EIITAB - Chapter 57 < Attack >
Even if it is Trampled and Broken
Thanks to the efforts of Aslan and the knights over the past few years, the demonic beasts had retreated to the northernmost part of the wall beyond Kalathi Castle.
'If the wall falls, the entire North will be in danger, but there's no way that's possible since everyone is risking their lives to protect it.'
The ground was frozen and farming was difficult, but thanks to driving out the demonic beasts, Kalathi was also establishing its own peace.
Jerome muttered, rubbing his eyes roughly with the back of his hand.
"But why doesn't my senior come here?"
It seems like quite a bit of time has passed since he went on patrol. Jerome scratched the back of his head and yawned once more.
"Where on earth have you gone?"
Although he felt anxious for a moment, the young knight quickly shook his head vigorously from side to side. This is because one of the old sayings from Kalathi came to mind. Negative thoughts bring bad luck. So, it was right to avoid making unnecessary guesses.
The young knight, Jerome, forced himself to redirect his thoughts.
"Let me see."
He searched his chest and took out something. A handkerchief embroidered with small flowers, which did not suit him, appeared. Jerome looked down at it and started laughing without realizing it. The monks in the capital didn't like anything about it, but at least this handkerchief seemed to be very nicely made.
As he thought of the face of the person who would love receiving this as a gift, his lips parted to the point where his gums became dry.
"You should take it well."
He regretted asking for packaging when he bought it later, but it was already too late. Thinking that there was nothing he could do about it, Jerome folded his handkerchief at an angle so as not to get it wrinkled and put it back in his pocket.
The boy knight threw some more firewood into the bonfire. As he looked at the burning flame, his body became tired and his mind became dizzy from the warmth. He shook his head several times, trying to come to his senses, but it was no use.
In the end, the youngest knight could not overcome his fatigue and began to doze off next to the warm campfire. How much time has passed like that?
Tap.
The young knight woke up from his slumber to the sound of someone stepping on his eyes.
"Seniors......?"
He lifted his heavy eyelids, but half of his eyes were unfocused and blurry.
"Why are you so late?"
That was when the boy driver asked the question again in a mumbling voice.
"Krrrrr."
From somewhere, the howling of an animal began to be heard mixed with the harsh wind. At that moment, Jerome felt the sleep that had swallowed his escape in an instant. He held the sword hanging at his waist in his hand so that he could draw it at any time.
In that state, he focused his eyes and aimed forward, once again hearing the crunching sound of stepping on snow and the howl of an animal.
That wasn't all. A foul stench rushed into his nose, and he began to see several pairs of red eyes floating in the darkness.
"Oh my God."
Jerome's complexion instantly turned pale. It was to the point where he thought this was exactly what it felt like to send a chill down his spine.
Tuk.
A demonic beast that appeared to be a leader placed what was in its mouth on the frozen ground. Since the ground where the demonic beasts were standing was high, it soon rolled down to where the light from the bonfire reached.
"Stop, senior!"
Jerome's voice rose in sorrow as he looked at the face of the senior knight who had already grown cold. But he had no time to wallow in sadness.
"Rain, emergency!"
Gritting his teeth, the young knight hurriedly raised his voice.
"The devil has appeared! Emergency!"
Jerome's voice cut through the quiet night. At the same time, the young knight reached for the bonfire. The burn wasn't important.
"!"
Jerome took out a piece of wood that was on fire and threw it towards the demon beasts.
Whick!
The firewood flew in a parabola, fortunately it did not go out in the middle of the fire and landed on the back of one of the demonic beasts. The sound of fire burning was heard. If it had fallen on a snow field, it would have been extinguished quickly and would only have angered the demon beasts.
"Kaekakakang!
Kang Kang! Kang!
The demon started rolling on the snow to put out the fire on his back. The youngest knight, who thought it was time to do this, repeatedly raised his voice.
"Emergency! The beast has appeared!"
The boy knight shouted at the top of his voice. Soon the barracks were walking and the knights quickly came out.
At the same time, demonic beasts as big as bulls began to appear one by one from beyond the snow hill. The knights frowned and each spit out harsh curses.
"Shit! How did these bastards get down here?"
"What the hell is going on? What on earth is Wharton doing?"
