SOIC - Chapter 75

Episode 75. Take it off

The three-hour long parade ended at the entrance to the highway connecting Harrington and Hamuel. The two men were planning to change carriages there and head straight to the Hamuel mansion.

The guards and large carriages that were to escort them were already waiting at the entrance to the road, and among them were some unexpected people.

"Princess!"

As Olivia approached her with a smile, Margot smiled softly and bowed politely to her.

Princess Marguerite, who had renounced her right to the succession, had to pay respects to Olivia, the Duchess and Princess Consort.

Olivia whispered, grabbing Margot's hand with a puzzled look on her face.

"Professor."

Margot looked up at her, her eyes wide, and a smile. Whether she was wearing a tiara or a dress, Olivia was still Olivia.

"I postponed the boat departure time because I thought it would be a shame to leave without seeing you. But I still have to go soon."

As Olivia's eyes reddened, Margot raised her hand and caressed her beautiful eyes. The words she had been too embarrassed to say finally caught her on her heels.

Margot carefully brought out the words she had been repeating to herself dozens of times.

"I hope the days ahead of you are as warm as the sunlight, as gentle as a gentle breeze. Even so, there will be difficult days, but consider them as rain that strengthens the earth. Sometimes, hide in any shade and hope the rain will pass."

Olivia nodded slowly. When tears finally welled up in her eyes, Margot smiled and wiped them away with her own hands.

“I hope you are happy in your new home, Olivia.”

“If the professor hadn’t been there, I probably would have collapsed.”

“No, you are strong.”

“...”

"This day is no coincidence. And it's not the final destination. It's simply part of the life you're building."

Margot smiled and slowly stroked Olivia's cheek, then backed away neatly, as was typical of her.

Then she approached Noah, who was behind Olivia. Noah stared blankly at his aunt as she approached, then opened his mouth.

“Don’t just enjoy the banquet and leave.”

"Don't say that, Noah. Walter already has a seat at that banquet, and your father's temper is sharp as ever."

“It’s a good thing I’m not there.”

"Well, the last time I saw the Queen was with her head in her hands. So, Usher must be dying."

As Noah chuckled, Margot hesitated for a moment before carefully patting her nephew's strong arm.

“I’m sorry about what happened the other day.”

"No."

“Please be happy.”

As Noah nodded, Margot glanced back and forth between the couple before turning around. Olivia quickly followed, but Margot pushed her hand away and coolly climbed into the carriage.

“Call me when you come to Pulder!”

"Professor!"

“Stop chasing me and hurry up and leave for Hamuel!”

The royal spirit, Marguerite, walked away with a bitter laugh.

After Margot left, Olivia took off her tiara and veil and boarded the carriage bound for Hamuel. She also sent the bouquet along with the royal staff carrying the tiara.

Noah dodged the hem of Olivia's dress, which filled the carriage, and finally decided that he couldn't avoid it, so he took care not to step on it.

He took off his heavily decorated jacket and leaned against the back of the carriage, letting out a long sigh.

"Ha..."

He had been busy since dawn, and after being bombarded by camera lights and eardrum-splitting shouts all day, his whole body felt heavy as if it had been soaked in water.

He opened his eyes slightly and saw Olivia sitting across from him, her back straight. Seeing her utterly uncomfortable, Noah closed his eyes again and spoke languidly.

"Just wait. Or lie down. No one's watching."

“...”

“It’ll take two hours to get to Hamuel. Get some sleep.”

“Yes, go to sleep.”

A rustling sound accompanied the whispering voice. It seemed as if someone was straightening the hem of a dress that was so voluminous it was almost overflowing.

Noah let out a slow, languid breath and fell into a deep sleep.

Olivia looked at Noah with envy. Noah told her to lean back and get some shut-eye, but there was something he didn't know: the corset.

This corset was bearable when standing, but sitting down was killing her. She had to straighten her back as much as possible to breathe, but the moment she relaxed her back, it crushed jer entire lungs, making it difficult to breathe.

