ICTV - Chapter 73

I changed The Villain

“I’m excited and anxious.”

"..."

It would have been better if there had been no back-talk. Belial thought like that and closed his eyes again. How nice it would be if time could stop like this. Then Rose wouldn't lose her will to live, and he would be able to monopolize her forever.

Belial hugged Rose. He never dreamed that living as a good person would be more difficult than living as a strong person.

How did he really end up like this?

There is no need to think deeply. As expected, it will be from then on.

The moment Belial thought that far, Rose spoke.

“We’ve arrived.”

“Already? The problem is that time flies so fast when I’m with you.”

Rose lightly squeezed Belial's arm.

It was over.

“Please stop now.”

Let her go. Something welled up in Belial's chest. Belial hugged Rose even stronger and spoke playfully.

“What if I don’t like it?”

“Please don’t do that and let me go, Baby wolf.”

Immediately his arms felt weak. Rose tickled Belial's chin and then stood up.

“I have to go there.”

"..."

Belial really hates hearing the title “Baby Wolf,” but it’s nice. Belial thought again.

How did he really end up like this?

Even though Belial was in doubt, he steadily helped Rose get off the carriage.

“Did you go to the funeral well?”

As soon as the two came out, Beryl jumped out as if she had been waiting.

Rose nodded.

"Yes, Brother.”

“I had a good time too, older brother."

“Please don’t call me brother, Duke of Serenity.”

Rose untied the bonnet ribbon.

“Anyway, why did you come all the way here to pick us up? You could have waited inside.”

"..."

Beryl suddenly became quiet. Rose looked around Beryl. There needs to be at least one maid attached.

There was no one in sight. If so, maybe...

“Are there any guests?”

“Yes. Mother’s friends.”

“I need to change my clothes right away.”

"Yes. You must be tired from going to the funeral, but let’s go say hello.”

“Brother, go first.”

“Why? Let's go together.”

Go.

Rose showed the miracle of commanding with facial expressions. Beryl had no choice but to do as she was told.

“Come here, Belial.”

Belial approached with a very obedient face.

“Have you remembered anything you want me to do?”

The moment Belial naturally bent down to make eye contact with Rose, Rose's lips unexpectedly touched Belial's cheek. Could it be that she called him here on purpose to do this for him?

It's cute. Still, it was a moment when Belial, who had become quite accustomed to it, tried to smile.

“Thank you, Rose.”

"Now, wait a minute.”

Wasn't this the end?

Belial looked down at Rose, who was holding onto the hem of his clothes. Suddenly, Rose's face turned as red as her own hair. Rose trembled violently, holding the hem of her clothes.

"Rose?"

Belial didn't know what was going on, but she looked really bad. So much so that it wouldn't be surprising if she collapsed right away.

What on earth is going on?

The moment Belial's face became serious, Rose really opened her mouth with difficulty.

“Well, I....”

"Yes?"

Rose pointed to her cheek with difficulty.

“I won’t… ”

No. I can't get there yet...!

I unexpectedly hit the wall with my fist. I decided not to avoid it, but this is still difficult... !

I continued to hit the wall and quickly looked back at Belial.

What do we do? If you think I did something strange...!

But I soon realized that I had been worrying for nothing. This is because Belial was also shaking quite a bit, covering his face with his palms.

Likes. He likes it.

The effort was worth it.

I was relieved. Next time, I have to make sure I finish the line and make Belial happier. That was the moment I thought so.

"Rose."

As soon as I turned my head, a shadow was cast. Belial bowed his head. And then he placed his lips on my lips, not even on my cheek.

The corners of Belial's eyes curved beautifully.

"See you tomorrow."

I nodded while fiddling with my lips. I saw Belial off until the carriage he riding completely disappeared, and then suddenly came to my senses.

"Right. Greeting."

It's rude to make people wait too long. I hurriedly went inside.

Thanks to the maids moving in unison, preparations were able to be completed quickly.

I, wearing a light pink dress and my hair decorated with ribbons of the same color, walked around Beryl, who was waiting in the hallway.

“What were you doing to make your only brother wait this long?”

"Sorry. It was intentional."

“Shouldn’t we call it a mistake?”

"It's not."

“Oh, I love this pumpkin flower.”

Knock knock.

Beryl glanced at Rose and knocked on the door.

“We are here.”

“Okay, come in.”

After Primrose gave permission, the door opened. The two immediately bowed down.

"Long time no see."

“How have you been?”

The noble ladies welcomed the two with bright faces.

“Rose, congratulations on your engagement!”

“Come and sit down! There are a lot of things I want to ask!”

Claudia, who runs the dressing room, was nowhere to be seen. It seems like she couldn't make time because of work.

I glanced at the ladies. There were some familiar faces and some unfamiliar faces. The two sat in the seats reserved for noble ladies.

“I don’t have much time left to have a comfortable conversation with Rose like this. The next time we meet, you will be the hostess of the Serenity duchy.”

Primrose shook her head.

"Don’t get too far ahead of the engagement just yet.”

Why don't you do it?

“What are you talking about? Duke Serenity said he cares about Rose so much. So the marriage is almost confirmed. Anyway, the engagement ceremony is just around the corner. How do you feel? Are you nervous?”

