CYSWTF - Chapter 117

Episode 117. The Prince's Request

"It's a wedding present, Lorisha."

"Oh, how grateful I am!"

I thought Prince Kydel's answer was too quick, but when I thought of the Princess calling me like this and giving me a present, I was grateful.

However, Princess Milliora's eyes had a hidden purpose, and she placed the box right in the middle of us.

I waited for Prince Kydel to open the box, and Prince Kydel smiled and waited for me to open it.

And Prince Milliora was savoring our exchange of glances.

'The real pervert might be here.'

When I thought that, Prince Kydel said.

"Madam, let's open it. It's something that Prince Milliora has prepared for you."

Wow...

I almost got angry without intending to.

Madam! It's only been a few days since you got married!

And is that a word that should be pronounced so sensitively?

Princess Kydel laughed and moved on.

“What are you doing, Lorisha? 'Madam' husband told you to open it.”

“...!”

I pulled the box towards me with a sullen face, both of them displeased. And after opening the box, I didn’t know what expression to make.

It was a set of baby clothes for going out. The cute and fluffy clothes had a lion design embroidered on the chest.

“Your Highness...?”

“They say that when a beloved noblewoman becomes pregnant, the royal family gives her baby clothes. It was said that a baby who grew up wearing clothes with a lion emblem would definitely live a long and healthy life.”

“Your Highness!”

My loud call was an ambiguous tone that sounded different depending on who heard it. It sounded like I was calling out, ‘Your Highness!’ because I was so touched, or like I was saying, ‘What do you want me to do, Your Highness!’ In fact, my heart was split in two.

At that moment, Prince Kaidel suddenly grabbed my shoulder and pulled me to him, saying,

“Your Highness, Princess Milliora, thank you for your thoughtful gift.”

“You’re welcome, Prince Locard.”

The Princess replied with a happy smile.

This was a grateful thing, anyway. There was nothing I could find fault with. I should be purely grateful for her pure kindness.

I gathered my thoughts and smiled.

“Thank you very much, Your Highness. This is truly an honorable gift.”

I put the clothes back neatly and closed the box.

Then Prince Kydel asked,

“Is the new maid serving Your Highness well?”

“Ha! Did you hear?”

The Princess’s face instantly turned rotten, and I was slightly embarrassed.

She said to me,

“You heard too? Kalin Ankart has come to be my maid.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

“What a great woman, walking around the palace with her chin up... But don’t worry, she can’t even make a sound now. I know how to deal with such people.”

“Your Highness, let’s just let go of the matter at the tailor shop.”

When I said carefully, the Princess looked surprised.

“She still doesn’t know that she did something wrong. So why am I letting go?”

“Ah...”

“Looking for a maid to take care of her body, and complaining about food. Huh. That girl seems to think I don’t know that she's my brother’s spy. Prince Locard, is she like that at the Academy?”

I was quite taken aback by Her Highness’s question, but he answered flexibly as expected.

“I don’t know much about the lives of female students. I only have a wife.”

“Oh my, even a Prince! Hohoho.”

She immediately burst into laughter.

‘Does Her Highness find him funny whenever he talks?’

I tried to pull myself together from the familiar fatigue.

Her Highness Milliora said as if she had laughed a lot today.

“You two must be busy, so let’s go for today. Instead, come visit often, Lorisha.”

As she said that, she looked at me with the eyes of a child watching her mother go out.

Thinking back, I wasn’t even close to her, but she treated me very specially.

She really didn’t have anyone to give her affection to. My heart ached for no reason.

I nodded vigorously and said,

“Yes. Even if Your Highness tells me not to come, I will still come. I like the food in the palace.”

“Oh, you!”

She said, looking at Prince Kydel’s expression.

“You are Lady Kydel. You shouldn’t speak so rudely.”

“I apologize, Your Highness.”

At that moment, Prince Kydel intervened.

“Lorisha. You should visit Her Highness Milliora often. She seems to give you a lot of good advice.”

“Prince Locard. How can you always speak so nicely? You should learn how to be a wife, Lorisha.”

Ah. I’m tired.

Although I was mentally exhausted, I quietly answered yes and got up.

Prince Kydel came out carrying the Princess’s gift box. Now that I think about it, I don’t think I ever held anything in my hand when I was with him.

