ICTV - Chapter 7

I Changed The Villain

The maids, who were looking at each other in silence, burst into laughter at the same time.

“Well, in a way, that’s the Young Lady’s charm.”

“The lady-like type is also very attractive.”

"Me?"

“Well, let me give you an example.”

Mera nodded. Immediately the two maids stood up. Rika, the braided maid, spoke cheerfully.

"We are a young couple walking down the street. "Honey, where should we go?"

On the other hand, Rachel, the short-haired maid, only spoke succinctly.

"Well."

"Park? Or the market? What should I do? Oh, I want to go to all of them!"

The two walked with their arms crossed. At that moment, a maid stood up and rushed towards the two. Rika spoke as if reading a Korean language book.

"Ah, suddenly the carriage came~!"

The moment the maid, or rather the carriage, was about to hit Rika, Rachel pulled Rika into her arm. Rachel waited until the carriage had completely passed and looked down at Rika.

"You have to be careful."

Although her tone was still indifferent, Rachel's arms were holding Rika tightly. Rika’s eyes sparkled with life. She smiled brightly and shouted.

"Huh!"

Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

The maids screamed to leave the room.

No, why are you screaming? He just held it because he was afraid it would bump into her girlfriend. Isn’t it strange that they don’t catch you in a situation like that?

When I didn't understand, Mera waved her arms up and down.

"The kindness that blooms like a bean in a drought amidst indifference is an oasis in the desert! A single dandelion blooming in a barren land! Ah, just when the other person is upset, I love that kindness you show."

"Ah!"

The two greeted each other gracefully, like real troupe actors, and then returned to their seats. Even if Rika is like that, Rachel is really good at acting. No, it's just her personality.

“These days, I’m only looking for books with indifferent male protagonists.”

“That’s right! I’m also in love with that kind of male protagonist.”

The rumor that Mera was selling romance novels to maids was true. At first, I thought the book wasn't good and threw it away.

Even the maids who had scolded her had now become great fans. The maids had a heated conversation, saying that they liked the male lead in this novel because of this and that they liked the male lead in that novel because of that. That was right then.

"Ah, but wouldn’t it be nice to imagine that you are actually the lover?"

It was the maids sitting opposite. As soon as the maid spoke, the maids sitting next to her nodded as if they had been waiting.

“When I date someone who is indifferent, I feel like only I who like them.”

“I know because I’ve been in a relationship, a kind and friendly person is the best.”

The maids who loved the indifferent male protagonist all glared at her.

“What they don’t know is how insecure it is to have a sweet lover. If you are kind to me, there is a high chance that you will be kind to other people too.”

“I think it would be unlucky for my lover to be kind to others.”

However, the maids who loved the indifferent male lead did not lose.

“If you guys start dating once, the angle will be different.”

“That’s why they say anything you haven’t tried in a relationship is not possible.”

“Oh, it’s not that I don’t do it, it’s that I can’t do it?”

I think even Satan would fall for the statement I just made. The maids were shocked, wondering if I was the only one who thought that.

“Oh my God, how can you treat a painful corner like that without even blinking!”

"Too bad! Do we really want to not be in a relationship?!”

“It’s too much. You guys started first!”

The fight became increasingly fierce. If I keep leaving them alone, I think he might start a fight. I finally got up.

“Everyone stop.”

Mera felt mortified.

“But, Miss! Those kids don't know the charm of an indifferent male protagonist. Oh no!"

“Yes, you are right.”

The other maids also felt aggrieved.

“Those kids don’t know the charm of the sweet male protagonist!”

“Yes, you are correct.”

The maids were dumbfounded.

“No, ma’am. What if you listen to both sides? You have to decide which side is right!”

Why do I have to decide? Both are correct. I lay down on the bed again.

“They say it’s not good to be too indifferent or too friendly.”

“...Sure, we said that."

“I did.”

In this case, it is enough to just mix opinions appropriately. I raised my finger.

“How about a man who is indifferent to others and only cares about me?”

Thud.

An invisible rock fell on the maids’ heads. The room suddenly became quiet.

I rested my head on one arm and waited for the maids to open their mouths. How long did I wait? Mera was the first to speak.

"...Oh my God."

“Yeah, why do we think like that? You couldn't do it, right? I was torn between being indifferent or being determined.”

“There is no law that says you have to choose one side.”

A loud exclamation came out of the maids' mouths, incomparably louder than before.

“I feel happy just imagining it!”

“If I had a man like that, I would get down on one knee right away and propose to him!”

“But there is no way such a perfect person exists in the world. It’s hard to find people like that even in novels.”

Mera's eyes sparkled. Mera said half-heartedly.

“...No, there it is.”

"What?"

“There is a man in this world who is cold to others, but is kind to his lover.”

"Really?! Who? Who is it!?"

Mera burst out laughing. She shouted proudly.

“Duke Serenity!”

