SPMB - Chapter 118
My Body Has Been Possessed By Someone
"Are you here?"
Kanna entered Sylvien's office.
"You came a little early. Are you okay?"
Drafting a divorce agreement.
Perhaps because of the excitement the word gave, Kanna arrived about 20 minutes earlier than promised.
"Of course. Please sit down and wait for a moment."
As she sat down on the sofa, a maid came up to her. She was a maid whose name she didn't remember, but her face was familiar.
"Duchess, would you like some tea?"
Impeccable politeness. Kanna couldn't hold back her laughter at that sight.
"Okay."
After a while, the maid brought out steaming hot tea. The moment when a sip flows into her mouth.
"...!"
Salty. Super salty!
Her tongue tingled as if she had drunk seawater.
'They still haven't come to their senses.'
That maid was an employee Kanna knew well. In the meantime, she has offered this kind of tea to Joo-hwa dozens of times.
But Kanna can't believe she's still like this...
'Josephine, it looks like my mother-in-law has regained her lost discipline.'
After all, employees are at their own discretion.
Kanna put down her teacup and glared at the maid.
Will she scold her harshly?
That maid must have done it with some determination...
But suddenly Kanna felt discouraged.
'No matter how much we fight, this will never end.'
Unless Josephine's attitude changes, the employees will also continue to harass Kanna.
So she's really glad. Because she ended up divorcing Sylvien. At that time, Sylvien sat on the sofa across from her.
"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting."
"No. I came early."
"I guess you were so excited."
"Of course."
"I'm glad we were able to live up to expectations."
After saying that, Sylvien handed out a document to Kanna.
"This... ?"
"These are documents that must be submitted to the Imperial Household, the Grand Shrine, and the Supreme Court."
"..."
He must have returned from Palen Island yesterday, so did he prepare this?
'Anyway, a human is like a machine.'
It looked familiar. Sylvien handles the tasks she needs to do quickly and accurately, like a machine. Because she has seen it well during my past marriage.
'You'd rather marry your job, you indifferent man."
Kanna's expression distorted as she looked through several pages of documents.
"What is this?"
"As you can see. You must write grounds for divorce."
"No, but... It says to write your reasons on one full page."
It's not a reflection paper, much less an assignment, but the length is set! However, Sylvien calmly handed over the documents.
"I already wrote everything."
"..."
"What will you do, Miss Kanna? Would you like to write it here and now, or...."
"I'll write it right here, right now."
"Go ahead."
Sylvien held out a fountain pen and ink. The moment Kanna accepted it, his fingertips brushed against hers. It was a cool temperature covered in hard calluses.
'I have so many stories to write.'
Kanna concentrated and wrote on paper.
There were overflowing stories to write about, such as the daughter-in-law's conflict with her mother-in-law, the worst behavior of the employees, her husband's indifference, etc.
Sylvien sat across from her and quietly watched Kanna.
In a room filled with midday light, the sunlight melts into the black hair, making it shine. Her white fingers tangled behind Kanna's ears as her hair fell over her cheek.
A pure white pearl earring dangles from a slightly exposed ear. He couldn't see it.
However, Sylvien, who had considerable knowledge of jewels, could see that it was a treasure of great value.
Sylvien's eyes slowly lowered. He walked past the smooth nape of her neck to her necklace, which was shining with a blue sheen.
It was a necklace he knew. It was recently put up for auction among nobles and was sold for the highest price.
The necklace that had fallen into Kalen Addis' hands was now hanging around Kanna's neck.
Sylvien narrowed her eyebrows.
That's not all. A purple silk dress that not everyone can easily find thanks to the expensive dye, and even platinum bracelets wrapped around slender wrists.
Everything was top-notch.
If worn clumsily, the person would be buried and only the jewelry would be visible. But to Kanna, it was just an accessory that added to the shine. She, K anna, was a woman who overwhelmed all the splendid things.
He knew it wasn't just because of Kanna's good looks.
Sylvien let out a low breath and raised his gaze again. When he gives his attention to her little ears, her hair behind them. Ah, the hair falling out again.
"...?"
Sylvien lowered his head. His fingers were slightly raised. Sylvien was amazed at himself at the destination the hand was aiming for. He calmly lowered his hand onto his lap again.
"Tea."
Feeling thirsty for some reason, he ordered the maid standing next to him. After the maid left she spoke to Kanna.
"You said something weak, but I guess you'll finish it sooner than I thought."
"Right. There are so many stories that have come together."
"Is that so?"
"Honestly, if I put my mind to it, I could write ten more pages."
"..."
"No. What are ten sheets? I could probably use a hundred more. I can't count the reasons why I want to break up with you."
Kanna spoke bluntly and roughly scrawled her fountain pen.
"..."
Then Kanna suddenly realized that the temperature surrounding her had become very cold.
She furtively raised her gaze.
"....What?"
Sylvien was sitting upright, resting his chin and staring at her.
Eyes that don't smile, only the lips were smiling.
"Was your marriage to me that terrible?"
"Are you asking because you really don't know?"
"Yes."
"It was terrible. It was the worst. It was the worst choice of my life."
Kanna spoke calmly in a subdued voice.
"It was hell, Sylvien."
She called his name for the first time.
Yes, it was the first time. And as always, the initial effect was great. Sylvien's eyes hardened for an instant.
Sylvien. The name Kanna pronounced had a very pleasant sound. At the same time, he fully realized it.
