IDMH - Chapter 5

IDMH - Chapter 8

I Decided My Husband

The next day, I fired Rine.

"I was wrong, Lady!"

At the sudden notice of dismissal. Rine poured out all her tears and begged me for forgiveness.

"I was wrong! Forgive me just once!"

"What did I do wrong?"

When I asked. Riné closed her mouth asking for forgiveness. Her eyes rolled around and she seemed to be contemplating what wrong she had done. But after a while, she said nothing.

There was no way I could do it. Because in this life. Rine has never done anything so big that she was fired. So, from Rine's point of view. It would be unfair and unfair for me to do this, but what can I do? I had no intention of keeping Rine in my house unless the memory of my previous life was erased from my mind. I have no reason to take any risk.

Rather, Rine should be grateful that I ended up like this. I ended it like this because I wanted to reduce unnecessary sacrifices in order to make Rine feel the terrible pain I had suffered in my past life.

"Go away."

"Ah, Lady. I was all wrong! I will never go against your heart again!"

It was a series of meaningless conversations. No matter what I said. It would be difficult to convince her to line up, so I turned around ignoring her bursting into tears.

"Lady, lady!"

When Rine called me anxiously and tried to come running, the duke's knights stopped her. And he took Rine out of the mansion.

I stood in front of the railing of the stairs going up to the second floor and looked at it, then turned my steps. Sarah, the head maid who followed me, asked cautiously.

"Are you sure you want to let Rine out, miss?"

"Okay."

"Could you please tell me what Rine did wrong?"

"No."

Sarah sighed deeply at my answer. but she couldn't help it. Because I've been through the same life over and over again, and I couldn't tell you that Line poisoned me in the previous life. There was no way Sarah would believe such an outrageous statement.

"Rather than that, since Line has gone out, I'll have to pick a new exclusive maid."

"Do you have a child you like? If you tell me, I will educate the child."

"I don't have a kid I really like. Among the children that Sarah sees as good, choose a child without a family."

"Yes?"

Sarah's embarrassment was evident from her expression. It was only natural that he asked to be chosen as a child without a family out of nowhere. I asked for a child with no family but my opinion has not changed.

Like Line, It would be a big deal if the emperor held my family hostage and tried to kill me, so I had to eliminate the cause to prevent that from happening in the first place.

"Are you sure you want to hire a child without a family as your exclusive maid?"

"Okay."

"Hao-na, most of the children without families are of unknown origin. would that be okay?"

"Are you okay?"

Even if his origins were unknown, entering the residence of Duke Leopold meant that he hadn't done anything bad like a crime in the past.

"Then do as I say."

Usually, such children did chores such as the laundromat but did not become full-time maids. However, when asked to do so, Sarah replied that she would do so even though she was embarrassed.

"And will you call your uncle and aunt? Oh, it's lunchtime soon, so I'll just invite you to lunch."

The face that had been shaking was hard this time. They didn't like that I invited the Geluan couple to lunch.

"Lady. It may be off-topic, but I think you'd better not get close to Geluan. He is the one who has

done a great disrespect to the majesty in the past."

Sarah trembled as if her chi was trembling just thinking about it.

"Don't worry, Sarah. I have no intention of staying close to my uncle."

"Really?"

"Okay. I have a favor to ask of you now, so don't worry and invite them to lunch."

"All right."

Sara finally calmed down and withdrew. After entering the room. I sat down on the sofa and scribbled my thoughts with a fountain pen.

'I have to inherit the title."

It was a fact known to everyone in the Empire that I was the real daughter of Duke Leopold. So, there was no problem with my status and lineage in inheriting the title, but the Noble Council held me back. In the empire, high-ranking nobles of the count or higher had to obtain the consent of a majority in the noble assembly to succeed to the title.

As high-ranking nobles usually played an important role within the empire, it was a law created to prevent someone with no ability from inheriting the title. Even so, most of them allowed it unless there was a fatal flaw in the child who would inherit the title.

Since the law was enacted, there have been only a handful of cases of opposition to succession. The problem was that I was included in the case. The reason why I opposed inheriting the duchy at the Noble CounciI was simple.

It was because I was a woman and the Duke Leopold family was a knightly family. Although female knights are on the rise, more than 90% of knights are still male. In addition, Duke Leopold served as the commander-in-chief of the empire for generations and led the imperial army.

