ICTV - Chapter 72

I changed The Villain

“Do you think it is right to kill someone who wants to die? Do you think it’s wrong?”

“I don’t think it’s right.”

“I think it’s the right thing to do.”

Conflicting answers emerged simultaneously. Belial looked down at the two men who were kneeling on one knee with their chins resting on their heads.

The two men were identical, from their black hair, and eyes like beans sticking out of a pod, to their slim builds, but their eye color was different. One was cold blue, and the other was hot red.

Among them, Jesien, the man inside the wall, opened his mouth.

“Master, please forgive my brother. We were born and raised by the same mother, but he has been strangely dull ever since he was young.”

The red-eyed man, Chesian, also opened his mouth in a hurry.

“Sir, I am the one who needs to ask for your forgiveness. As he said, we were born and raised by the same mother, but he has not been flexible at all since he was young.”

The two men glared at each other fiercely. As if they resent the fact that a guy like that and him are twins.

Belial shook his head.

"Enough. Tell me why you think so.”

“A person who wants to die has simply temporarily lost the will to live. It is cruel to throw away life because of temporary phenomena. Somehow, we have to give him the will to live again.”

As soon as Jesien finished speaking, Chessien snorted.

"No. Wouldn't the truly cruel thing be to force someone who wants to die to live longer? Even if you create the will to live, how long can that will last? The world is becoming increasingly difficult to live in. Trying to live as long as he can. If you make up your mind and that person is faced with a situation that is several times more difficult, who is responsible? Isn’t it the responsibility of the person who encouraged him to live longer?”

“How can it be his responsibility? He just did the right thing?”

“Don’t you know that unwanted help is just an illusion?”

The twins glared at each other fiercely.

“This guy...!”

“What, did I say something wrong? I'm dissatisfied. Then you just attack me, right? Today is the day to show off your habits...!"

Belial raised his hand. The twins immediately became calm as if they had never been like that before.

"Stop. I have listened to your opinions, so please leave now.”

“Yes. Have a nice night.”

“I’ll come back to you in the morning.”

The twins disappeared at the same time. Belial fell into thought again. He feels that Chessian's opinion is more persuasive.

Losing was inevitable.

'The world is becoming increasingly difficult to live in.

If a person is determined to survive but ends up facing a situation that is several times more difficult, who is responsible?

'Isn't it the responsibility of the person who encouraged me to live longer?'

"..."

Those words automatically reminded him of Rose. These days, Rose comes to see him with a smile on her face. But people cannot live while smiling all the time. Surely one day the smile will disappear from that face and boredom and lethargy will take over.

Just like before, living each day like a dead fish.

At that time, it was obvious who Rose would blame. But it didn't matter. He is a person who has to do whatever it takes to get what he wants to satisfy his instincts, and after working hard for a long time, Rose is finally in his hands.

Belial had no intention of paying any attention to what Rose said or what she felt from now on.

“Duke. It’s time to leave.”

“Has it already been so long?”

Belial stood up. Today was the day of the funeral of Piamond, the Marquis of the Belpar family with whom he often did business. The person who made the correction collapsed overnight from overwork, shocking many people.

“What about Rose?”

“She's waiting in the carriage.”

"..."

In the Avalon Empire, unlike the neighboring country Ravian, neither the dead nor those who came to pay condolences use swords without decoration. The sword must wear silver clothes.

Belial and Rose entered the Belfar family mansion, dressed in the most modest black clothes they owned.

“Thank you for coming. He will be so happy.”

Letna, the hostess of the Belfar family, greeted the two. There were already many people waiting inside. People were busy pounding the bricks.

“He was a terrible old man.”

"He only knows how to save money and how to spend money."

“I didn’t know how.”

Oh, how futile this is.

He just worked hard to save money to rebuild a family that was on the verge of bankruptcy, but people are saying this.

The two looked at the people in silence.

“You just caught that woman, right? I heard that because he died without having time to write a will, all his property, including the mansion, went to her.”

“Life has opened up, really opened up.”

“Please stop.”

"Please stop it."

Belial and Rose spoke at the same time. The two looked at each other for a moment and then looked at the people again. People looked the other way as if they hadn't said anything.

Letna, who returned with the last visitor, was embarrassed to see the extremely quiet room, but was soon relieved that the funeral could be held in a solemn atmosphere.

This was because Piamond valued money more than human relationships and had many enemies.

“Thank you both for coming. You have an engagement ceremony this week, and I thought a lot about whether or not I should invite you to this event.”

Piamond was buried in the front yard of the mansion. After the funeral, Letna called Belial and Rose separately. This time, they both spoke at the same time.

“It doesn’t matter.”

"It does not matter."

A smile appeared on Letna's wrinkled face.