"Ah!"

That's how the maids achieved their second enlightenment. The maids talked in a very serious tone.

“It’s true, I was there but I had no idea.”

“When he talks to other people, it’s a cold, brisk winter, but in front of My Lady, he's a warm spring. It’s as if he's afraid that the Pale family’s rose flower, the Lady, will wither even a little.”

I looked at the maids blankly and then opened my mouth.

“Then in the end, I am kinder than Belial."

“You mean it’s not true?”

The maids flinched. Becky waved her hand awkwardly.

“Oh, no. That's not it...Compared to the Duke... hmm, what should I say about this.”

“You can just be honest.”

The maids’ shoulders slumped.

“Yes, I guess so.”

“We will take your side whenever possible. I'll be honest with you, Miss. The Duke’s dedication is beyond imagination.”

“In a way, I think the Duke is really brave. Usually, people think that when it comes to dating, the one who likes more is lost. That’s why they often hide their feelings of affection, but the Duke is not like that at all.”

Now that I think about it, the last article I saw on the Internet before I was possessed felt like this. From beginning to end, the author gave a long speech about how miserable and terrible a relationship that actively expresses self-interest is. The author himself at the end made a promise.

‘Next time, I will definitely meet someone who likes me more.’

It is said that the author's lover was so blunt that he made people feel lonely even when they were together.

I hugged the pillow and looked up at the cloth. Now that the engagement has been safely confirmed, I shouldn't be notified of a breakup like last time. I have to hold on somehow until the Duke decides to kill me.

Then...

“I’m really blunter than that person.”

"You?"

"Yes."

Even if you ask people other than the maids, they will all answer in the same way. I thought I did well as a romantic fantasy fan, but that was just my illusion. I asked the maids.

“Can you lend me some of the romance novels you guys are reading?”

I guess I'll have to study again from the beginning. At my request, the maids immediately rushed to the room.

***

After that, time passed quickly and it became the day when Belial visited the Pale family mansion.

A pure white carriage, so magnificent that it could not be compared to my family's, stopped in front of the mansion.

"Rose, sorry. I came a little early, right?”

The carriage had a snake, the Serenity family emblem, clearly engraved on it. The carriage was so large that it was twice as large as our family’s carriage.

The carriages that powerful people ride are different. I looked at Belial getting out of the carriage.

“I can’t control my heart.”

Behind Belial stood servants carrying luxurious boxes and bouquets of flowers. Belial blushed and looked shy.

“I also prepared a gift for your family. Do you think they will like it?”

As expected, today is an incredible amount of kindness. But today, I will not lose. For today, I read a romance novel for training.

I approached Belial, gently picking the hem of my dress with my hand. And then I opened his mouth.

"Hello. My..."

My mouth stopped. Belial's height, well over 180cm, caught my eye. It's no wonder my brother laughs at me, saying that I look like a dwarf when I stand next to Belial.

What should I do? If this continues, my plan will be disrupted. No, I can't back out of here. I ended my sentence resolutely.

“My Baby wolf.”

Zeng.

Everyone, including Belial, was just frozen. Somehow, my kindness seemed to harden people instead of melting them.

***

How long did the silence last? Belial put his hand on my shoulder.

"Rose."

“Yes, My Baby Wolf.”

Poof.

The maids quickly covered their mouths. The maids who had free hands survived, but not the servants brought by Belial. They couldn't even cover their mouth because their hands were full of presents. The servants' faces turned bright red and they chose to be killed rather than like this.

If you want to laugh, you can just laugh. There are times in life when you want to smile in front of your boss.

I decided to make room for the servants so they could laugh in peace. I tugged at the hem of Belial's clothes

“Go inside, My baby wolf.”

I heard the silence again. The servants were crying because they could not hold back their tears, and the maids fell to the floor as soon as Belial turned around.

In particular, Mera was pounding the floor with her fists alongside Becky. Doesn’t it hurt?

“Ah, Lady. Please stop...."

“This is not what we wanted…! Of course, this is good in its own way, but...!"

It was me who spoke, but everyone felt the shame.

It was up to those watching. People in this world seem to have a high level of empathy.

I glanced at Belial. Belial's face was whiter than ever. I really don't think I should be here anymore.

I'm worried about them, but I'm just as worried about Belial. It is helpful to both parties to leave quickly. With that in mind, we entered the mansion, and as soon as the mansion door closed, we heard loud laughter. They laughed so loudly that even we inside could hear it clearly.

I listened to the laughter and opened my mouth.

“They say laughing is good for your health.”

"..."

“We protected the health of those people, My Baby Wolf,"

Hup!

Before I could finish speaking, Belial's hand covered my mouth. Even if he blocked it, it was so weak that I could easily remove his hand with my own strength. Well, if you're going to block it, block it properly.

Thinking like that, I lowered Belial's arm.

"What's wrong, Rose?"
