IWAEBS - Chapter 266 < Put My Wife Down >

"What is this...? What is this?!?"

I couldn't believe it, even as I watched the phenomenon unfolding within my body.

Dozens of red lights emitted from my heart, absorbing the wyverns' flames as if they were absorbing fire.

The wyverns were even more surprised than I was.

I saw dozens of red eyes dart around.

The red light didn't simply block the wyverns' fire. It had the power to weaken the intensity of the fire itself.

The wyverns' flames, which had been gushing as if they would consume everything, gradually weakened and then suddenly stopped.

With the red light, sharp as a sword, blocking their flames, they must have realized that their desperate efforts to spit fire were futile. As the wyverns' flames vanished, the red lights, as if returning to their original positions, entered my heart.

"Ahhh..."

My heart was pounding so hard it was a wonder it didn't explode.

I placed a hand on my heart and took a deep breath.

“Zelda! Are you alright?”

The Magic Tower Master raised both hands to check my energy, trying to stabilize the heat in my body.

“My heart hurts a little...”

I spat out, but my throat felt as hot as a fire pit.

“It’s probably because the power is being unleashed for the first time since imprinting with the Incarnation Sword.”

“Will it be this difficult every time I borrow the power of the Incarnation Sword?”

If that was the case, I thought I should reconsider imprinting with the Incarnation Sword.

“No, it’s probably because it’s the first time.”

The Magic Tower Master spoke confidently, immediately using his magic to calm my body’s heat, but the effect was minimal.

If Linel were here, this problem would be easily solved...

The heat that had vanished in an instant at his embrace, lips, and touch didn’t easily subside.

“Baby, please bear with it a little longer,”

I said to myself, placing both hands on my stomach.

Even if I were to go, I had to negotiate with the wyverns before I could.

“See? Now you guys are in big trouble, this is it! Everyone is going to get their butts spanked by our master, Moiya~?”

“Ah! Who’s going to get spanked first~?”

Moiya and Moni were swaggering around the adults.

The wyverns shrugged their shoulders and watched me closely.

As I took a step closer, they all glanced at me with frightened eyes.

A small voice said, “I’m sorry!” from somewhere.

The timid apologies began to pour out.

“Master! Please forgive their rudeness!”

The leader cried out, prostrating himself.

I glanced down at the leader, who was lowering himself before looking back up at the wyverns.

They were all quite perceptive, and one by one, they prostrated themselves on the ground and submitted to me.

“Do you now accept me as your master?”

“Yes, master!!”

Everyone answered in unison, but the large wyvern stood there awkwardly, unable to do anything, with an embarrassed expression.

“What are you? Why don’t you kneel?”

I asked with the charisma of a wyvern lord.

“Uh, uh...?”

Even the large wyvern, which had begun to speak politely to me, seemed to have already accepted its fate.

“Even the old man is kneeling, so why are you, a young man, standing stiffly? This won’t do. Moiya, Moni. You two have to help.”

As soon as my order was given, the two guys flew towards the large wyvern like lightning.

“Kneel down.”

“Yes, master!”

“This is exciting! I haven’t broken any bones yet, Moni~.”

“Moni, I didn’t tell you to break his legs.”

“Then how do I make him kneel?”

“Is this how we should do it, Moiya~?”

Moiya kicked the large wyvern’s shin.

“Ugh!”

Then, one of the large wyvern's knees buckled forward.

Despite its small size, Moiya's inherent strength was immense.

The large wyvern glared at Moiya with a humiliated expression, but did not rise again.

"I did not know you, Master, and my actions were reckless, so please forgive me just this once."

The captain turned around and sided with the large wyvern.

"Sir, that bastard tried to harm not only me but also you. Will you forgive him? If you do, I will let him go this time."

I gave the captain a choice.

The large wyvern looked at him with a very anxious expression.

The captain bowed his head to me and said.

“Everything happened because I failed to fulfill my duty as a leader. So, if you will be lenient, Master, I will make sure this never happens again!”

The large wyvern showed signs of remorse at the captain’s sincere plea.

“Fine. But I will not tolerate any more reckless behavior. Let’s just let this pass this time.”

I said to the captain and turned my gaze to the large wyvern.

“If the captain hadn’t forgiven you, you would have been cut down by the incarnation sword. So thank you, Captain.”

The incarnation sword might not have been able to kill him, but who cares?

It was important to calm his spirit for now.

