TSFHA - Chapter 67

Ryan walked deeper into the hallway, taking off the rings he had on his ten fingers one by one and putting them in his pocket.

As they went further in, we could vaguely see a barred door in the darkness where they couldn't even make out faces...

Two knights are guarding the front.

“What? Stop. You’re on the wrong road.”

"This is the passage to the Level 4 Demon Cage. This area is off-limits to the general public, so please turn back."

“Just the two of you?”

Ryan asked, then quickly knocked out the two knights.

Without even making a sound, just thud, thud.

Kali's eyes widened as she watched the knights fall asleep.

'I didn't see it. What is it?'

It wasn't because it was dark, but she couldn't read the movement itself. It seemed like he hit a vital point, but where exactly and how?

'He is a capable person.'

Kali swallowed, clutching the sword at her waist tightly and entering a state of alert.

“Ha, it hasn’t even been half a year since I came out and I’m breaking the law again...”

Ryan muttered as he rummaged through the fallen knight's pockets.

"I'm sorry. Please don't remember my face. You just slept for a bit, didn't hurt anything, and woke up."

Watching Ryan apologize to the knights who couldn't even hear him, Kali realized.

‘You took off your ring earlier...’

He was planning on fighting from the beginning.

She's sure he put away hard metal accessories in advance for fear of getting hit by the wrong one and killing him.

“Hey.”

Ryan, who found the key, opened the locked window.

“Don’t say anything else and just follow me. Please, at least for the sake of seeing my cute daughter’s face, who was just standing next to me.”

The crazy person was right. It was certain.

But Kali can't help but get damn curious.

The skill that instantly defeated two knights who would not be easily defeated, and their suspicious identities...

As they entered the long passage that had started again, they came to a cage lit by a few dim lanterns.

Prison with bars on both sides.

The demons are entangled and trapped there, excited.

Kwaaaaak!

Grrrrr!!

They fought among themselves, and there were already quite a few dead bodies...

“Ugh! It’s gross, what the heck!!!”

Ryan suddenly shouted.

“...?”

Kali was dumbfounded. She couldn't figure out what kind of person Ryan was, the one who caused such a ruckus after seeing the demon.

The man who just defeated two sturdy knights in a second is trembling like this at the sight of mere 4th-grade demons?

"Uh, um. This is my first time seeing a demon. I didn't know it looked so disgusting."

Ryan made an excuse, perhaps embarrassed by his shouting.

“This is crazy. This is what comes out from behind my house.”

...where does this person live?

“Well, we’ve finally found a place where we can talk quietly.”

Ryan turned around with a very calm expression and said, even though he had walked in with his body twisted for fear of touching the demon.

“Money is not your goal.”

“Am I here to tell you something everyone already knows twice?”

“But you're not aiming to become a royal knight, so fame isn’t my goal.”

“The Imperial Knight’s goal is correct.”

“Absolutely not.”

“What made you so sure?”

“Because I said she wasn’t my daughter.”

“...”

He is definitely crazy...

"I have to take you to my house. Absolutely. Why?"

“...”

“Because that’s what my daughter wants.”

What a crazy kid...

"Why did you come out here when money or fame wasn't your goal? You're already famous, so it's not like you were trying to make a name for yourself."

“...”

"Then there's only one. This competition is structured so that all the skilled players, except the winner, are recruited as private soldiers for the nobles. So you."

Ryan's eyes lit up.

“You must have gone out to infiltrate a noble family, naturally.”

“...!”

In an instant, her spine became wet.

As the flow of conversation changed, Ryan, who had seemed like a crazy person, somehow looked different.

Kalo tried to keep her expression as calm as possible.

"My daughter singled you out as a strong contender for victory, and the fact that you're the most resentful family within the capital. Putting all of this together, I can deduce that your target is the Duke of Wassenberg."

...

Kali's eyes grew cold.

'What.'

A man she's only seen for ten minutes is forcing herself to come to a conclusion based on absurd reasoning and thinking that it's the 'correct answer'?

That's ridiculous.

She quickly thinks about it.

That man clearly didn't come up with the answer on his own. How could he possibly have revealed her hidden intentions, which she had kept hidden for over a decade, to infiltrate Wassenberg?

If so, then it must have leaked out through the mouth of someone who knows the secret...

'Betrayer?'

Cerberus companions?

They are closer than family, having been through thick and thin together for over ten years.

Really?

"I can hear your brain spinning from here. Don't be suspicious of anyone and just listen to me."

...can you read my mind too?

Kali burst out laughing.

"I don't want to waste my time listening to this nonsense. I'll be going now."

"The deduction wasn't that difficult. You know, there are more than a few people like you who have crept into our house to take down a superpowered person. Of course, we searched them all."

...our house?

“Your goal, isn’t it, Wassenberg?”

"No."

Kali turned around.

“Then, can I go to that house and advise them to stay alert and be on their guard, because you might be a spy?”

“...”

The steps stopped.

She can't think of anything.

Kali slowly looked back again.

Ryan was chuckling.

“I think the verification is complete at this point.”

Ryan muttered and took a step closer.

"We don't have time, so speak quickly. Punch it in the ear and don't ask me twice. My name is Ryan Belzer. Before I was excommunicated from my family, my name was Ryan Wassenberg."

“...!”

"If infiltration was your goal, you would have done some background research on Wassenberg, so you know my name. I'm the fifth in line of that family that destroyed a fiefdom twelve years ago and went to prison. My charges are murder and arson."

This guy was that piece of trash.

Kali thinks,

"But it wasn't me. It was my father and brothers, and I was blamed for it and imprisoned. They framed me so they could deal with me. Because I'm incompetent."

"What..."

Incompetent?

Are there people born into families of people with special abilities who are born without special abilities?

"Now you understand why our goals align. I intend to relieve the resentment I've endured over the past 12 years by severing the throats of all my family members. If you agree, join us."

“That’s not even funny. Even if what you say is true...”

“How can an incompetent person take down a monstrous person with superpowers?”

Ryan cut Kali off.

“You must want to say that.”

He immediately stretched out his hand to the side.

The head of one of the demons that had been holding onto the bars and getting excited was caught in Ryan's hand.

Instant Death

Soon it sagged without any strength.

“...!!”

Kali's eyes widened.

The accident was temporarily halted.

She starts to doubt her eyes...

A sight that is simply unbelievable.

"Another?"

Ryan reached out again.

He grabbed the demon's neck,

He died instantly, like the previous guy.

...

Silence.

In a hazy field of vision, close to darkness.

Ryan nodded.

“If you kill too many people, it will be obvious, so let’s finish assessing the situation here.”

He continues speaking.

“If I keep killing, killing, and killing, I will be able to kill those great power users from afar with just a wink.”

“...”

“If you’re thinking of jumping in like a moth to a flame with the intention of catching a guy and killing him together... it would be wiser to hold my hand.”

Kali stared into Ryan's eyes.

With a calmer look in her eyes than before.
