IYDGMYD - Chapter 140

I quite liked the neat and tidy rental mansions, which were intended for nobles from distant regions who rarely visited the capital and thus did not seek out separate mansions.

My favorite part was the greenhouse.

'I chose this mansion because of this greenhouse.'

The greenhouse, overgrown with beautiful flowers and broad-leaved trees that you wouldn't find in Ronheim, made it feel like it was spring or summer, not winter.

No, actually, even though I wasn't in a greenhouse, I often thought it was summer while I was in the capital.

I asked Callius, who was drinking tea next to me.

"Isn't this greenhouse truly beautiful? The moment I saw it, I knew I wanted to live in this mansion."

“Enjoy it without any worries, Chloe.”

"How about asking Luca to create a greenhouse just as warm as this one in Ronheim? A greenhouse filled with blooming flowers?"

“That doesn’t sound bad. Do as you wish.”

Callius smiled meaningfully.

“Because Chloe’s specialty is tending flower gardens.”

I laughed heartily when I realized she was talking about the time she proposed marriage to him, saying she would plant a flower garden in Ronheim.

"That's right. Growing useful flower gardens is my specialty. But this time, I'm thinking of cultivating a luxurious flower garden. A greenhouse where, literally, beautiful flowers bloom."

In the past, I would have wanted to build a greenhouse and grow vegetables and fruits that don't grow well in Ronheim.

But now, with Luca's magic circle, it's easy to transport those things to Ronheim.

Not only that, but the Szeged merchants could also transport rare spices and various food products from around the world to Ronheim.

Thanks to this, a diverse food culture has developed in Ronheim these days.

Ronheim was slowly shifting away from a culture that prioritized survival and practicality.

I was pleased with the change, because it meant there was more room in Ronheim.

“But isn’t it a little hot here, Callius?”

There was tea with ice in Callius' glass.

He had been craving ice water ever since he came to the capital, as the weather there seemed to be too hot for him.

"Well, the weather here feels warm to me, but it must be even warmer for Callius. Should we move?"

They say humans are creatures of adaptation, and I've gotten used to the cold in Ronheim, so this weather isn't cold at all.

The capital's winters were warmer than Ronheim's late summers.

'When I lived in the palace, I would shiver at the slightest breeze that passed by in the fall.'

I watched as Callius smiled silently and lifted his glass to drink tea.

The water droplets that had formed on the surface of the glass flowed down Callius's lips and slowly ran down his chin.

The heat I felt from Callius, combined with the heat of the greenhouse, made me once again delude myself into thinking it was midsummer.

“This level of heat isn't that bothersome. It's also nice to see Chloe happy.”

Callius's honest words still make me a little shy, but I've gotten used to them and can listen to them without any hesitation when no one is around.

I absentmindedly raised my hand and touched the drop of water running down his neck.

The water droplets at my fingertips lost their shape and were crushed.

I could feel Callius's pulse vividly at my fingertips. It was a strong pulse.

I sat close to him, putting my arm around his shoulder, and quietly felt his pulse in my hand.

“Callius’ heart is like a healthy horse full of strength.”

“You’ve been wanting a healthy horse lately, and you’ve found what you want in me.”

Callius chuckled softly.

His laughter vibrated through my fingertips, running down my arms and tickling my chest.

I naturally accepted his presence as he lifted me up and sat me on his lap, resting my forehead on his neck.

It felt like a powerful pulse was pounding through my forehead, my head, and my entire body.

“Maybe Callius always gives me what I want.”

His heat enveloped my body tightly, making my breathing slightly hotter.

I picked up the glass he had put down.

Tilting the almost empty glass, I took an ice cube in my mouth like candy and whispered,

“Are you hot?”

“Callius is making me hot.”

I hugged his back with both arms and sighed softly.

This is because the heat that had accumulated near the back of the chair was considerable.

I slightly pulled away from him and looked at him, asking.

“Shall I cool you down?”

"How?"

I pulled his neck and passed the ice from one lip to the other, then smiled.

"Like this?"

For a moment, Callius's golden eyes flashed.

I felt a small shiver as I locked eyes with a wild beast.

