SOIC - Chapter 76

Episode 76. Breathing Sounds Fluttering Like Butterflies

Olivia's eyes widened at Noah's words, and she stared at him, speechless. He was silent for a moment, then spoke again.

“Take off your corset.”

It was the best way to solve the problem, but at the same time, it was the most difficult way for Olivia at the moment.

When Olivia's lips seemed to turn blue, perhaps because of her mood, Noah continued speaking a little longer.

"I'm your husband now. So don't worry about saving face in front of me and figure out a way to make things better."

Even though he said that, her hesitation was evident, so Noah said with a calm expression.

"That's better than fainting on your honeymoon. For you or me."

Olivia stared blankly at her husband's face, her eyes wide.

It was as if he had a sign on his forehead that said, 'The worst thing you can do here is faint or vomit.'

Even though he's my husband, even though he's the first person I ever laid my lips with, even though he's the one I'm going to have to try out different types of sex with tonight!

But how could I take off my clothes so easily in front of him? If it were easy, I would have done it already!

But seeing Noah's expression, devoid of any consideration, concern, or even a shred of rational curiosity, strangely filled her with courage. The man didn't seem to care whether she took her clothes off or not.

As nausea began to creep up on her, Olivia hesitated for a moment before turning slightly and speaking.

“...Then, Your Highness... First, I need to unbutton the button on my back, but I can’t do it alone. Please help me.”

The voice became smaller, as if it were crawling.

Noah blinked blankly, as if he hadn't thought he'd have to do it himself, and then came to his senses.

He glanced at the windows on all sides, quickly drew the curtains, and sat down next to Olivia. She sat with her back to him, facing the carriage wall.

Her smooth, slender back was adorned with dozens of tiny pearl buttons.

Meanwhile, Olivia was breathing painfully.

“Is it okay if I solve all of this?”

“Yes. If you undo that, you’ll see the corset fastening...”

Surprisingly, she was in so much pain that she didn't even feel ashamed.

Noah removed the gloves he was wearing and began unbuttoning Olivia's neck, starting with the buttons at the nape of her neck. With each button undone, the hem of her dress, which had been constricting her upper body, slowly opened.

Noah's gaze was fixed on the sharply raised wing bones.

He looked at her white back with shadowy eyes, and unbuttoned her buttons more quickly with his long fingers.

As the corset that had been cinching her upper body became increasingly visible, Noah frowned. Just looking at how tightly it was tightening around her body was enough to take his breath away.

Noah pulled the tied ribbon without hesitation and untied it.

At the same time, Olivia let out a sigh of relief.

“Haa, haa...”

Her back rose and fell rapidly, and the sound of her rumbling breathing tickled his ears.

Even though it was the sound of a fragile life barely reviving, for some reason, he felt a boiling feeling in his stomach.

Noah let out a long, slow breath he had been holding and slowly lowered his hands.

The sharp curve from the nape of the neck to the shoulder, the sharp shadows created by the pointed shoulder blades, and the straight lines created by the spine were visible through the open clothes.

Noah took another deep breath and slowly turned his gaze away from her.

A reddish light shone sharply through the thick curtains of the window. Noah sat upright in his chair and glanced through the curtains.

The sunset was painting the entire world red. The crimson liquid seeping into the eyes of the greenery appeared as fiery as molten iron in a blast furnace.

His gaze was fixed outside the window, but all his attention was focused on the carriage.

Only when he felt Olivia straighten up, along with the rustling sound, did Noah turn his head towards her.

Olivia bit her lip.

“Are you feeling better?”

"... Yes."

After answering quietly, she slowly raised her gaze and looked at him.

Red light poured in from all directions, penetrating the curtains and dyeing the carriage's interior crimson. Olivia's pale face flushed once again, perhaps because of the light, or because she was truly red.

Noah's gaze followed the contours of her face and rested on her plump lips.

His pulse, which had been calm until then, suddenly surged, and this time, his breath was suffocated.

The feel of the buttons and ribbons that had touched his fingertips was still vivid, and he clenched and unclenched his fists several times.

Only silence remained inside the carriage.

Meanwhile, Olivia's breathing became easier, and her heart rate started to improve.

As her body got better, it was a short trip to Hamuel.

Noah remained silent after that, but Olivia didn't dare speak. All her attention was focused on her clothes.

The good news was that even though the buttons were undone, the dress was so tight that it didn't slip down. The bad news was that her husband had absolutely no patience.

