SPMB - Chapter 162

My Body Has Been Possessed By Someone

Sylvien took a step back.

He's not crazy.

Kalen, who was muttering with a straight face, looked as if something in his head had been broken.

His usual cool-headed rationality seemed to have died with Kanna when she died and was nowhere to be seen.

Sylvien left the chapel just like that. Only after getting into the carriage did Sylvien notice that his hands were sweaty.

Earlier, he thought he heard a loud noise somewhere, but it was the sound of his own heart. A pounding sound rang in his ears.

Silvienne gulped as he loosened the cravat that was tight around his neck.

'I have to meet Prince Argon.'

He must know something.

Why did Kanna die? Is it true that she committed suicide? Why is Kalen Addis so crazy?

Why...

"Why?"

Why?

Why are you dead, Kanna?

His throat got clogged.

Sylvien nervously ripped off the cravat and threw it away.

There's no reason. A woman like her.

Kanna was a woman who looked like she could survive even if her surroundings were set on fire.

Why did a fiery woman who seemed like she could burn and sacrifice everything around her to survive alone, do such a thing?

Those eyes, those eyes with high fever, those eyes that look like burn marks are still vivid....

Was it all an act? So did she commit suicide?

'It's foolish.'

As soon as he thought that, he knew he didn't deserve it.

How dare he call her foolish?

Kanna is a woman who has lived a life worse than death. She was a woman who lived like a scum in Addis and Valentino.

He was the one who was always watching.

What right does he have to dare like that?

Sylvien hated looking back and ruminating about the past. He has never regretted anything, nor has he ever had regrets about the choices she discarded.

But still.

If...

What if?

If only he had reached out to her.

If only she had been protected by making it public rather than trying to cover up the incident with Prince Cassil.

If only he had protected her when she was dragged in and beaten by Josephine.

Sylvien closed his eyes. In an instant, memories of the past unfolded as clearly as a lie.

"Well, Your Excellency. I have something to tell you."

Last spring.

When Sylvien heard from the butler that Kanna had been beaten with a cane by Josephine and was being neglected without receiving any treatment.

"So?"

Sylvien answered like this.

It was just annoying. So he told him to leave her alone. He thought it wouldn't matter if she died like this.

But what if...

"Take your medicine. I will go find it myself."

If only Sylvien had said this.

Instead of turning away, he wished he had gone to her room with the medicine.

"What?"

Kanna must have stared at herself in surprise.

"What's going on here...?"

She obviously couldn't believe it. Because she was the one who always ignored and looked away.

The imaginary Sylvien smiled bitterly and approached her.

He sat down next to Kanna, who was lying down with her swollen legs and wiped her sweaty forehead with a handkerchief.

"I'm sorry for pretending not to know you all this time."

And he said something he had never said before.

"I'm sorry for letting you suffer."

At that time, he had the opportunity to say this.

"It's my fault. If I had paid more attention to you, you wouldn't have clung to me so desperately."

He had a chance to admit that fact a little sooner. There were so many opportunities to do so.

"I'm sorry for leaving you to fall apart like this."

But the moment he opened his eyes, everything disappeared like foam.

All he sees is an empty chair.

That is the future that may have unfolded for them.

However, these were paths that Sylvien did not take, opportunities that would never come back.

Sylvien stared out the window. The moment he saw the clear sky without a single cloud, a bitter feeling rushed over him and squeezed his heart.

Kanna.

She is enough to choose that dazzling sky, this world, this life, and leave for an unknown world, a place that may possibly be eternal darkness.

Was this place that bad?

'I didn't know. I really didn't know.'

He didn't know it would be that much.

Even though he was once her husband.

***

"Are you drinking?"

Late that night, Argon came.

Sylvien, who was sitting on the sofa drinking whiskey, turned his head helplessly.

"Are you drunk?"

"No."

"I think you drank the whole bottle by myself."

"Yes, but it's okay."

Argon grinned and sat across from him.

"Oh my God. This is the first time I've seen the Duke so disheveled. Do you think you are very heartbroken because your divorced wife died?"

"No."

"Button your shirt properly and say that."

Sylvien narrowed his eyebrows.

He didn't like Argon's playful face.

"My wife."

No.

"My ex-wife died. Is that something you'll be very happy about?"

Kanna is dead, is he laughing?

The woman committed suicide. She committed suicide. She was so unhappy in life that she fled to death, and Argon laughs?

Sylvien's heart was immediately shaken. His grip on the glass tightened.

"That's strange. Was the Duke interested in Kanna?"

"This is the woman who was my wife."

"When she was your wife, you didn't care whether she died or not, but now that she's dead, do you feel empty?"

In an instant, all will fight disappeared. That was correct.

"Did Kanna really commit suicide?"

"Huh. They said she committed suicide in front of Kalen Addis by stabbing her in the chest with a knife."

"..."

"So Sir Kalen's hair turned completely white in one day."

Suddenly, Sylvien thought of Kalen, whom he had seen in the chapel. The man with the face of a young man and the hair of an old man. He looked half out of his mind.

"Lord Kalen will probably have nightmares for the rest of his life. He will never forget that scene until he dies."

"..."

"But Duke, it may be too early to be sad."

"What do you mean?"

"Maybe Kanna is alive."

"She is dead. She's on her way after checking out the body."

"It could be fake."

Sylvien slowly opened his eyes. If it had been anyone else, he wouldn't have even listened. However, the opponent was a man with the largest information network in the empire.

"Please tell me in detail."

"Are you ready to pay the price?"

"Of course."

"Now that Crescent is dead, I have become the likely successor to the throne. There is Cassil, but no one will nominate him."

Argon sighed.

"I am the next Emperor."

It was a future that could not be avoided just because Argon did not want it.

"You know the Duke, but I'm not interested in the throne. Do whatever it takes to prevent me from becoming Emperor. Even if it means starting a rebellion."

"I promise."

"Good."

Argon shrugged. This was breaking his loyalty to Kanna, but he had no choice. Because this was more important to him.

"Actually, Kanna wanted to get out of Addis. She wished to go into exile in another country."

"Exile?"

"Yes. So I gave Kanna the Yalden Kingdom's identity card as a gift. A forged identity card."

Argon continued as he saw Sylvien concentrating all his attention.

"It's a status card named Erdel Iris. However, there were traces that the woman with that identity card entered the Lamas Kingdom on the day Kanna died."

Argon grinned.

"So try to track her down."

  10. "It's a status card named Erdel Iris. However, there were traces that the woman with that identity card entered the Lamas Kingdom on the day Kanna died."...... ...... Is that possible?, because she entered Lamas Kingdom with Orsini, after he almost drowned her on the sea. She was unconscious at that time.
