THST - Chapter 112

Episode 112. A Woman More Dense Than She Looks

The second morning with the Grand Duke.

Rose opened her eyes to the morning sunlight and snuggled deeper into the Grand Duke's embrace.

Last night had been a truly wild night.

Clothes were strewn haphazardly beside the bed, a clear reflection of the previous night's intensity.

'...This is driving me crazy.'

It was so good.

Rose, having experienced a happiness she'd never felt before, couldn't easily shake off the ecstasy of the previous day.

However, there was one slightly uncomfortable thing.

'Why do you keep asking if I like it?'

It hadn't been like that the first day.

Once or twice would have been fine, but the constant asking broke the mood a little.

The sound of 'Do you like it?' was still vivid, as if it was ringing in her ears. It wasn't even rapping, but the question was timed to the beat.

'Well... It's understandable since we're just getting used to each other.'

Rose thought positively, thinking he was probably just trying to find something she liked better.

She never dreamed he'd question his abilities.

Then, the Grand Duke's voice, still half-asleep, came.

"Are you awake?"

"Good morning,"

Rose said, poking her face out from under the covers. Still embarrassed to meet Rose's eyes in bed, the Grand Duke blinked his half-closed eyes and hugged Rose's waist. Even in his half-asleep state, he murmured to Rose,

"Was yesterday good?"

Rose felt like she was going to develop a neurosis from the repeated "good" sound.

'Ugh, that sound again.'

Even though she kept saying it was good, it still happened.

Still, she must have been so engrossed in her actions that even this seemed cute.

"It was good."

Rose replied softly, smiling.

"Really?"

"Yes."

A faint smile spread across the Grand Duke's face at Rose's words. He seemed quite satisfied with Rose's answer.

"So, how was it, Grand Duke? Was it good?"

Now it was Rose's turn. She asked back, just as the Grand Duke had asked her.

“Um...”

He mumbled, still half-asleep, unable to answer right away.

Rose’s heart trembled slightly as she waited for an answer.

'What is this trembling...?'

It hadn’t seemed like much when he asked, but now that she was in the position of waiting for an answer, she felt unnecessarily nervous.

“...It was good. I’m going crazy even now.”

The Grand Duke muttered slowly and pressed his body against Rose’s.

“Ah.”

Rose took a deep breath.

This man was truly a tireless energizer.

Meanwhile, Doana couldn’t sleep all night.

She nervously bit her fingernails and racked her brain.

“Damn it... How long will it take before I can open a department store?”

When she finally decided to give it a try, there were too many things to think about.

She needed land, a building, and all sorts of brands to bring in...

She had no information, no money. Doana felt like her head was going to explode.

“Whew... First, I need to get the money.”

There was no way Eric would give her that much money. He hadn’t even given Doana maintenance fees. He said he’d pay for the baby when she had it.

Doana sighed deeply. That petty Eric clearly didn’t want to waste money on her.

Otherwise, she couldn’t just leave him like this.

Concerned, Doana decided to find the only trustworthy person in the mansion.

She got up from her seat and walked toward the table. She scribbled something on a note, folded it up small, and held it in one hand. With everything ready, Doana pretended to take a walk and wandered around the mansion.

“Hmm, anyway. It’s probably time to find White.”

She had prepared a large gift for Beliana, but it seemed no one had found the cat yet.

“I wish you’d find him quickly.”

Doana giggled with a bitter smile.

She knew where White was, but pretended not to, grabbing the maid and asking.

"Have you found the cat yet?"

"Yes. I think it ran away."

"What? Ran away?"

"Yes. Otherwise, I don't think it would have gone unseen for so long."

"No way. Look for it again. Our White is so good at following people, so no way would happen..."

Doana left, telling her to come find the cat. Her pace was slow, her eyes moving faster than anyone else's.

Glancing around, she finally spotted him. Did he notice her gaze?

He slowly turned to face her. Doana blinked rapidly, as if signaling.

The other person was Doana's secret friend, the red-haired knight.

He smiled sinisterly and slowly walked toward her.

Doana quickly turned and led him to a secluded area. As he approached, Doana pretended to pass by and handed him a note.

He accepted it with aplomb and walked away without a trace.

"I'll ask him a bunch of questions when he comes to the secret place later."

Doana hummed as she left.

"Oh, but I'm hungry."

The morning sickness was still bad, but she couldn't help feeling hungry.

"I should go to the dining room."

Doana grabbed her stomach and stepped forward.

“How long will the Count keep saying ‘Rose, Rosee?”

Last night, he left in a hurry and never returned to the mansion. She knew he’d gone to Rose without her even saying it.

“Rose won’t meet with him anyway. She’s already bitten another man.”

But... What a bitch. If she bit one, shouldn’t the others be released?

“She’s going crazy trying to monopolize everything for herself.”

Truthfully, it was an unfair game from the start.

Not only was her status a factor, but Doana herself was a supporting character.

Doana was fortunate to be alive with her current face. At least she could boast that she was prettier than Rose in that one respect.

Besides, Rose had read this novel, so it would be easy for her to win over the men.

She could relate to them, and she’d have a wealth of basic information about them.

