7MIP - Chapter 76

“Is that okay?”

“Once we’ve pacified the area surrounding the territory, no one will be able to touch you. It would be nice to finish it off together.”

Most of the hardline relatives who had attempted assassination were gone.

If the territory becomes safe, the road to get there and even within the territory will not be dangerous.

Agatha could not hide her joy and lowered her gaze. Her fingers were playing with the hem of his cloak.

“It’s been a really long time since I’ve been to the territory.”

The last time was seven years ago when she was sixteen and had just had my coming-of-age ceremony.

Even then, she only stayed for a moment because she went to confirm the territory as the official heir of Nobilis.

“The south has warm winter weather, so it would be nice to stay there.”

Enoch whispered softly and buried his lips in her hair.

“Come to think of it, I haven’t been to Aratus Territory in quite some time.”

“Then, once the work at Nobilis is over, I’ll go to the Aratus estate as well.”

“Let’s do that.”

Until just a little while ago, Agatha was incredibly worried.

Even though she still had worries and anxieties, happiness definitely occupied a large part of her heart.

“I’ll wait in the capital. Will you send me a letter this time too?”

“Of course, Agatha. It’s good to see you happy. We must receive the surrender of our enemies as soon as possible.”

Enoch, who had finished his preparations, left the inner room with Agatha.

The wide training ground he arrived in was lined with knights like that summer day.

Under the cool air and the morning star.

"Depart."

The Knights of Aratus marched towards the Nobilis Territory.

Agatha, who had sent her husband off to war twice in one year, no longer lived in seclusion in the mansion.

Not only was the social season not over yet, but the current seclusion was likely to breed negative rumors about the family.

So Agatha became more active than usual in attending social gatherings and opening a salon.

Today was the day of the luncheon hosted by the Empress.

“Lady Agatha. Welcome.”

“Hello, my Lady of the Empire. How have you been, Your Majesty the Empress?”

“I’m always the same. Yes, sit over here.”

Agatha's seat was right next to the Empress.

To escape the increasingly cold weather, lunch was held in the Empress's greenhouse.

As the seats filled, the Empress smiled and began to speak.

“I prepared a dish of lamb ribs today, but I’m not sure if it will suit your taste.”

“Isn’t lamb ribs everyone’s favorite dish? Everyone will be delighted, Your Majesty the Empress.”

“Haha. Then let’s start lunch.”

About twenty people sat around a long table and began lunch.

Each dish served on silverware was perfect from the taste to the plating, and it seemed like the palace chef had put a lot of effort into preparing it for today.

A series of excellent hors d'oeuvres are presented.

Many stories were going around the table.

“Countess Kepania, was that necklace a birthday present?”

“Yes. Hohoho. The Count has been collecting and preparing the raw stones since last year.”

“Your husband has taken great care of you.”

“What a truly memorable gift.”

The most talked about item was the new necklace worn by Countess Kepania, who recently celebrated her birthday.

A large yellow diamond that was rarely seen was attracting attention, and Countess Kepania was constantly smiling happily as if she was satisfied with the attention.

Agatha also followed that trend.

“By the way, I heard that a good diamond mine was discovered in the territory of Count Kepania?”

“Oh, Marchioness Aratus. So you knew. That’s right. We happened to be exploring, and there were diamonds buried in the mountains behind the castle.”

“Oh my! Is it true, Madam Kepania?”

Even the Empress looked interested in the topic Agatha brought up.

In the meantime, the main course for lunch came out.

Mint pudding on top of tender meat.

With the addition of ice cream for dessert, it was a wonderful lunch all the way to the end.

“It was a truly wonderful lunch, Your Majesty. I can tell I enjoyed it very much.”

“I’m glad you said that, Madam. Next time, let’s take turns making arrangements.”

“Good idea, Your Majesty. How about having lunch at my mansion for our next meeting?”

“Countess Kepania was the topic of conversation today.”

It seemed likely that the next Empress's salon would be held at Countess Kepania's.

Agatha, who was polite, left the Empress's palace amidst the nobles who were competing to greet her.

Although Enoch was currently away, unlike the summer battle, there were hardly any bad rumors circulating.

