Queen of Villains - Chapter 155

<Episode 155: Side Story (19)>

“Well... I came here with my son. He doesn’t know I can shoot a gun.”

In fact, there were many hidden truths about Emily that she had not revealed to her children.

Before becoming a mother, Emily was a true shooter, a lover of romance novels, and a card gamer.

And now, he and his best friend, Marlene, were sworn enemies in the past.

“The child might be confused, so could you please put that article down while we eat?”

“Oh, I understand!”

Fortunately, the restaurant owner readily accepted Emily's request.

"Thank you."

Emily went back outside and brought Daniel back inside.

“Hello, Young Master.”

The boss greeted the two people as if nothing had happened.

“It seems that the young master resembles His Excellency the Duke.”

Daniel, who was in a good mood after going out with his mother for the first time in a while, became upset by those words.

“My eyes are just like my mother’s.”

The six-year-old child, who was said to be the offspring of a noble family, spoke with such authority that the gap between them was quite adorable.

“Yes, you both have all the good qualities in common.”

The manager tried to please Daniel and guided them to a table by the window.

“Is this the seat you used to sit in? Is it okay?”

All the other places had been replaced with new tables and chairs, but this place was still the same as it had been nine years ago.

'Sir, you rowed very well when the water came in.'

“Mother, have you ever been here?”

“Huh? Yeah... It was famous for being delicious back then, too.”

When Emily gave the manager a look, he coughed and hurriedly brought the menu.

“Then, please choose a menu and call.”

He left with a sheepish smile, and Emily and Daniel began selecting the menu.

“Since this place is famous for its duck dishes, should I order duck steak?”

“Yes, vanilla pecan ice cream for dessert.”

“Yes, let’s do that.”

After deciding on the menu, Daniel tilted his head and looked around.

“What’s wrong? Are you looking for the bathroom?”

“No. I’m looking for a picture of my mother.”

At Daniel's words, Emily's heart sank.

“If it’s a photo, what kind of photo?”

Emily asked Daniel, forcing the corners of her lips upward as if she knew nothing.

“Hayden clearly said he saw a picture of my mother at this restaurant.”

'Oh, no. Hayden told me about this restaurant.'

Emily asked in a nervous voice.

“Did you hear what picture Hayden saw?”

“He didn’t go into detail. He just said it was a really cool photo of my mother.”

Fortunately, Hayden didn't seem to say anything specific about the photo.

“Hayden, did he come here with his parents, too?”

“No. With his girlfriend.”

'What, why does a six-year-old already have a girlfriend?!'

She thought kids these days were really fast. Emily's first boyfriend was Killian...

“Hayden seems to be popular.”

“Yes. He said he wanted to meet her because she followed him around so much.”

'I'm telling you, you're really mature.'

“Doesn’t our Daniel have a girlfriend he likes?”

“Yes, of course.”

Daniel's popularity was just as high as Hayden's, but he shunned all women except his mother, so he never had a girlfriend.

While Emily was talking to her son, someone came up and knocked on the table.

“Good morning, Duchess. And Lord Daniel.”

Roger Goldwyn, the actor who still boasts the unwavering popularity number one spot in the Vancent with his dazzling looks.

“Long time no see, Roger.”

Emily greeted him with a bright smile. The memory of being a fan enough to ask for his autograph came flooding back.

“Hello, Uncle Roger.”

Daniel also waved happily.

“Are you alone?”

“Yes, because my house is nearby.”

“You still live in Andros.”

“Yes, it’s the same house where you came to visit me.”

'Yeah, there were times like that.'

The onyx necklace she bought on her way back from visiting the sick is probably still stuck somewhere in the warehouse.

“Uncle, if you came alone, would you like to eat with us?”

For some reason, Daniel readily offered to take the seat next to him. He'd been excited about a date with his mom, so it was a surprising move.

“I’m fine with it, but I wonder if it’s okay with you, Duchess.”

“Yes, I’m fine too.”

With Emily's permission, Roger was able to move with the help of the staff.

“Daniel really likes Uncle Roger.”

Daniel nodded in response to Emily's question.

“Uncle Roger always said I looked exactly like my mother.”

“Oh, so that’s why?”

Roger chuckled and patted Daniel's head. In fact, having been an actor for so long, he become better at capturing other people's emotions than anyone else.

Daniel had been particularly obsessed with his mother since he was around three years old, and Roger had already figured out why.

'I guess he learned all this from the boss.'

Even though Killian had two children, he was a man who loved his wife more than his children.

Daniel, who grew up seeing that, naturally perceived his mother as someone who needed to be protected, but gradually began to perceive his father as a competitor.

“The food you ordered has arrived.”

Emily's eyes widened at the sight of food filling the table.

“You really ordered a lot?”

"I just ordered more while moving tables. To celebrate your arrival in our neighborhood, I'll treat you to a meal. Enjoy."

“Wow, thank you, Uncle!”

Daniel smiled, his eyes flickering.

Someone was watching them with a murderous air as they looked like a happy family.

Emily said as she cut the steak for Daniel herself.

“Daniel, when you were younger, your father would cut each piece off like this and put it in your mouth.”

Roger met Emily's eyes and realized what she was trying to do.

'I guess I need to help.'

“Come to think of it, when you were young, His Excellency often brought you to this neighborhood to play.”

“Come to think of it, that’s true. He said he went on a date just the two of you, took me to the park, and even went boating on the lake... You two were so close, I was almost jealous.”

A smile appeared on Emily's lips as she thought of her husband.

At the time, Killian took full responsibility for Daniel's care as Emily's belly began to grow. Even now, she thinks he was a truly caring husband and affectionate father.

“Really?”

Even in Daniel's memory of asking that question, a scene vaguely came to mind where his father took him out to play.

“Do you know that I taught His Excellency how to read fairy tales?”

Emily's eyes widened at Roger's words. It was something she had never known.

“Really? You seem to be quite good at acting.”

“When reading to children, expressiveness is more important than anything else.”

Emily suddenly burst into laughter as she recalled her husband diligently reading a book, his voice changing every time. The more she thought about it, the cuter he seemed.

“I guess the cost of decorating your room was the highest in the castle?”

Besides that, Roger and Emily spoke passionately about how devoted Killian was to Daniel.

After listening to Roger and Emily's story, Daniel looked thoughtful.

“Daniel.”

Emily said, putting ice cream in Daniel's mouth.

“Your father loves you very much.”

"... Yes."

Suddenly, Daniel also missed his father.

After finishing the meal, they said goodbye to Roger and parted ways.

“Where should we go now?”

“I want to take a walk in the rose garden. I want to ride the carousel there.”

As he recalled his memories with his father today, Daniel felt like going to the rose garden where Killian often took him.

“Yes, let’s do that.”

“Shall we walk and digest our food?”

“I wonder?”

Since Andros, the capital city where they were, was famous for its good public security, Emily readily granted her son's request.

“Ivan. Then, let’s meet at the entrance to the Rose Garden.”

"All right."

It was about a fifteen-minute walk from the restaurant to the park. Emily also bought Daniel some cotton candy at a cotton candy shop she saw along the way.

“My hands are sticky.”
