IELDNDMH - Chapter 31 < Meeting Between Ex-Husband And Ex-Wife >

I Ended Up Living Up Next Door With My Ex-Husband

When I arrived in front of the futures exchange, I saw a large crowd of people.

The time is 3:30 PM. It was about half an hour before the start of the third trading session.

"There were quite a few people here today too, Your Highness."

Adrian said as he escorted me out of the carriage.

"I'm worried that there will be a lot of competitors."

I held his arm and walked out of the carriage house. As I reached the exit, I saw a pamphlet display stand next to it.

'It looks like a pamphlet containing information on transactions of the day.'

I picked up the pamphlet and continued talking leisurely, flipping through each page.

"Well... There probably won't be many competitors for what I'm buying."

At my words, Adrian's voice rose uncharacteristically high.

"Yes? So, are you saying you plan to purchase items that are less popular?"

After confirming the place where futures were traded, I handed the pamphlet to Adrian and got him to nod.

"That's it for now."

Adrian seemed to have a lot to say when I spoke calmly. However, it seems he couldn't bear to nag me, the Grand Duchess, so he just continued to sigh.

"Where can I take you?"

"Hestia Hall."

"If it's Hestia Hall...."

Adrian's eyes slowly opened wide as he looked at the pamphlet I handed him. Then, with a more worried expression than before, he bit his lip slightly.

"Are you sure you want to invest in this?" "huh..."

"Is it a special carriage?"

He asked back in complete disbelief.

"Don't you know very well that the current public reputation for that product is at an all-time low?"

"Yeah, you know, I know it better than anyone else."

I roughly nodded and walked towards Hestia Hall without hesitation. The special carriage developed with demon world technology shortened the travel time of a regular carriage by half. Therefore, when the special carriage was first released, the enthusiasm for purchasing it was very high.

Of course, that was before there were a series of accidents caused by special carriages. The first time, special carriage technology was introduced was about a year after exchanges began between the human world and the demon world.

Unfortunately, at that time, no one knew in advance that technology from the demon world could cause side effects in the human world. The imperial family recalled all special carriages that had been shipped, and after that, the value of special carriages fell endlessly.

Now, five years later, the newly developed special carriage is about to resume sales.

"Of course, I heard it. This time, we used previous accidents as a lesson to develop a more advanced special carriage."

"But Your Highness. Even so, wouldn't it be safer to watch the trend a little longer?"

Adrian walked next to me and continued to give me advice.

"Currently, special carriages are an item with too great a risk of investment failure. Due to the nature of futures trading, where an item to be received in the future is purchased in advance at the winning bid price at the current time if the value of the item purchased increases in the future, there will be a large profit.."

"...."

"On the other hand, if the value falls, don't you know that the loss will be enormous?"

His worries were very natural. If I didn't have the information from the original, I would have thought it was foolish to purchase the special carriage gift now.

However, since I saw Henry achieve enormous success by investing in special carriages in the original work, it was an investment that I could never give up.

"Just wait and see, Adrian."

I looked at Adrian and raised the corners of my mouth leisurely.

"This special carriage, as I call it, will be worth it very soon."

When we arrived at Hestia Hall behind the futures exchange, the staff at the door guided us. As we entered the hall, we had no choice but to stop for a moment.

"I expected it, but I never thought there  would be this many people!"

There were only about three people in the huge Hestia Hall. It was a very small number compared to other investment halls. Adrian looked at me with even more anxious eyes.

"Are you sure you don't mind? Even now, heading to another hall..."

Instead of answering, my eyes sparkled and I raised the corners of my mouth.

'No?'

It's actually nice to have no competition! Even the variables that I was worried would appear had disappeared forever. Now all I have to do is defeat Henry and Camilla as planned.

With that thought in mind, I looked around again. A man and a woman sitting at the front of the hall came into view. As expected, it was Camilla and Henry.

The restless lovers didn't seem to notice my presence as they were whispering subtle affection to each other. I smiled leisurely and walked towards them.

"Oh my! See you here again?"

When I artificially raised my voice and greeted Camilla and Henry, who were startled, roughly shook off each other's hands that were holding them under their unfolded handkerchiefs.

"Your Highness!"

As Camilla looked at me, Henry also became thoughtful and quickly got up from his seat.

Henry Bart. The first husband of Lobelia, the heroine of the original work, and a crazy sub-man.

'I was swearing at you a lot while watching it, but I didn't know that you would actually receive it like this!'

I slowly scanned him, feeling a strange sense of pleasure. A likable, smooth face, hair that shines like an autumn wheat field, and a smile that gives off a fresh, boyish look.

As expected, it was a pretty trash-like appearance that captivated both the heroine Lobelia, and the villainess Camilla.

Henry, who was smiling sweetly at me, soon lowered his head.

"Your Highness, it is an honor to meet you here."

"Nice to meet you too, Count Bart. Is this the first time we've had a conversation without the Grand Duke?"

"So it's even more of an honor for me, haha."

When I offered my hand, Henry held my hand politely.

'The meeting of the ex-husband and ex-wife of the main characters in the original work.'

After all, whether it is this world or the other world, the world is in the gist of a world!

