IDMH - Chapter 42
I Decided My Husband
Adele told Perdes that she would provide a guide and escort driver tomorrow as promised, so he could go see the estate.
Then, when Adele personally showed him a tour of the estate, Perdes refused because he felt cold.
He thought it would be perfect to tour the estate with a guide after visiting with Adele first.
By the way, that man didn't know about Adele's plan.
He thought Ilhe knew it, but it was surprising.
In fact, he didn't tell Jack about Adele's plans, so it was right for him not to tell the escort driver either.
In other words, she and he were the only ones sharing this great secret, which made Perdes very happy.
"You seem to be in a good mood, Your Highness."
Jack, who came with Perdes' snacks, found him sitting on the sofa and smiling and asked.
"I thought you were going to see the Lady earlier. Did anything pleasant happen there?"
"What feels good?"
Perdes answered indifferently as if asking when he had laughed and picked up a cookie.
Cookies made from grains had little sweetness.
"It actually became a nuisance."
"Why?"
"I need to get an education."
What Perdes had to learn from now on was not only the basic knowledge of nobles such as ballroom dancing and etiquette, but also basic subjects such as arithmetic and literature, administration and finance, legal affairs, and trade.
Since he had become the fiancé of Duke Leopold's daughter, he fully understood the need to learn the basics of a nobleman.
He could understand learning basic subjects like arithmetic and literature to avoid appearing ignorant, but he couldn't understand anything eIse. That's because it was usually learned by those who managed fiefdoms or families or became central officials.
It was a field of no use to him as he would become a wanderer traveling the continent once Adele's revenge was over.
'Are you simply doing this to deceive the eyes of those around you?'
There were many nobles who questioned the fact that Adele chose Perdes, who was half a penny and an idiot, over other Princes. Some people had no doubt that Adele must have chosen Perdes for a different purpose. So it could have been that he was trying to teach Perdes all these things in order to deceive them.
In this way, Adele can show her intention to make Perdes Duke Leopold later.
"Wow, education."
After hearing Perdes' story, Jack was amazed, clasping his hands together like a girl.
"It seems like the Lady really cares about you."
"What makes you think she cares about me?"
"Everything! From bringing you out of the imperial palace to personally taking care of ensuring that you were treated properly as the Young Lady's fiancé, she did it all out of consideration for Your Highness."
That's not it, it's for revenge on that woman. Perdes swallowed the words he couldn't say with his tea.
"I'm really glad that Your Highness seems to have opened up his heart to her"
"Cough-"
At Jack's added words, the tea that had been going down Perdes's throat flowed back up again.
Perdes wiped the protruding residue with the back of his hand and glared at Jack.
"What kind of nonsense is that? I opened her heart wide to that girl?"
"Is not it?"
"No."
He opened his heart a little, but it wasn't wide open.
"Yeah, no."
There is no way he would open his heart to that woman. So it would definitely not be the case.
Perdes muttered to himself for a long time, as if he was hypnotizing himself.

As tried to finish the work I had to do until the day I was supposed to give Perdes a tour of the estate, I had no choice but to overdo it.
"It's good to work hard, but I think it would be better to take a little rest, Young Lady."
Even on the appointed day, I woke up early in the morning and held on to the documents, and Hannes felt very sad and put down his teacup.
It was a tea that helped me recover from fatigue.
I drank tea instead of saying empty things. As I drank the warm tea, the fatigue on my body seemed to melt away like snow.
"Are you going out with Perdes today?"
"Huh."
It was not surprising that Hannes, the general butler, knew my schedule. But not His Highness the Prince, but Master Perdes?
"Are you calling His Majesty's name?"
"Perdes asked me to do so, saying that this is better than the stiff title Prince Highness."
"Okay?"
It seems like he gets along well with his users. I was worried, but I was glad.
'But why can't he get along with Sir Aldor?'
Suddenly, I remembered the fight between Sir Aldor and Perdes and wrinkled my nose. Please don't fight like that during class.
"When are you leaving?"
I wasn't asking because I didn't know, but to confirm.
"I'm going to go out around 1 o'clock and have lunch there."
Hannes, who knew what I was talking about, laughed.
"I heard that the owner of the place is already anxiously waiting for you to come, so I'm sure he will like it."
"Then I'm glad."
When I put down my empty teacup, Harness filled it.
"This."
As soon as Hannes put down the teapot, he held out a document.
