TPITT - Chapter 113

Once again, the emotions were conveyed.

He thought it was a reprimand for the Princess, but it wasn't. He had a long-standing wish that didn't come true.

It was something that he had suffered alone for a long time before finally letting go. It was closer to a weak resentment than a reproach.

"If you had chosen me as your direct subordinate, this wouldn't have happened."

The words that followed were more emotionally charged.

Let's just let out his heart for once. It seems like the person he was in his past life couldn't control himself.

He openly pleaded, asking for her to choose him now, to accept him now.

He said that while bringing his face close to her, even though he knew that the innocent Princess would be flustered.

It was a distance where it wouldn't be strange to kiss her. That gesture.

The only one who doesn't know of his calculated intentions is the Princess.

'Oh my God...'

It was certain. His past life's self had never treated the Princess like a joke.

However he looked at it, his actions were tempting.

It became clear why he had suffered from all the sorrow in the world because of the Princess, even though he had not even been engraved.

The mental shock was too great. Even though it had been quite some time since the illusions had subsided and his vision had begun to reflect reality, Michael's mind seemed not yet to return to reality. He was like a statue in the middle of the garden.

It stood tall without moving an inch.

"Ah..."

After a long time, Michael let out a soft exclamation as if he had been given the chance to breathe.

A trembling hand brushed his face. Unlike usual, it was more like a palm.

His face got hotter.

"What do you mean Eve... I can't believe I call the Princess, Eve.."

The aftermath of facing the greatest confusion of his life was great. Michael even started talking to himself, something he never did before.

A memory suddenly came to mind.  The Princess once asked him what it meant to put the nickname of an unauthorized royal family. Michael, who was unaware of his past sins, said he interpreted them confidently.

He said he wanted to sleep with her.

'Oh, crazy!'

How dare he harbors evil intentions and be consumed by lust for the precious and noble Princess!

Michael almost committed suicide for a moment.

He thought it wouldn't work. He had to return to his past life to protect his mind.

Michael felt the need to completely separate himself from others in this life.

He is different from a traitor who is blinded by revenge and has lost his body and mind.

There is a difference between a sinister man who dares to covet the Princess and a noble knight.

Self-brainwashing with deep breathing seemed to have some effect. It was a refreshing early summer day.

It felt like the air was purifying something evil inside him.

But then it happened.

“Michael?”

At a time when he was mentally vulnerable, an entity that could inflict fatal damage appeared before his eyes.

Michael hid his embarrassment and greeted.

“Hello, Your Highness the Princess.”

“There are just the two of us. Talk comfortably. By the way, what were you doing here?”

“I just have something to think about..."

He felt like he was going to rambling. Michael quickly pretended to be calm and turned the subject to something about Eve.

“What is the Princess doing without a servant?”

“Oh, I have something to think about by myself.”

He remembered Eve's answer, which seemed to be a bit vague. Even when she ordered him to leave work early, Eve abandoned Michael and ran away as if she was hiding something.

'She didn't choose candidates for a political marriage.'

It seemed that Eve still had a lot to think about regarding the political marriage. She felt depressed for some reason.

'No, what should I be depressed about?'

Michael realized his condition and flinched.

Isn't this the kind of thought that a past life self who harbored ill intentions toward the Princess would have?

Michael, who reacted impulsively, began to search for his identity again.

'I'm a knight. Don't call her by her nickname. I'm different from that kind of wicked guy. How can I call Eve Eve, no, call the Princess, Eve.'

It was at that time that Michael was obsessed with brainwashing himself.

“You know, Michael.”

“Please, Eve.”

The conversation was cut off. Why did the atmosphere suddenly become awkward? Michael understood after a while.

'Oh, my. Are you crazy?'

He felt like sticking his head in an invisible place.

“Michael, just now..."

“Ah, no, this is, by mistake..."

“By mistake..."

“No. It was really a mistake.”

“But according to the Imperial Grammar, it's... Michael..."

“No, I don’t. I'm going to..!”

It felt like something was stuck in his throat. But to prove his innocence, he had to squeeze out words.

“I'm a loyal knight who serves the Princess... and never forgets his duty.”

It seemed like he had said the right thing, but for some reason, his conscience prickled. Michael lowered his gaze.

Meanwhile, Eve was staring at Michael with playful eyes. Soon, she opened her mouth with a kind smile, a hint of regret in her voice.

“Actually, I advised you to start looking for someone who will give you political support from now on.

Michael, you are so selfless, you are just like Alben.”