“Thank you, Master! Thank you, Captain!”

The large wyvern repeated, bowing his head repeatedly.

But Moiya interrupted, shouting, “Wait!”

“Our master saved your life, so you should be blinded!”

“What, what? Are you seeking revenge?”

“Oh? Do I look that petty? Am I not the kind of wyvern who keeps things to themselves after getting slapped in the eye?”

Moiya roared, flying in front of the large wyvern’s face and placing a hand on its waist.

“I understand that you did that because you look so cute, Moiya, but you even talk back to that old man who looks so old, and you’re the one who tried to be the leader, right?”

Moiya whispered in a stern tone like a judge.

“It’s obvious that you’re doing this out of revenge... Moiya,”

Magic Tower Lord whispered in my ear.

I wholeheartedly agreed with that, but I didn’t bother to stop Moiya.

As Moiya said, I can forgive them for not recognizing me, Moiya, and Moni. But the large wyvern was the one who tried to start a rebellion after eliminating the leader of the pack.

Although I forgave him at the captain's request, I was still uneasy about getting away with anything, so I was thankful that Moiya had stepped forward.

"Th-thank goodness, then you hit me too. Will that be alright?"

The large wyvern finally surrendered and raised its broad face towards Moiya.

"Since you're still a cub, your fists are as cute as your face. That's why one hit won't count. I'll hit you the size of your fist to be fair."

It sounded absurd, yet reasonable.

Moiya tightly balled his small fists and shouted boldly.

"Here we go~!"

"Ah! Get your fists ready~ Shoot at the eyeballs!"

Moni counted to Moiya's shouts and began punching the large wyvern around its eyes with his fists.

"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten...!"

Moiya's small fists drew precise circles, quickly striking the large wyvern around its eyes.

Moiya, if this isn't revenge, then what is?

"Ugh... Moiya, or Mogiya, hey! It hurts so much!"

"Big guy. Don't let me off the hook. Do you know I'm your friend? Tell me I'm Lord Moiya. Even to Moni!"

"...Ah, I got it, I got it! Stop hitting me!"

The large wyvern finally raised its voice to Moiya.

That was enough.

"Moiya, stop. Enough."

If I didn't stop him, Moiya looked like he was going to hit the other eye, too.

"Yes, master!"

Fortunately, Moiya seemed quite satisfied with his revenge and meekly backed away.

"Um... master. Is there anything you wish from us?"

The captain stood up and asked me in a serious voice.

"What do you wish?"

"We only follow your orders, master. So feel free to say anything. Do you also wish to start a war and put this world under your heel?"

The wyverns already knew about the greed of humans who tried to use them.

“I want peace. As long as no one threatens me, my family, or my friends, I have no intention of using the Wyverns to wage war.”

The Wyverns reacted with surprise at my words.

“Really?”

The captain asked, his face showing a touch of concern.

“Of course. But if I am ever exposed to unexpected danger, will you help me? I will be passing through this valley soon. It won’t be a big deal, but just in case...”

“Don’t worry. I will fly whenever you call, Master!”

“That’s right! Just call!”

The Wyverns flapped their wings in unison and sang.

My long hair, which I had barely managed to straighten, was once again in waves and disheveled.

“Thank you all,”

I said, raising my voice to the Wyverns.

“I’m indeed the lord of the wyverns, but I’m not just someone who gives orders! I believe it’s also my job to protect you and lead you on the right path!”

“Master... isn’t it so cool, Moni~?”

“I’m shedding tears, Moiya~?”

As the two sobbed and caught the wind, sobs could be heard here and there in the cave.

“Our master... long live!!”

“Long live!!”

As Moiya and Moni shouted, all the wyverns raised their hands and repeated.

“We must go back for today. Without me, the captain will be your leader just like before. So, please follow the captain’s orders well.”

I left them with a word of advice, looking directly at the large wyvern with a warning gaze.

“Don’t worry, master! Hahahaha.”

The large wyvern nodded vigorously and quickly went behind the captain, rubbing his shoulder and teasing him.

“My joints aren’t good either, Moiya~.”

Then Moiya gently nudged my shoulder towards the large wyvern.

I chuckled and looked at the magic tower master.

“Let’s go back now.”

The whirlwind that had been swirling around my heart disappeared, and my heartbeat found stability, calming down. However, my peripheral vision began to blur.

“Yes, your complexion is not good. We must quickly see His Majesty and bring down the fever...”