At my self-deprecating smile, Henry glanced back at Camilla as if something was bothering him.

"I heard that Countess Dmitry also came to invest in a special carriage gift... It was such a happy coincidence that we ended up chatting with each other."

"Aha, really?"

I smiled and turned my head towards Camilla. Camilla, who had been biting her lip as if she was nervous until then, jumped up from her seat as soon as her eyes met mine.

"Your Highness, have you been okay so far?"

"Of course, Camilla. Thanks to you, I had a great time."

Camilla's complexion clearly darkened when I said, "Thank you."

'Wow, it's almost sad to see.'

The corner of Camilla's mouth was vibrating as she smiled while looking at me.

"But Your Highness, what's going on here...?"

Camilla seemed as if she had come to a place I couldn't come to. However, she must have already known that I was jumping into investing due to the information she had leaked in advance.

Still, showing that attitude clearly meant that he was ignoring me.

'Oh, it's not me who's being ignored, but the original Rebecca.'

Camilla had been exploiting Rebecca's emotional deficiencies and financial ignorance to bend her to her will. It's really sad news for Camilla.

Rebecca before, who grew up unaware of the world, and the person I am now is a completely different person. But I decided to let Camilla treat me like a fool.

'The more my opponent ignores me and lets his guard down, the more advantageous the fight will be for me.'

I smiled brightly, pretending not to know anything about the world.

"Oh my, futures investing is trendy these days! But is it okay for someone who is sensitive to trends like me to fall behind?"

Camilla glanced back and looked at the Grand Duchess Rebecca. She sat in the middle of the wide Hestia Hall and smiled when her eyes met Camilla's. Camilla responded with a smile with her eyes but mocked her on the inside.

'You invest because you don't want to fall behind the trends.'

They said a lot has changed in the meantime, but it seems like stupid things can't be fixed no matter what Rebecca does?

It was a good thing. Camilla already wanted to somehow ruin Grand Duchess Rebecca's mood, but there was no way to do so.

Isn't she living proof of her affair?

If Rebecca's feelings were to be upset and her husband was told of her affair, her dream of taking his personal property and getting a safe divorce would be in vain. So, Camilla has been holding back until now, pressing down on her boiling insides...

'Oh my God, an opportunity like this is coming?'

It was clear hat if she won this competition and her future profits increased, the Grand Duchess would feel sick to her stomach and not know what to do. Is that it?

If she misses out on the special carriage gift, the Grand Duchess will be itching to invest the funds she has prepared somewhere else.

'At that time, I should pretend to comfort them and recommend something that will  definitely result in a loss.'

Then, it was clear that the Grand Duchess would lose a huge amount of her wealth, and her relationship with the Grand Duke, who had barely recovered, would be jeopardized.

'That stupid woman's nose will become flat again.'

If Rebecca goes and cries and clings to Camilla at that time, will she accept it and pretend that she can't win?

Camilla, who was smiling sinisterly, soon poked Henry's side.

"Why, Camilla?"

"Henry, let me call the final amount."

"...What? Why?"

Before coming here, the two had agreed to combine their investments and sign a futures contract in Henry's name. Henry had to make a tremendous effort to obtain that agreement.

First of all, it was quite a hassle to calm Camilla, who had been upset due to the argument at the previous banquet. But Henry suppressed his anger, thinking only of the outcome. And he tricked her and encouraged her with plausible words.

It's a property she will enjoy together after remarriage anyway, so what does it matter in whose name she gets the benefit?

How dare she try to overthrow the agreement he worked so hard to get in an instant.

A light crack was etched between Henry's eyebrows.

"Camilla, we are on the same team anyway. And this is different from our initial promise."

"After seeing the Grand Duchess, my thoughts changed. I want to beat that woman somehow."

"Anyway, it's like that..."

"Henry. Did you forget that I have a larger share of our Investment?"

Camilla gritted her teeth and secretly glared at Henry. Seeing her harsh gaze, Henry turned his head away with a face that tried to suppress his irritation.

"Damn it, do whatever you want."

Camilla smiled with satisfaction at Henry's words. She knew about the size of Grand Duchess Rebecca's investment in advance when she heard about her investment. Accordingly, she had also saved more money to invest.

'That means that the probability of me losing to that stupid woman in this game today is converging to 0.'

Camilla was raising a slightly early toast in her mind. The bell signaling the start of the trading session rang, and the trading facilitator appeared on stage.

After giving his greetings, he began introducing the items to be traded today.

"This special carriage was made with delicate technology that the imperial court has been devising for several years by bringing together experts from the human world and the demon world..."

It was around the time when the host's presentation was in full swing.

"Ha-am."

A drowsy yawn echoed through the quiet hall. Camilla and Henry simultaneously turned their heads and looked back, looking for the source. Then, Grand Duchess Rebecca, who made eye contact with her, burst into laughter as if she was embarrassed.

"Oh my, what a mistake! I'm a little bored."

Camilla suppressed a burst of laughter and quickly turned her head.

'I knew right away that that stupid archduchess would do that.'

It was a time when Camilla felt sorry for the archduchess and sneered in her heart.

Finally, after introducing the gift, the host went up to the podium and declared in a deep voice.

"Now, let's start trading in earnest!"
