Episode 115. Rules of Newlywed Life (1)
I thought he was joking. I was very embarrassed because it was a joke he had never done before.
Such an adult joke...
My face turned red, and I pushed away his chest and went to the window. It was so that my blushing face wouldn’t be noticed.
I blurted out.
“You’re bad!”
“I know.”
“F*ck...”
I let out a harsh sound without realizing it, but I couldn’t think of what to say next.
Why were my lips tickling and my body heating up even though he hadn’t touched them?
I suddenly remembered and asked nervously.
“By any chance... did you dislocate the training captain’s shoulder on purpose?”
“Yes. I was going to pull it out, but held back.”
“Huh. Your Excellency!”
Prince Kydel was looking at me with his arms spread out on the back of the sofa and his legs crossed arrogantly. His face was indifferent, but his eyes seemed to be burning with flames.
He glared at me and said,
“He is my vassal. He is low in rank among my vassals. Why would someone who would not do that do that?”
“But...”
“Lady Lorisha Kydel.”
“Huk.”
His low, beautiful voice made me shiver all over my body when he called me that.
“Whatever their views on our marriage are, they don’t matter now. We are already a legal couple in the eyes of the Empire. So act accordingly. Otherwise, you will end up damaging my honor and authority.”
“...!”
“Isn’t that what you were afraid of all along? Causing harm to me.”
I had never thought of it that way. The concept of him and me being a community was completely foreign to me.
In any case, there was nothing wrong with what he said, and I didn’t want to cause him any harm.
He suddenly stood up and came towards me in an instant. I froze completely at that moment and stammered.
“T-I didn’t think of that, Your Excellency.”
“Well done, or wrong?”
“Wrong!”
“If you did something wrong?”
“I have to fix it.”
I answered with a stiff spirit at some point.
Was this the Kydel-style discipline?
He commanded firmly.
“You must fix it. Don’t go anywhere and don’t bow down. Remember that your current role is the daughter-in-law of the first lion of the empire and the small mistress of the Kydel family. Until I say it’s time, maintain that attitude.”
“Yes. I understand!”
I’m not saying you have to do it forever, but until I say it’s time...
“If there’s someone you can’t beat, tell your husband right away.”
Husband, husband!
I barely swallowed the trembling in my limbs and asked back.
“Tell... right?”
That doesn’t suit my nature...
“If you just suffer alone, they’ll laugh at me and think of me as a joke. Are you going to make me go around without even knowing that I’m being laughed at behind my back?”
“I’ll tell you!”
“If I’m away, tell Madame Olga.”
“Oh, yes.”
He glared and drove the wedge in.
“You know that, don’t you? I can’t live with losing. I can’t live with being beaten.”
“I know! I suffered so much because of that letter, Your Excellency. I know that well.”
Then his eyebrows twitched, one side of his eyebrows furrowing. But he continued.
“Was that really true? That you would help me put His Highness Grayon on the throne?”
“Of course. That’s the only way we can divorce. And it would be much better for Your Excellency if His Highness Grayon became Emperor.”
Then a sound like the growling of an animal came from his throat.
He suddenly grabbed my chin with his fingertips and lifted it up.
“I can’t promise anything, Madame Lorisha Kydel.”
“Yes. Yes?”
“So promise me only that you will be my complete ally and help me.”
“Ugh...!”
Before I could say anything, his hands seemed to wrap around my waist, and he covered my lips.
He ignored me as I struggled and... He did as he pleased.
After a while, he spoke with ragged breathing.
“I’ve stamped the seal, so the contract is established. Well, then, let’s go to sleep.”
I was so captivated by the strange heat floating in his eyes that I couldn’t think of a response.
While I was standing there blankly with my face red, he said, pulling on his jacket.
“His Highness Orl made Kalin Ankart the Princess’s maid. I heard that Her Highness Miliora slapped her four times in a row as soon as he saw her. And then she was immediately put on probation.”
“Yes...?”
“Tagar never forgets malice, Lorisha.”
I stammered.
“I, I was going to talk about that, but Her said the Princess sent us an invitation...”
