IDMH - Chapter 21

IDMH - Chapter 21

I Decided My Husband

After a while, the maid brought a basket full of food. The ointment was put separately in her pocket.

If the 4th Prince had been in a good state of mind, he would have handed everything over, but since that was not the case, he ordered the maid again instead.

"Bring His Highness the 4th Prince to his residence with them."

The maid was startled and asked back.

"Yes? Me?"

"Then should I do it?"

When I crossed my arms and asked the question as if it were absurd, the maid hesitated and then answered that she would.

There were a lot of stains on her face that she didn't want to wear. Her disdain for the 4th Prince was also visible in her eyes.

If you were a maid in the imperial palace, you would have been an elite who had passed a difficult and strict test, but it was because you couldn't hide your emotions like this.

No, the 4th Prince is someone who is ignored not only by the royal family but also by all courtiers, so she may think there is no need to hide it.

"I'll check later to see if you followed my orders properly, so make sure you do them correctly."

After nailing the maid to prevent her from being foolish, she greeted the 4th Prince.

"I'll just go now, Your Highness."

The 4th Prince still smiled and waved like an idiot.

"Okay, goodbye."

I felt even more foolish as I stuttered in a low voice as if I was going through a transformation.

I guess I can say that I feel like I understand why people ignore and despise the 4th Prince.

I felt even more sorry for the 4th Prince.

But my help ended here. Even if he was pitiful, the 4th Prince was also a member of the royal family.

I got involved for no reason and I didn't know what the Emperor would do using this as an excuse, so I decided not to pay any more attention to the 4th Prince.

"I'm busy, so you can go on your own from here."

I tried not to pay attention, but I couldn't when I saw the scene outside the window.

At the entrance to the Spring Palace, the maid was getting irritated after handing over a heavy basket and wound medicine to the 4th Prince.

"Anyway, the stablekeeper's quarters where you stay aren't that far from here."

Even if it's half a penny, you're the Prince.

I couldn't help but laugh at the blasphemous name.

Meanwhile, I found it ironic that I was constantly using polite language.

"Can I go?"

"Uh, huh? Yes, hehe."

"Ugh, I shouldn't say anything."

The maid patted her chest in frustration, then put her hands on her waist and looked down at the 4th Prince with a stern look.

"If she asks later, you have to tell her that I definitely brought you there."

“Ah... Who?”

"I mean the person who saved you."

The 4th Prince laughed brightly as if he finally remembered that the lady the maid was talking about was me.

The maid laughed as if it was absurd to see the 4th Prince like that.

"I found a pretty person and got it."

Could that pretty person be me?

It's definitely a compliment that should make you feel good, but when the maid said it, it wasn't like that at all.

"Anyway, I'm going to leave now, so don't get distracted and go straight to the stablekeeper's quarters!"

The maid asked the 4th Prince to take care of himself and then suddenly disappeared.

I clearly ordered her to take the 4th Prince to his residence, but she disobeyed my order.

Even if this happens, she thinks I won't know.

There was no way the 4th Prince could answer the question properly, so if I hadn't seen this scene in person, I wouldn't have known.

But what should I do? Unfortunately, I saw it.

I watched the 4th Prince, thinking that I would have to scold that maid later.

The 4th Prince looked around anxiously, as if he didn't know what to do, and then disappeared in the opposite direction to where the maid had disappeared.

'I hope you'll be okay.'

Will the 4th Prince, who is mentally unstable, be able to safely reach the stablekeeper's quarters?

I was worried. Someone who didn't pay attention from the beginning might not know, but that wasn't the case, so I looked out the window and thought about it for a moment, then went back the way I came.

I wasn't planning on doing anything in particular.

Just to make sure that the 4th Prince got to the stablekeeper's quarters safely, I quietly walked behind the 4th Prince without making any signs of presence.

Contrary to what I had feared, the 4th Princess was heading straight to his dormitory without taking a different route.

I don't have to follow you anymore.

"His Royal Highness."

As I was about to follow him no further, a man who looked like he had just taken off his boyish appearance appeared in front of the 4th Prince.

Dark brown vests were the clothes worn by stable keepers. That man seems to be the stable keeper who takes care of the 4th Prince.

But the man's face was covered in bruises as if he had been hit so hard.

Perhaps because his leg was injured, the man limped over to the 4th Prince.

"What happened to you?"

The 4th Prince's face became stiff as he looked at that man. He threw down the basket he was carrying and ran toward the man.

"Why is this situation like this? Who hit you?"

What? He doesn't stutter at all?

"I just fell...."

"Do I look like an idiot who can't tell the difference between falling and getting hit?"

I looked at the 4th Prince in surprise as he looked completely different from the idiot Prince I saw earlier.

