CYSWTF - Chapter 108

Episode 108. You Two Have Decided to Get Married

“Prince Locard, Lorisha. We just issued an apology to the House of Lords in the names of our two families.”

“We sincerely apologize for causing trouble, Count Loire.”

“There’s no need to apologize. We’ve caused even more trouble.”

“Count?”

When Count Loire unexpectedly said something, Locard asked back as if demanding an explanation. Then Duke Kydel snapped at his son and left.

“You two have decided to get married, so know that!”

I blinked, not knowing what I had just heard. When I turned around, Prince Kydel was standing there without moving an inch.

“Whew.”

I must have misheard something. Even though I didn’t know what it was, I thought the apology would somehow resolve the issue.

But the Count spoke as if to break my illusions.

“Lorisha. You have resigned from your position as maid to Her Highness Miliora, so go to Duke Kydel immediately. I will send your luggage.”

“...”

The weather was really clear today. The blue sky matched the color of the Count’s eyes.

I felt guilty toward the Count every time I thought about it, for making our family’s name known to the world because of such a dirty thing.

Furthermore, it was painful to watch Prince Kydel and His Highness Grayon being put in danger because of such a ridiculous slander. And when the Count said he would enter the House of Nobles in my place, I honestly almost cried.

In fact, I thought the Count had abandoned me when he let me into the palace.

I even felt like he was saying indirectly that it was none of my business whether I lived or died.

However, when he stood up to the nobles for me today, my heart ached at the thought that I really had a father. I felt so sorry for the Count, but also so touched, and I couldn’t put it into words.

So I waited for the House of Lords to end, feeling not so miserable even in this dire situation.

But now I felt so strange. Suddenly, my clothes felt too small, and my throat felt stuffy.

I barely understood that I had been kicked out of Her Highness Miliora’s maid position. It was understandable given the result of this level of conflict.

“Well, then, let’s go home for now...”

Then the Count sighed and said, knowing that I didn’t understand anything.

“Prince Locard, please ask Lorisha to explain.”

And the Count also turned away.

“Count...”

As I watched his back, I felt like I was being thrown down a steep cliff once again.

Explanation...

I had just heard the word marriage, but who could have said such a thing?

When I blankly looked back at Prince Kydel, he was still looking somewhere in front of me.

“Prince...?”

“...”

He didn’t answer either. I slowly realized that he was also in shock right now.

Marriage...?

“Your Excellency? What should I do now? Do something about it. Yes?”

“...”

“Ugh.”

But he suddenly turned to me. There was clearly madness in his eyes.

When I flinched back in fear, he leaned down toward me.

“Miss Lorisha.”

“Yes!”

I answered loudly, terrified.

“Go pack your bags. I’ll come get you.”

“Yes?”

“Should I take you to your bedroom?”

“Oh, no? No!”

Prince Kydel turned around so hard that the wind blew.

I started running halfway to the Princess’s palace like a child afraid of being left alone. Tears welled up in my eyes for no reason, and I wiped them away with my arm.

Locard looked at Grayon, who was reading a book on the balcony.

His breathing was ragged, and his hands were covered in cold sweat. It seemed that his mind had never been this empty, not even on the battlefield.

Grayon noticed him and turned his head.

“Why are you standing there blankly?”

“I...”

Locard opened his mouth, but his throat was tight. He cleared his throat twice more.

“My father and Count Loire entered the House of Lords.”

“I was already waiting for the results. What happened?”

“The House of Lords decided to leave the matter alone after the two messengers’ apology, and I remained in my post.”

“I never thought I would end up in such a mess. You have worked hard, Locard. I will express my gratitude to the two messengers.”

“...”

When Locard remained silent, Grayon, who was about to read her book again, raised her head in annoyance.

“Yes. I’m sorry! You didn’t like my plan from the beginning, but I pushed it through. Even if things have come to this, I will keep my promise to her, so don’t worry. You just have to make me the Crown Prince...”

“Lorisha...”

Locard thought as he spoke.

‘I can now officially, and very rightfully, call her by her name only!’

“She resigned from her position as a maid.”