In particular, Dean cursed harshly and quickly loaded the weapon he had brought out. Dean lightly held the large bow the size of his body with one hand and lit the arrowhead. Then, without hesitation, he fired at the demon beasts.
Puck!
A loud sound was heard from the group of monsters,
'Keeeeek!'
A cry of pain was heard as if it were tearing the night sky.
Unlike other knights who wore simple protective gear, Aslan was wearing only pants and a shirt. He gave a brief command without even casting a single glance in the direction of the monster.
"Protect the carriage."
"Yes!"
As soon as Aslan finished speaking, the knights immediately surrounded the carriage and formed a camp.
"Make sure the fire doesn't go out."
"Understood!"
After leaving a short command, Aslan opened the carriage door with a stern look on his face. Hestia and Angela, who must have woken up early due to the commotion outside, stood up and looked toward the door.
Even in the darkness, Hestia boasted an unrivaled presence. She was hugging her maid as if she were protecting her.
"... Oh, it was you."
Hestia, with her tense face, realized that the person who opened the door was Aslan, and she let out a long sigh that she had been holding in. Even in the darkness, Aslan could see that her tension had suddenly disappeared, as her shoulders had lost all strength and her height had dropped.
It had been quite a while since she had spoken to her. However, the moment he saw Hestia's nonchalant attitude towards him, he felt that he had been the only one who had been scoring goals, and his appetite suddenly increased.
Throbbing.
His heart tightened,
'What? What on earth is this feeling?'
Aslan frowned slightly at the unfamiliar pain in his chest. Then, with his eyes fixed on Hestia, he spoke hurriedly.
"No matter what happens outside, never come out."
"What the hell is going on?"
The two people's words met at the same time. It was the first time in a long time that they had spoken to each other, but there was no time to feel awkward.
Hestia looked out with a bewildered face, met the demonic beast's bright red eyes, and sucked in a breath.
"Oh my God...."
As he looked at her face, whose blood had drained in an instant, Aslan became more worried about her, rather than bursting out with the anger that had been building up for several days.
'Damn it.'
It's probably the first time she has seen something like that in her life. She's already a weak-hearted woman. The only thought that filled Aslan's mind was the need to sort out the situation as quickly and cleanly as possible.
He caught a glimpse of her again. Hestia was acting calm, but her eyes showed fear. Aslan wanted to tell her not to worry. But right now he couldn't afford to be reassuring her, he really didn't have any.
The cries of the demonic beast behind him were getting louder and louder.
'I must join right away.'
Aslan repeatedly urged an answer in a threatening voice
"Hestia, answer me."
Only then did Hestia look over Aslan's shoulder and look at him. The moment her violet eyes caught sight of Aslan, her shaking stopped as if it were a lie. The only person she can trust here.
"All right."
However, because she was not reassured, he spat out harsh words once more, as if chewing tough meat.
"Don't move anything until I open this door myself. No matter what noise you hear, don't even think about looking outside."
Hestia immediately shook her little head up and down as if she knew what Aslan was worried about.
"I have no intention of disobeying you. I will never open it."
Then Aslan belatedly nodded his head.
"It will be over in just a moment..."
The situation outside was so urgent that he was about to quickly close the door and turn around.
"Aslan, take care of yourself."
At Hestia's worried words that came from behind his head, Aslan paused for a moment as if he had a breakdown. He had no idea that she would be worried about him. Because he knew very well how badly and harshly he treated her. He didn't know how he should react. And once his timing was lost, it was difficult to get it back.
Hestia looked embarrassed as if she had brought up her useless story, and she withdrew her concerned gaze from him.
"I'm sure you can handle it well...? I'm sorry, I took up your time with pointless words."
As Aslan gritted his teeth, his lower jaw hardened. No, the words didn't come out. Also, he felt that if he opened his mouth, he would end up saying harsh words to the person who cared about him, so he chose to remain silent. In that way, Aslan bluntly turned his head away, not paying attention to Hestia's concerns. But something bothered him about turning back like this.
Although he had not lived a life of worrying about what others thought, Aslan still had an instinctive intuition that he should not close the door and leave like this. That was why.
"Greatness."
There is no need to add a word that is not necessary.