“Of course you should go.”
Prince Kydel winked at me as he left the room.
“I’ll go to the Knights’ meeting for a moment. We look just like a married couple, Lorisha.”
Even during our honeymoon, Prince Kydel was extremely busy. However, no one bothered me.
While I was sitting in my room with nothing to do, all that came to mind were depressing thoughts. I became especially depressed when I thought of Prince Kydel.
'Don't do this, Lorisha.'
I slapped my cheek and called the maid to ask for tea. The one who brought my tea was the middle-aged maid, Nerissa.
"Thank you. The scent... ugh!"

"Thank you. The scent... ugh!"
The tea I took a sip of made my tongue tingle as if the skin was peeling off. I was sure that they had used stale tea powder or put something strange in it.
But Nerissa just stared at the wall with a calm face. I had a feeling about the situation.
It was going to start without fail. Damn it.
I mustered up all my strength and smiled and asked,
"Did you make this tea?"
She answered absentmindedly without even looking at me.
"No. I just brought it."
"I see. You, go and get me a locked box right now. It should be this big."
"What are you going to do?"
She finally looked at me, and I said as arrogantly as I could.
"Do I have to explain that to you?"
"..."
Nerissa left without answering, and only returned with the box after the tea had completely cooled. I took it, put my teacup in it, and locked it.
“Now go.”
“Why that...”
Instead of answering, I glared at her arrogantly, and Nerissa pretended to lose and left.
There were more than a few people who had shown me how to look down on others, so I could do that much.
Having set a trap, I put the key away in my bosom.
Kalin couldn’t adapt to the meals that the palace staff ate.
She spent all her waking hours studying, so she always had a poor appetite and was weak.
That’s why Kalin had a personal cook at Ankart, but the food for the palace servants was far from enough.
Everything in the palace was woefully inadequate for Kalin’s basic food, clothing, and shelter needs.
Long after lunchtime, Eria came to her and made a face.
“Maid, as I told you, if you eat alone in your room, you have to put away your own dishes.”
“Of course I heard that. I didn’t put them out there to get you to come.”
Kalin put a hairpin with a small jewel in Eria’s hand and said,
“Deliver my letter outside the palace. This will be enough in return.”
“...”
Eria went straight to Milliora with the letter and hairpin Kalin had given her.
Milliora opened the letter and read it, then looked over the hairpin and handed it to Eria.
“This is valuable, so take it.”
“No! Your Highness. I don’t want to.”
When Eria frowned, Milliora laughed.
“Deliver the letter however you want.”
“Yes?”
“Let’s see what happens.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
Eria tilted her head and left.
The next day, Princess Milliora received a gift from Viscount Ankart.
It was a hairband with many small, transparent jewels like ice.
She turned it around and said to Eria,
“Wow. It’s really pretty. Isn’t it? It must be really expensive.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
“This is a bribe from Viscount Ankart. Please take good care of my daughter.”
Eria’s eyes were wide open at the gorgeousness of the headband. But what surprised her even more was the Princess’s next words.
The Princess smiled while wearing the headband and said,
“Go to the head maid and tell her to beat Kalin. Is there a maid on guard who is secretly contacting the outside of the palace?”
Miliora took off the headband and examined it here and there, then looked at it with regret for a moment. Then he broke it in half. A few of the jewels embedded in it were scattered on the floor.
“Give this back when she gets beaten up. Every time a new maid comes, I think to myself, ‘What a pain!’ Our Lorisha never acted this presumptuously.”
Even though Eria had spent most of her life in the palace, she had a hard time understanding the royal family. She couldn’t control their minds, which could sometimes be as shallow as paper and then as cruel as a snake.
As Eria left carrying the broken hairband, she added,
“Call Lord Rond too.”
“Shall we get ready to go out?”
She shook her head gloomily and answered.
“No. Lorisha is no more, and tea parties are boring now... I’m just looking for someone to talk to.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
Eria tilted her head again. She rarely saw Lord Rond speak.
But Nerissa just stared at the wall with a calm face. I had a feeling about the situation.
