TVTLQ - Chapter 79

The Villainess Wants To Live Quietly

"Are you really going to see Miss Pierre? It's almost midnight now. She must have already returned to the mansion. Wow, Duke!"

Calix hurriedly rode away, leaving Dominic's shout behind.

He was confident that Rosenia would remain at the top. Because if she doesn't, she won't be able to survive.

When Calix arrived at the top of Pierre, he had already transformed into Dominic Willock, Rosenia's investment advisor.

However, instead of the expected Rosenia, her secretary Annie greeted Calix.

"Oh my, Mr. Dominic! What happened at this time... Are you back from vacation already?"

"Where is the Vice President?"

Calix found Rosenia first.

Then Annie's expression darkened.

"I see you heard it too, Dominic. Vice President is currently in Dostic."

"It's late at night and she's still there?"

"She said she had something to look around, but she hasn't come back yet. She said he would come soon..."

For some reason, he didn't have a good feeling.

Calix hurriedly turned his horse to Dostic.

"What is this....?"

When he arrived at Dostic, he stopped with a puzzled look on his face.

As night fell, Dostic, which should have been dark, was brightly lit.

The source of the light was numerous knights holding torches.

The badge of the Imperial Knights on their chests sparkled yellow.

And what made him even more uneasy was that they all had serious expressions on their faces and were running around busily.

At that moment, Rosenia's escort knight caught his eye.

"Look here."

"Huh, Mr. Willock?"

"How is this happening? Why are the imperial knights gathered together?"

"Well, His Royal Highness is now buried in the basement of the factory!"

"What?!"

Why is Rexed suddenly here? What does it mean that it was buried underground?

Calix's complexion darkened.

"No way, I heard that he passed away..."

"No! How could I ever say such profanity?"

"Then what on earth are you talking about? I heard Rexed were buried underground in the factory."

"While touring the factory, His Highness discovered the basement and went downstairs. Suddenly, there was an explosion and the passage collapsed."

"The basement?"

"Yes. It was right in front of the statue of a Saint. However..."

"What is it? Speak properly. And where is the Vice President?"

"It seems that the Vice President is also trapped."

For a moment, Calix thought he had stopped breathing.

Is this how a fish jumping out of the water feels?

It was pounding violently as if someone was squeezing his heart. He spoke slowly.

"Now... What did you say? Who is trapped there?"

"The Vice President went inside alone, saying she wanted to look around for a while. But after that, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince came. His Majesty the Crown Prince asked who she was, and I had no choice but to tell him my identity and the fact that Vice President was inside."

"..."

"And so...His Royal Highness the Crown Prince said that punishment should be imposed on the Vice President for violating the no-entry order. So, he entered the factory with the technicians and while looking inside, he saw that the basement entrance was open and went down there."

".... Are you sure that Vice President also went down to the basement?"

"I was standing watch outside the factory, but the Vice President did not come out again until His Royal Highness the Crown Prince arrived. We also checked with our knights, but she was nowhere to be found. So maybe... It seems that Vice President  went down into the basement and was buried below when it collapsed."

Calix stumbled and touched his forehead.

Rosenia is down there.

Below that scene numerous knights are running around with serious faces.

Collapses are the accidents that cause the most severe casualties. In the event of a collapse, those trapped inside must be rescued from the outside, but that is not easy.

People trapped inside desperately hope that someone will come to save them, but they are often tortured and die of hunger, thirst, or injuries.

That's why Calix went all the way to the Pontry Mine in person.

"Go quickly. I think you need to leave quickly. I was holding onto you without even noticing it."

When he requested a 15-day vacation, Rosenia was showing signs of disappointment, and Calix pretended not to notice.

The purpose was to distance himself from the feeling that he was being manipulated by her.

But in the end, it was he, not anyone else, who could not overcome his desire and kissed the other person's forehead.

When Calix thinks back, he is always making excuses.

The reason he approaches Rosenia is under the pretext of coveting her as a talent.

The reason he visits Pierre's top several times a week is under the pretext of getting closer to her and lowering her guard.

It was as if there was no reason to covet her other than because she was a merchant.

But since when?

Calix was more curious about what Rosenia did all day than about the business.

Rather than trying to get her to fit into the Alter Company, he was trying to fit into her himself.

Why did he do that?

There was no need to go that far. If she was merely a 'tool' for the Alter Company, his heart shouldn't be this painful at this moment.

At that moment, Calix realized. His feelings did not come from simply thinking of Rosenia as a talent not to be missed.

Rather, it was a feeling that arose because he loved her so much.

If he loses Rosenia here, he will regret it terribly.

Perhaps forever.

"Where is the commander of the Imperial Knights? If the underground passage has already collapsed, there is a potential risk of further collapse. Before that, we need to rescue them both. Lead me to him right now."

Calix's eyes, realizing his own thoughts, no longer wavered.

***

What do we do?

Am I trapped like this?

I looked at the blocked entrance in confusion.

The underground passage, which had collapsed from the ceiling, was no longer functioning as a passage at all.

Large, randomly broken stones filled the top of the stairs, leaving no empty space to be seen.

Does this make sense?

"Help!"

I screamed at the top of my voice.

But there was no answerback.

It seemed like no sound could come or go through the tightly closed passage.

"Whoa."

At that time, a sigh was heard.

Only then did I remember the person I had forgotten for a while. When I looked back, Rexed was standing up with difficulty.

I hurried over to him.

"Your Highness, are you okay?"

Rexed slapped my hand away.

"Get it away."

Fortunately, it seemed like there were no injuries.

I breathed a sigh of relief and then quickly burst into tears.

I can't believe things are so complicated.

I'm sure Rexed thinks I planned t his whole thing.

"Your Highness, I did not do this. Perhaps the magic installed in the passageway..."

"Magic?"

He growled. I swallowed my saliva and continued.

"I heard that there is a magic installed to prevent outsiders from entering. It appears that it has been activated."

"... It's a magic that is activated when targeting people. It's like confessing that it was a trap set by the Young Lady."

"No! That's because I'm resistant to magic. But perhaps Your Highness... Hold on a moment, Your Highness."

After discovering something. I took long strides towards him.

He hated it.

"Get out of my way."

"What is this. Why is your face the color of rotten fruit?"

It was dark so I couldn't tell.

Rexed's face turned blue and tired.

As I got closer, I was sure he wasn't normal.

"There is nothing I can't say to the Crown Prince of the empire..."

Rexed muttered weakly. He was breathing heavily and breaking into a cold sweat.

I asked out of fear.

"Where are you hurt?"

There's no bleeding anywhere, and it doesn't look like there's any external injury.

"Have you ever had a chronic illness? Or claustrophobia?"

"Not everything."

Rexed closed his eyes and muttered. Perhaps because of his strength, he eventually collapsed to the ground.

Then why are you suddenly like this?

I was even more embarrassed because nothing happened to me.

"I need to get out of here."

Because his condition seemed serious, I made a quick decision.
