IDMH - Chapter 40
I Decided My Husband
After taking care of urgent work and sleeping well, my head was clear, but my body was still tired. To be exact, it was pouty. I wanted to warm up my body by doing some moderate exercise.
For example, swinging a sword.
"If you want to do it, you can do it."
I took the sword I received from Count Martina and headed to the personal training ground.
Usually, the training ground was built near the knights' quarters. My father's personal training center was also there. But my personal training ground was inside the garden.
To hide my sword training, my father deliberately created a training range in the garden.
When I was young and didn't know anything, I was very happy that there was a training center nearby. I also liked the fact that there was a secret training center that no one else knew about.
When I think about it now, my father laughed bitterly when he saw me like that. Why did I think I was laughing because I liked that smile?
I took out the straw doll I had hidden in the bushes, set it up, and took out the sword I had received from Count Martina from its sheath. Perhaps because it was the sword used by Count Martina, the handle had many traces of age, but the blade looked like new.
This meant that the Count managed it with great care.
I left it for over a month, so I feel a little sorry.
I swung my sword, thinking that I should take better care of it from now on. The straw doll was knocked over by the sharp blade.
When I cut down about four straw dolls, I felt someone's presence coming from the direction of the garden entrance.
"Miss?"
It was Sir Aldor.
He paused as if surprised to see me holding a real sword, then nodded when he saw the straw doll lyin g down.
"You were training."
"Yes. Sir Aldor, what are you doing here?"
"I heard a sound like a sword being swung in the garden, so I came to see what had happened."
"Did you hear this? Amazing."
When I expressed my sincere admiration, Sir Aldor made a puzzled face.
"Then why were you swinging the real sword dangerously?"
"Because a real sword relieves stress better than a wooden sword. Still, it doesn't go as well as when we spar."
As I muttered a little regretfully, Sir Aldor made an unexpected suggestion.
"Would you like to spar with me?"
"Yes. I have wanted to cross swords with you ever since you successfully defeated Pushik. Just me and with Sir Aldor?"
Is this the blood-boiling heart of the knight I only heard about?
It was a little surprising. Because Sir Aldor in her second life did not challenge me to spar even though he knew I was good with a sword.
"Great."
But why are you applying now?
Is it because I was a wife back then?
I don't know why, but I also wanted to spar, so I readily agreed.
"But do you also do sparring with real swords?"
***
"Your Highness, is it okay to just walk around like this without getting permission from the Lady?"
"I already got permission. She said I could roam around as I pleased, except in the basement."
"Still, the garden is an extremely private space. I think we need to get separate permission here..."
Taaak-
“Hyaat.”
Perdes hit Jack on the forehead when he continued to make noise.
"How many times do I say I have permission? If you keep making noise, I'll leave you behind."
Jack immediately closed his mouth at those words.
Now he can quietly enjoy the view of the garden. Perdes smiled with satisfaction and looked around the garden.
Although it was not as large or as splendid as the palace garden, it was a beautiful garden with its own charm.
Je especially liked how it felt like people really cared for it.
Taang-
Perdes, who was looking around the garden with great satisfaction, turned his head in that direction when he heard a dull sound from somewhere.
"What does this mean?"
Jack, who also heard the hitting sound, asked. Instead of answering, Perdes walked toward the sound of the blow.
As he passed through the lush green road and went inside, he came across a place that looked like a large vacant lot.
Taang, tang-
There, a man and a woman were crossing swords. It was Adele and Aldor.
Perdes had heard rumors that Adele knew how to use a sword, but this was his first time seeing her in person.
Perdes didn't know much about swordsmanship, but he could tell that Adele's skills were top-notch.
"Wow. She's really good at wielding a sword."
It was the same for Jack too.
Adel attacked Aldor, swinging her sword so fast that it was difficult to follow with his own two eyes.
Tang, Taang-
Every time a heavy-hitting sound rang out, Adele's eyes sparkled like stars.
Vibrant. Vigor.
All of these expressions suited Adele well now. Adele looked that happy. It was the same for Aldor.
His lips, which did not smile often, drew a smooth line, making Perees wonder if his lip muscles were stiff.
