ICTV - Side Story 7

I change The Villain

Soon, there was a crashing sound from inside and Damian, wearing an apron, came running out.

"Mera, you're here! I'm sorrу, саn you wait a moment? Now all I have to do is move it."

Now that she thinks about it, she smells a delicious smell. Mera sat down and patiently waited for Damian.

After a while, Damien took off his apron and placed a glass bowl full of cookies in front of Mera.

"What about Mouchet?"

"I told him to come play with Taksha."

"Yes."

Damien suggested while pouring tea.

"It's a butter cookie. Try it."

"I thought you could make cookies too?"

"Yes, the temple often baked it for the young priests."

Mera picked up a cookie and tasted it. And she was amazed.

"Wow, this is really delicious."

"I'm glad it suits your taste. By the way, Mera."

Damian bowed his head deeply.

"I'm really sorry about yesterday. Suddenly sending you back like that."

"No, I made a mistake that day too. Because I suddenly said something like that."

Mera hurriedly waved her hand.

"You were very embarrassed because of me, right? I was truly sorry."

"No. I am truly sorry."

"No. I have more."

"I'm more..."

The two repeated the same conversation for a while and then took a sip of tea with tired faces.

Mera looked at Damian, who was unable to make eye contact with her. She thinks it would be better to clarify.

Mera put down her teacup and said.

"Well, but I really want you to know this one thing."

"...What is it?"

"I never said that to embarrass Damian."

"..."

Only then did Damian make eye contact with Mera. Mera looked at Damian with a nervous heart. Soon, Damian smiled faintly.

"I know."

Mera's face brightened immediately.

"Really? Do you believe me?!"

"Of course. It's Mera and no one else. Mera is the most refreshing person I've ever met."

Damian said, still smiling.

"If Mera finds someone you wants to marry, I think you will proudly say let's get married."

"... When I got to know you, I would say that you are a very shy person, but I can't refute that."

"That's your strength. I really like Mera like that."

"Haha. I'm so glad you like it. You are so kind to me too.... Yes?"

Mera looked at Damian blankly.

But Damian was still smiling. Mera's heart started pounding frantically again.

Was what he just said a confession? No, it's a bit ambiguous. What should I do in times like this? Should I return the compliment?

As Mera was conflicted, Damian lowered his eyes.

"Me, Mera."

"Yes. Damian."

"The reason I suddenly sent you back then was absolutely not because I felt burdened or anything like that."

"..."

Mera also became serious in the suddenly serious atmosphere. Mera asked.

"Then why did you send me back?"

"... The moment I heard those words, I came to my senses. It made me realize that I had really quit being a priest. I also wondered if it was possible for someone who had always been a priest to become interested in dating or marriage so easily."

"Damian, it's okay. Because that's what interest is all about. It would be great if I became interested in n the field I wanted at the time I wanted."

"... Still."

"It would definitely be a problem if someone who was a priest became interested in dating or marriage. But you've stopped now. It's not like you're harming anyone, so don't worry too much about it."

"..."

But Damian's expression still wasn't good.

Did I give this advice too easily?

Mera asked while looking at Damien.

"Are you still having trouble?"

"No. I was surprised because it was so true. You are right, Mera. If I look at it one by one, there is no problem at all. But there's still something that bothers me."

"... What is that?"

"I'm sorry, Mera."

Damian spoke in a quiet voice.

"I can't muster up the courage because I can clearly imagine what other people will say about me and you.. It doesn't matter if it just looks bad on me, but I'm sure you will look bad on me too."

"..."

"Even though I quit my priesthood, there are sure to be people who criticize me for becoming interested in the opposite sex too quickly. Some people may recklessly assume that it was you who made me quit the priesthood. I would be really sad if you become unhappy because of me."

"I know, other people's eyes. You can never ignore it."

Mera, who had been listening to him silently, opened her mouth.

"It's really hard to bear, especially when someone you care about gets criticized for being criticized for something that doesn't make sense."

“...Mera?”

"I understand. This is something I experienced once."

Damian's eyes widened immediately.

"What is that...."

"You know, Damian. You know I'm strong, right?"

Damian nodded.

"I heard it so hard from other people. Why is she so strong? Every time I answered, I was born strong and there was no special reason. But no matter how honest I was, people didn't believe me. I constantly suspected and questioned whether there must be another reason why I was strong. Some people even said that my mother may have eaten something wrong while I was in the womb."