"Tell this to the person in charge of managing transactions with Max Merchant."
The Max Merchant Marine was one of the merchants trading with Duke Leopold's family and was run by the Empress's maternal family.
Hannes, who had skimmed through the front of the document, asked me in surprise.
"Miss, are you really going to do it like this?"
"Yes."
"There will definitely be a backlash. They may take revenge."
"I'm not scared at all, so if you want to do it, just do it."
Max Merchant's Shop was an unremarkable place, except that it was run by the Empress's maternal family. Even though I struggled to protest in a place like that, it wasn't scary at all.
"Miss..."
Hannes called me worriedly as if he didn't think so.
"It's okay. I wrote down a valid reason, and the Empress will know why I'm doing this, so you don't have to worry."
Yes, of course, a perspicacious Empress would know. I'm doing this because Chernosor slapped Perdes.
When I was in the imperial palace, I had no way to avenge the incident, so I just stayed quiet and had no intention of letting it go.
I had to give back more than what I received to calm my temper, so I continued without giving up despite Hannes' concerns.

"..."
Perdes' expression as he looked at the clothes lined up on the bed was more serious than ever.
After the engagement with Adele was confirmed. The Empress belatedly gave me various things to save face, so he had more clothes and accessories, but when he tried to wear them, there was nothing worth wearing. This one was too flashy, that one was too plain.
What he thought was okay, was that it was too thin or too thick to wear in the current season.
"What do you do if you have a lot of clothes?"
It's all different. Perdes, who was grumbling, looked back in surprise when he heard the sound of the door opening.
"Why are you so surprised, Your Highness?"
It was Jack. Perdes was relieved when he saw him, but at the same time, he was depressed and answered curtly.
"Because you opened the door and came in without knocking."
"This isn't the first time I've come in without knocking."
"That's the problem. And when I told you to call me Perdes, why do you keep calling me Your Highness?"
"Oh, I'm sorry. It was because the title 'His Highness' stuck in my mouth."
Jack, who was apologizing that he would never do that again, landed on the clothes scattered on the bed.
"What is all that?"
Perdes also answered while looking at the clothes.
"You wouldn't know it if you saw it? It's clothes."
"Who is asking because they don't know that? Why did you take out all your clothes?"
"I was planning to go out with her today, but I was having trouble knowing what to wear."
There was silence for a moment. Jack, who was looking at Perdes with a half-fazed expression, soon came to his senses and stammered back.
"So, you're going on a date with the Lady today?"
"It's not a date, it's a night out."
"That's a date!"
The raised voice resonated loudly throughout the room. Perdes was so surprised that he looked back at him.
"Oh my God, this is crazy. You're telling me such an important fact now!"
Jack muttered to himself, stamped his feet, and suddenly ran outside.
"It's here, here!"
After a while, Jack returned and was not alone.
"I heard you're going out on a date with a Young Lady?"
"Oh, if you had told me in advance, I would have prepared something better."
"Bring me a box of brooches!"
The maids who came with Jack started bustling around and decorating Perdes.
He changed into clothes he didn't know where Jack got them from and put on a brooch. In the meantime, Jack tidied up his shaggy hair and applied something unknown to his face.
Perdes stayed still as they asked, like a tree branch swept away by waves.
How much time has passed?
Knock-
"Mr. Perdes, the Lady is waiting in the hall."
A servant sent by Adele announced that the appointment time was almost over.
"Oh my, it's already that time."
"That's it, have a nice date with the Lady!"
"For a moment... !"
With the maids pushing his back, Perdes was unable to see how his appearance had changed and had to go to the hall where Adele was waiting.
"Wait!"
As they were passing through the long hallway and heading towards the central staircase, Jack, who had hurriedly followed, placed something in Perdes' hand.
It was a leather pouch. There were several gold coins inside.
"It's our first official date. Why don't you buy her a gift?"
"... It's okay."
It would be a lie if he said he wasn't tempted, but he couldn't accept the salary Jack received because he knew it was money saved frugally.
Perdes tried to return the leather pouch, but Jack wouldn't take it.
"I'm fine, so make sure to buy her a gift!"
"For a moment..."
As Jack quickly ran away, Perdes missed the timing to return the leat his pouch and looked down at the pouch with a smile.
Jack was grateful, but no matter how much he thought about it, he couldn't spend this money.
So, thinking that he should return it later, Perdes resumed his steps after stopping for a moment.
