IDMH - Chapter 31

I Decided My Husband

He was hit so hard that Perdes was unable to stand upright and stumbled and fell.

"Your Highness !"

I screamed desperately and supported Perdes. Chernosor was taken aback by the unexpected situation and took a step back.

Sir Aldor must have heard me yelling and opened the door without knocking. With my eyes fixed on Perdes, I ordered Sir Aldor.

"I heard that His Highness the Second Prince is leaving, so please see him off, Sir Aldor."

Chernosor left without a word, perhaps because he still had a shred of conscience left, or because he decided it was better to get out of this situation.

I asked the maid to bring me a cold wet towel, then examined Perdes' cheek. Perdes' cheek was swollen so bright red that anyone could tell he had been hit.

There was also a long scratch that appeared to have been scratched by the ring Chernosor was wearing. At least my clean skin was worth seeing, but what a disaster this is.

I was angry and upset.

As I wiped the blood from the cut with my sleeve, he tilted his head back slightly.

"Your clothes are dirty."

"Is it a problem that my clothes get dirty now?"

As he got farther away, I got closer.

"Stay still."

I didn't care if my sleeves got dirty, I wiped the blood off and then applied the cold wet towel the maid brought to my cheeks. Perdes frowned and muttered.

"It's cold."

So I tried to say why he came forward, but it happened because of me, I thought that wasn't what he was saying, so I calmed down.

"There was no need for His Highness to step forward."

"Then you are a Young Lady lady."

"It was better if I got hit."

That way, I would have been able to return more than what I received from Chernosor.

"If that's what the Lady thinks, there's nothing we can do about it."

I was going to tell him not to come forward again, but Perdes said.

"I think it's right for me to get hit instead."

The golden eyes that were staring at the floor captured my image.

"Even if it's only in name..."

He muttered in a voice so low that only I could hear, and the corners of his lips slightly turned up, drawing a faint smile.

"Because I am the Young Lady's fiancé. A fiancé has to protect his fiancée."

"...!"

"That's right."

I was speechless as if someone had grabbed my throat. I couldn't say anything.

"..."

All I could do now was put a cold wet towel on his cheek.

***

As soon as his engagement to AdeIe was the same for Jack. He was decided, and Perdes moved from the stablekeeper's quarters to the Spring Palace.

Just a few days ago, Jack was a lowly stable keeper, but now he was serving as the Prince's personal servant.

The Emperor gave Perdes a personal attendant and a teacher to teach him simple things such as imperial etiquette and history.

Considering that Perdes had never received a proper education and that he was an idiot, his level of education was very low.

In fact, it was at a level that Perdes with normal intelligence could learn everything in one hour.

"Uh, uh, difficult."

However, an idiot would not have understood, so Perdes always pretended not to know.

The young 7th Prince, who was not yet 10 years old, also received a higher level of education than this.

So, no matter how idiotic he was, it seemed absurd that Perdes, who was 16 years old, could not keep up, but the teacher showed no such sign at all.

It seemed like he didn't expect him to understand in the first place.

In the midst of all this, there was something he emphasized to Perdes that he must know: the Emperor's full name and the attitude he should have.

"Your Highness the Prince is Your Majesty's son and a citizen of the Empire, so you must remain loyal to His Majesty the Emperor no matter what."

"Uh, huh."

"If you understand what I mean, repeat it 10 times."

The teacher had us repeat this mindset 10 times at the beginning and end of training.

He thinks this is ideological education, not Prince education.

Even though Perdes thought he was doing all sorts of crazy things on the inside, on the outside he faithfully followed the teacher's instructions.

The training period was 2 hours, and the teacher quickly finished the class and left after 2 hours.

It was the same today. When his teaching was over and the teacher left, Perdes lay down on his sofa to stretch out.

Jack asked Perdes as he cleared the table.

"Are you having a hard time?"

"Huh."

It was easy to act like an idiot or lie and say you didn't know what you knew, but the damn ideological education was really hard.

Every time Perdes said that he would be loyal to the Emperor, he felt a deep sense of self-destruction, wondering why he had to do this.

"Maybe I shouldn't have held that woman's hand...."

"Yes? What did you just say?"

"Nothing"

It wasn't that he didn't trust Jack. He couldn't say more because he actually trusted him.

This is because Jack's mouth dropped from pure joy, saying that he finally found happiness.

Moreover, Perdes had no intention of taking Jack to the Duchy of Leopold. He had been having a very hard time because of him, but he didn't want to take him that far away and make him suffer.

So Perdes turned around, thinking it was better for Jack not to know. Jack, who glanced at Perdes' back, suggested.

