ASP - Chapter 85 < First Night (2) >

“But I haven’t washed yet...”

Her words were interrupted by repeated swallowing. Black answered while untying the pearl knots one by one behind Linea’s back.

“It’s okay. I’ll wash you later anyway.”

“But still... um... I was outside all day.”

“Because the clothes were so voluminous, there would have been no chance of dust getting on your skin.”

He lightly rubbed the tip of his nose against the back of her neck, where two knots were undone and black was revealed.

“And you don’t have to worry about it because it smells good.”

“No way.”

It seems like a lie. Or not? Liene, who was a little suspicious, turned her head to the side and sniffed Black's wrist.

"Uh...?"

There was a faint scent of soap about him.

“I washed up a little while ago.”

Somehow, he was wearing a wedding dress, but there was no collar and his shirt was unbuttoned.

“Where is that?”

“Please think of it as being desperate. I didn’t want to waste any more time.”

Thud, thud. The knot came undone without a hitch.

“Oh, wait. Just a moment.”

It seemed like the speed was too fast. Liene, whose back was half empty, tried to stop Black by tapping her toes.

“That’s, a little...”

"A little?"

“I think I need to prepare myself mentally.”

“...”

Black, who seemed to be taking a deep breath, raised both his hands.

"Then."

“Phew..."

Liene let out a deep breath that had been uncomfortable until just a moment ago.

“That’s... I guess it’s still... No, that’s... This is my first time doing something like this, so...”

“I understand. If you need to prepare, then do it.”

“Yes, I’ll do that. So for now...”

Liene was about to say that she was going to wash up.

“I guess I should just take off my clothes first.”

“Huh? No, why is that so?”

“I have been mentally prepared for this. I have been ready for a long time.”

Black took Liene's hand and placed it on the knot of his shirt.

“You can do it quickly. If you don’t want to bother taking it off, you can just take it off.”

What can I do...

“You don’t want to do it? Then I’ll do it.”

If you asked me if I would mind taking this man's clothes off, there would be only one answer.

“Yeah... I don’t think so.”

“Then do it.”

“...”

Liene probably imagined tonight a hundred times in her head, but what makes it so hard?

“...It’s so bright.”

Liene had a hard time choosing the answer.

“It’s still too early to call it night... and there might not be everyone outside yet... and it’s a bit much to take off your clothes when you’re not quite ready yet... Anyway, it’s a bit much.”

It was because the atmosphere wasn't ready. Black was ready, but she wasn't. It felt like they were still halfway through the wedding ceremony.

“I know what you mean.”

Luckily, Black was quick-witted. He always figured out her feelings before she did.

“Let me put out the fire first.”

But that didn't mean he left his seat to blow out the candle. The hand that seemed to be slowly reaching out had somehow grabbed her chin and adjusted the angle.

“Fire...”

He swallowed the words with his lips. The kiss was much softer and slower than usual, and it was hotter than any kiss. Her lips were completely wet, but on the contrary, her throat kept burning. When she came to her senses, Liene was hugging Black's neck with her loose sleeves hanging down her shoulders.

“I feel like I’ve been shot by an arrow.”

Black whispered against her wet lips.

"Why..."

“It’s similar to when I had a fever and wasn’t in my right mind.”

"Ah..."

“If I hadn’t been hit by the arrow then, I would still be a decent man.”

Black pulled Liene towards him with his lips locked. Before he knew it, they were standing in front of the wall where the candlesticks were hanging. At that moment, their lips parted for a moment.

Whoosh. The candles went out. There were five candlesticks in the bedroom. Usually, only one or two were lit, but today, to celebrate the first night, all five candlesticks were lit. That meant that they had to move four more times.

"Why?"

“No, I should say I’m just pretending to be polite.”

“Are you saying you wouldn’t kiss me like this?”

“Because I thought it would take a very long time until the Princess could tolerate me.”

"That..."

Didn't she feel the same way? Didn't she ever think that there would come a day when she would be able to like this man this much?