“Of course. When will she leave the palace?”

“A court lady who has lost her qualifications must leave the palace immediately.”

“Call her. I will explain why you did that. It seems like you owe her another favor. I don’t want her to hold a grudge like Kalin and then hit me in the back.”

“We will enter the palace together next time.”

“...?”

Locard answered with a stern face at Grayon’s suspicious gaze.

“The two messengers have taken extreme measures.”

“Can’t you tell me sooner?”

“I’m married. Your Highness.”

Grayon's exclamation came out after a long time.

"What, how?"

Locard frowned, looking somewhere in the air.

"The two lions have settled the situation by marrying me and Loridha."

"..."

Grayon lowered his gaze to the book again and muttered softly.

"There's one more reason for you to put me on the throne, Locard."

"...!"

That was when Locard came to his senses. He realized what Grayon meant.

However, it was better not to say anything at a time like now when he was mentally burdened.

Locard decided to step aside for the time being.

"Then I will take Lorisha to my room and come back, Your Highness."

He felt Grayon's gaze on his back for a long time, but he didn't look back.

***

I don't remember clearly.

When I told her that I had to resign from my position as a maid and leave the palace, Her Highness rushed at me to grab my hair.

'I knew this would happen someday! You, you dare! Do you think you can leave me alone? Lorisha, you rascal! You are mine!'

I sat down on the floor, holding my head with both hands, while Eria and the maids rushed in to stop Her Highness.

The rumor spread so quickly that Lord Rond heard it in the reception room, and he nodded meaningfully at me with a very solemn face.

As if to say, 'Goodbye, maid.'

'Oh, Lord Rond...!'

Eria must have cried while packing my luggage, and I went to the apothecary while my luggage was being taken out of the palace.

'I heard the news!'

When I visited, Director Royman held out a bouquet of flowers with a face as bright as a girl's. It was roses he had picked from the garden.

'Why is the director so happy?'

I continued to mumble in a daze.

'I couldn't give you a long greeting because of the law that requires immediate departure upon resignation. Thank you so much for being so kind to me, Director. And I would also like you to give me Lord Rond's medicine regularly.'

'Is that the problem now? I've prepared in a hurry. Congratulations, Miss Loire, no, Madame Kydel!'

I gasped and ran away.

But his voice followed me, buzzing in my head.

'Madame Kydel. Madame Kydel. Madame Kydel. Madame Kydel. Madame Kydel... '

And when I came to my senses, I was here.

The third floor of the Kydel. A large, neat room filled with old, luxurious furniture.

Through the large window, I could see the mansion yard, and in the distance, I could see the training ground. There, knights were training.

I muttered to myself,

"Why am I here? ... Mother?"

The chair by the window, where I had slumped down, was really soft. I felt resentful that the softness seemed to trivialize the weight of my tragedy.

"Little Madame, please come in for a moment."

When someone knocked, I jumped up as if I were screaming.

The visitor seemed surprised by my behavior. It was an old woman with gray hair neatly braided and tied up.

“Are you okay?”

“Yes! I’m okay. Nothing happened.”

She glanced at me to make sure I was okay, then smiled.

“Let me say hello. I’m Olga, the head maid of the Duke of Kydel.”

“Of course. You should be the head maid.”

It was like this everywhere. When I was staying at the villa and was caught by the Countess and dragged to the Count’s house, I first entered the palace. Let’s leave out my childhood.

Wherever I went, the master’s men would beat me up.

But today, I wasn’t sure if I could endure it again.

The me of this morning and the me of now were the same person. However, the hope I had this morning was gone now.

Marriage? The lady of the Kydel family couldn’t be a tutor.

My future was gone.

Madame Olga rolled her eyes worriedly at me, who didn’t answer. I came to my senses and greeted her.

“Madame Olga. I’m Lorisha.”

“The Prince has entrusted me with taking good care of the young lady. This room is bigger than the Prince’s room across from you, so if you choose the room you will use as your master bedroom before the wedding, I will prepare it accordingly.”

“...”

I heard words I absolutely could not understand.

‘Wedding...?’