Olivia leaned her head against the carriage wall, her back stiff.

It's going to take two hours like this.

Just thinking about it made her feel dizzy.

And thirty minutes later, Olivia seriously considered whether she should stop the carriage. But outside the window, there was nothing but fields, fields, fields.

Noah remained motionless in his seated position. Even his sleeping form was magnificent, and the Prince looked remarkably peaceful.

Olivia was truly envious of him.

And after another 30 minutes, Olivia reached her limit.

Now, no matter how hard she straightened her back, she couldn't breathe. The tightness in her chest was worse than the tightness in jer stomach.

No matter how hard she took a deep breath, her lungs seemed to have collapsed, and she was out of breath. Even the rough rocking of the ship made her feel seasick, something she hadn't experienced before. She truly felt like she was going to die. Her breathing grew louder.

Meanwhile, Noah, who had been sleeping motionless for an hour on the other side, finally opened his eyes to the sound of an unusual breathing piercing his ear.

And when he opened his eyes, he was met with Olivia, pale and breathing heavily. Noah sprang to his feet and quickly asked.

"What's the matter?"

“...”

Olivia kept her lips shut, even as she exhaled with a gasp.

Noah frowned and blinked. Wasn't she the same woman who was fine even on a boat that rocked so hard it felt like it was going to capsize? Then it couldn't be seasickness.

“Do you want to go to the bathroom?”

"No."

“Then why are you like this? Don’t be foolish and hold it in. Speak up.”

Olivia chewed her lips and spoke in a dry voice that showed not a shred of patience.

“Please call the maid who is coming with you.”

Without saying a word, Noah immediately opened the window and stopped the carriage.

“Bring the maid.”

The maid who had been riding in the carriage following the Prince's dry command appeared immediately. She opened her eyes in surprise at the sight of Olivia's pale face.

“Your Highness, are you feeling unwell?”

Noah was still sitting on the other side, legs crossed, staring intently at Olivia. He had no intention of getting out of the carriage in the first place.

Olivia looked away from Noah and spoke softly.

“I want to change my clothes.”

Out of the blue here?

Noah tilted his head and opened his eyes dimly, and the maid spoke in a bewildered voice.

"What should I do? The items you need have already been moved to Hamuel, so there are no clothes to change into."

“Not even one?”

"Sorry."

Olivia's eyes darkened.

She has to wear this corset for another hour.

“I’m sorry, Your Highness.”

Olivia quickly shook her head at the maid's repeated apologies.

"You have nothing to be sorry about. Yes. I'll go to Hamuel and change."

The maid glanced at Olivia's face several times before finally getting out of the carriage. Olivia straightened as much as she could and spoke to Noah.

“Your Highness, let’s set off again.”

Noah let out a short breath at the sound of a dying voice.

"We need to talk about the problem properly to solve it. Why are you suddenly changing clothes here?"

“...”

“It’ll take another hour. Can you stand it?”

There was even a hint of irritation in his dry voice. Seeing his stubborn face, which seemed as if he wouldn't even set off unless he spoke properly, Olivia finally poured out her grievances.

“I can’t breathe because of the corset.”

"...Uh?"

Noah asked back a beat late at the unexpected words.

Olivia exhaled sharply and ran her hand over her stomach.

"I'm not used to wearing a corset. It's bearable when I'm standing, but when I sit down, it's hard to breathe."

And then he realized she was struggling, as if she couldn't breathe. Noah looked at her abdomen with a puzzled expression. Her slender waist, barely the width of his palm, was rapidly rising and falling.

Noah, who had been silent for a moment, soon ordered the guards outside the window to start the chariot.

Since it's come to this, it would be better to arrive as quickly as possible.

As the carriage began to move again, Olivia closed her eyes. She desperately wished for sleep, praying for time to pass quickly.

Still, she couldn't stand the nausea and dizziness.

Oh my gosh. I have to go like this for another hour.

At that moment, a clear voice flew into Olivia's ears as she was struggling in frustration.

“Take it off.”
