highness, Prince of the Empire."

It was a perfect posture without any disturbance. Looking at it this way, it became apparent that he was once a member of the Count's family.

Even though he is now an indescribable mess.

"Anasidra. It's a castle I've heard of before."

Chernosor thought about it for a moment and then let out an exclamation as if it had occurred to him.

"It was the castle of a Count family who had no choice but to sell their title because they were unable to overcome enormous debts and went bankrupt."

It's true, but you're saying it to the person's face.

I feel this again, but Chernosor's personality was trash.

"..."

Ghellan's expression hardened and his fists were clenched. Although he is the culprit behind the ruin of the Count Anacid family, he seems to feel ashamed of his appearance.

It was amazing that there was even a speck of conscience left, but now was not the time to cower in shame or anything like that.

"Uncle, I would like to ask for your Royal Highness. Please guide him to my father's grave."

You have to do your part, Ghellan.

For this purpose, I have put up with your atrocities so far, but if you don't do your part, it will be very difficult.

"Okay. Do you want to leave it to me, Adele?"

Fortunately, my patience and efforts so far have not been in vain. Then, I said please and was about to go to my room, but Chernosor caught me.

"Why is this man, and not the Lady, leading the way?"

"Right now, Adele is very tired both physically and mentally."

Ghellan answered on my behalf.

"She suddenly lost her beloved father and had to attend his funeral alone. Poor Adele."

Ghellan patted my shoulder with moist eyes. Anyone who saw him looked like a kind uncle who truly cared about his niece.

"So, I am in charge of guiding the mourners on Adele's behalf."

"Right."

Seeing Ghellan come out like that, Chernosor also looked dissatisfied but didn't make any outrageous request to guide me directly.

"Then please take good care of His Royal Highness, Uncle. Because His Royal Highness is a special person to me."

The curtain has finally risen on the play that has been in preparation for a long time. It was a smooth start.

I quietly retreated to the back of the stage, hoping that the actors would play their roles well in the next chapter.

***

"I think Adele has a crush on Prince Chernosor."

After the memorial service, my aunt's eyes widened at the words of Ghellan, who guided Chernosor to his room in the main building and returned to the annex.

"Is that true? Did she say that?"

"That's not true, but that's how I felt. When Adele saw the Prince, her face blushed shyly and she said he was a special person."

"Huh, that can't be possible."

My aunt clicked her tongue and touched her head.

"So what do we do now? If she marries the Prince, we won't be able to receive a reward since we didn't find you a groom."

"I'm glad I didn't just get a reward. I might be kicked out of the estate."

"Yes? Why?"

"That Prince hates me."

"What do you mean by that? The Prince hates you? Did you do something wrong to the Prince?"

"That's not it, the Prince thinks I ruined the Anacid family."

"Yes?"

My aunt asked back as if it was absurd.

"Why is it because of you? It's because your sister heartlessly abandoned the family!"

"Therefore, If my sister had helped me, I wouldn't have had to sell my title."

Ghellan gritted his teeth as he remembered what happened back then.

Duke Leopold was so incredibly wealthy that there were rumors that he had secretly amassed more wealth than the Imperial family. With Duke Leopold's wealth, resolving the debts of Count Anacid would be easier than eating cold soup.

Of course, the debt that the Count Anacid family had at the time was a whopping 30,000 gold, which was not a small amount of money.

However, compared to the wealth accumulated by Duke Leopold, it was as small as the grime on your fingernails, so Ghellan had no doubt that his older sister, Radian, Duchess of Leopold, would solve the problem.

"I don't know why I have to solve such a problem, Ghellan."

But the trust was completely betrayed.

"It's your fault, so fix it yourself. I'm not the person who cleans up after you."

Radian cruelly abandoned Ghellan, her parents, and her family. Because of this, the family went bankrupt, and Ghellan had to sell his title to pay off the debt.

His father was so angry at this that he could not overcome the disease and died, and his mother suffered an accident and passed away.

Even though he sold his title, he was unable to repay all his debts, so he was chased by creditors and suffered the humiliation of wandering the streets like a homeless vagabond and sleeping on the streets.

Just thinking about that made Ghellan so upset that he would jump up from his sleep.

"You are my sister, but I didn't know that brother-in-law would also abandon us. I guess your sister told you not to help."

"I guess so. Anyway, she's a vicious woman."

"That's not what's important right now, honey."

My aunt placed her hand on his cheek and sighed.

"If you don't receive the key money and are kicked out of the estate, you will have nowhere to go."

"I am that child's maternal uncle. Why am I being kicked out? Don't worry, there is a way."

"What do you plan to do?"

"You just have to stop these two people from getting married."

When my aunt blinked as if she did not understand, Ghellan kindly added an explanation.

"Think about it, Seiji. It takes the royal family at most three months to prepare for a wedding. Three months is enough time even if something happens."

"Speaking of what's going on, For example, Adele is having another man's child."

"Oh my god."

Seiji's eyes widened and she covered her mouth with both hands. Just by looking at her expression, she seemed surprised, but her eyes were sparkling more than ever.

Ghellan clenched his fists and muttered as if he were making a promise.

"Just wait and see. Because I will somehow prevent them from getting married."
