IDMH - Chapter 7

I Decided My Husband

A warm afternoon with a break from the cold.

"As soon as I saw this, I thought of the Lady."

Chernosor returned from leaving the Duke's residence early in the morning and presented me with a bouquet of red roses.

"I bought it because it reminded me of the Lady's red hair, but I think I did it for no reason. The lady's red hair is more attractive than this rose."

Chernosor closed his eyes and smiled softly.

"I feel this every time I see you, but I really want your red hair. I wish I had red hair too."

It was a blatant lie that did not contain any sincerity.

As expected, Chernosor really hated my red hair.

He hated it so much that he even grabbed my hair and cut it with scissors, saying he felt bad because he felt like I was covered in blood. Because of this, my hair became a mess as if it had been eaten by a rat, so I stayed in the mansion until my hair grew back. To the point where I was reluctant to meet other nobles as well as servants.

But when he said that, poison came out.

"It may not be enough compared to your beauty, but it is still my heart, so I hope you will accept it."

"Thank you."

If I pushed too hard, the Prince would think it was strange, so I accepted the bouquet for now. Chernosor might have thought I had accepted his feelings and might have been annoyed, but it didn't matter. Ghellan will take care of stopping it.

"And if you're not busy, let's take a walk together..."

"..."

"Adele!"

See, it blocks it on its own.

" Uncle."

I smiled brightly and welcomed Ghellan.

"You're interfering again."

On the other hand, Chernosor's expression was crumpled as if he had chewed shit.

Every time Chernosor tried to work on me. Ghellan and my aunt would appear and interfere, so it was natural that he disliked Ghellan and his wife.

Thanks to that. I was able to remove Chernosor without having to do anything, which was nice.

It seems like I am blowing their nose without using their hands.

Of course, it took a lot of trial and error to get this far.

In my first life, when I knew nothing. I was fooled by Chernosor's acting and trusted him and did as he asked.

In my second life, I built an iron wall to escape Chernosor's noose, but it actually held me back.

Chernosor reported what had happened to the Emperor, and the Emperor, who sensed something strange, hastily promoted Chernosor and me to marry.

It was clear that if I married Chernosor, my terrible first life would repeat itself, so I married a vassal of the family to avoid marriage at all costs.

'Now that I think about it, the man will be back in a little while."

Aldor Shanktys, a vassal of the Leopold family and my husband in my second life.

A month ago. Sir Aldor received orders from my father and went out to subdue sea monsters. Since he was out at sea on a boat. I heard the news of my father's death very late, and it took a long time to return.

Therefore, Sir Aldor, who finally returned on the last day of the memorial service, hugged my father's tombstone and sobbed. I've known Sir Aldor for about ten years, but that day was the first time I saw him cry like that.

"Adele."

I was awakened from my thoughts by a hand shaking my shoulder and looked to the side. Ghellan was looking at me with a worried face.

"You don't look good, are you okay?"

"I am okay. What's going on?"

"Oh, there's something I'd like to discuss with you about the memorial service. Will there be time?"

"Sure."

I gave the bouquet I was holding to the maid and looked back at Chernosor.

"Then I will leave now, Your Highness. Thank you very much for the flower gift."

It was a little later that the roses received from Chernosor were completely disintegrated and scattered in the maids' bathhouse.

***

After Chernosor arrived, mourners arrived at the Duke's residence one after another.

The reason there were more mourners than in the past life was because Ghellan had put out a courtship advertisement.

They entered the Duke's residence under the pretext of paying condolences and tried their best to be seen by me.

They bombarded me with gifts and tried to comfort and tempt me with all kinds of candy.

"Lady Leopold, the weather is really nice today."

Chernosor must have felt a sense of crisis after seeing this, so he constantly challenged me to work.

"Adele! Come here for a moment!"

"Adele! Can you take a look at this?"

Of course, they were repeatedly blocked by the Ghellan couple who appeared at the right time.

Perhaps it was just the Ghellan couple, but the people who came to court me also disturbed Chernosor.

The Duke's residence was crowded with so many people.

"Welcome."

Since I couldn't leave all those people to the Ghellans. I had no choice but to step forward.

At the same time. I had a quick look into their minds, and they were skeptical about a woman taking over the knightly lineage.

The reason was the same as what was said in the noble council.

It wasn't that I couldn't understand their feelings, but I also had no intention of backing down.

There was only one way to obtain the consent of the majority in the noble council. To show that I have the power to lead the family and the knights.

'It's easy."

First of all, the opportunity to show it was extremely rare. There was no way the emperor would wait until that opportunity came.

"I need to buy more time.'

That way, you will create opportunities that don't exist.

Chernosor, who had not been able to achieve the purpose of coming to the Duke's residence, was able to gain some time by staying at the Duke's residence longer than before.

While I was scribbling down the actions  Emperor had taken in my past life and making plans for what to do in the future, there was a knock on the door.

 "Miss, please excuse me."

She was a newly hired maid. She was truly an ideal maid who met the conditions I wanted and was good at her job in her own way.

"What's going on?"

"I came to get this."

The maid put the items she brought on the nightstand next to the bed. She was a scented candle.

"It is a scented candle that helps you sleep. It looks like you haven't been able to sleep at all these days. I hope this helps."

"Thank you for your consideration. '

"no. Well then, have a good night, miss."

After the maid left. I thought some more and then lay down on the bed.

As the maid said, I had a lot on my mind these days and couldn't fall asleep easily even when I lay in bed. Perhaps because of the scented candle, I fell asleep.

"!"

I couldn't see his face because of the thick darkness in the bedroom. but I could feel how much the other person was shaking through the dagger around his neck. You were so scared and dared to come into my bedroom and try to rape me.

"I'm sorry, my lady! I found the wrong room, so I accidentally......!"

"The guest's room is in the annex. and my room is in the main building. You don't think I'll believe such nonsense, do you?"

I guess he thought he would trust me because he kept his mouth shut right away. Stupidly.

"If you don't give me a good reason by the count of three, I'm going to put this dagger in your throat."

"Young lady, that's..."

 'One... Two..."

The man tried to make an excuse. but I ignored him and continued the count.

"Damn, Ghellan anasid! The man ordered it!"

Then the man paused for a moment and shouted loudly.

"Woman, if you spend one night with the Lady, I will marry you and be Duke Leopold!"

I thought someone from the inside would have helped this man, but I didn't know it would be Ghellan.

"Hey, Young Lady. Now, if you would put the dagger away..."

As I put away the dagger, the man exhaled loudly, visibly relieved.

'It's still too early to feel relieved.'

I twisted my lips, adjusted the dagger, and struck the man's neck hard against the handle.

"Ugh."

The man's body went limp with a single scream. After confirming that the man had fainted, she pulled the rope and called the maid.

"Did you call me, Lady … !”

The maid was startled when she saw the man lying on the bed and stepped back.

I asked, pointing to the scented candle the maid left on the nightstand.

"Did you prepare that scented candle?"

"yes? Oh, no. That scented candle was given to me by Ghellan. He said he was worried about the young Lady's condition."

Ghellan's name also appears here. This makes it almost certain that he is a follower.

"That's it."

It was important to judge the maid's mistakes and punish her, but there was work to be done first.

I said, getting off the bed and picking up the shaw I had draped over the back of the sofa.

"Call the Ghellans right now."
