THYU - Chapter 80

Ash's expression crumpled after checking the letter from the Heston family.

The story was that Violet was informing the noble families about this situation, so what happened?

Since the Heston family cares a lot about respect, Violet's proactive behavior seems especially embarrassing.

Ash believed that all the choices he had made so far were just and reasonable. He repaid the country's debt with his own efforts and calmed public sentiment with his own efforts.

However, his sister was saying that she would divorce for her own safety, and now she was refusing to remarry even though he had arranged for her to sort things out, so he was going crazy.

Ash, whose head was a mess, stood up to call his friends and go hunting, but Robben, his bodyguard, said,

"Your Highness, northerners have come to the capital city."

"Heston?"

"No, they are the wives of those who work in the salt mines of Calibon."

"Why them?"

"They said the mine entrance had collapsed and the miners were trapped, so they were asking for help."

"You want me to help them with that? They seem to think that just because I farm, I really am a farmer. Tell him to get off right away."

Ash Lawrence, who considered himself a King, felt ashamed that the miners' wives had dared to come to see him.

This was all because of his father. Didn't his prestige fall because he disbanded the royal family to resolve the accident his father had caused?

Ash clicked his tongue and took out the shotgun he had hung on the wall for his hunting hobby. Robben, who was watching from the side, hesitated and spoke carefully.

"But wouldn't it be nice to see them? These days, there are often reporters who are hostile to the royal family. First of all, to appease..."

Robben's persuasion seemed to have worked as Ash got irritated and hung the shotgun again. He had no choice but to leave the Filice family mansion where he was staying and head to the now-empty royal castle.

Six months ago, Winter Blooming purchased everything from the royal castle except for the part that belonged to the country.

And it was left as is without taking any action. The mere fact that the Palace was being neglected was a huge blow to Ash's image. And it was probably clear that Winter was intentionally getting revenge on Ash by throwing away a lot of his money. It was better not to expect anything like patriotism from him in the first place.

As soon as Ash got out of the carriage, the miner's wives came running.

"Please save my husbands!"

"There's a landslide and we can't even find the entrance! My husband has been trapped in the mine for two days..."

The women who ran frantically knelt in front, crying bitterly. Ash was irritated that he had to be here. However, it was true that he saw reporters who were hostile to him these days, so he understood that completely ignoring them, as Robben said, would not be good for his image.

But he had no intention of spending a lot of time on such trivial matters. He tried not to frown and thought of a solution.

And he soon came up with a way to solve his problems at the same time.

"I heard the story from my escort knight, and I'm on my way to check the solution right away."

"Are you sure?"

"I have earnestly asked my dear sister Violet to help me resolve this matter. I will support you in both material and spiritual ways behind the scenes. Oh, and her husband is a Kanik like you, so he will be happy to help."

"Thank you! Thank you, Your Highness!"

The miner's wives were confused, greeted them half-heartedly, and ran to the Violet couple's mansion that Ash had told them about.

After handling the luggage, Ash spoke to Robben with a satisfied expression.

"If Violet refuses, reporters will follow her, and if she accepts, there will be no time to complain about not wanting to remarry."

"Yes."

"I have to go hunting right away, so call the meeting."

"Yes, Your Highness."

Even after Robben answered politely, he looked towards the miner's wives with a worried look on his face.

The carriage that Violet and her husband rode stopped under the tree that Violet had chosen. There was a lovely picnic set up under the tree.

As Violet sat down, Winter stuffed his hands in his pockets and tapped the end of the light pink fluffy fabric with the toe of his shoe.

"I was patient until I decorated it with roses, but this is too much."

"Didn't you ask me to decorate the roses?"

"Of course not. Lulu did it on her own."

Winter, who was speaking in a grunting tone, took a step back and admired Violet looking up at her from under the tree. Her clothes also seemed to be arranged in a coordinated way, with a dress embroidered with flowers dessert on cute plates, and a teacup.

"Come and sit here."

"You look like a Princess from a fairy tale."

Winter spoke calmly and lay down near Violet. Then Violet said, putting the flower petals Winter gave her into a transparent vase.

"It is said that if a petal falls in here, your wish will come true. Since it's a date you suggested, I'll let you beg."

"What are the chances that a flower petal will fit here?"

"It's amazing that we beat such difficult odds."

Winter tapped the bottle with a reluctant expression. Then he raised his head and looked at the tree and said.

"You chose the tree well."

"Yes."

Violet looked up and took a sip of tea.

There was no special conversation after that, but the two really liked the quiet. The sound of leaves shaking in the wind sounded like rain, and small birds often made bright sounds. Violet, who had been tasting various desserts, took a bite of a sandwich, closed her eyes slightly, and opened them.

"Why?"

When Winter, who captured that moment, asked why, Violet confirmed that Turin was not there and whispered softly.

"It's so sweet."

Winter took the sandwich from her hand, put it all in one bite, and munched. Then he lifted his delicious torso and grabbed another sandwich of the same type.

Violet said as if she had finally figured it out.

"I think this sandwich is yours."

"It seems like that. Because you don't eat anything too sweet again."

