ICTV - Side Story Chapter 10

I change The Villain

"Wow, it's been a while since we drank tea at a cafe like this."

"That's right. I got married, and you were busy with deadlines. Still, I'm really glad I have this much free time."

Violet asked playfully after taking a sip of tea.

"So, how's your marriage going? Happy?"

"Hmm...."

Rose hesitated and then confessed honestly.

"Actually, I was really anxious before getting married. I'm not even sure if I can really do well. But even after marriage, I feel very anxious."

"Why? Are you still not convinced that you can't do well?"

"No."

"Then why?"

"..."

Rose hesitated again and then confessed honestly.

"I'm so happy."

"... What?"

Violet was dumbfounded.

"Are you serious about that?"

"Huh. I'm so happy that I wonder if I can be this happy."

"What, I was worried for no reason. I was worried that something was up because you suddenly got into a mood."

"Sorry. But I'm kind of embarrassed, to be honest."

Violet rested her chin and stared at Rose's face. And she said.

"But just by looking at your face, I can tell that you are happy right now. Your face has really improved."

"Really? Is it like that?"

"Huh. You look comfortable and relaxed. How fun is married life?"

"It's really, really fun. Belial tries to be nice to me. So I'm trying to be nice to Belial, too. But I guess it's true that things become similar when you get married. It happened just the other day, but it's been a while since my husband..."

Rose stopped what she was saying. Violet was staring at Rose again.

Rose asked.

"Why are you doing this again this time?"

"No. You use the word 'husband' so naturally."

"Yes?"

"Huh. Suddenly it dawned on me that my friend was really married."

Violet buried her face on the table.

"Oh, I really shouldn't be like this, but I'm still amazed that you're married. I still vividly remember wearing my school uniform, buying tteokbokki, and eating chicken with you. You suddenly feel like a real adult. Of course, based on age, you and I are both adults... Oh, you know what I mean?"

"Yes, of course I know."

Rose nodded.

"When I was young, I thought that I would become an adult as soon as I got older, but I don't think that just because you get older doesn't mean you will become an adult right away."

"At least you seem more mature than me. You're married too."

"No, I think I have a long way to go before I become a real adult."

After saying that,  Rose took a bite of Mont Blanc. Violet continued to lie down on the table and asked in a voice as loud as a mosquito.

"Even if we get married, you and I will still be friends, right?"

"Of course we are friends."

"Even if I do something immature, you will stay by my side, right?"

*I often do immature things too."

"Wow, after all, we're friends for life."

Violet stood up and hugged Rose. Rose looked at Violet with soft eyes.

At that time, the sound of fireworks exploding was suddenly heard outside. The two looked out the window with puzzled eyes. People were busy going somewhere.

"The streets are very noisy today."

"What's going on? Should I ask the clerk?"

Just then, a clerk appeared holding a plate of cookies that Violet had ordered. Violet immediately asked the clerk.

"Is there anything happening today?"

The clerk nodded immediately.

"Ah yes. They say there's a festival today."

"A festival?"

"Yes. I don't know the details...."

The clerk, who was trailing off his words, smiled brightly and said.

"I heard it's a festival in honor of Edgar Cridrian? If you two have time, please go."

The two froze.

***

"Edgar was our only hope. Although he was a nobleman, he did not hesitate to extend his hand to commoners like us. If it weren't for those who kept his power growing day by day in check, he would still have done many good deeds."

The two of them looked at the man who was standing on the podium and giving a speech.

"Although Edgar is no longer in this world, we held this event to remember him forever. I hope you enjoy it to your heart's content."

When the speech ended, people cheered in unison and then dispersed to enjoy the festival. There were only two people who were as hard as stone.

"What on earth is this...?"

Violet trailed off and quickly looked back at Rose. Rose was still stiff. Violet asked, quickly grabbing Rose's arm.

"Rose, are you okay?"

Rose looked back at Violet and nodded slowly.

"Of course I'm okay."

"Shall we go back to the cafe first? If we stay here, only bad memories will come to mind."