"If you're not feeling well, how about going to see the Lady?"

Only then did Perdes look back at Jack.

"Why is that story coming out all of a sudden? I'm in a bad mood..."

Perdes, who almost said 'that woman' out of habit, paused for a moment and then corrected himself.

"What does this have to do with going to see Lady Leopold?"

"Well, Your Highness is always in a good mood when you see her."

"I've never done that before?"

"That's right."

"I said there isn't one."

"Because you said so."

"Ah, that's enough. Let's not talk."

When Perdes waved his hand in annoyance and turned his head. Jack

"This is why you haven't been looking for Your Highness lately."

This is some kind of bullshit again.

Perdes turned his head violently enough to make a sound and looked at Jack again. Jack continued speaking with a face full of worry.

"Please, don't complain to the Lady and be nice to her. She is the benefactor who saved Your Highness from this hellish place."

What can she do to save him? They joined hands to meet each other's needs.

Words he couldn't say lingered in his mouth and then disappeared.

And the reason Adele hasn't been looking for Perdes recently isn't because he grumbles or anything, but because she's conscious of other people's gazes.

The last time Perdes met Adele was the day Chernosor came to visit. Just before breaking up, Adele said this to Perdes.

"It's good if the relationship is good, but if the relationship is too good, the Emperor won't have time to dig in, so I think it's better not to meet until the engagement ceremony."

"A gap for the Emperor to dig into?"

"Yes. The Emperor will probably visit His Highness the day before the engagement ceremony. Then, Your Majesty, then..."

Knock.

Perdes woke up from an afterimage of the past at the sudden sound of a knock and looked at the door. The person who knocked on the door was a personal servant. He was the only servant to talk, but he did very little.

Occasionally, all he would do was come to convey the words of the Emperor, Empress, or someone in the royal family.

In other words, the fact that he came in means that he came to deliver someone's message.

The personal servant bowed his head slightly and explained why he had come in.

"His Majesty the Emperor is looking for you, Your Highness."

Tomorrow was Perdes and Adele's engagement ceremony.

'But the emperor is looking for me.'

Ever since Perdes became engaged to Adele, the Emperor has not visited him even once. Although he often spoke to him through his personal attendant, he was never called.

However, it was surprising that the Emperor was looking for him, and that he was looking for him on the exact day Adele had expected. Is this just a coincidence?

"Please go, Your Highness."

 "... Okay."

Perdes swallowed his uneasy feeling and followed his personal attendant to the Emperor's palace.

All the way to the Emperor's palace, the attendant kept talking about what to do when he met the Emperor.

He told Perdes what a scary person he was and what would happen if he made a mistake, and threatened him to do well and not make mistakes.

"Do you understand what I'm saying?"

"Yes."

"Ugh, I didn't understand a thing."

The attendant clicked his tongue and shook his head as if he was extremely frustrated. Meanwhile, they arrived at the drawing room where the Emperor was waiting.

The servant guarding the front reported to the Emperor that Perdes had arrived.

Perdes has only seen the Emperor twice in his life.

The first was in the throne room when Adele chose him as her husband, and the second was right now.

Maybe it was because it was his second time, but he wasn't as nervous as he was when he first saw him.

It also played a role in the fact that the Emperor emperor was not as scary as people made him out to be.

His expression, his eyes, and the spirit he exuded were definitely unusual, but he didn't feel so scared that his legs were shaking.

He almost thought that if he just let him be an enemy, he would be a very tiring opponent.

As soon as Perdes entered the drawing room, he greeted him formally.

"I see you, Your Majesty."

Although he stuttered, his posture was perfect. There was no flaw. Daimon's eyes as he looked at Perdes changed significantly.

"It's not that it's completely lacking."

Daimon muttered to himself and motioned for Perdes to come closer. As Perdes approached, Daimon looked him up and down and then asked something out of the blue.

"What is my name?"

Even if the Emperor asked, it was quite disrespectful to say the Emperor's name carelessly.

"This is Daimon de Vin, Vincent Athanasius."

But Perdes stuttered and said Daimon's name.

"Where is the capital of the empire?"

"How many kingdoms does the Allied Powers consist of?"

"What is the name of the Pope of the Holy Kingdom?"

Instead of showing off his displeasure, Daimon raised his lips smoothly and asked various questions as if he was interested.

Most of them were things the teacher taught him.

Perdes knew all the answers, but because he had to act like an idiot, he pretended not to know some of them or answered them incorrectly.

"Hmm."

Daimon, who finally finished asking the question, stroked his chin and was deep in thought.

As Perdes stood in front of him with his head bowed, he recalled the last conversation he had with Adele.