Doana, muttering about Rose’s gossip, had already arrived in the dining room.

“Doana, would you like breakfast today?”

When Doana, who had been skipping breakfast due to severe morning sickness, came to visit, the maid asked with a shaky expression.

“Uh. I’m hungry.”

She answered indifferently and stared blankly at the maid.

“What are you doing? You need to open the door. Do you want me to open it with my own hands?”

“Ah... yes.”

The maid had no choice but to open the door. Food was already set on the table.

Doana, already hungry, sat down on a chair and began to eat.

“Doana! You can’t eat that!”

The maid ran over in fright, but Doana frowned in annoyance.

Clink.

“Hey, you say even dogs don’t bother you while you’re eating. Are you crazy? Do you want to die?”

Doana put down her spoon forcefully and made a face.

“I’m eating because I’m hungry. Who are you to tell me not to eat?”

“No, I’m not saying you can’t eat. That food belongs to Countess Wence...”

“Huh, really. How can I believe it?”

Doana glared, her face covered in sauce.

“Hey, where’s yours and mine in the food? Did you put saliva on it?”

She said that and started eating like crazy, her nose buried in her plate. They said that when you don’t have morning sickness, you should eat a lot.

While Doana was eating without a care in the world, Beliar entered the dining room.

Beliana’s expression hardened as soon as she saw Doana eating her food.

“Hey, Doana,”

She called out to Doana, her face hard.

However, Doana only glanced at Beliana and didn’t respond.

“Can’t you hear me?”

Beliana called out to Doana again, but she remained silent.

Beliana approached Doana with a clattering sound, her face expressionless as if devoid of any emotion.

Beliana, who had come to Doana's side, twitched her eyebrows, then suddenly hit the back of Doana's head. "Boom!"

Doana 's face, which had been quietly eating, was crushed into the plate of food.

"Why are you ignoring me?"

She looked at Doana, who was struggling with her hands, with cold eyes. Her eyes were filled with contempt for Doana. She had become so absorbed in her role that just looking at her eyes made one believe she was the 'real Beliana.' The saying goes that a place makes a man, and Beliana was exactly that.

"Poohap!"

Doana barely raised her head. Her face was covered in tomato cream and mashed potatoes.

“Ha... What are you doing!”

Doana, who had been eating when the incident occurred, jumped up from her seat.

The shame was unbearable.

This was the method she used to use against the kids she bullied in school.

Whenever she went to the cafeteria, she would throw her plate at the bully and laugh.

But what she was being treated to now was exactly the same. Doana couldn’t stand the feeling that she had become the same level as them.

“What are you doing? You’re giving that greedy pig who ate my food more food.”

“Are you crazy?”

Doana lost her temper for a moment and almost lunged at Beliana. If she had wanted to, she would have grabbed Beliana by the collar and slapped her across the face.

Doana fought back her rising anger.

“Are you asking me if I’m crazy? You... You’re all that to me?”

Beliana glared at Doana with a chilling gaze.

“I guess I looked too easy. A mere maid, how dare you insult me?”

She seemed to have completely forgotten her status as a slave. Intoxicated with power, she slapped Doana’s cheek fiercely.

A slap was heard, and Doana’s face turned to the right.

“You, don’t be so arrogant. It wouldn’t be surprising if you lost that favor at any moment. And... the moment the Count shows even the slightest hint of abandonment, you’ll know it’s over for you. From what I’ve seen, you don’t have much time left.”

Doana clutched her cold cheek and trembled.

“You... do you think Eric would just sit back and do this to me?”

Beliana burst out laughing at Doana’s words.

“I hit you because the Count wasn’t here. And do you think the Count would even believe you if you told him? Not all the maids here would take your side, would they?”

She looked at Doana and shook her head.

“Well... you shouldn’t have been more polite. To the maids, to me. If you had been more polite, something like today wouldn’t have happened.”

The servants were busy trying to gauge the tense atmosphere.

“Um... Madam, I’ll have breakfast ready for you in a moment.”

“No, that’s enough. Seeing that pig squealing really ruined my appetite.”

She glared at Doana and left the dining room.

Doana ultimately had no choice but to send Beliana away.

It felt incredibly dirty, but it was bearable because it was intentional.

She had hoped she would openly display her hostility, but she fell for it the moment she was provoked.

“How foolish.”

The level of bullying was nothing more than that of a middle schooler.

Doana chuckled inwardly. She wanted Beliana’s image to be portrayed as violent.

And she intended to appeal to Eric. How could a violent woman be fit to be a mother?

Eric, having been abused by Cedric, deeply detested the violence of parents towards their children.

If Eric saw his father in Beliana, he might not impregnate her.

'I don't know if the plan will work or not, but it's better to try something, right?'

Besides, failure wouldn't be a real loss. It was something she just had to endure the dirty feeling.

Last night, when Eric said he would have another child, her mind snapped back to normal. It would be foolish to just sit still like this.

It wasn't long before he heard Beliana's scream.

"Gyaaaaak!"

The shrill scream filled the mansion enough to shake.

At the sound of Beliana's scream, Doana's distorted face slowly opened.

It seemed she had finally found what she had been hiding.

This was only the beginning.