"Okay, then."

As soon as Rose answered, Violet started walking while holding Rose's arm. The two tried to quickly leave the venue, but it wasn't easy. This was because there were so many people and things.

"Wow, is this statue really the same as Edgar? How did you make this deal?"

"It was a deal made through cooperation between wizards who respected Edgar. It's a really great statue, isn't it?"

"There are so many portraits of Edgar. "I should buy one and hang it inside the house."

Edgar here, Edgar there, it was all about him. Rose just closed her eyes.

But at that very moment, someone whispered into Rose's ear.

'You said that pain and death are all yours.

Rose opened her eyes in shock. How could she forget these words?

'I cannot let go of these impulsive and loving feelings, even when I'm dying.'

These are Edgar's last words while treating him before taking his own life. Rose looked around her.

'Please continue to remember and resent me while this heart beats.'

It was still only things related to Edgar.

Rose looked at Edgar's statue in silence. Violet asked, noticing where Rose was looking.

"Rose, you're really okay, right?"

"Yes, it's really okay, so don't worry. By the way, Violet."

"Yes, why?"

Rose asked bluntly.

"How about you?"

"...Huh?"

"Are you okay?"

"..."

Violet couldn't say anything. Rose stopped walking. The moment Violet's feet stopped, Rose hugged him. Violet didn't move as she buried her face in Rose's arms.

***

"Rose, you don't look good today."

As soon as Rose arrived at the mansion, changed tо соmопарте clothes, and immediately lay down on the bed. Belial asked as he sat down next to Rose.

"Shall I tell the maids to bring me the Mont Blanc?"

"No. It's okay."

Rose turned her head and glanced at Belial. Belial looked at Rose with his quizzical eyes. Rose stared at Belial without moving for a moment, then opened her mouth.

"Today, while having tea with Violet, I happened to see that people were holding a festival in honor of Lord Credrian."

Belial immediately froze.

"I felt bad because everything about him was everywhere."

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, seeing your face cheers me up."

Rose patted the seat next to her.

"Belial is lying here too."

Belial obediently lay down next to Rose. Rose rolled over and clung to Belial as if he had been waiting. Belial gently rubbed Rose's back and opened his mouth.

"This gives us one more reason to never forget Edgar."

"..."

"I hate to admit it, but he's really amazing."

Belial spat harshly.

"He probably predicted this situation and took his life, right?"

"Yes, I think so."

Rose had no choice but to agree. After the conversation, the two said nothing and then held each other's hands. Rose was lying motionless while holding Belial's hand, and then she suddenly asked.

"Belial, what are you going to do tomorrow?"

"Ah, I decided to meet with the other young people because I had something to discuss. How about you?"

"I plan to go to Violet's house as soon as the sun rises tomorrow. I'm so worried about Violet."

"Please."

Belial tenderly pressed his lips to Rose's forehead. Rose felt his body getting warmer and yawned softly.

"Sleep early today, Belial."

"Is it so."

Rose said as she closed her eyes.

"Sleep well, Belial."

"You too."

In times like this, it's best to clear your head and sleep.

The two quickly fell asleep while holding each other's hands.

***

"Why did you do that? Really, why did you do that?!"

At that time, a riot was taking place at the Seneta family mansion. Violet cried out, slamming both fists on the table.

"Why did you really do that...!"

Arshan could only watch in silence.

"Why did you, who was so responsible, run away like that? Why one earth!"

Tears fell non-stop.

"If you did something like that, you should think about getting punished! You haven't thought about us at all, have you? Yes? You selfish bastard!! I told you to be selfish, but I didn't mean to be so selfish! And above all...! More than anything... !!"

Violet screamed, covering her face with her palms.

"You were once really precious to me!!"

Violet kept thinking of the face that smiled sweetly at her, the warm words that soothed her tired heart, and the presence that always gave her strength when she was alone.

No matter how hard she tried, no matter how hard she tried to forget, Violet couldn't erase the moments she had with Edgar.