The 4th Prince frowned, looked closely at the man's condition, and then asked.

"Could it be that the 2nd Prince did that?"

"Haha....."

The man laughed awkwardly. It meant positivity.

"You son of a bitch......!"

The 4th Prince became indignant and clenched his fists. There was life in the eyes.

"I'm fine, so don't be too angry."

"It's not okay to be crushed like this!"

"It's always happened."

"That's the bigger problem!"

The 4th Prince seemed to be unable to subside from his anger and roughly threw the cashmere shawl I had given him.

And he stomped on the cashmere shawl as if he were the Second Prince and muttered a curse.

"Why is this guy or that guy so anxious that they can't harass people who are staying still?"

"Calm down, Your Royal Highness."

The man comforted the 4th Prince and looked around.

I quickly hid behind a tree to avoid being noticed by the man.

"Luckily no one is watching."

"Someone is coming here."

The 4th Prince spoke bluntly and swept up his disheveled hair.

"I need to get out of this damn palace quickly, I can't live because I'm so anxious."

"There are only two years left until the coming-of-age ceremony, so please be patient."

"Okay. Okay, let's go in now. I'll give you some medicine."

The 4th Prince looked around and entered the stable keeper's quarters with the man.

***

I thought he was the idiot Prince, but it seems he wasn't. But what he showed in front of me was that of a complete idiot.

Could it be that he's been acting like an idiot all this time?

In fact, he is not an idiot, but he pretends to be one.

Out of curiosity, I investigated the 4th Prince. Even though it was an investigation, it didn't do anything special.

It was easy to obtain information by simply asking courtiers about the 4th Prince. As I already know, the 4th Prince was born from a maid with whom the Emperor had a night of drinking.

The imperial palace was a place where the power struggle was fiercer than any other place. The struggle for the throne was especially intense. If he could gain the throne, he would mercilessly kill his blood-brothers.

For the young royal family to survive in the cold imperial palace without blood or tears, the mother had to have strength.

There were many cases where the mother was weak, or even if she was strong, if there was someone stronger than her, even a rat or a bird would be killed without her knowing.

In reality, a total of 11 Princes were born, but only 7 of them survived. One of those seven people was the 4th Prince.

The reason he was able to survive as a half-penny Prince, due to his mother's weak power, was because he was an 'idiot'.

No matter how much the 4th Prince had the right to succeed to the throne, there was no way the Emperor would hand over the throne to an idiot like that, so no one cared.

Thanks to that, the 4th Prince was able to remain safe until now.

'It was all an act of survival.'

I burst out laughing as I remembered the scene where the 4th Prince was stepping on the cashmere shawl I gave him.

If I hadn't seen that scene, I wouldn't have doubted that the 4th Prince was an idiot.

The 4th Prince's acting was perfect.

Moreover, from what I heard him say, it seemed like the 4th Prince wanted to leave the imperial palace.

Of course, the imperial palace would be full of only bad memories for him, so of course he would want to leave.

"He's a really interesting Prince."

I didn't think there would be any real laughter in the imperial palace, but I was able to do so thanks to the 4th Prince.

"Miss, you need to get ready for the dinner."

That smile disappeared after a while. Has it already happened that time?

After checking the time, I sighed deeply and put my head down. I didn't want to go, but since the Emperor was calling me, I couldn't disobey him.

As I entered the bathroom, a maid followed me to help me bathe. It wasn't May.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen May since then.

"I believe my personal maid was someone else."

I was curious about his whereabouts and asked, and the maid kindly answered.

"May suddenly became unwell, so I came instead, Miss."

It's not like she can't come because she got hit by Chernosor, right?

Suddenly, I remembered Chernosor mercilessly stepping on the 4th Prince and became worried about May.

I left her behind because I felt bad for tricking me, but I guess I shouldn't have done that.

"I heard that May suddenly became unwell. Is that correct?"

Feeling a bit guilty, I asked Sophia as soon as I got out of the bath.

"That's right, Ma'am."

Sophia answered as if she was very sad.

"That child also thought it was a great honor to serve you, but her health suddenly deteriorated, so she had no choice but to be unable to serve you."

"That's fascinating. When I saw her in the morning, she was fine, but is it possible for a person's health to deteriorate so much in just half a day?"

"I am also very worried. If jer physical condition deteriorates rapidly, it means that it is that bad."

Even though I stabbed him like this, his expression didn't change at all. As expected, the head maid is different.

"Okay."

I was worried about May's condition, but there was no way she would give me a proper answer if I kept asking.

I didn't have enough time to keep worrying about the maid whose name I didn't even know until this morning, so I quickly forgot about May.