There was no way I could play that role in the noble council, as a woman and without a knighthood. Therefore, they said in unison that it would be better for me to marry and hand over the dukeship to my husband than to become a duke. The emperor also mentioned that and forced me to marry the second prince.

I also got married thinking that was right, but not anymore. I was the bloodline of the Leopol d family. So it was right for me to become a duke. not my husband!

"To do that, I have to convince the noble council. It was difficult to convince the naive members of the aristocracy, but it was even more difficult because of the powerful emperor's influence.

I was thinking about what to do when I heard a knock.

"Come in."

I answered by burning the paper In the fireplace. It was Sarah who opened the door and entered.

"My lady, lunch is ready."

"Any uncle?"

"You just arrived at the restaurant."

"Okay. Let's go to the restaurant."

First of all, I'll buy time by turning the emperor's eyes first, and then think about it. For that reason, Geluan was made to stay in the annex. It was for the same reason that she invited me to lunch. I put on a shawl over a black dress and headed to the restaurant where the Geluan couple were waiting.

"Welcome, Adele."

When I entered the restaurant, the Geluan couple greeted me as if they were the owners. The sight was so funny that arsenic came out, and I frowned at their fancy clothes. If it was an ordinary time, it wouldn't be flashy, but now it was the period of my father's memorial. But to show up in primary colors.

I wondered what the hell was in that big head. Could it be that she wears her hair as an ornament?

'now. Come this way."

I passed by Geluan, who extended his hand to me and sat in the seat of honor.

"Big."

Then, probably embarrassed. Geluan cleared his throat and sat down to my left. As my aunt sat down next to him, the maids started serving food. As soon as I ate a spoonful of warm pre-meal soup. Geluan grumbled.

"How long are you going to keep us in the annex? It seems that the main building has been sorted out now, but even if you stay in the main building...."

"I will call you when the time is right, so please don't bother me. If you keep bothering me, you'll want to kick me out."

"What, what?"

"The soup will be cold. Please eaI ignored Geluan, who looked at me in embarrassment and ate the soup before dinner.

"Eat honey too."

Geluan, who had been sitting dumbfounded by his aunt's words, also started eating. Then, out of the blue, he started praising me, saying that he was pretty because he resembled his mother, or that he was proud of having a nephew like me.

The scheming to somehow make it look good to me and stick to the duke's mansion was clearly visible on his nasty-looking face. I let Geluan talk wildly, but when the dessert was served. I got to the point.

"Since my uncle is so proud of me, can you do one favor for me?"

of course! say anything I'll even pick a star in the sky for you."

"Hey, I was going to ask you to pick a star, but how did you know?"

'Uh?"

Look at that stupid face It was funny to see him shaking just because he answered a joke.

"It's a joke, so don't be so surprised."

"Ah, ha ha ha. That's right, it wasa joke.'

Geluan smiled as if he was relieved only then.

"Hmm, hmm. Then what are you asking me to do?"

"Please find someone to marry."

"Uh, huh?"

This time the chin will drop. It seemed that even a fist could easily enter his wide-open mouth.

"Is it really that surprising that you asked me to find a marriage partner for me?"

"Yes? uh, so...

"I was a little surprised. I never thought you would ask us for such a favor."

My aunt stepped in instead of Ghellan, who was stuttering like an idiot. I was worried about how long I would have to talk to that stupid man, but I'm glad I did.

"Well, I'm 18 now, so I'm not old enough to get married. So, does she have someone on her mind?"

"I don't have one, so I'm asking my uncle to introduce me."

"Ah, that's right. I asked a very stupid question."

I'm glad you know that.

"Can you please do me a favor?"

"Of course it is. But I need some money to find a marriage partner...

"Don't worry about that part."

As I shook the bell, the servant waiting behind came over and put down the pouch in front of Geluan. The eyes of Geluan and his aunt widened as they checked the gold coins inside.

"If you find a marriage partner you like. I will give you a bigger reward than this for your trouble."

At my words, Geluan's eyes flashed with greed. So was his aunt.

"You really do more cases than this?"

"Sure."

For the first time since meeting them. I had a sincere smile.

"So, please inquire diligently and find it, uncle. If possible. please spread the word very loudly so that all the people of the empire know that I am looking for a groom."