The magic tower master’s voice could be heard from afar.

“...Lady Zelda!!”

I collapsed without being able to answer the magic tower master.

***

“Master, please don’t die!”

“Ah, it’s too sad to say goodbye to the wyverns right after meeting them, Moni~!”

Moiya and Moni cried out in tears.

Bellos carried the fallen Zelda and checked on her condition.

“Don’t worry. She must have fainted because her body temperature suddenly rose due to the energy of the Incarnation Sword. Let’s go back quickly.”

He calmed Moiya and Moni down and lifted Zelda into his arms.

“Oh? Really? Then, Master, take our master and go first.”

“Yes. We’ll stay here a little longer and then go.”

At his word that it was okay, the two wyvern cubs stopped crying and said.

“What are you guys going to do?”

“We need to talk to our brothers and sisters, Moiya~.”

Moiya put his hands behind his back and looked around at the wyverns.

“You can’t stay out overnight. Lady Zelda will worry.”

“Yeah, we should sleep at home, Moni~.”

Moni waved her hand, telling him not to worry.

“Then, I’ll leave the cleaning up to you.”

Bellos quickly began to recite a teleportation spell in his head.

In the blink of an eye, Bellos and the wyvern lord Zelda disappeared, startling the wyverns.

“Can we trust the one who took our master away?”

The wyverns, who had just been spitting fire to burn Zelda to a crisp, asked with worried eyes.

“Yes, he is a human who has a crush on our master, but he is not the kind to harm her.”

Moiya replied with a reassuring expression.

Moni, who was next to him, rubbed her chin and muttered.

“But... I have a feeling that His Majesty would harm the Magic Tower Lord.”

***

The same person you want to get rid of?

“Are you talking about... Zelda?”

Roxana mentioned her name without hesitation.

Emperor Adrian’s eyes flashed with murderous intent.

“As I expected, we are communicating quite well.”

Emperor Adrian leaned in closer to Roxana with a satisfied expression.

“Your Majesty, let me ask you directly.”

“Yes, of course.”

“Your Majesty, are you aware that there is a Wyvern Lord within the Lapion Imperial Palace?”

“...Yes?”

Does the Wyvern Lord actually exist?

Roxana’s mind raced.

If the Wyvern Lord exists... and if he is here in the Lapion Imperial Palace...

“Zelda... is it?”

The Magic Tower Lord had tried to make Zelda his consort, claiming that his departed incarnation was living symbiotically in her body.

“But if Zelda really is a Wyvern Lord as Emperor Adrian says...”

This was a big problem.

“The ministers of Lapion will change their stance and revere her as Empress once again!”

Roxana’s hands were trembling.

“If this fact becomes known, the countries of the Southern Continent will hold her in check, but the Lapion Empire will, on the contrary, revere Her Highness Zelda like a Saint, right? Isn’t that right?”

“T-That’s why?”

“If that happens, what will happen to Your Majesty the Empress’s position?”

Emperor Adrian asked with a pitiful expression.

Roxana briefly imagined her situation.

Even though it was just a fantasy, her skin felt like it had been whipped. She was already feeling terribly anxious, her situation growing increasingly miserable.

“How about it, Your Majesty? Would you like to become friends and help each other?”

Emperor Adrian offered Roxana a handshake.

“What do you mean by help?”

“Since we share the same goal, wouldn’t it be easier if we joined forces?”

“Goal?”

“Zelda. To eliminate the Wyvern Lord.”

“Very well. Let’s be friends.”

Roxana took Emperor Adrian’s outstretched hand and whispered,

“Do you have a plan?”

“Yes, the sea route to the Pasha Empire will be a great opportunity for us.”

Emperor Adrian said, kissing the back of Roxana’s hand.

***

The time to go to the Great Hall was approaching.

Linel decided it was time to rise from his chair.

Thinking he'd wait five more minutes, he let 30 minutes pass.

Knock, knock, Raphael knocked on the door.

Unable to delay any longer, he struggled to get out of the chair.

But at that moment, space-time seemed to bend in front of the bed, and Bellos appeared.

"Magic Tower Lord?"

Bellos was holding something precious in his arms.

He lowered his gaze from Bellos's face.

"...Zelda?!"

She was unconscious, slumped in Bellos's arms.

What on earth was this?

"Put my wife down right now!!"

Linel's reason was suddenly cut off.