I'm already crazy. I responded succinctly.

"Little bit."

“Only a little? Are you just a little nervous? Our Rose is truly amazing. If it were me, I would have been on the verge of collapse. It's the Duke's family and no other! The Duke family!"

“Beryl, don’t you feel like you should follow your sister’s example? When will you get married? You should marry someone as great as your younger sister while you're at least a year younger.”

"Haha...."

Beryl also smiled heartlessly and started counting the embroidery on the tablecloth. But no one noticed it. This is because the ladies' goal today was Rose.

“Primrose raised her daughter well. After all, there is at least one daughter in the family. They say there has to be something. My husband also spoke as if he were lamenting. I should have had a daughter instead of a son. The atmosphere is gloomy because I only have a son.”

Primrose shook her head.

“What do you mean? It’s the same whether it’s a son or a daughter.”

“You don’t know how it feels to be without a daughter.”

"Yes. Are you saying it’s the leisure of those who have it? My son and daughter are the same."

"How are they the same?"

A noblewoman pointed to Rose.

“Just sitting next to my daughter like that brightens the mood in the room.”

I felt uncomfortable as if a stone had been placed on my chest.

I thought, If you want to brighten up the room, you can redo the interior.

“How gentle and pretty. These days, I'm so envious of people who go shopping with their daughters. My son has no taste for decorating. If I had a daughter, I would pick her a dress every morning and put jewelry on her hair.”

I continued to think. Then, can’t you just buy a doll and clothes that suit your taste and play with the doll? Why would you want to do that to someone?

"That's right. My son said he couldn't do that and felt uncomfortable. At best, if I buy him clothes, he won't even care if it's not his taste. My daughter will never do that.”

Why don't you know that your daughter also has her own thoughts and tastes?

I barely kept the corners of my mouth from lowering. The noble lady spoke dreamily.

“My daughter dressed up beautifully, said, ‘Thank you, Mom. When you say, ‘Dad, I love you.’ If you stand around and joke about it, the fatigue will disappear as if washed away.”

I closed my eyes tightly. It won't work. Once you worry about something, everything else starts to worry too.

I wanted to leave before things got more sensitive, but the ladies didn't seem to have any intention of letting me go.

She started talking while patting my hand.

“Ah, I really envy you, Primrose.”

"Yes. I thought my daughter was not good because I thought she was a different person when she got married, but my thoughts have changed these days.”

“We drank tea together, and we must have looked at other people’s misfortunes to our heart’s content. I heard a daughter listens to her mother’s side so well?”

"..."

I'm out of breath. I want to refute it right away. That's not it. What on earth do you think of your daughter?

But nothing good will come of getting involved in this kind of conversation.

Even if I am like that, what if bad rumors about my mother spread in social circles?

This person is already having a hard time because of memories from when I was young.

I glanced sideways at Beryl. Beryl, who lived with me, who had a far from charming and gentle personality, also had a face that seemed anxious to refute. It's all fortunate that there are people with the same mind.

I took a deep breath. Okay, let's bear with it. I can bear it. That was the moment I thought so.

"...If the..."

Primrose, who had been listening quietly, opened her mouth.

“What if my daughter isn’t cute?”

The mouths of the ladies who were excitedly talking about their daughter's strengths stopped at the same time. The ladies looked at Primrose.

Primrose just made eye contact with them indifferently.

“Hey, what did you just say…”

“Literally. What would you do if your daughter wasn’t cute?”

The frozen ladies tried to calm their expressions and spoke.

“If she doesn’t have it, you have to force her to learn it. How difficult is it for a woman to live without cuteness?”

“If you don’t have cuteness, you can’t receive love from your husband. He'll get tired of it quickly and turn his attention to another woman."

“Really? That’s what you think. Then I have two more questions.”

"...What? Do you have any more questions?"

Primrose nodded and asked the next question.

“What if your daughter doesn’t care about the clothes you chose for her like your son?”

“You know, we really don’t know why you’re asking that all of a sudden.”

But Primrose's questions did not stop.

“What if your daughter doesn’t want to listen to you?”

"..."

"How is it? You’ve never imagined anything like that, have you?”

Primrose picked up her teacup and took a sip of tea.

“If your son did something you would have overlooked and thought, ‘Oh, that’s right, then,’ if your daughter did it, don’t you think you would be very offended and scolded?”

I and Beryl looked blankly at Primrose. Primrose lifted the teacup and lightly pressed her lips.

“Of course, I know. As a parent, I want to teach my children many things and do many things with them.”

“...Yes. We all feel the same way.”

“But you can’t force them to do something they don’t like. There are a lot of things we don’t like after living this long, so how many things do those kids hate?”

The corners of Primrose's mouth rose. Primrose said with a rare, benevolent smile.

“Whether your child is a daughter or a son, don’t just force and expect something from them. Ah, after all, it’s best to raise them freely.”

***

“Are you okay, Mom?”

"Then. Of course, it's okay. Is there any reason not to be okay?”

After the guests left, Primrose ordered the maids to prepare the flower arrangements. Primrose changed into comfortable clothes and stood in front of a table lined with various kinds of flowers.

“If bad rumors spread...”

“Rose. People who have nothing to lose have nothing to fear.”