Olivia was calculating the time and asked Noah to fasten her dress back to her with ten minutes left before she arrived.

“Your Highness, if you pull the ribbon a little more, the button will close.”

“I can’t do it.”

“Please. I beg you. Please button it.”

"Impossible. How did you lock this? Shouldn't you have made the clothes a size larger in the first place?"

“Please don't say that. Just button it up.”

Noah buttoned about ten buttons before giving up and shaking his head.

"It's a waste of effort. You'll just take it off and change into something else soon anyway."

“But how can I get off like this?”

As Olivia looked back with a desperate expression, Noah draped his jacket, which was covered with many draperies, over her shoulders.

“Get off like this.”

“Even if I go down like this, I have to show it to the people who serve me.”

“What’s the problem? You must be getting along well.”

Olivia was left speechless by the shameless words and expression.

“And it’s already too late.”

As he said, the carriage slowed significantly and eventually came to a stop. Noah nodded and got out first as soon as the door opened, while Olivia squeezed her eyes shut and then opened them, clutching Noah's jacket tightly.

As she leaned out of the carriage, Noah extended his hand to her. His expression seemed playful, and Olivia bit her lip.

“Oh, you seem to be feeling cold. I’ll turn up the bedroom temperature a little.”

When Hamuel's maid, who had come out to greet him, quickly spoke to the Princess wearing the Prince's jacket, Noah nodded with a cheeky expression.

“The Princess is a bit sensitive to the cold.”

“...”

And after a while.

Olivia wanted to disappear at the sight of the shocked expressions on the faces of the maids and servants who had witnessed the truth hidden in the Prince's jacket.

Hamuel's mansion was perfectly prepared for the royal couple's honeymoon. A sumptuous meal was prepared for Olivia, who had changed from her uncomfortable wedding dress into comfortable attire.

"It's customary for newlyweds to have their first meal separately. Starting tomorrow, we'll be having it together."

In keeping with Herod's tradition of having a couple's first meal with the rising sun, the couple's dinner was served separately.

The chef came to personally explain the dish, but Olivia couldn't eat much. Meanwhile, the sun had completely set, and pitch-black darkness had descended.

While the head maid was loosening her hair, several maids came over and carefully removed Olivia's makeup.

“After washing your body in warm water, you will move to the master bedroom.”

The maid smiled, remembering the dress that had been completely unbuttoned under her jacket.

I won't say anything more since I think you already know what I mean.

Olivia, seeing the head maid's meaningful face, was inwardly furious.

That's not it! That's not it! I haven't done anything yet!

The servants, unaware of Olivia's true intentions, were busy dressing her up with sinister smiles.

And Olivia, who was being decorated with their sinister smiles, remembered the learning she had desperately learned in the face of the reality that was right in front of her.

Olivia was a person who had no choice but to live an active life.

If there was one thing she learned from her life as a young head of household, having to take care of her grandmother while struggling to do jer own part, it's that when something comes up, it's better to face it head-on.

“This fragrance is made from this year’s tuberose harvest. Do you like the scent?”

“Yes, I like it.”

She answered like that, but the scent didn't really matter.

The bride, facing her wedding night, was habitually preoccupied with thinking about how to deal with what would happen that night.

Because she was planning to clash actively this night too.

When will I find the courage to remain calm and courageous in any situation?

Margot always whispered to Olivia, "You're strong," but Olivia would tilt her head inwardly whenever she heard those words.

Because for Olivia, life was a series of tensions and turmoil.

As she walked down the dimly lit hallway, she felt as if she were traversing her life, unable to see an inch ahead of her.

Her heart pounded wildly beneath her palms, which were tightly gripping the closure of the flowing silk gown.

She was at a loss as to how to resolve tonight's situation with him. To be honest, she didn't really understand it.

No matter how hard she racked her brain, it was impossible to come up with a wise solution to a situation she had never experienced before.

'I'm going crazy...'

Just as the absurd thought of wishing this road would never end crossed her mind, the head maid stopped in front of a large, beautiful golden door. It was customary to knock when entering a superior's room, but without knocking, the head maid grabbed the handle and turned the door, opening it.

As if the being in the room was waiting for her.

As the heavy door opened, the head maid bowed her head respectfully.

Olivia, not mentally prepared, internally flinched, but her feet steadily moved toward the open door.

And the moment she stepped into the room beyond the invisible boundary, where golden flames flickered, Olivia instinctively felt his presence.
