IDEFYEM - Chapter 43

Black Man, I'll Do Everything For You Except Marriage!

"I didn't tell you to call me in a situation like this."

Vermont said in a shaky voice.

"I know you don't think very well of Kael, but it's an urgent situation."

I explained that I could never understand Vermont's feelings of unreasonable hostility towards him.

From the many times we overcame crises, to the fact that Kael's body is becoming increasingly weaker due to the curse.

"In the evening, he has to carry out his duties to appear before the royal family. If he doesn't wake up like this, he'll be in trouble."

"..."

"It's not like there's no way, right?"

I asked anxiously, looking at the cat that didn't open its mouth for some reason.

"It's not like I've been taking my time. Removing the curse is the owner's top priority, so I looked into it on my own."

Then the cat answered quite reliably.

I sighed inwardly and muttered. I thought there would be a time limit on summoning a familiar.

"Looking at you taking your time like this, I guess he can stay for quite a long time."

"No, that's not it."

"What?"

"Time is 30... There's a little bit left."

"30 minutes?"

“29... 28... 27....”

I opened my mouth wide in bewilderment and then screamed in shock.

"Then move quickly!"

The cat grumbled and jumped on top of Kael, who was lying on the bed.

It pushed its furry paws around and pointed to a place.

"For some reason, your magic power doesn't match well with this guy."

"What are you talking about?"

"In other words, you could say it's good. I would say my senses are more sensitive."

"Explain it so I can understand!"

The cat sighed one last time and spoke as if he really didn't feel like it."

"In other words, it responds easily to your magical power. Even a small amount can have a profound impact."

"Why is that?"

As soon as I asked, the cat's appearance faded away.

I stretched out my hand and said, "Oh," to the point where I couldn't even touch it.

"You don't need to know that right away... The important thing is how to shock."

"So, so?"

"I think it's like pressing down on his chest with magical power. Then he will wake up."

Pop!

With a loud sound, Vermont's appearance disappeared as if everything that had just happened was a dream.

I almost got a little confused, but then quickly came to my senses. After a few days of dramatic experiences, my sense of reality became dull.

Since I knew the method, I thought the first thing to do was to try it.

First, I took a deep breath and brought up the magic power in my body as if it were spinning.

And I focused my attention on the area of Kael's chest that Vermont had pointed to.

If he had a heart, I felt like I was helping it beat. With no one by my side to guide me, I felt like I was pouring water into a bottomless pot.

I repeated that action several times with a helpless feeling. Suddenly, Kael's lips twitched.

"Wow, are you coming to your senses?"

He coughed up a dry cough, just like me who fell into the water and was rescued.

Then, only after I shocked it with magic a few times did he open his eyelids.

A low question escaped my lips.

"Ah, who is this...."

I felt like my heart was sinking. All of the poisonous plants remaining in your body should have been detoxified by now.

"Do you not know me?"

"You are the winner of this hunting banquet. It is truly an honor to meet you."

The man who finished his sentence smoothly smiled even with a slightly gaunt face. I was dumbfounded for a moment and then hit him in the chest with my clenched fist.

He held back his laughter and hugged me tightly. My face almost got hot for a moment, so I had to control my mind.

'It must be a relief, Enrica!!'

But even after that, he didn't easily let go of his arms around me. In that state, he just turned around, made eye contact with me, and lay down next to me.

"Are you sure it's okay?"

"No problem. It was really dangerous this time."

His eyebrows narrowed slightly and his voice sighed as if he sensed a headache.

"What time is it now?"

"Uh, around two or three o'clock... Shall I fetch Meluana or Bacchus?"

"No, I will stay like this a little longer."

Completely defenseless, he buried his head in the blanket and muttered. It was a voice that exuded loose composure.

Then he suddenly raised his head, made eye contact, and spoke.

"It's late, but congratulations, Enri."

He added it again to me who was confused.

"I mean, winning the banquet."