This time, it was a tough war, not against just five collateral families, but against four direct families and one collateral family, and yet the loudest question was when Marquis Aratus would return with news of victory.

"Lady."

First Vice-Captain Leon Takran, who had been waiting at the palace entrance, paid his respects.

“Are you done with your work?”

“Yes. Let’s go back to the mansion.”

Today's social activities were over. Agatha planned to return to the mansion to rest and prepare for tomorrow.

It was the moment when the carriage, with its ironclad escort, left the palace and crossed the main street.

The carriage's speed gradually decreased, and after a while, the carriage wall rang out.

"Lady."

“What's going on?”

Agatha raised the curtains on the window. Behind Leon, who looked slightly embarrassed, a servant with a slightly familiar face was standing.

"Therefore...?"

“It’s been a long time, Marchioness Aratus.”

Her fifth ex-husband was Marquis Leonard Shinjere.

“Why do you come to me?”

“His Grace would like to see you for a moment.”

“Leonard?”

“He said it was important.”

Leonard was the safest and most sane nobleman among Agatha's ex-husbands.

He was also not the type of man to talk nonsense carelessly.

After thinking for a moment, Agatha nodded.

“Let’s go. Take me to your master.”

Agatha got out of the carriage and was escorted by Leon. The escort knights were divided in half.

Leonard was listening to the other person's story with a serious expression on his face, standing in front of a tall building right in front.

“Your Grace the Marquis.”

“Marchioness Aratus. You have arrived.”

Leonard, with his expression relaxed, waved his opponent off. Judging from his attire, he looked like a knight of the Marquis of Shinjere.

“I was just about to go see you when the Marchioness’ carriage passed right in front of me.”

Agatha, who had looked away, nodded slightly.

“I see. I was wondering why you stopped the carriage.”

Agatha walked down the street, still escorted by Leon, keeping some distance from the Marquis.

The weather, which was entering full-fledged fall, was cool but on the cold side.

Leonard struck first.

“How have you been?”

“As you can see, it’s neither good nor bad.”

The battle for territory had only just begun. Enoch, who had crossed the imperial territory, would appear from an unexpected place and crush the enemies.

As Marquis Aratus' whereabouts were nowhere to be seen, rumors began to spread in the capital that Agatha had breakfast with the Emperor in the early morning.

“I heard that a war broke out. Five families near the Nobilis territory have joined forces.”

"Yes."

By the way, she doesn't think Leonard stopped the carriage to tell the story of the Territorial War.

At that moment, the Marquis pulled out a name that had been forgotten in Agatha's memory.

“Have you heard anything about Henry Insidio’s recent activities?”

“No. I haven’t cared since I sent him into exile. Did he do something?”

Henry Insidio was exiled to the North for contempt of court.

It was a body that could not come out unless the Emperor released it.

Since both the current Emperor and the Crown Prince who will succeed him are on Agatha's side, it would not be wrong to think that Henry Insidio would never escape exile.

“I don’t have any concrete evidence. However, I have heard reports that someone has been visiting the place of exile more frequently than usual recently.”

The Insidio family survived and was not destroyed.

It was very suspicious that her fourth ex-husband, who would live in the North until he died, kept bringing people in from outside.

“I thought it would be good for you to know.”

“Yes, thank you.”

Agatha expressed her gratitude to the Marquis. Now that the land war was underway, it was better to be careful about even the smallest things.

“No. Ever since I took your hand, everything related to him has become something I have no interest in.”

Marquis Shinjere smiled lightly. Leonard Shinjere helped her get rid of Henry, who was trying to kill Agatha, take everything, and get a divorce without any fuss.

Even though it was a contract, he also owed a favor to Henry Insidio.

But it was clearly in his favor that he kept an eye on Henry for several years after the divorce and made an effort to clean up the mess perfectly.

“I think you said Ed Shinjere. When the Territory War is over, I would like to invite you and the Marquis’ successor to my mansion. How about having dinner together?”

“That’s a good suggestion. I’ll gladly accept it.”

He smiled slightly and gave his final greeting.

“Then, Marchioness Aratus. I hope everything goes well, including this land battle.”

“Yes. I hope that only good things will happen to you, Marquis Shinjere.”