“So I thought it was fortunate that I got hit by the arrow. But....”

Biting her lower lip gently, took another step forward. This was because he was carrying out the second candlestick.

“Actually, I don’t think it would have mattered. Even if I had tried to wait, I wouldn’t have been able to.”

"Why?"

“If you look at me now, you will know.”

Hoo. The second candle also went out. In the room that had become darker, Black placed Liene's hand on the knot of his shirt.

“Untie it.”

Was the word “untie” really such a dirty word?

Liene swallowed and moved her hand. Turning off the lights definitely had an effect. The kiss became more passionate as it got darker, and this man became dirtier.

Thump, thump.

This time, the knot of the shirt was quickly undone. Her hands seemed to be shaking, but the darkness even erased that trembling. The shirt, with the knot completely open, fell to her feet.

"Good job."

Black, who had exposed his upper body, held Liene's face affectionately and left kisses here and there.

Hoo. The third candle went out. The two breathlessly kissed each other as they headed to the next candle. When the fifth candle went out, there were no more clothes left to take off. Black carried Liene and headed to bed.

***

Riene barely opened her eyes the next afternoon.

“...”

It was a very strange feeling. The sunset was already starting to set, and the surroundings were red. On each side of the bed, two women were standing in chairs as if they were watching me. On the table next to them were bottles of water, towels, and food, so it seemed as if they had been sick for a very long time.

“Madam...? What happened?”

“Oh, Princess. Are you awake now?”

“Yes. Where am I sick? Why are you two guarding the bedroom?”

“You’re sick. Lie down still. Drink a glass of water first. Your throat is completely dry.”

“Ah, ahh... Is that so?”

Hearing that, she felt like her throat was a little sore. Why does my throat hurt? Do I have a cold?

Mrs. Henton silently poured Liene some water and handed her a glass. She reached out to receive the glass without thinking much, but strangely, her fingertips started to tremble.

“Hey, why are you doing this?”

“Oh my, Princess!”

Madam Flambard quickly grabbed Liene's hand and lowered it down. As if she had said so in advance, Mrs. Henton brought the glass of water to her lips herself.

"Drink.”

“I can drink it, ma’am.”

“No. You’ll break a perfectly good glass for nothing. Please drink it like this.”

“No...”

But since the two of them had such stubborn expressions on their faces, Liene just drank the water that was given to her. Her throat stung as the water went down.

“It looks like it will be difficult to even get to the bathroom. I will wet a towel for you, so you can wash up on the bed.”

Mada. Flambard promptly soaked a towel in a bowl of water and wrung it out. Placing the towel on her face seemed to be a way of saying she would wash it for her.

“No, ma’am. Why are you suddenly like this?”

“She’s right. Don’t even think about getting up. Just stay still.”

“My throat is just a little sore. It got better after drinking some water. It’s okay. Please put the towel away.”

Liene pushed Madam Flambard's hand, which was holding the towel, aside. But something was strange. Her arm was too heavy. The woman, whom she had thought she could easily push away, was holding her position too firmly.

“Why are you doing this, Princess? I told you to stay still. Your back will hurt if you move right now.”

“No, I’m just tired from staying up too late. Please move. I want to wake up.”

“Just lie down.”

Mrs. Henton also intervened, but Liene could not understand why the two were doing this, so she lifted the blanket herself. Then, as she was about to get up, tears suddenly welled up in her eyes.

“Ugh...”

Liene, who was about to get up, fell back down. Suddenly, her whole body ached as if she had been beaten. Not to mention her waist, her legs, and buttocks all felt like they were bruised. Her limbs were shaking weakly. She didn’t think she could even sit up, let alone walk. Liene belatedly asked with a tearful face.

“Why am I like this?”

“Because you’ve been through a lot. And for a very long time.”

"Yes...?"

Without knowing why, her face turned red like an apple. Oh, that's right. Yesterday was the wedding, and at night...

“That’s... So originally... it was like this...?”