As I was about to smile and move on, a story I had to tell him came to mind.

"That's right, the Archduke offere d me game!"

I thought Kael wouldn't have expected it, even in his wildest dreams.

Unexpectedly, he seemed to be observing my expression calmly rather than being surprised.

"I thought you were upset, but you don't seem as upset as before."

"What does that mean?"

"I thought you must have been scared, saying you were being threatened."

Oh my, did I do that?

Now that I think about it, the fear of my life being threatened like last time seems to have subsided. Although I thought it was a clear threat.

Still, it wasn't that scary to feel.

I seriously thought about the differences between the original and now.

The female lead, Sophia, offered prey to me, an extra. Rather than siding with the Grand Duke, Sarah, the evil woman, pampers me, an extra.

The changes were so clear to the eye that they could no longer be ignored.

Of course, it is scary to look back on the evil deeds committed by the Grand Duke in the original work.

Actually, nothing has directly harmed me so far.

You could have assassinated me a long time ago without even a rat or a bird knowing. Is it because of the excitement of winning?

I said that I had decided to accept the situation with a bit of generosity.

"Wouldn't the Grand Duke also come to the royal banquet held for the winner soon?"

"If you think so."

"If that really happens... I want to talk to him instead of avoiding him."

It definitely settles the score, I thought.

It's not just the matter with the Grand Duke that needs to be resolved.

"..."

In fact, my heart is racing even now as I lie close to him in bed. When I look at his eyes they are like rippling waves, my heart flutters.

We decided that we would soon come to a conclusion together about what this feeling was.

'Really... Do I like him?'

A lot happened during the three days I spent with Kael. What I especially cannot forget was the sight of him falling off the cliff without hesitation.

Maybe because he thought of me as just a means to break the curse. If not, is it possible that there is some selfishness in the way he treats me?

I felt like I wanted to ask, but I decided to keep my mouth shut for now.

I slowly became tired as I lay on the bed, half-reclining in the wide, strong embrace. The man spoke as if he had noticed that my eyes were fluttering with sleep.

"You must be very tired. You had a really hard time participating in the banquet."

"It's Kael...."

"You go home first, Enri."

"Um, then what about you?"

"As I heard from Bacchus, I still have a place to show my face."

"I can wait too."

"I am grateful, but I decline. You need rest now."

I muttered in a sleepy voice in a fairly firm voice.

"It was different when I came. I was hoping we could go together when we go back...."

"Did you?"

Kael answered with a bit of amusement.

"Everyone will miss you. Your maids, the count's cooks, and servants."

"That's right, I miss Sarah a little bit."

I laughed a little while thinking, how did I end up in such a relationship with the villainess from the original?

"Just sleep, I'll carry you to the carriage on the way out."

"How can you do that? Are you okay?"

The voice that said that became increasingly blurred.

It's been a really long time since I slept in a proper bed. A cozy and warm feel, not the damp stone floor of a cave. In addition, I kept getting tired, probably because of the aftermath of using magical power to wake Kael.

Finally, when I was almost falling asleep, I felt the sensation of my body being lifted.

"It still hurts... Do not do that...."

"Sleep well, Enri."

I heard him walking away with great strides, ignoring my words. The door opened and Bacchus and Melua came out, who were waiting for us.

Behind the gasping sound of surprise, Bacchus' angry shout was heard.

"What did you do to Lady? No matter how much of a leader this is..."

I'm a little touched that Bacchus stepped up for me even though he's scared of Kael. Then Melua also added a word.

"Isn't this kind of treatment harsh for someone who courageously came forward?"

Kael's embarrassed voice was heard.

"Enri, I'm the one who told you to sleep comfortably... Would you mind standing up for a moment and helping me explain?"

But I couldn't open my eyes, as if glue had been applied to my eyelids. Soon, Kael spoke with a light sigh.

"Yeah, I'd rather be the bad guy than wake you up."

With those words, I fell into a deep sleep.