He replied and finished the sandwich in one mouthful, causing Violet to laugh. Then Winter said, holding down a sandwich.

"Look. It's already been cut into quarters. Why should we share another bite of this? Is it rude if I fill my mouth with food?"

"I don't know. I don't see many people like that."

"Anyway, you saw it. But why are you smiling at me?"

"I laughed because it made me laugh. I didn't laugh when other people ate like that, but when you ate like that, it strangely made me laugh. Hmm... Is this something that feels bad?"

"No. I was just curious as to why."

Winter shrugged, placed his hands on the back of his back, leaned back, and mumbled.

"Right. It was just something funny because I did it."

Then he took a gulp of coffee filled with ice. But that part was so funny that Violet couldn't hold back her laughter and covered her face with both hands. She thought Winter might have been offended when she laughed just now, so she lowered her head and suppressed her laughter, but Winter grabbed her right wrist and took her hand away from her face.

"You're laughing again."

"Sorry."

"Do not laugh."

"Yes."

Violet responded and started trying not to laugh. When she tried not to laugh, she burst out laughing even more. The corner of Winter's mouth twitched as he stared at her complicated expression trying to hold back her laughter.

"Why do you keep smiling when I tell you not to smile?"

"Because I can't make you laugh, I laugh more."

"Then why are you smiling?"

"It's rude if I don't smile while the other person keeps smiling."

"That certainly is so."

Violet agreed and eventually burst out laughing. Winter's face, looking at her, looked like a child today, and all his guard was relaxed. While they were enjoying their leisurely tea time, Jen frantically came running from far away and said to Violet.

"Come on, little madam!" Violet asked worriedly.

"Jen, what's going on?"

"Ah, the miner's wives are here. It looks like there's a big problem in the north!"

Jen, who had run out of breath, took a breath and spoke again.

"The salt mine in Calibon has collapsed and the miners are trapped inside! They saw Master Ash first and he told them to go here! It's already been 48 hours!"

As soon as Violet heard the story, she quickly put on the shoes she had taken off and spoke to Winter.

"I have to go. Jen, please bring the miner's wives to the parlor."

"Yes, Little Madame!"

Violet tried to immediately follow Jen, but Winter grabbed her arm.

"Why are you looking at those women? Can't you tell when you see it? Just looking at it, that bastard is leaving it to you. There is nothing to be gained and it is just hard work."

"Why am I not getting anything? People's lives were at stake."

"Is it the life of someone you know? No."

"But I can't pretend not to know the people who came to see me."

When Violet tried to move again, Winter grabbed her arm.

"Pretend you don't know. You haven't been treated like a Princess until now, so why are they paying attention now?"

"Why are you stopping me?"

When Violet asked, Winter answered in a voice mixed with displeasure.

"It's just about benefit. What you want now is not to remarry. From now on even if you invite people here every day and throw a party to get the nobles to side with you, you don't have enough time. No, there's not even enough time to prepare to run away right away. All the miners in the collapsed mine would have died anyway, so it would just be a waste of time and money, but let's say you were really lucky and saved at least one person. Then how much do you think that one person can solve your situation?"

"..."

"I heard they came from Calibon. Most of the miners there are from the Kanik clan like me. Do you know what I mean?"

"No."

"Even if you save them, the people of  Rockround will be against us, asking why we wasted their taxes on saving the Kanik clan bastard."

"Oh, that's what you were talking about."

Violet nodded and took her arm away from Winter.

"Then it's even more my job."

Violet immediately got into the carriage.

***

The residents of the mansion offered tea to the miners' wives, but no one drank it.

There were so many rejections before they decided to come here to the King of the capital, that there was no hope in their eyes.

Still, Nancy, the youngest miner's wife among them, mustered up her remaining strength and explained the situation to Violet again.

After listening to the detailed explanation of the situation, Violet nodded and stood up.

"We'll need manpower."

"Now I have no more room to ask..."

"Yes?"

"There is a fire brigade in the capital that goes when trouble arises for the royal family. I heard they're not doing anything right now, so I'll ask them to do it."

Naturally, Nancy, who thought she would refuse first and planned to hang on, did not immediately understand what she was saying and made a puzzled expression. Violet followed suit.

"Everyone else, I suggest you go back and check the situation there. And Nancy, would you please come with me to meet the fire brigade and then show me the way?"

"Yes, yes! Thank you, Your Highness!"

"I know this isn't the time to say this, but... The royal family has been disbanded, so please just call me Ma'am."

Nancy nodded her head sharply at Violet's words. Nancy, who sent the group away first, followed Violet and said.

"48 hours have passed since they were buried. Eighteen people are buried in the mine, and they only have a week's worth of food."

"What about drinking water?"

"It probably took a week's worth as well."

"I guess I should take you to the doctor."

Violet soon thought of a suitable doctor to join her on this uncertain journey. After contacting Eglin to confirm Beryl's location, she went straight to the castle where the fire brigade was located and boarded the carriage.

At that time, Winter's hand came through the carriage door and grabbed Violet's arm.

"Get off."