As I left the Princess’s reception room, he said,

“His Highness Grayon waits.”

“I was going to see Lord Rond...”

“Then I’ll go first this time.”

“Thank you, Prince.”

I quickly went down to the backyard.

Lord Rond saw me and jumped up, and I ran to him, squealing.

“Lord Rond! How have you been? I’m here.”

“Lady Kydel.”

“...”

I felt my mind clear at the word ‘Lady Kydel’. Thinking about it, I was now the wife of the old commander he hated, Locard Kydel.

I sighed and sat down in my usual seat, and he also sat down, glancing at me as if he were sorry.

“Did you have a good wedding?”

“Yes. I’m sorry I couldn’t invite you. The situation is such that we had to hold it without any outside guests.”

“I understand.”

I suddenly looked at Lord Rond’s face again. He was still a man as tall as before. But now, I felt a sense of ease that I had never felt before.

I suddenly said playfully.

“You’re the first person who hasn’t congratulated me on my wedding.”

“Is that so? Congratulations, Lady Kydel.”

“Hey. Even though you don’t mean it.”

When I laughed and teased him, he said awkwardly.

“I know that position isn’t easy.”

“...”

“Men who wield swords are like a pack of beasts. Furthermore, the Kydel family’s pride is so high that they won’t easily accept a maid.”

“...That’s true.”

At the banquet, and even this morning, the vassal spoke rudely to me as if they wanted me to hear it. To them, I looked like a foreign substance that had suddenly flown in.

Lord Rond, who had been watching them from the side, knew that, and so he didn’t congratulate me hastily like the others.

I sighed involuntarily and felt Lord Rond’s sympathetic gaze.

Then, suddenly, it occurred to me that I was surrounded by many good people.

Her Highness the Princess, Lord Rond, and Director Royman, whom I would visit later.

Even if people who didn’t know me looked down on me, at least those people who knew me treated me warmly. That fact alone gave me strength.

I smiled bashfully and said,

“It’ll work out somehow. If I come across it again.”

“I know. Cheer up, maid.”

I was really upset that a good person like Lord Rond had fallen out with Prince Kydel. However, I decided to change my mind right away.

I thought it would be less frustrating if there was at least one person in the world who didn’t like Prince Kydel.

I handed him the small package I had brought.

“The snacks we ordered at the wedding were so delicious that I ordered some more. Please eat.”

“I’m sure Her Highness will like them.”

“So eat them with her. Then I’ll be going now. See you later, Lord Rond!”

I quickly headed to the Second Prince’s Palace before Lord Rond could refuse. Tension slowly built up again.

***

‘Since I’ve already got a husband, let’s make good use of him. Let’s not be unnecessarily nervous this time, Lorisha.’

Until just a moment ago, I had thought I would never be able to admit that Prince Kydel was my husband, but when I thought that he was the only person I could rely on in front of His Highness Grayon, I was able to quickly change my attitude.

I was disappointed by the shallow change in stance, but there was nothing I could do about the way I looked.

“Ha.”

I took a deep breath and tried to tell the Second Prince’s Palace servant who I was. But the servant opened the door as soon as he saw me.

“They’re waiting inside, Madame Kydel.”

The door opened by itself in front of me.

It felt very strange.

As I slowly went inside, His Highness Grayon and Prince Kydel were drinking tea on the balcony.

His Highness Grayon said as soon as he saw me.

“Come in, Madame Kydel.”

“The little sun of Tagar...”

“All right. Sit down. We’re like family now. Isn’t that right, Locard?”

“Lorisha is my family, Your Highness.”

Prince Kydel answered with an innocent face, and Prince Grayon’s expression turned cold.

However, Prince Kudel ignored him and continued cheerfully.

I really didn’t know how he could not be so scared of Prince Grayon.

“Lorisha, I have conveyed your intention to Prince Grayon. From now on, we will serve His Highness together.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

I answered awkwardly and lowered my gaze. “Our couple”! He was acting as if we had been married for about ten years. Prince Grayon pretended not to hear him at all and spoke to me.

“What did Milliora say?”

“She congratulated our marriage and told us to visit the palace often.”

“Yes. Visit often. Even if Milliora doesn’t know, I have to go and see it.”