Perdes was very annoyed by Aldor's expression. It's so annoying that be want to get in between them right now and interrupt them.
But there was no reason for that.
Adele looks so happy. Also, he doesn't understand why he wants to separate those two people.
Perdes stared at the two people and then turned around without doing anything.
***
Hannes and other servants didn't say anything about my marriage to Perdes, but neither were the family vassals.
"Why did you choose such a person, Young Lady?"
"I'm glad it's an engagement and not a marriage. Please consider it seriously when you get married."
"He's right. I hope you will carefully consider the fact that your spouse will soon become His Excellency Duke Leopold."
This is different from Chernosor. At that time, everyone welcomed us with open arms.
"But since he has become the Young Lady's fiancé, I think he should have the appropriate dignity."
"I also think the same way. Stuttering is unavoidable, but his behavior and common sense should at least be at an acceptable level."
Therefore, the vassals unanimously said that Perdes should be given a teacher. That was something I also agreed with.
But soon we ran into a big problem.
"Considering your condition, I think this level of education is appropriate, Young Lady lady."
The point was that people thought Perdes was a real idiot. As I asked, Perdes acted like an idiot in front of people. Of course, I did very poorly on the general knowledge test as well, befitting the name Idiot.
After seeing the test results, Hanness naturally introduced a training course for 5-year-olds.
'What should I do?'
I was worried that if I raised the level further than this, it would be discovered that Perdes was not an idiot.
It was okay to be caught by the Duke's people. The problem was that the fact could reach the Emperor's ears.
However, I couldn't give him a low-level education like I did in the imperial palace because of the work I would ask him to do in the future.
'I guess I'll have to ask the loud-mouthed person for his education.'
Even if they knew that Perdes was not an idiot, who would trust him and never reveal it to the public?
My distrust of people was so deep that in my third life, I was poisoned to death by a maid I trusted. I couldn't believe it unless it was Hannes or Sir Aldor.
Ah, I think Sir Aldor would be a good teacher for Perdes. Originally, I was going to send Sir Aldor out when I returned to the territory, but it seemed like I would have to change my plan a bit.
"Call Sir Aldor."
Before that, I had to ask Sir Aldor what he wanted, so I called him.
While I was looking at the documents and waiting for him to arrive, there was a guest who arrived first.
"Are you busy?"
It was Perdes.
After confirming that there was no one in the office other than me, he immediately took off his idiot mask.
"You seem very busy?"
"Little bit. What's going on?"
"It's already been a week since you came to the duchy."
Has time already passed like that?
I checked my desk calendar out of the corner of my eye. Just as he said, a week has passed. Then you will receive a reply from there soon. There should be a positive answer.
"I guess the search for the Duke's residence is over, now I want to take a quick look around the estate."
"Did you see all the outbuildings?"
"Huh. I saw everything except the basement, which the Young Lady told me not to go to."
In addition to the main building, Duke Leopold's residence had seven other buildings. Adding the greenhouse to the garden, was quite spacious, although not as large as the imperial palace.
But he already saw it all. He must have been moving around diligently.
"Is it so. I will prepare a guide and escort knight so you can tour the manor starting tomorrow."
"I can walk around alone without that."
"It can be dangerous, so no."
Perdes furrowed his eyebrows as if he didn't like it, but he didn't show any needless stubbornness.
"Then, with that in mind, I'll just leave."
When Perdes opened the door to go out, Sir Aldor was standing outside. The two people suddenly stopped as if they were surprised when they saw each other.
"If you're here, come in."
After hearing my words, Sir Aldor bowed to Perdes and came inside. I thought Perdes would just leave, but for some reason, instead of leaving, he closed the door and came back.
"Weren't you leaving?"
"I was going to do that, but somehow I thought I would tell my story. To listen together."
"How did you know that?"
I never said anything?
When I asked in surprise, Perdes smiled, lifting the corners of his lips.
"I just took a stab at it, but I guess it was real."
"You have a good sense of touch."
"So, you've survived all this time in that hellish imperial palace?"
Well, that's true.
He looked at Lord Aldor in agreement.
He was looking at Perdes with a somewhat uncomfortable expression.