He pointed out that he had given advice that I did not mean.

Even so, he was concerned that Eve had a hazy and bitter look in her eyes at that time.

“That, the Princess.”

“You can call me Eve. I’m joking. Tell me what you wanted to say.”

Michael chose his words carefully and then opened his mouth.

“I was short-sighted. I think I treated anything else as a means, forcing you only to aim for the throne. So, wouldn’t it be better to get married to someone you’re more attracted to?”

It was painful to speak out, but it was okay. There was no deception in his heart that prayed for Eve's happiness.

“Ah, Michael..."

Eve said with moved eyes.

“Marriage without love is not possible, right? You really are so innocent.”

He was truly a man who would perform a ritual of return for the woman he loved.

“Pure love..."

It was a great compliment as it was one of the virtues of a knight, but Michael opposed it.

It gave him a hint of it. It was because he remembered how he had coveted Eve in his past life.

That gloomy personality and dark desires may be latent within him as well.

When he thought about it that way, his conscience pricked and he couldn't look her in the eye.

In front of Eve's kind eyes, he felt like he had become a being of greater evil than a dragon.

'Come to think of it, there was a strange room I locked her up, but surely I didn't do something evil... No, I hope not... Please...'

At this point, Michael was afraid to know the ending of his past life.

Suddenly, he felt so grateful to the person who performed the regression ritual.  If the regressor doesn't know what happened between Eve and Michael, he decides to consider giving some mercy and saving his life.

“Yes, Michael.”

At that time, Eve's voice awakened Michael's spirit.

Michael barely managed to raise his gaze to look at Eve. She was looking at the flowers in the flower bed.

What caught her eye were the irises and gladiolus, long stems with long rows of flower buds.

Eve picked a flower with a gradient of white and purple.

"Here."

It was when Michael, who had received flowers out of the blue, was looking down at the inside of his palm in a daze.

Eve asked with a smile.

“What kind of woman does Michael want to marry?”

“...That’s a meaningless question. Isn’t it impossible for Homunculus to get married?”

He was reminded again that he couldn't even be mentioned as the spouse of the Princess. Michael had to try not to dare feel depressed.

But Eve showed an unexpected reaction.

“What are you talking about? When I become Emperor, I will completely change the law. I will allow even Homunculus to marry.”

“...Really?”

“Of course. Not just marriage. I will give you a title as well.”

“Even a title...?”

A strange light appeared in Michael's eyes.

No matter how much he escorted the Princess to the social gathering, he was treated like air.

Because he saw the possibility of getting out of the situation.

But the light in his eyes soon faded away like a candle that had burned out.

Even if the institution of marriage is resolved, the most important condition is not met.

The problem remained that homunculuss were incapable of reproduction and could not produce offspring.

“Michael, do you like children?”

Eve happened to come in just then to poke Michael where it hurt. But it was never meant to hurt Michael.

“Let’s study infertility using alchemy.”

“..Is that possible?”

“Yes. I’ll just tell Michael. The imperial palace has information that only the Emperor and the Crown Princess can read. You have knowledge of alchemy, right? I did some research and some of that knowledge includes how to make homunculus and human children."

The information from his past life that had been briefly revealed brought a ray of hope to Michael's eyes.

Eve said, encouraged by Michael's positive response.

“I will create a child for Michael.”

"Please!"

Reliable promises were a bit misleading as they were heard.

'The Princess made my child...'

Doesn't he feel like they should make it together?

In the past, it would have been normal to be so shocked that he would have checked Eve's grammar and speaking skills.

But today Michael didn't do that.

He lowered his gaze to the gladiolus flower, his ears turning red as he thought.

'It must be because of the imprint. Or it could be because of the emotional fairy tale from a past life.'

Before he knew it, the number of convenient excuses had increased from one to two.

“I will only trust the Princess.”

"Yes."

After that, the two of them walked in the garden together.

Eve was not satisfied with just one gladiolus; whenever she saw a pretty flower, she would pick it and give it to Michael.

Of course, it was a behavior that was not usually seen. Today, she seemed anxious not to give Michael something good or beautiful.

Michael looked down at the flowers that were quickly filling one arm.

The beautiful flowers seemed to be a metaphor for this life.

It was a strange thing. Just by having Eve by his side, this life was different from hia past lives.

'Yes. It's all thanks to the Princess that I have.'

Michael, who was following Eve, secretly dropped one of the flowers. It was a Princess's flower that was given to his unhappy self in his past life.
