TBDNS - Chapter 138

Episode 138. Things Even the Emperor Can't Do

It was a peaceful morning.

Christine didn't know how much time had passed just by looking at Adele, who was sleeping with her face buried in his chest. And then he realized what the hunger he had been feeling all along was.

An emptiness that could not be filled, no matter how many countries he conquered or how high he climbed.

But now, everything felt full.

A languid morning where the morning sunlight slowly dyed the walls and bed orange.

He listened to Adele's breathing, which was rustling regularly in his arms, and was completely intoxicated by the sweet scent wafting through the bedroom.

If he had to give a name to this moment of peace and this moment of languidness, it would be 'happiness'.

If he could, he wanted to bookmark this moment as it was.

And he wanted to look at it for a long time.

However, his languid face gradually distorted. This was because he heard the footsteps of a group of people approaching from afar.

“Your Majesty, this is Lord Crichton. Are you still asleep?”

Damn it! That bastard!

He carefully got out of bed so as not to wake Adele, put on his robe, and went outside.

Outside, Zimmer, the wizard Kenny, and several knights and servants were standing.

“Follow me quietly.”

He led everyone to the study away from the bedroom, leaving only the knights guarding them behind.

He wanted to keep Adele sound asleep.

“So, is there an urgent report?”

He asked as soon as he entered the study. It was a threat that he would not leave him alone unless it was an urgent report.

Zimmer replied slyly.

“I apologize for waking you up from your deep sleep. I thought you would naturally wake up at dawn, even after the battle. I guess... your stamina is not as good as it used to be.”

Slurp... Woof!

Christine pulled out the rapier hanging on the wall and mercilessly swung it at Zimmer’s neck.

The people around him retreated in thought. But Zimmer, the person involved, bowed his head leisurely and avoided it, then said,

“Then last night’s battle was fierce.”

He raised his head again and smiled.

Christine threw down his rapier and sat cross-legged on the sofa.

“You can take a look.”

“I just received a message from Miss Leana.”

“So, where is she? Is everything okay?”

Then Kenny came forward with a fist-sized crystal ball. Leana’s face was reflected in the ball.

[Are you having a good time, Your Majesty?]

She seemed to know everything Christine did last night.

“All right. How’s the situation where you are?”

[We’ve just raided the rebel priests’ stronghold. Most of them have already disappeared, as if the information had leaked out.]

“Now, come back. Maurice might be using a decoy, so let’s figure out a way to call them out.”

[No. Just a little longer. Maurice is no match for me anymore.]

“Do I sound like I’m asking for something?”

When Christine spoke in a strong tone, Leana hesitated and then carefully opened her mouth.

[I heard a rumor that Maurice has a wolf clan. So I will investigate further to see what he is up to.]

“It is more likely to be Maurice’s trap.”

[Your Majesty!]

“Come back immediately, Leana. It is my order as your lord.”

Christine stopped as he entered the bedroom.

“Good morning, Your Majesty.”

Adele, who was standing by the window, turned to him and smiled.

Her white skin shone transparently in the morning sunlight, and her long, loose hair fluttered with the wind blowing the flower petals. The sight was so beautiful that it took his breath away.

“Stay still for a moment.”

Christine approached Adele carefully and hugged her tightly with both arms. As if he would never let her go again.

Adele’s slender fingers brushed his hair. His heart fluttered at the warm, soft feeling.

“I can’t believe it. That I get to greet the morning with you again.”

“Me too. When I opened my eyes, you weren’t here with me, so I wondered if last night was a dream. I almost burst into tears.”

“I’m sorry. I tried to stay with you until you woke up.”

“It doesn’t matter since you’re back here.”

Adele, who was hugging him, looked up at him lovingly and smiled.

“Are you really okay with that?”

“What’s that?”

He pressed his body against Adele, revealing his deep desire.

“Shouldn’t we finish what we couldn’t finish last night?”

Adele noticed his sinister intentions, but she pretended not to notice.

“What do you mean, unfinished work? I thought I did everything yesterday.”

“No. There are still many things I want to do. It’s been six years, so one night is not enough.”

“I’m sorry, but you don’t have time?”

Adele gently declined, but

“It doesn’t matter. I can postpone my schedule.”

His lips came close enough to touch.

However, Adele quickly released his arm and slid out.

“I’m sorry, but it’s not going to work out if you postpone your schedule.”

Christine chased after her again with an impatient face.

“Have you forgotten? The man in front of you is the Emperor, and the Emperor can do anything.”

“Well, after a while, you’ll realize that even the Emperor can’t do anything, right?”

“There’s no such thing!”

“Ouch!”

Christine quickly picked Adele up and carried her to the bed.

“Now, wait... Cri... Ugh!”

Adele tried to get away, but he kissed her absentmindedly and explored her soft skin.

Adele, who had been pushing him away at first, soon let out a sigh and kissed him deeply.

Their clothes fell one by one under the bed, and the two of them were getting hot in an instant.

