ICTV - Chapter 4

I Changed The Villain

"If you're going to do this, why did you ask what day it is today?"

 "Just..."

I looked around at the dress. There was nothing special about it except that the hem of the skirt was loose and the sleeves were see-through. Good. That's a nice design.

When the dress was decided, Mera went to the other maids and began to groom me.

"Should I loosen my hair or tie it up?"

"Let's not tie it up. The lady's hair is so beautiful."

“Yes, Master Beryl's hair is curly like a sheep, but yours is pretty. "

"I think the lady's hair is the prettiest."

The maids chatted lightly and skillfully moved their hands. At first, it was awkward to do everything. I'm happy because I can't get used to it.

"Lady, it's all done."

Of course, the clothes are uncomfortable, but even if you think you'll survive thanks to the maids, your thoughts change when you look at the dress. It's bright and pretty, but there's nothing practical about it. Crucially, high-heeled shoes. The maids put on shoes of the same color as the dress on my feet.

"You look so beautiful."

I checked my outfit. Now, all you have to do is trim the skirt and you're done. Mera knelt on the floor after biting her lips.

"Lady, you said that you would definitely end your relationship with Duke Serenity today, right? I heard from the Young Master.”

What kind of news are you hearing? My brother said that if something happened, he would be all bad. How else to bother with this later.

"Completely break up with Duke Serenity do you lose. My heart hurts"

Mera stood up.

“I will support you no matter what choice you make.”

 "Why?"

When Mera was crying and making a fuss like that yesterday, I always wondered, Mera replied shyly.

"Yeah, the lady is really calm and gentle. You are a kind person."

"..."

Who? Me? I looked around in silence. Even if you wash your eyes and look for it, there is no one like that here. If you are a lazy person who wants to become a stone, you don't know. Mera, not knowing what I was thinking, took a parasol.

"Well then, shall we set out?"

I stared out the window. One of the finest brown carriages in our family was waiting at the door.

***

“Look at that carriage over there.”

“Isn’t it the carriage of the Pale family?”

 Click.

The coachman opened the door in moderation. I got out of the wagon, being careful not to get my feet caught in the hem of my dress. People working nearby stopped what they were doing. They must have been people who lived in Belial's territory.

"That's Miss Rose, right?"

"That's right, the one the Duke loves."

Mary, holding a parasol, followed my steps. I feel like I've become an Instagram star just by living under a parasol.

"By the way, what is she here for today?"

"You call that a question? Of course, she came here to meet Duke Serenity."

If there is an Instagram here, the aristocrats will soon become SNS stars. People will become fans who long for their lives. There will be a lot of antis as well. Clearly 'aristocrats and above only kinship please'  and commoners prohibited private messages.

"Her expression suddenly became serious.”

“I'm sure she's thinking about what lesson to give to Duke Serenity today. It's because they think differently than we do."

It is true that the level is different, but I did not say that the level was high. Imagining the image of aristocrats trying to match people with a higher rank than me, I burst into laughter. Young people also shouted in a single voice.

"Oh. She finally decided what lesson to teach!"

"My lady, do your best today!"

"We love you dearly!"

I don't know what they're talking about, but they seem like very naive people. I waved my hand at people and moved my foot again.

When Mera adjusted the angle of the parasol she asked.

"My lady, why did you have to get off here? It's a bit far from the mansion."

"I want to walk."

Of course, this is just an excuse and there is a real reason. If I visit in a noisy carriage, Belial will immediately know that I have come. The true truth is, I plan to storm into his office without making a sound. I hurried my steps while remembering the drama I had been watching.

"Didn't you tell the coachman to wait for us to come back?"

"Yes, I've asked him several times."

"Good job."

It's not that I didn't come from that far away. More than anything.

"The Serenity family's mansion is so nice."

 "I know."

It's so huge, there's no way I can't see it. The mansion was old-fashioned stacked white bricks, with its elegant gray roof overwhelming at any time. I looked up at the high wall that surrounded the mansion and headed for the main gate.

Just beyond the front door, I saw two men in white uniforms and capes pass by. Just by looking at that uniform, I could tell that they were a skilled knight. The training the Serenity family knights received was known to be notorious.

 "Hi"

As soon as I waved my hand, the two men turned their heads like a knife. Mera folded her parasol and bowed her head.

"Miss Rose?"

“What are you doing without contact?”