Liene heard that the first time can be very painful, but she didn't know that it meant that her whole body would hurt.

“No. I have been to many weddings, but I don’t think there is anyone like you, Princess.”

Mrs. Henton nodded vigorously at those words.

“Yes, there isn’t.”

“Am I unusually sick?”

Is it because her first experience was late? No... They said it hurts more when you're young. And um... It doesn't hurt that much there. Rather, it seems like her lower back really hurts. And her thighs and calves.

“Why not?”

“Is it because you overdid it preparing for the wedding?”

As Liene tilted her head to find a convincing reason, Madame Flambard became serious.

“It’s not your fault, Lrincess.”

“Yes? Really?”

“It’s the husband’s fault.”

"Yes?"

Madam Flambard was also straightforward, but Mrs. Henton was more so.

“It means that you two had a great time. Even though the first night is hard work, I have never seen a bride who couldn’t open her eyes for half a day and was in so much pain like the Princess. Oh my, how could you.”

“...”

If only she hadn't added that, Liene's cheeks would have turned a little less red. It was fun... Yeah, that's true...Why do all the ladies know that...

“I could have just had a cold or something. The wedding was so long...”

Madam Flambard was also very firm at such times.

“We also had a hand in preparing for the wedding. The Princess was the first to fall asleep. Oh my, how could you.”

Why does Madam Flambard say that too?

“Anyway, you won’t be able to walk for a while, so rest. Aren’t you feeling sick?”

“I think I’m a little hungry.”

“I guess so. Oh my gosh, how could that be?”

“I’ll bring you something warm to eat.”

Mrs. Henton stood up. As she turned and left, she said, "Oh my God, what a surprise."

“...Could you please not say that word ‘how’?”

Liene covered herself with the blanket and muttered.

“What should I do when it keeps coming out? Oh my, really. Oh my, my goodness.”

"Ma'am...."

Mada. Flambard waved her hand as if she noticed Liene's face turning red under the blanket.

“Now, really, stop it. The Princess looks so happy that I’m also acting so reckless.”

“You can’t even get up because you’re in pain, but you look happy...”

“It is happiness. I guarantee that there has never been a bride as sick as the princess, who cannot even open her eyes...”

“Madam, please.”

Liene couldn't stand it any longer and pulled the blanket down. She was already feeling feverish, and Madam Flambard kept teasing her, so it was too hot under the blanket.

“Get well soon, Princess. Well, I don’t know if I should use the word get well in this case.”

The woman straightened Liene's hair with a more affectionate expression than usual.

“If you had seen for yourself how restless your husband was when the Princess couldn’t open her eyes in the morning, you would know why I am saying this. Prince Tiwakan must be feeling quite intimidated right now because Mrs. Henton and I have been nagging him so much.”

“Ah... So that’s why he’s not here right now?”

“I told him to do so. The Princess should rest comfortably.”

Liene laughed quietly.

“It’s funny that the man was intimidated. Madam was scared at first just by seeing his face.”

“What a surprise. If it weren’t for the Princess’s husband, it would still be the same.”

The woman, who had finished tidying up her hair, then went to find the back of her hand and patted it.

“When the Princess had Lord Klinefelter as your lover, I thought that there was no one in the world who would love the Princess as much as he did. But maybe my thoughts have changed now.”

It was a heartwarming story. Madam Flambard was right. Liene was happy.

“If Madam  says so, it must be true.”

“Yes, really. He seems like the kind of person who would catch a polar bear if it was good for the Princess’s health.”

It seemed so likely that she felt dizzy for a moment.

“You’d better not say that. What if he really does it?”

“I think it’s not just that he say he’ll do it, but that he might actually be able to catch it. When I think about it... Oh my god, how could it be?”

“Madam, stop it.”

Mrs. Henton, who had brought the warmed-up food, also said “Oh my goodness” and “How could it be?” repeatedly after hearing that story, making Liene feel embarrassed. After eating the food, she felt much better and was able to walk when the moon rose.