Damn it... I forgot!

Christine stopped moving in an instant with a look of embarrassment. His developed senses detected the ominous sound.

Tap, tap...

The light sound of footsteps echoes through the hallway.

The sound soon became faster.

“Mom! Mom! It’s Aaron.”

The sound of the child’s presence could be heard through the hallway, making a clanging noise.

“Yes, Aaron. Wait a minute!”

Bang!

Adele threw Christine to the end of the bed in an instant, quickly got dressed, and began to smooth her messy hair.

Meanwhile, Christine just stared blankly, dumbfounded.

The force that had pushed him a moment ago was definitely not human.

He almost fell into the bed.

And how fast were the hands that were stroking her clothes...

Judging by the strength and the speed, Adele’s movements were more than enough to overwhelm him.

And then there was this terrifying momentum that scolded him.

“What are you doing? At least put on some clothes!”

If it were a battlefield, he would probably have been killed instantly by Adele.

“Huh? Huh... But Aaron is up so early?”

He quickly picked up the robe that had fallen on the floor and carefully closed the front, asking.

“He did wake up a little early today.”

“Damn...!”

Bam!

Aaron opened the door and came in at the same time.

***

“Did you sleep well, Aaron?”

Adele greeted Aaron with a gentle smile as if nothing had happened.

“Yes, did you sleep well, Mom... Huh, Your Majesty?”

“Did you sleep well, Aaron?”

Christine raised his hand in greeting with an awkward expression.

“Tch, Aaron is always the first one to greet Mom in the morning.”

“Sorry. I woke up a little early.”

“But why aren’t you wearing clothes?”

Christine looked down at his appearance, a little embarrassed. Although he was wearing a robe, he covered up everything that needed to be covered.

“Clothes, I'm wearing them?”

“That’s supposed to be worn over your pajamas. But Your Majesty isn’t wearing pajamas... Why are you in Mom’s room?”

“What?”

He was speechless for a moment. It felt like he was being treated like a pervert.

Zimmer, who was standing behind Aaron, nodded as if he wasn’t just feeling it.

Then Aaron grabbed Adele’s hand and urged her on.

“Mom, let’s go home now. What if Dad and my brothers are waiting for us?”

Christine and Adele looked at each other in embarrassment. They didn’t know how to explain this situation to their child.

Aaron was too young to understand the truth.

But it would be more regrettable for the child if they lied any longer.

Adele crouched down so that she was eye-level with Aaron.

“Do you remember Aaron? When Mom said that, when I looked into your eyes, I would think of someone and become happy.”

The child nodded, staring intently at Adele as if he had guessed what he was going to say.

“Yes.”

“That person was His Majesty. You were like that, too. His Majesty’s eyes are just like yours.”

“Yes...”

“Because Aaron’s real father... is His Majesty. The father at the clinic was the one who looked after Mom and Aaron until His Majesty returned.”

“I don’t understand a single word you’re talking about.”

The child’s face turned as if he were about to cry. As if he doesn't understand the whole situation.

Christine also knelt down to be on Aaron’s level.

“I’m sorry, Aaron. It’s all my fault. I couldn’t find you and Mommy while I was sick. I’ll be really good to you from now on.”

But Aaron didn’t believe him.

“Lies! Your Majesty is a liar!”

“Aaron...”

“When Aaron is sick, I want to see Mommy first. Because Mommy is the best. Oh! But that’s why I don’t like you not coming because I'm sick! That’s why Your Majesty is a lying fool!”

The child’s resentment was felt as it was, so each word pierced him like a dagger.

He hugged the child tightly and muttered,

“Yes, Your Majesty is a fool. How can I only now recognize such a beautiful child like you?”

“Let go! Let go! If you don’t, I’ll beat you! Boar! Stinkfoot! Shithead!”

As the child struggled and cried, Christine had no choice but to let him go.

Aaron ran out of the room.

“Aaron!”

He grabbed Adele, who was trying to run away.

“You just stay. This is my homework.”

“Welcome, Count Castler.”

Isabelle greeted Mark warmly. She had been enjoying tea time under a cherry blossom tree in full bloom since morning.

However, Mark had a stiff expression that did not match the bright morning.

“What business did you call me for?”

“Do you need someone to enjoy the spring garden with?”

“...!”

Isabelle laughed out loud.

“You don’t have to be so serious. First, have some tea. The black tea I got from Blue Gale tastes good.”

The maids pulled out the chair in front of Isabelle, and she filled her empty teacup herself.

However, Mark answered without moving from his spot.

“If you called me to offer me a position in the palace, I would decline.”

He remembered Seira’s words about recommending him for a position in the palace. They seemed to be trying to poison the Emperor by inducing Mark.

“You can decline slowly after listening to me. Please sit down for now, Count Castlet.”

“I think it will be sufficient to listen standing up.”

“Yes, then.”

Isabelle nodded to the maids behind her. They quickly took out vials from their large pockets and laid them out on the table.
