SOIC - Chapter 6

Episode 6. A Man Like the Incarnation of Royalty

A woman suddenly appeared, crossing the strangely focused gaze of the nobles.

“It’s still the same.”

As Leonard muttered while looking at Margot's face, Beatrix poked him in the ribs.

Noah agreed with his father's opinion for the first time in a long time.

Marguerite was still the same. Princess Marguerite, her blonde hair pulled back into a bun, entered with a cold, frost-like glint in her eyes.

And behind her, a small silhouette of a woman suddenly appeared in Noah's sight.

His gaze slipped from Margot and landed on her, a strange woman. The white blouse, full to the neck, stood out among the plunging dresses of the noble ladies.

As he looked up past the long, slender neckline, he saw a small face that seemed whiter than the white blouse.

The lime green hairband, worn to keep the hair from sticking out over the round, convex forehead, contrasted with the black hair and drew attention.

Even though her eyes were slightly downcast, her large eyes and facial features looked harmonious even from a distance.

The reason why she gives off the impression of being lighthearted, even though she is walking carefully behind Margot, is probably because of her gait.

Noah chuckled involuntarily as he watched the tiny shoes moving busily beneath the exposed hem of her skirt.

Meanwhile, Olivia was struggling to cope with the barrage of stares. She'd grown accustomed to the stares she'd gotten from attending school with the boys, but it was starting to feel like nothing.

In the venerable and splendid palace of Herod, beautiful nobles adorned like jewels were looking at her.

Even when she passed through the golden bars of the palace, she was filled with excitement, but now that she's in this situation, she realizes it was only possible because of her ignorance.

A belated question arose as to whether accepting the royal invitation to come to Herod was really the right choice.

She even had the sullen thought that she should have worn the dress the royal staff had brought instead of the clothes she wore around the university campus.

The black shoes that kept appearing and disappearing under the hem of her skirt were particularly bothersome today.

Olivia swallowed and exhaled, her breathing trembling with each breath, so she consciously slowed her breathing. Then, staring at Margot's skirt, she desperately tried to keep pace with hers.

She couldn't believe that there was a royal palace at the end of this road.

Just as Olivia was having the ridiculous thought that she wished this road would never end, Margot, to her annoyance, stopped walking.

Olivia forced herself to catch her trembling breath and carefully raised her gaze, as she had practiced.

And at the same time, it froze.

Before her eyes, a man who seemed to be the embodiment of the word royalty stood looking at her.

If someone were to ask her to pick a royal by just looking at a face in a crowd of hundreds of people, Olivia would choose this man without hesitation.

Despite his unique height and physique, he had a delicate feel and was impressive even without looking at him in detail.

His dark blond hair was neatly combed back, and even his exposed forehead was straight.

The moment she met the sunken green eyes beneath him, Olivia was startled and quickly lowered her gaze.

“Olivia.”

If it weren't for Margot's soft voice, she would have missed the timing to greet him and almost committed a rude act.

Olivia quickly followed Margot and greeted the royal family. Having practiced the Lady Herod greeting, crossing her left leg behind her right, and bending her knee, she was fortunate enough to do it without a hitch.

Margot glanced at Olivia's condition, then opened her mouth to Leonard.

“It’s been a long time, Your Majesty.”

Leonard responded by taking a step forward.

“Thank you for coming such a long way, Princess Marguerite.”

Now it was Olivia's turn. She looked up, looked at the King and then the Queen, then tilted her head and said.

“Thank you for inviting me to this banquet. My name is Olivia Liberty.”

Noah's eyes, which had been drawn to Margot by the unexpectedly soft, low-pitched voice, turned back to Olivia.

Beatrix spoke to Olivia, who was clearly nervous, in a deliberately warmer voice.

"Welcome, Miss Liberty. It's a pleasure to meet you. I was hoping to meet the Herod woman who was selected as Herrington's top graduating student."

As Olivia tilted her head awkwardly, Margot placed a hand on her back, signaling her to raise her head.

Olivia suddenly felt an unbearable awkwardness in this place, and she felt a sudden urge to run away. The banquet felt distant, as if she had no idea how long it would last.

Then Leonard coughed softly, turned around, and said.

"Well, then, we should go and meet the reporters who are waiting for us. I hope you all enjoy the banquet."

As Margot sneered at Leonard's words and followed him, the Queen led Olivia away.