Damian's eyebrows immediately furrowed.

"That's really rude. How can people say that?"

"Yes. I thought so too. But I couldn't get angry. When I got angry because they did something rude to me, they pushed me as if I was going to solve everything violently. For a strong person like me, getting angry itself is a threat or something? Isn't this really absurd? I still get angry when I think about what happened back then."

Damian nodded eagerly.

"Of course. It makes me really angry when I hear it."

"But at that time, my head wasn't working properly. At that time, I thought I was really strange and that people said that because I was a violent person. I thought there was nothing wrong with those people and that only I had a problem. So back then, no matter what happened, I was the one who apologized first."

Mera raised the corners of her mouth in a pout.

"When I think about it now, I can't help but laugh, but I really did that at the time. That was also the quietest way to solve the problem. I didn't want things to get bigger and the town to become noisy. So I ended up getting used to it again and again. I didn't even know that bad feelings were building up in my heart."

Mera closed her eyes.

"Then one day it happened. That day too, I made ridiculous accusations against people. As always, I tried to endure it and move on. But then my vision suddenly turned completely white."

Mera, recalling that time, shook her head.

"When I came to my senses, I found myself smashing everything around me. I was standing there blankly because I couldn't understand the situation, and people were saying that to me."

Mera blurted out casually.

"I'm a monster."

"..."

"The moment I heard those words, my eyes turned white again. I cried and cried that day. And then I thought. What's the point of putting in so much effort? If you make just one mistake, everything will fall apart."

"...Mera."

"So from that day on, I just lived without paying attention to the village people. I've even heard people say that it's a difficult world to live in because there are monsters like me. But what's interesting is that because I live like a monster, most people can't treat me carelessly. They might swear and curse behind my back, but they were careful what they said in front of me."

Mera made a bitter expression.

"It's amazing, isn't it? Because it's a barracks, people can't treat me well."

"Yes, it's really fascinating."

"But at that time, I thought it was so thrilling and good. But a part of my heart was always uncomfortable. I wondered how long I would have to live like this. But like before, I hated looking at people. The future was truly bleak. Then one day it happened."

Mera's dark face brightened as if It had never happened before. She said as she put her hands together as if she was praying.

"I was going to the grocery store to buy eggs when a luxurious carriage came into town. And the carriage door opened, revealing the most beautiful person I had ever seen."

"Maybe she is..."

"Yes! That was the first meeting between the Lady and me!"

The atmosphere changed as if it had suddenly become dark. Damien smiled at the sight of Mera looking happy just thinking about Rose.

"At that time, the Young Lady was invited to a party by Madam's friend and visited the village with her family. The reason she got off the carriage was because the Master wanted to take a look around the village before going to the mansion. The moment when the Young Lady is willing to take the trouble and take a step forward for the Master!"

Mera's voice grew louder again.

"She made eye contact with me. I dropped the whole egg in the basket right then and there. And when I realized it was too late, I screamed. At that time, I didn't have any financial resources. The Lady kept looking at me, and then she came over. I'm going to give you a reward, so can you show me around the village?"

Mera smiled brightly while holding the calyx.

"Even as a young girl, I was able to understand the Young Lady's intentions. If she gives me a lot of money, there is a high possibility that I will not receive it, so she asked me to guide her to the village."

"Wow, I guess Mera really couldn't help but develop a crush on her."

"Yes. I couldn't help but like her. But there was a separate decisive moment when I ended up liking the Lady."

"What is that?"

"I was in the middle of looking around the village when the Young Lady said she was hungry. The Master immediately made the Young Lady sit on a nearby bench and asked me to bring him something to eat. They gave me an excessive amount of money."

Beryl at that time was full of excitement. He said he was going out with his younger sister after a long time. Beryl told her to buy all the delicious food here, and he said that Mera knew. But another problem arose there.

"...People have made wild guesses again, haven't they?"

"That's correct. When they saw the village official monster, who had no special job, suddenly buying up all the snacks she could find, people guessed among themselves who she had stolen the money from. But when words pass through many mouths, the content changes little by little, right?"

At first, there was only speculation that she had bought food with money stolen from others, but at some point, people started talking about her buying food with money stolen from others by threatening them.

Mera, unaware of that fact, tried to hurry back to the two before the food got cold. But at that moment, a security guard blocked the way.