It's clear that those two don't yet know that Belial has said goodbye to me. Well, it was just the two of us and the escorts there. Belial's escorts have a reputation for being overly reticent. At one time, rumors even circulated that it was because of silent practice in order to protect the master.

"Is the Duke here?"

"Of course he is. Wait a minute. I'll let him know that Miss Rose is here."

"No. Don't do that."

I immediately stopped them. Both of their eyes widened.

"Yes?"

"For now, just tell James."

The two nodded their heads as they pondered what to do. To put it bluntly, there is no reason for those two to listen to me since they are from different families. But sooner or later, every time I come to the mansion. I begged God to treat you well. Because of this, I will listen to any requests. I'm on the side.

After a while, I went to look for James. The man is back.

"The butler said to come and bring you in. Come here."

"Thank you."

Everything is going as planned. All that remains now is how well I am at truth. We crossed the large garden and headed towards the mansion. James was waiting for us at the entrance.

"Welcome."

The monocle sparkled in the light of the chandelier. His flawless white hair and undisturbed suit were his biggest characteristics. James raised his lowered head.

“Miss Rose,”

 I commanded Mera.

 "Mera, you'll wait here."

"Yes, Miss."

James pointed up the stairs. Belial meant up there. We climbed the stairs side by side. Did you climb the stairs for days?

After confirming that no one was around, James opened his mouth.

"I heard that you two broke up."

"You knew."

No, it's more strange not knowing. James was one of Belial's attendants, as no one else knew.

"We heard the Duke of Serenity say goodbye."

This time, too, I flatly agreed.

"Yes. That's right. I was dumped."

"..."

James doesn't say anything for a moment.

"Why are you here?"

"I have something to say to him..."

To be precise, I came to tell the truth, but if I pull on his clothes and make a mess everywhere, Belial will be angry too.

“Did you come here to persuade the Duke to reunite?”

"Does James want me to?"

James laughed without saying anything. I tilted my head at the meaningless laugh. I had no idea what James was thinking.

"Duke Serenity."

I couldn't figure out what he was thinking. We got to the room where Belial works. James knocked on his door. He heard his voice telling him to come in.

"Will you be all right for a minute?"

James went inside with a friendly smile as before. Belial was sitting in front of a desk piled with papers.

"What's going on?"

Belial fixed his gaze on the papers.

 "A guest has come."

 "Guest?"

Belial twisted one corner of his mouth and raised it.

“Didn’t you say I didn’t have any plans today?”

"That's right. But it's a really unexpected guest."

His Fingers not holding the papers tapped the desk.

“All of a sudden, he came to me when I was in the worst mood.”

This is a side of Belial that he never showed in front of me. It looks like the screw is missing.

I even doubted that he was really a villain because he only showed me the good side. I blankly stared at Belial. The cold silver hair and the wall made the atmosphere in Belial even colder. It was like being possessed by a ghost. How can the atmosphere change so drastically?

At that moment, Belial's voice lowered.

"I'm curious what kind of guy he is. I can't help but admire his precision."

Ah. Let's stop watching now. James pokes his head out from behind.

"That's the guy."

Took.

At the same time, the folder fell from Belial's hand. Papers were scattered all over the room. The eyes, which were described in the original work as being unmoved even when the head was cut off, were shaking mercilessly.

"I'm sorry for coming so suddenly."

It's daunting to actually do it. What should I do? I fiddled with the hem of the clumsy dress.

"I have something I really want to say..."

Before I could finish my words, Belial hurriedly stood up.

"Do not misunderstand. I meant that you were so brave that I could only admire it.”

“Yes?”

“As expected, you are amazing, Rose. Did you come all the way here because you're afraid I'll become a lunatic again?"

Don't change your stance on the villain topic. You're pushing your bad image to the end. I'm dumbfounded.

***

Belial immediately drove James out and ordered him to bring the dessert. Then, James asked me.

"Have you had breakfast?"

 "Yes."

"Then I'll bring something light..."

I immediately grabbed James' shoulder. I said I ate, but I didn't say I was full. Me and James exchanged glances. After a while, James opened his mouth.

"I've underestimated, Lady."

“You should have known by now.”

Originally, there was a separate boat to eat cake.

After a while, James brought out a bunch of desserts, and just looking at them made my mouth feel sweet. Mont Blanc cake, which I said was the most delicious the other day, vividly colored macaroons, round cookies, etc. The upper leg of the table seemed to bend.

"Then feel free to talk."