“Miss Liberty, come with me.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

As Olivia walked after Beatrix, Usher and Noah followed suit.

Olivia felt a tingling sensation in her ears at the presence behind her.

"We're just going to take pictures. Please think of it as a souvenir."

"Yes."

Not knowing what else to say, Olivia gave a short answer, and Usher, who was standing on the Queen's right, smiled faintly and said.

“I heard your major is engineering. Is that true?”

Only then did Olivia look at Usher.

If this place weren't the palace, she would have immediately turned her head and compared it to Noah, but his eyes were blue.

Suddenly, Margot's explanation came to mind.

"The two Princes look so much alike that you wouldn't confuse them. The one with blue eyes is Prince Usher, and the one with green eyes is Prince Noah."

So this must be Prince Usher. The massive presence standing to her left is Prince Noah.

Olivia nodded in response to Usher's question.

“Yes. We are researching technology that converts magical power into electrical power.”

“Oh my, really?”

As Usher and the Queen spoke softly in turns, Olivia felt a little more relieved.

Noah glanced down at Olivia, who was walking with her back turned to him and looking at the Queen and Usher.

When he stood close, he saw that she was so short that her crown barely touched his chest, and her shoulders were so narrow and thin that he thought they might be two palms wide.

Her thick, neatly braided black hair and light green headband kept catching his eye.

Noah looked down at her and walked leisurely, her shoulders bobbing slightly to the rhythm of her brisk gait, reminiscent of a squirrel.

How grateful is this person?

From the day news of her arrival broke, the number of events he had to attend had drastically decreased, and for the past few days, there had been virtually none.

From Noah's perspective, who was struggling in the hell of the event, this little woman was nothing short of salvation.

At that moment, he felt a very intense gaze from ahead.

When he turned his head, he saw Margot, whom all of Herod's prodigal sons feared, looking at him with a stern gaze.

Noah shrugged and smiled at his aunt. Why did everyone give him that look, even though he was living a decent life?

As Leonard stood in the photo zone set up on one side of the garden where autumn was ripe, the Queen stood to his left.

Just as Olivia was pondering her position, a servant approached and kindly guided her to her seat.

“You may go and stand next to His Highness Prince Noah.”

“Oh, thank you.”

The King and Queen stood in the center, with Usher and Margot to the King's right. Noah sat next to the Queen, and Olivia sat next to him.

Noah's silhouette appeared larger in the brightly lit lamp.

Olivia moved behind Noah, who was already standing, and stood a couple of steps away from him.

As she stubbornly looked ahead, she heard a very low, deep, resonant, cool voice from her right.

“Come a little closer.”

Turning her head in surprise, she saw the Prince staring at her. Seeing her wide, black eyes, Noah opened his mouth again.

“You need to come a little closer to get the balance right.”

“Oh, yes!”

Olivia quickly took a step toward him. But even then, Noah still pointed right next to him with his finger.

“Up to here.”

His voice seemed to have some inexplicable power.

The location Noah pointed to was so close that their bodies could touch if they let their guard down even for a moment. Olivia moved cautiously, careful not to touch him, and looked straight ahead.

But soon Olivia realized that feeling presence wasn't limited to sight, hearing, and touch.

The wind, sweeping through the dried vegetation, passed Noah and brushed Olivia's nose. The rustling scent of autumn lingered with the scent of Cologne.

The reporter was looking at the scene, frantically fiddling with his camera, but it was just a meaningless image on his retina.

All of Olivia's nerves were tilted to one side, against her will.

She thinks the reason she keeps feeling like she wants to run away is because of Noah, who is like the embodiment of royalty.

“Relax, look straight into the camera and smile.”

"Yes?"

Olivia turned her head at the sudden voice and looked at Noah. The reporter who had just taken the picture shook his head slightly and clicked his tongue.

“Miss Liberty, you need to look ahead.”

"Sorry."

Noah glanced at Olivia. Her face flushed with embarrassment, and her ears turned even redder.

He felt that if he asked her to come closer, she might blush even more. Noah leaned slightly toward her to maintain his balance.

The reporters and photographers watched with satisfaction at the perfect symmetry between the royal family and Olivia, then exclaimed loudly.

“Yes, let’s take a picture!”

At the same time, the lights flashed.

And so, the photo of Noah's Salvation, Olivia, and the royal family was completed.