At the same time, the view was reversed.

The ceiling of the greenhouse was visible, and my back was touching the couch next to me.

Callius was looking down at me, licking the moisture from the ice on the corner of his mouth with his tongue.

“It’s not enough.”

His arms were tightly wrapped around my shoulders.

As he lowered himself further, his weight felt heavy and hot on my stomach and thighs.

I looked up at him, gasping for breath.

Then, the moment he lowered his face, he raised his hand and covered his mouth.

His lips, cold and hot, touched the back of my hand.

Looking at his narrowed eyes as if he couldn't understand this rejection, I moved my lips in the palm of my hand and mumbled.

“Guests are coming soon, Callius.”

“...”

I smiled mischievously and pushed him away slightly.

“That’s all for now.”

As I smiled cutely, Callius sighed deeply and stepped back.

Why do I find it so enjoyable to see that discontented expression on his face, something I rarely see when I'm with him?

Callius glanced at me as he saw me chuckle.

“I should have left Lamia in Ronheim.”

“Why Lamia all of a sudden?”

“Because she’s the only one who can teach Chloe this kind of bad behavior.”

“Lamia is innocent.”

I firmly denied it and inwardly stuck out my tongue at his quick wit.

***

Today, three wizards visited the mansion of the Marquis Rodrian and his wife.

They had heard rumors about Chloe's magical artifact and had come to visit as a representative of the magicians of the Magic Tower.

The wizards who were led to the reception room stopped one by one when they saw Chloe and Callius.

When I saw Chloe smiling and welcoming me, I was so taken aback by her smile that I stopped for a moment, and when I saw Callius loitering by the window, a chill ran down my spine, and I stopped for a moment.

It was well known that northerners were larger than southerners.

Most of the wizards were southerners with roots in the now-defunct Kingdom of Stony, the southernmost part of the continent.

These three wizards, who had never been near the North before, faced Callius with the thought that they would 'see with their own eyes how great the Northwoman is.'

However, when the wizards actually encountered Callius, they froze in place, unable to even estimate the difference in physique between this northerner, whom they had never seen before, and themselves.

It was because the terrifying gaze of Callius, who had a face that looked like he was going to tear people apart, held them captive.

The idea that northerners are big quickly changed to the idea that northerners have scary looks.

“Ah, ah, hello, Marquis Rodrian. It’s an honor to meet you.”

A wizard quickly came to his senses and greeted Callius.

Then, in two or three steps, Callius slowly approached from one end of the parlor to the other and suddenly held out his hand.

The wizard quickly wiped his palms on his clothes and shook Callius' hand.

But it soon became clear that taking Callius' hand was a mistake.

“I’m just a bystander, so don’t worry about it and have a meaningful conversation with my wife.”

“Ah!”

“If possible, as quickly and promptly as possible.”

“Hey, give me your hand.”

As Callius released the strength in his hand, the struggling wizard took the slender, delicate hand, which seemed to have no strength at all, into his bosom.

A few tears of pain welled up in the corners of his eyes and dangled.

The wizards, their spirits completely drained, looked at Callius's glaring eyes as if he were looking at an intruder and thought.

They say northerners are quick-tempered and rough, and it really is.

But Chloe, who knew why Callius was acting like that, smiled and shook her head as if she couldn't stop him.

It was fortunate that the wizards seemed to interpret their experiences as cultural and biological differences.

Chloe said as she guided the wizards to their seats.

“You said you had questions about the magical artifacts you were planning to handle at the top of Szeged?”

"Yes, yes, that's right. I've heard great rumors about it, and I'd like to see such a magnificent object in person. I also have many questions to ask, so I've come despite my rudeness."

“I see. That’s good. It shouldn’t be difficult to show you the items.”

A smile of relief spread across the faces of the wizards who were in a sorry position as they watched Chloe readily nod.

But they couldn't laugh any longer at Chloe's next words.

“But before that, let me start by making it clear that I cannot provide this magical artifact and the mana stones used in it to the Magic Tower and its magicians.”

“Huh? What is that...!”

Chloe smiled faintly.

“Because I am against the actions of the Magic Tower, which condoned and participated in biological experiments.”
