SPMB - Chapter 62

My Body Has Been Possessed By Someone

'Oh, no.'

The point where the tip of the sword is aimed is the left wrist. The moment the sword was struck, time passed slowly as if held by a giant hand. In that short and long moment, Kanna realized.

Maybe a few seconds later. She is about to have her wrist cut off. She will live with a disability for the rest of her life.

'It's okay, you can live well. It's okay, don't cry.'

Kanna clenched her fists. She squeezed her eyelids as they tried to close them. She will never close her eyes. On the contrary, he burst out laughing.

He planned to watch the end of her left hand, her intact body, until the very end!

The last moment of being cut by a sword, yes, probably now!

"Ugh!"

But the next moment, poop!

Cassil's sword landed in the wrong place. The moment it hits, the angle is strangely twisted.

"Ugh, ugh!"

Kanna was completely entranced and was in a daze, then slowly raised her head. And she witnessed. The arrowhead was stuck on the back of Cassil's hand!

"Ahh!"

At that moment, another rush of arrows struck Cassil's shoulder.

"Your Highness!"

Only then did the knight throw Kanna away. Je grabbed Cassil's falling body.

“Kuh, keuhuh.”

"Well, Your Highness! Are you okay!"

The knight quickly pushed Cassil behind his back. And Kanna stared at the direction the arrow came from.

"Who are you! Don't hide cowardly, show yourself!"

As he said, the opponent appeared. No. He never hid it in the first place.

Jump!

Kanna heard quiet footsteps. Even in this chaotic situation, he walked very calmly. Kanna narrowed her eyes, bathed in her strange sense of déjà vu.

Is it an illusion? A dull silver light seemed to sparkle in the darkness.

"This..."

No, no. It wasn't an illusion. Moonlight poured down on the head of the man who finally got closer. At that moment, his silver hair was clearly revealed. Blue eyes with a smile as always.

"Did you tell the Prince?"

It was Sylvien Valentino. He smiled calmly and approached her. Passing by Isaac, who was completely dazed, passing by the Venetian lord, he walked in front of Kanna.

But it wasn't her where his eyes were directed.

"I spoke to the prince."

"You..."

"It's been a while since I saw you, Your Highness."

"..."

At this moment, when even the knight was at a loss for words, a moan escaped from Cassil's teeth. He glared at Sylvien even though he was trembling in pain.

"What are you doing! How dare you, how dare you commit treason! What a betrayal."

Sylvien tilted her head as if puzzled.

"How could a subject of the empire harbor such a beastly heart?"

Then he smiles softly and looks down at Kanna.

"Because I think my wife has been kidnapped."

"...!"

"I'm just here to save you."

The air was brightly frozen. The breathing of Cassil, his knight, Isaac, and Balix stopped at the same time.

Wife?

Wife? Sylvien Valentino's wife?

Cassil's face was distorted in frustration. Could it be that the nonsense she was talking about was true!

"Do you think that's an excuse! Duke Valentino, you dared attack the royal family! Do you think His Majesty will forgive this!"

"Yes."

Sylvien nodded without even thinking.

"I think he'll forgive me."

"W-what?"

"I only attacked the kidnapper to save my wife, however."

Sylvien laughed with a sigh. He had the grumpy, tired smile of a child.

$Who would have imagined that a naked scoundrel would be His Highness the Prince?"

Cassil's face turned bright red at those words.

"Your Majesty, do you think your Majesty will forgive this?"

"What?"

"The person who is in exile for raping the Baroness."

"...!"

Cassil's eyes suddenly shook.

"This time, you are trying to kidnap and murder the Duchess."

"...!

"I'm at a loss as to how to convey this to His Majesty."

Cassil could not say anything as if his tongue had been cut out. Only then did he feel the reality of this situation - a situation for which he was responsible.

"Be that as it may, this person is His Highness the Prince. You are His Majesty the Emperor's descendant."

The knight muttered menacingly.

"But how dare you shoot an arrow at the Prince!"

 "I didn't know."

Sylvien laughed shamelessly.

"Isn't it a dark night?"

"Are you calling that an excuse!"

Then Sylvien tilted his head. He asks, staring at the slippery knight as if puzzled.

"Who would have thought that the person who tried to murder the mistress of the Valentino family and the eldest daughter of the Addis family was His Royal Highness?"

"..."

"Besides, if I hadn't shot the arrow at that moment, my wife would have died."

Sylvien spoke neatly. And he laughed.

"Wouldn't this be enough of an excuse to present to His Majesty? What more can I say?"

Neither Cassil nor the knight could say anything.

"Okay then."

Sylvien passed them by. He got down on one knee and lifted Kanna's body up.

"It's late at night, so we'll discuss this later."

He smiled softly and greeted them.

"Please have a good night."

***

Only after entering the carriage did Sylvien drop off Kanna.

"Whoa."

He sat down on the seat across from her and loosened his tight cravat. It was a slightly nervous gesture.

Then he brushed her disheveled hair up and exhaled again. Only then was he able to give Kanna a straight look.

".."

But he didn't say anything. He just looked at Kanna who was a mess. His eyes swept over her from head to toe.

Black hair that was messy and tangled. Moreover, the nape of his neck, her arms, and her grip were all covered in scars. Only after receiving his gaze did Kanna realize her condition.

"I got hurt when I climbed the tree."

Kanna was so dazed that she didn't even know she was hurt.

"..."

And then there was silence for a long time. Of course, she thought she would be bombarded with all kinds of questions. Kanna became curious about SyIvien not asking anything.

"How on earth did you find out?"

He probably expected a kidnapping after seeing that the escort knight assigned to her had collapsed.

'How did you find the location?'

Did he really shoot the arrow without knowing it was the Prince? How does he plan to handle this? And,

'Why did you save me?'

Among the many questions, that question mark was the biggest.

'Why do you save me by harming the Prince?!'

Kanna was curious, sincerely. Hasn't he been watching and not getting involved in whether she dies or not? Was there any reason for him to suddenly save her? And that too by committing a huge catastrophe by shooting arrows at the royal family?

Anyway, one thing is clear.

"Sorry."

She has to apologize.

"I think things are going to get complicated because of me. I'm sorry for causing any harm."

"..."

Sylvien did not answer. He just stared at her in silence. But his gaze sank even lower. Kanna seemed to be feeling upset for some reason, so she watched him carefully. Perhaps there weren't enough apples?

At that moment, she found Sylvien's hand quietly placed on his lap.

The back of his large hand was tightly clenched into a fist. Thick veins stood out on it.

"Raise your head, Miss Kanna."

Sylvien spoke very quietly.

"Raise your head."

His voice was so soft that this moment felt peaceful, like an ordinary day. However, perhaps due to a strange sense of discomfort, Kanna tensed and raised her head.

Is it fortunate or natural?

Sylvien's face was as calm as a lake without a single ripple. He even had a light smile on his face.

"Why are you apologizing?"

"That's right."

Kanna answered carefully.

"Because you did something you didn't have to do because of me. Sorry."

At that time, Sylvien, who had been sitting upright all along, changed his posture. He buried his body deeply into the backrest and sat with his long legs crossed. Tilting his face, he stared at Kanna.

"Miss Kanna doesn't owe me anything. You didn't cause me any trouble, so there's no need to apologize."

"Yes?"

"I was the one who brought you here, knowing that there were dangerous elements like Prince Cassil. They didn't even give me a hint."

"..."

"That is, I brought you here. If so, your safety and security should have been sufficiently guaranteed. We attached an escort driver, but it wasn't enough. That was my mistake."