“Thank you so much for coming. You and the Duke are such a good match."

"We've talked to each other several times, and we get along really well. I think our personalities fit well together.”

Letna squeezed Rose's hand.

“I’m sorry I won’t be able to attend the engagement ceremony.”

"No. It's natural that you can't attend. I really don’t know what to say to comfort you.”

"..."

Letna let go of Rose's hand. And then he carefully called Belial.

“Hey, Duke.”

“Yes, Ma’am. Please speak.”

“What kind of person was my husband?”

Letna laughed weakly.

“You are the only person he acknowledges. If you really want to say anything, please say it. Even though he is my husband, there are many things I don’t know.”

Belial answered without hesitation.

“...He was a person who calculated profits and losses thoroughly. When it came to business, he was superior. I was able to learn a lot while working with him.”

“Have you ever hung out with him in private?”

Belial shook his head.

"No. I’ve never met him at a party.”

“… I thought so. He came home like a knife as soon as he finished work every day. Je worked at home, but I felt very relieved just because my husband was at home.”

“According to what I remember, he also hated alcohol very much.”

"That's right. He didn’t even like having a light glass of champagne with a meal.”

The moment Letna let out a low laugh, her body stumbled. A maid standing nearby hurriedly helped Letna up.

“Would you like me to call a doctor, Ma’am?”

"No, it's okay. I'm just dizzy. Duke, Lady Rose.”

Letna is cautiously recommended.

“If it’s okay with you, would you like some tea?”

They both nodded. The maid took the three to the drawing room.

Letna looked out the window. Ilhe saw the blood almond grave that had just been completed today.

“Do you know what the first thing Piamond did when he became the head of the Belfar family?”

“What is it?”

“That was to throw away all the alcohol in the cabinet. The butler, who had been so calm, screamed for the mansion to leave. There was a lot of alcohol that was that precious.”

Piamond's father, Peak, was a tycoon. It is said that even when life was difficult, he saved up to buy expensive alcohol. And the cleanup was completely left to Piamond. Piamond worked hard day and night.

“I found my husband trustworthy. I didn't grow up with responsible parents either. But I guess other people didn't like my husband like that. It's my fault."

Letna said gloomily.

“Somehow my husband attended the party. And, he had to get along with people. How important are human relationships to people? Because of my foolish greed of wanting to stay home with my husband…”

"Ma'am."

As soon as Letna finished speaking, Rose opened her mouth.

“It’s not your fault l, Ma’am.”

"Yes?"

“It’s not his fault either, the Marquis.”

"..."

“It’s strange that people find fault with people because they don’t want to hang out with people.”

Belial also nodded. Rose continued speaking.

“Human relationships are important. But in the end, it’s just someone’s opinion.”

Each person has different thoughts and what they consider important is also different. Piamond just thought that getting home safely was more important than hanging out with the people at the party. No harm was done to anyone else.

However, those people were insulting Letna and the Marquis and causing mental damage.

“Don’t be swayed by what those people say. It only makes you suffer more.”

Letna's body began to tremble slightly.

“But, but I keep having bad thoughts. That person’s death might be my fault.”

"Ma'am. Again, it’s no one’s fault.”

“If I use any means, If I had prevented that person from working, or at least allowed him to meet Lord Cridrian, he would not have died today. I feel so pathetic for not being able to stop that person. I'm his wife."

Rose patted Letna without saying anything.

“Somehow, I can somehow find him...”

Retna, who was trailing off her words, burst into tears.

“Now I am alone. I’m really worried about how I’m going to live alone.”

"..."

“We don’t have any children. If we can't take responsibility for our own future right now, how can we take responsibility for our child's future? We decided to have a baby once the situation became more stable. At the time, I thought my husband was absolutely right, but now I feel a little resentful. Ah, if I had a child, I wouldn’t be alone.”

The two left the mansion only after the sun had set. Letna saw them off with a tear-stained face.

Belial asked in the returning carriage.

“Are you tired?”

“No. What about you?”

“I’m not tired...”

Before Belial finished speaking, Rose raised her arm. Rose let Belial's head rest on her shoulder. Belial leaned against Rose, who was smaller than him and closed his eyes.

It is comfortable. If he marries Rose, he will be able to sleep against her every night.

It is stable just by imagining it.

He wanted to get engaged and get married right away, but realistically, that was impossible. It was when Belial was enjoying Rose's warmth.

“Belial.”

Instead of answering, Belial half-opened his eyes.

“Are you anxious or excited about the future?”

Belial's eyebrows naturally furrowed. This is because as he thought about the future, he began to feel nauseous. But Belial behaved naturally.

“I’m looking forward to it. I'm finally getting engaged to you this week. How about you?"