Kanna is sincere.
Sylvien was about to say something but closed his lips again. He just couldn't even guess what he was trying to say. He quietly looked at the unidentifiable foreign substance, the rough sand-like emotion that entered his heart. And he was quick to notice.
It was unpleasant.
"We got married because you wanted to."
Kanna sincerely wants a divorce.
"Are you sure you were expecting a life like that of couples who were made in love?"
"I thought you would treat me like a human being."
"You are?"
"Yes?"
"Did you treat me like a human being?"
Sylvien smiled coldly and continued.
"I thought I was just a rope to save your life."
Kanna bit her lip and glared at him. To her chagrin, she could somewhat understand why he spoke like that.
Joo-hwa's love was blind. She was so blind that she saw nothing but her own love. Her own passion was more important to her than Sylvien's feelings or opinions.
They were originally in a contractual relationship, but the Joo-hwa changed the story. She asked for more than that.
Very persistently, for 7 years.
Joo-hwa may not have been the only thing that suffered during those years. Sylvien probably wasn't happy either.
Kanna had no intention of defending Joo-hwa on that matter. If he said he didn't want to, he should have backed out.
'From Sylvien's perspective, it would have been like having a stalker living in the house."
So does that mean there is nothing wrong with Sylvien? A sneer passed through Kanna's lips.
"So you ignored me? You don't care if I die or not?"
Joo-hwa was abused in this mansion. So she clung to Sylvien even more. Because she believed that it was Sylvien who would save her from abuse.
In fact, if Sylvien had paid just a little bit of attention to Joo-hwa, she wouldn't have suffered so much.
"With or without love, you are my husband. I am your wife. So, you should have done the minimum humane thing."
There is no justification for allowing a wife to be beaten by her mother-in-law and harassed by maids.
"You didn't care if I died, did you?"
At that time, she was thrown into the room alone with her calf almost torn. If left alone, she could have really died.
"Whether our relationship was good or bad, you were my husband. I came to this house trusting only in you. So at least you shouldn't have left me to die."
Resentment boiled in Kanna's heart. The memory of the Joo-hwa and the emotion of the Joo-hwa are so vivid that she can almost touch them.
The hardships she experienced with her own body, the loneliness that seemed to turn her back, seemed like Kanna's at this moment.
"Was it a rope for salvation?"
It makes her laugh.
"Of course. Because I was in hell. And with just one wave of your hand, I could have gotten out of hell."
A person boiling in hellfire looks up to heaven and prays for salvation. Was it such a big sin?
But for herself and for Joo-hwa, there is no such savior!
All they had to do was save themself.
That time, Joo-hwa was a young seventeen-year-old girl who fell into hell during the time of the storm. She was a teenager and she had just entered high school. The villains surrounding her are monsters who kill people and don't even bat an eye, so how can she withstand them?
Poor Joo-hwa. Unlucky Joo-hwa.
After all, Kanna was separated from her difficult life. Joo-hwa took on the pain she had to go through.
At that moment, Kanna felt sorry for her and couldn't bear it.
Kanna immersed herself in Joo-hwa's warm home and enjoyed the sunshine to her heart's content. She absorbed the good nutrients and blossomed into the person she is now. Grown-up.
But what about Joo-hwa during that time?
In an unfamiliar world without a mother or father, Joo-hwa's side must have been full of poison. She lived only breathing air polluted with all kinds of poisonous gases.
It was an environment that could not help but be destroyed.
"My pain must have seemed insignificant to you."
For some reason, the corners of her eyes turned red.
"Because you are a person who does big things. The great man who protected the West Continent from the black fog and slaughtered monsters must have suffered the same bullying and pain that a woman like me experienced in this beautiful mansion."
There is no such thing as small pain in this world. Although it seemed insignificant in his eyes, it was a pain that shook the world to Joo-hwa.
"That's right. To me, you were a savior. You have been neglecting me all this time, but you have been a savior to me."
The sharp emotions of regret and sympathy for the Joo-hwa tore Kanna's heart to pieces. It hurt. It hurts so much that she cries.
Tuk.
Tears fell down her cheeks.
"Because I loved you. I meant it. I endured it with that love. I didn't want to die because I loved you."
Maybe today he will look back at her, maybe he will call her by name, maybe he will smile kindly.
Funny enough, that foolish expectation kept the Joo-hwa alive.
So she couldn't give up on that love. Because the moment she throws it away, there will be no hope or light in her life.
Without that love, Joo-hwa would have made the same choice as she did before. She must have hoped to escape this horrible life with death.
As the pain Joo-hwa felt in her body poured out, each cell responded. Kanna screamed.
"So don't distort the feelings I had. Because I truly loved you."
Kanna closed her eyes tightly. Her heated breath wheezed. She felt another tear fall, so she quickly swiped it away with her hand.
"I know you're sick of me. You must have had a hard time too. How terrible must it have been that I kept approaching you even though you said no?"
Kanna opened her closed eyes.
"We had a bad relationship with each other."
Kanna looked at Sylvien. He looked speechless.
"So let's end it now."
Ooooooo take that Sylvien!

ReplyDeletefixed! sorry for your inconvenience.
DeleteI feel bad because I had judged JooHwa for how she acted while she was in Kanna's body. She was suddenly thrust into an unfamiliar world with people around her trying to break her down just because they could. I really teared up reading the last parts of this chapter.
