Wow, the world is peaceful.
Lately, every morning when Simone opens her eyes, she realizes how beautiful this world without curses is.
It's been two weeks since she's been receiving treatment and recuperation at the capital Rydel, El's house.
Time passed so quickly.
For two weeks, all Simone did was receive treatment, listen to old stories from Geneon, watch El's research, and when Orkan and Louis came, take a walk around the square, explore delicious restaurants, and attend Geneon's magic theory class.
That was all.
As she spent each day without worrying about money or curses, she began to feel it naturally.
This city is romantic and warm.
Could it be sadder that she's finally able to appreciate the beauty of a city that she had never felt before, even when she was suffering under a curse all day?
'Yes, if you are possessed, you should live like this.'
The protagonists in the novel try to live as comfortably as possible, but Simone throws herself into the fires of hell, so she never feels this kind of leisure and peace.
However.
“...”
“Are you up? Are you ready?”
As Simone was looking out the small window at the scenery outside, Geneon came and sat down next to her.
Simone wiped her smile away and nodded with a somewhat solemn expression before getting up.
“I'm ready.”
No matter how peaceful and good it is, it is time to end this life.
Geneon stood still and examined Simone's body.
“Yes, your mana has definitely been organized since I first saw you. Your sharpness may have disappeared, but you are still smart and strong. That’s what a wizard is like.”
“I’m a necromancer?”
Simone laughed playfully.
Strangely, she feels like talking back to Geneon one by one. Perhaps it's because his sharp face is funny.
Today is the day Simone returns to the mansion after completing this week's recuperation.
“Since you’re already out here, why don’t you try some practical training before you go? Is there really a need to go back right after you’re done recovering?”
Simone immediately shook her head.
“It doesn’t seem like there’s been any activity at the mansion for two weeks. I should go and check it out.”
Geneon wishes Simone could also take her time.
If it were before, she would have thought about taking a month off and resting, thinking that she wouldn't miss this opportunity to really relax...
'I can't do that anymore.'
There are too many people there who have already become attached to the place for such an easygoing behavior.
The longer they stay here, the more dangerous it will be for the people of the mansion to endure the curse without Simone.
'El might be uncomfortable too.'
Despite being so willing to take Simone with her, El seemed extremely uncomfortable the entire week they were together.
If it was going to be like this, she could have just found a separate place to stay, but she wondered why she had put up with all the inconvenience, and it turned out that his goal was Geneon, not Simone.
'El and I have been friends for a long time. It's not common for someone to be able to spend so many years together without dying.'
'I introduced El to Anasis. I thought her talent was too great for me to develop on my own. If I had known this would happen, I wouldn't have introduced her to El.'
Anasis is said to have been the first disciple that El had taken in. However, Anasis cursed and betrayed her master with the knowledge taught to her by Geneon and El.
With Geneon gone and Anasis growing increasingly infamous, El must have closed his heart to humanity.
Abel and his group must have barely managed to squeeze their way into that closed mind.
The only human friend he's met in a long time.
El had many conversations with Geneon while Simone was recovering.
Simone realized for the first time that El was a person who could make so many faces and say so many things.
How affectionate would that relationship be if they allowed humans to come into their homes to talk, eat, sleep, and so on?
“It seems like things are still okay for the Illeston family, even though we’ve been here for so long. I think it would be good to go after some more training. Tsk tsk.”
“If you want to stay with El more, then do so. I’ll go first.”
“...I wonder what you are talking about.”
Simone came out of the room giggling.
In El's study, which was visible right after leaving the room, El was scribbling something with his eyes wide open.
“Did you stay up all night again today?”
“...Oh, you’re awake.”
El calmly finished what he was doing and closed the book.
“Are you going back today?”
“Yes, I owe you a lot. Thank you for taking care of me.”
"Yes."
El answered briefly, took a thick book from his desk, and handed it to Simone.
"Gift?"
“No. I have translated the forbidden book you brought last time into a level where you can understand it just by reading the text.”
Simone opened the book. It was filled with neat handwriting, and parts that could not be explained in words were described in great detail with pictures.
“This yourself?”
El frowned at Simone's question. His eyes looked like he was wondering who would do it if he didn't do it himself.
This is a very thoughtful gift, considering that it annoys Simone so much.
Geneon, who saw this over Simone's shoulder, chuckled.
“You were always like this. Unlike me, who tried to teach you how to walk, if you needed something, you would rather get it for yourself.”
It was the same when teaching Anasis. When Anasis wanted greater power, Geneon taught her how to grow a vessel herself, but rather than teaching her this, El provided her with an elixir that could grow a vessel.
He may have done so because he thought humans would not easily understand the teachings of the fairies, but his methods later ended up being used by Anasis.
El must have had this in mind as well because he said something cold to Simone and went into her room.
“This is the last help I can give you. If you have any questions about the contents of the book, ask Geneon. Goodbye.”
Simone and Geneon briefly glanced at the door El had entered, then casually walked away.
"Let's go."
"Yes."
It was a rather sad farewell, considering they had spent the week together under the same roof, but it was a familiar sight to the two of them.
The carriage carrying Simone's body set off for the mansion.
As she passed by the well-maintained streets, the bustling squares, and the buildings that could truly be described as magnificent, familiar sights began to come into view.
A dull landscape with a lot of shadows as the warm sunlight is blocked by the large leaves, along with the dirt road that they have seen so many times.
'Oh, you're going to the mansion.'
She never thought she would feel joy and longing in such a gloomy landscape.
Simone smiled faintly, but then quickly furrowed her lips in worry.
“Really... nothing happened?”
“No news is good news. If something unbearable had happened, I would have done whatever it took to tell you.”
Why does a little kid have so many worries already?
Even if a new curse had already been activated and the situation was in disarray, Simone would be able to resolve anything.
Her mana and stamina, which had been steadily depleted since she arrived at the Illeston Mansion, were completely restored thanks to Geneon and El's efforts.
During that time, although she was not able to do any practical training, she was taught how to handle mana in a way that was easy to understand through theory alone.
Above all, there is Geneon by Simone's side.
“There’s nothing to worry about.”
However, Simone was unable to answer Geneon's words and just looked at the mansion that was slowly getting closer.
“It may have been too dangerous for news to reach us.”
Geneon doesn't know. He's too careless.
Even though he is a renowned archmage and knows a lot about Anasis, the cause of the curse, Simone knows better what is happening in the mansion, having experienced it firsthand.
The curse of that mansion is not difficult to blow away by eradicating its roots.
It's difficult to find the fundamental truth.
Besides, the reality was that it was not something that could be solved with a sword or something like that.
'If it could be solved with a sword, then Grand Duke Illeston would have defeated them all.'
In other words, the people living in that mansion are powerless people who must either avoid or be affected when the curse is activated.
“It’s even stranger that nothing happened for two weeks in the first place.”
Before Simone came, it was a place where curses would strike almost every day, to the point where she wondered how things ever went on.
Knowing that Simone's worries were unfounded, Geneon quietly looked out the window.
“Let’s go and see first.”
Arrived at the mansion with worries.
“...I told you. I...”
It's actually stranger if nothing happens.
Geneon was left speechless at Simone's words.
Simone... Come on... Come on... Oh, come on... Come on...
All the servants who came to greet her had their necks bent backward.

Support Novellate!
Yk now that I think about it, it's very weird how when it comes to the count engdel(?)'s episode just one curse made everyone within the mansion dead but it's weird how the illeston mansion were able to keep things afloat for 300 years even though they've experienced countless of curses within the mansion.
